When Ellie Chapman inherits a dilapidated farm, perched high up on the cliffs above the English Channel, it’s not long before she decides to launch a wedding business. After all, with a mum whose cake baking skills rival Mary Berry’s, and the perfect venue, it seems the natural choice.
She might be a total novice when it comes to the first wedding, but with a bride who leaves everything until the last minute, a vengeful ex-fiancé of her own, and the world’s naughtiest donkey… What could possibly go wrong?
Fabrian Books' feel good novels are heart-warming romantic stories that leave you believing a happy ever after does exist.
A nice light hearted quick read. Predictable in places but overall I enjoyed the story and it provided some relief after a stressful few days. Would work well as a beach read.
This book does what it says on the tin. A quick lightness story that gives you all the warm fuzzies and a smile on your face. Would be a great beach read.
I really enjoyed this book, it is only 152 pages so plenty to get you teeth stuck into without feeling bored.
I haven't read anything by the author previously, but this will definitely not be my last Jo Bartlett book, the writing was good, witty and to the point. The characters were likeable from the outset. After her Aunty passes away, Ellie Chapman and her move inherit a dilapidated old farm, of which both have treasured memories. Leaving their lives behind they decide to start again and try to recreate the Aunts dreams. Bring in a few locals and you have a lovely heartwarming read.
Bit dull! Sorry! I was excited to see this as a free read on audible and with such great reviews but sadly I was so disappointed. Story was somewhat dull and silly. Found myself frustrated with Ellie's ways and actions. Especially when it came to Rupert! fgs girl! The writing was far too explanatory, if that makes sense. And repetitive and afraid the slow simplicity of the narrators voice sadly didn't do it for me. Really dislike leaving negative reviews but not everyone can like everything eh! Sorry, this one just wasn't for me.
I love Jo's stories! This was one of her older books and a brilliant start to a series. It's not that long a story, but long enough to get you fully invested in Ellie's story and all those around her. I loved Ellie from the start and her relationship with her mother was just lovely. It was quite the adventure when they inherit a farm including some animals. This was really one of those feel good stories where grumpy people become less grumpy, there's a baddy and some disasters and misunderstandings, but in the end all ends well and you are left smiling and eagerly awaiting your return to this new place.
This was such a cozy romance. Sentimental and cute and fun. Predictable plot with a feel-good happily after ever. Exactly what I wanted from this genre. I enjoyed that it had enough backstory to make me feel empathy for the characters - it wasn't just fluff. My eyes were even misty a few times. Donkeys, sheep, wedding cakes, wild flowers, double love story. It's so heartwarming! Sometimes I thought it could have been a bit longer to develop the characters and issues more, but I really loved the way it all came full circle. It was the perfect listen for a day of chores. Definitely lifted my spirits, and I'll likely seek out the sequel.
This is a cute easy read that follows the standard format of romance novel and could be a Christmas story. Engaged city girl inherits her aunt’s farm and meets a boy and is tasked with sorting out community events and a wedding. I enjoyed the story and characters.
A quite charming, shortish story …5 hours ( I found it in Audibles plus selection - who’s going to turn down a free Jo Bartlett book ) Now off tho find the second part in this series.
