The bloody Las Cuevas War robbed Alejandra Diaz of her father, her fiancé, and her home—and left her with an intense hatred for men in uniform. She escapes across the border with her almost-mother-in-law and finds work on a quiet Texas ranch. The place seems like the safe haven she’d been looking for. Until she meets the rancher’s tall, handsome brother who wears the soldier’s badge of a Texas Ranger…

Edward Stewart has spent years proving his abilities as a man, separate from the overbearing protection of his family. As a Texas Ranger, he has the chance to help tame the Wild West and save the innocent. Innocents like the enchanting Mexican woman he rescued, who now lives and works on his sister's ranch. But the moment she sees his badge, she won't have anything to do with him.

Can Edward prove to Alejandra that he's different from the cruel soldiers she's known before? Will Alejandra hold onto the fear ingrained from her past, or can she open her heart to the kindness of this good lawman? When danger escalates in the form of a band of desperados with deadly intent, Alejandra must fight her hardest battle yet…

What a lovely trio of redemptive, feel-good stories! I completely enjoyed getting to know all the folks on this small-town Texas ranch. These stories have just the right amount of spunk and action to liven up the sweetly romantic plots. Settings and cultures are figuratively painted across each chapter with vibrant brushstrokes.

Alejandra’s plight is heartwrenching yet inspiring as she overcomes her fears and the language barrier (without the help of Rosetta Stone) to remain with her fiance’s mother in a foreign country. Edward isn’t perfect but he makes up for his flaws with a large helping of patience and compassion.

I’m a big fan of Misty M. Beller’s Mountain series so I’ve had my eyes on this Texas series for a while now and it does not disappoint! Since I listened to this book on audio, here are my brief thoughts on the recordings: in my opinion, the narrations for the series are fair to good. For me, the first book’s performance is best followed by the third book with the second book starting out a bit rough (almost echoing) but improving in quality as the story progressed.

I BORROWED THIS BOOK THROUGH AN AUDIBLE ESCAPE TRIAL. THE OPINIONS EXPRESSED ARE MY OWN.

I am slowly working my way through all Brenda Minton's books since I only discovered her a few months ago. And I am having such a good time. She writes with heart and her characters and plots seem so real. I highly recommend this author.

This is a sweet inspirational romance. The heroine challenges you to be braver and better, and the hero is definitely swoon worthy! You won't be disappointed if you decide to read The Ranger Takes a Bride!

This a sweet western romance, but the action will still keep you on the edge of your seat! It's the second in a series, but you don't have to read the first one to enjoy!

Texas Rancher Trilogy #2
The Ranger Takes a Bride
Misty M. Beller

Typical Romance follows the usual formula. In a story that feels borrowed from the Biblical book of Ruth a Mexican gal follows the mother of her betrothed from their home in Mexico to Seguin, Texas where the woman’s sister lives. Rescued on the streets of San Antone by a handsome stranger she ends up working for his very pregnant sister on the family ranch.

Seguin, Texas is one place I haven’t been but known to me as the home of Texas Lutheran University. Historically the county seat of Guadalupe County and the market town for the surrounding farmland.

Too much history and too many characters here insufficiently developed. Alejandra finds herself at table with the family and their 15 Mexican Vaqueros seated opposite handsome Edward, her rescuer. All proceeds well until Edward shows up dressed in his Texas Ranger Uniform wearing his badge, a star like the one worn by the soldados who killed her parents, and her betrothed and his father providing the crisis point common to the genre. Texas Rangers were no friends of Mexicans but that history may be ignored here. And as the ultimate crisis point Alejandra finds herself kidnapped by the gang her suitor is tracking.

It wasn’t until I checked back to book one in the series since I’ve not read them in order to discover that Anna and Edgar’s story is told there.

In any case all’s well that ends well and this one ends with the “I Do’s”.

We’ll have to wait until the next in the series to hear how cute the little ones look.

In the interest of being honest, I must say that I didn't read this book but I did listen to it and wanted to share my opinion. I received a free code for this book from the publisher to listen to on Audible. This review is my own honest opinion.
Alexandra has had a very difficult time with her life and she holds bitter memories inside. Sarah has lived in Mexico for many years but knows it is time for her to go home to Texas. It's a few years later at the Double B ranch and there have been some wonderful changes. I loved being able to read how the rancher Jacob and his wife Anna had moved forward with their lives together. This story has some very heartbreaking moments, it also has suspense as things happen to our main characters. Edward is a man now and has become a Texas Ranger with a very dangerous job. I really enjoyed listening to this book and Ms. Beller has given us an excellent one to listen to or read. There were a couple of things that bothered me about the narrator but as the story continued I became used to it or the background hollowness disappeared as I became engrossed in the story. I'm glad that the last book in the series is already published so I am able to continue with the last book in the series.

Another wonderful novel by Misty Beller. They just keep getting better and better! The books are Christian historical romance with themes of faith, family, and finding healing. ❤️‍🩹

In this book, #2 of the Texas Rancher Trilogy, Edward Stewart, a Texas Ranger, finds himself drawn to Alejandra Diaz, a Mexican woman who fears men in uniform due to past trauma. Alejandra, who fled Mexico with her almost-mother-in-law after losing her father and fiancé, seeks refuge on a Texas ranch. Edward, attempting to prove his different intentions, must overcome Alejandra's fear and convince her he's not like the soldiers she's encountered before. When danger arises, Alejandra must confront her past and choose between fear and the possibility of love with Edward, a good lawman. Highly recommend.

Alejandra Diaz's father died in the war. She escapes across the border and finds work on a Texas ranch. Edward Stewart, Texas Ranger, wants to prove to Alejandra that he's different from the cruel soldiers she's known before.

I love Beller's books because they transport me to yesterday and the opportunity to look through the eyes of her characters, who were relatable. There was struggle, pain, and reward. Alejandra must let go of bad memories and bitterness. Isn't that what everyone has to conqueror?

The plot - exciting. The setting - rough. The history - interesting. I enjoyed the Christian faith shown in two different cultures, Mexican and Texan.

Heard 1-3 in Hoopla Audio app. 2015 series. Having recently heard the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series (2025), I'd say the author's storytelling/writing has grown, which is to be expected. Both series show strong Christian characters whose faith grows through or despite adversity. Scriptures and prayer are used in the stories when applicable. Not all characters are overtly Christian and there are legitimate bad guys. She writes characters I'd want to know if I lived in the 1800s.

It was interesting to see barbed wire appear as a new invention that they had never heard of in this series. Same review added to all books in series.

Christian Historical Romance

Misty's stories really spoil me for reading other authors! I'm so engrossed in the long, well written plots and detailed character descriptions, it's like these are true stories about real people! But, then to add such life altering, God moments, I'm just in awe! In awe of her talent, her dedication to writing Christian stories, and mostly in awe of the amazing, loving, restoring God that we love, and serve, that is woven deeply through these romances! Because, there's no greater love than His love for us!

It’s a Christian read by a wonderful author! In the wilds of Texas in the mid 1800’s, there was danger, lawlessness and hard work every day. When women were left as widows and females were unmarried, what they did to make a life was always at risk unless someone took these women in and gave them a chance at a new life. Such is the instance of Alejandra and Mama Sarita, both who found the men in their lives were dead. Where would they go and how would they live is the question and the storyline of this book. It’s a great read and I highly recommend it.

I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Edward Stewart is a Texas Ranger who meets Alejandra Diaz when she and her friend leave Mexico for Texas to find her sister. Once there, they both take jobs on the O’Brian ranch. Alejandra dislikes anyone with a badge because soldiers killed her parents, and hurt her when she was young. She dislikes Edward, and he keeps trying to get her to like him. An inspirational and heartwarming story.

Faith and Forgiveness

Heartbreaking circumstances force Alejandra and her adopted mama out of Mexico and into a Texas family and ranch that scare her and comfort her all at the same time. This is a sweet romance that wrestles with a God who loves us but still allows hurtful things into our lives and handles it well. Happy ending, of course.

It’s interesting how experiences can color your perception of events and people, even years after they happen. I loved seeing how the characters faced preconceived notions, brought on justifiably by traumatic events, and yet they didn’t let those events define who they were. I also liked that trust in God for healing and help was, while not easy, was promoted.

What an incredible story of mystery, intrigue and yes…a happily ever after!

The author outdid herself by writing this intriguing story of heartache, danger and mystery that held me glued to its pages to find out what was going to happen next. I haven’t read any other book that held me on the edge of my seat like “The Ranger Takes a Bride.”

Alejandra’s life was ruined by soldiers in badges, so now anytime she sees a badge she runs the opposite way. She feels like her new life in Texas is going to be what she needs. Alejandra is settling in and starting to enjoy a man’s friendship until she sees his badge. For her it is all over but he can’t just let it be.

Awesome Story, Sweet Romance

I love how Misty Beller weaves a story with memorable characters, poignant scenes, and enough action to keep readers interested all the way through to the end. The plot for this one was so heartbreaking in parts. With a rough start for our MCs, a beautiful tale of love and faith unfolds, leading to a satisfying end. Highly recommend!

Rating 3.5. This was a nice story about Edward, brother of Anna, and his romance. I couldn’t decide whether to round my rating down or up but, because I am sick today and my head is foggy, I am going to benevolently round up.

beautifully written

I love how two different nationalities, two different languages can come together and love one another. That was a scary moment when Alejandra was kidnapped by the bandits but the Texas Ranger saved the day. Edward.

Good

This has some good points to the love story. Some of the things that happened towards the end felt to contrived. Some of the way the characters acted were a little off to me. But over all it was a cute story and a clean read.

A nice story with no ending

This is part of a trilogy and you'll need all three books to be satisfied. Trilogy can have endings. This one doesn't. 😕

Better than the first

4.5 ⭐️

I adored Edward in the first book and I was thrilled to see him take center stage here. It had a bit of a Ruth and Boaz thread to it (my fav) as well.
