Aubrey Jensen finds growing up means making choices to please herself, even if it puts her in conflict with her family. Her sister’s impending wedding forces her to look at what she is doing with her own life – not much. When opportunity knocks (boots!) in the form of a sexy, inked bad-boy she can’t believe her luck. Aubrey is all curves and sweet sass – a combination Garrett Chase, the owner of her regular hangout spot is dying to get his hands on. She’s exactly what he wants in life – so why is everything suddenly going to hell? Sometimes getting what you want, doesn’t give you what you need. To compromise or demand your worth? To turn away or bare your scars? Decisions, decisions….
Merryn Dexter is a military spouse who, after a varied employment career (from selling sandals to old ladies with bunions to being a health and safety coordinator for a construction company), is thrilled to be pursuing her dream career as a romance writer. She likes The Winchesters, Spike, Hotch, Loki and watching complicated European Noir. Her hobbies include crying at books, crying at movies, crying at tv serials (there’s a theme!) and believes all stories should have a Happy Ending.
Cute story. Garrett and Aubrey from different sides. She comes from money and he doesn't. She's independent and moved out of her parents home and owns her own business. He's the same but struggling to keep things going and improve the family bar which he shares with siblings. What I liked about these two lovebirds is they were flawed. You know deep down your thinking negative thoughts about the other. Does he really care for me? She's a spoiled Princess. They both have these thoughts and it wasn't always sunshine and daisies in their relationship. It's a shame about her relationship with her sister. She was pretty nasty and never used to be til she met her fiance Brock. He turned her into a nasty human being who treated her sister poorly. Liked the story.
this was such a cute story between a princess and a barkeep. i fell for the love that developed between aubrey and garrett. garrett's genuine appreciation of all things aubrey was so sweet even if his hangups on her money was a bit dramatic. **spoiler**even though there wasn't a scene where aubrey got into a full out smack down with her mama and sister - i still really enjoyed this quick read and will probably read more from merryn dexter.
