This book dives into how people are attached to the things that they own, and are jealous of others for having things they want. I believe the author focuses on it, as it is the base for the entire plot. Around the second chapter, Jake finds out about a plot to steal a prized artifact from the local museum. In the story, the artifact holds great power, and an entire organization wants Jake and his friends dead just for knowing about it. This is similar to real life where people will go to great lengths, even causing the death of others to take or steal something somebody else has.
