Firefighter Nate York isn't the kind of guy she needs, but that hasn't stopped him from wanting Allison from the moment he clapped eyes on her junior year. Years later, he's still thinking about her. Even though his life is great, he can't help but wish he was the polished, urbane kind of man who would catch her eye. He's made himself satisfied with her friendship, but that's not all he wants. Not by a long shot. And when an unexpected kiss makes him realize life isn't lived standing still, he makes a move for the only thing he wants for Christmas. Her.
She's an uptown girl…
Allison Kurtz keeps her time as filled as she possibly can. That way she can't dwell on her string of failed relationships that stretches all the way across Texas. When an old friend cashes in on a favor, she happily agrees. Helping her buddy Nate pick out a Christmas puppy at Hopeful Paws will be a welcome distraction from her most recent failure in the romance department. But their simple friendship isn't so simple anymore, and Allison's worried that she'll lose the one guy she's always been able to trust if she falls for him. Can a Christmas together convince her that the one she's been searching for has been right beside her all along?
Regina Cole, lover of manly muscled arms, chest hair, and mini-marshmallows, has been reading romance since her early teens. While she loves reading love stories, writing them has filled a special place in her heart, and she’s enjoying every minute.
When she’s not frantically pounding away at the keyboard, she can be found fishing with her family, playing with her dogs, trying out strange new recipes, or snuggling with her hubby and tiny twin boys.
Regina also writes Regency time travel and historical romance as Gina Lamm.
This is another installment of the Firehouse Three series with Sidney Bristol, and this is the first book I've read from Regina Cole. I enjoyed the dual POVs of Nate and Allison as well as seeing some characters who had been introduced in other books in the series. Though the writing style is a bit different (I want to say more poetic), it flowed naturally from the other books written by Sidney Bristol.
About 20% of the way into the book, I started to wonder how the romantic tension between Nate and Allison could possibly stretch over the length of the novel. As I got into their heads and started to see their very different interpretations of their interactions, I started to worry the plot might digress into a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings. Although there was a bit of that, it never got too annoying. Other authors have made me consider throwing my Kindle across the room in frustration. I hate contrived drama!
This series of books is seriously meant for mature audiences, particularly those not offended by graphic details. While reading one intimate scene, my eyes kept returning to one particular sentence that just felt so poignant, despite its clearly profane description: “Faster and deeper and harder, so hard that his chest was thundering like a kettle drum, so fast that his hips were pistoning in a rhythm almost too quick to track, so deep inside her that he almost touched her heart.”
Overall, I would have to say that I really enjoyed the book and I definitely recommend it.

Can they find out who is sabotaging her company and turn it around and will the holidays show them that maybe after all these years they really are soulmates forever????
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review...
Nate and Allison have been crossed loves for ages. He missed his chance as a teenager and was placed into the friend zone and doesn't know if he can jump out of it into the solid footing of lover he wants to be in that she deserves him to give her. The men shes picking are no prince charming's. After her latest event is rudely interrupted by ex-hubby and Nate saves her. Allison notices a problem with client retention, she has none. Regina is a new author for me and I am loving her. Her books are full of heat and excitement.
