The Five Wishes Series: Five hot and hilarious novellas about wishes that go terribly wrong…fortunately. Five Wishes...A happy ending is just a coin toss away. Each novella is approximately 100 pages with NO cliffhanger.
Book 1: Going Down: Marion MacAlister wants to nail her audition, not get nailed. Truly. Honestly. All right...maybe she does want to get nailed, but that's just because her hottie landlord and local diner owner Mack Ryan is confusing her. Can friends become lovers? Especially friends who might not even be friends in the first place?
Book 2: Man Candy: Raine Harper is in love with Wade Gates. But Wade likes women who are model thin, and Raine is model thin plus a whole lot of pounds. Desperate to make him love her, she trains just a little too hard and passes out in the arms of superstar movie star Dirk Adams. Dirk thinks Raine’s junk in the trunk is perfect and proposes to make Wade jealous by becoming her pretend boyfriend. Pretend soon seems very real. Is Dirk a great actor, or is something really developing between Raine and the movie star?
Book 3: Hot Wired: Marie Foster is not a cheater. Nevertheless, she gets thrown out of college for doing just that. With her life turned upside down, she decides to try new things. You know…Get drunk in a bar. Pick up a guy. Marry a stranger, who just happens to be a hot billionaire.
Book 4: Just Sacked: Layla has been working at her family’s bar since she was five years old. But it’s more than a bar. It’s home. Now with her family gone and debts piling up, her bar is repossessed and taken over by local businessman Hank Taylor. Hank offers Layla a deal: If she can win a drinking contest, she can have the bar back. Layla’s never lost a drinking contest in her life, but after an evening swigging back whiskey, she and Hank wake up together, naked and handcuffed in Mexico. Getting home offers dangerous adventure, and it’s a toss up whether Hank and Layla will get back before they kill each other or fall in love.
Book 5: Wicked Ride: Fiona Jones has never killed anyone, but there’s a first for everything. Still, maybe she shouldn't have hired Ronin—a sexy killer with a wicked motorcycle-- who’s giving her more than her share of attention.
Elise Sax worked as a journalist for fifteen years, mostly in Paris, France. She took a detour from journalism and became a private investigator before trying her hand at writing fiction. She lives in Southern California with her two sons. An Affair to Dismember is her first novel.
What a fun boxset! It's full of five short, but fun and silly stories that had me laughing out loud over the crazy antics of these couples. I listened to the audiobook and narrator, Angie Hickman has the perfect voice for these crazy heroines and I think she adds more enjoyment to the book itself. If you like silly humor, I highly recommend this box set by Elise Sax.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
Ms. Hickman did a freaking amazing job of giving voice to the characters in this series! With a cute and sweet tone, perfect fluctuation and spot on for all the zappy one liners, I have never been more entertained than I was while listening to her narrate these fun, cute, sexy stories. How did I not know that a voice like this could be so totally enjoyable?!
Going Down
I absolutely LOVED this quick, spicy, cute as heck novella!!! Marion was so dramatic and quirky. I loved everything about her. She was completely adorable. Mack has been her “not really friend” land lord and diner operator that feeds her for two years. They have a snarky little relationship that borders on the edge of intense attraction that Marion has been trying to avoid. Now, her day just got derailed and Mack is there to help steer it in his direction. There were so many laugh out loud moments that anyone around would’ve thought I’d lost my mind. This is my first by this author and holy heck…I definitely need more!
Heroine POV Safe Triggers
Man Candy
I loved Raine! She was so quirky and cute and when she was in a pickle she reacted in the most delightful ways. She’s been in love with a boy from school all her life but he doesn’t even know her name. When the handsome actor Dirk Adams steps in to play the pretend boyfriend, all kinds of chaos ensues.
Raine’s family was a riot and I loved how the jumped Dirk. There were so many fun scenes here but I don’t want to spoil them for you. You definitely need to read this one to enjoy all the humor that I’m learning is a true talent of this author.
Heroine POV Safe Triggers
Hot Wire
Marie has been tossed out on her ear after being accused of plagiarizing her dissertation. The only thing to do now is get drunk. That leads to a one night stand that leads to oh so much more in a marriage-of-convenience kind of way. I’m sure Jared didn’t know exactly what he was getting himself into with Marie but their story is hot and spicy, short and sweet and so freaking cute. Lots of laugh out loud moments!
Heroine POV Safe Triggers
Just Sacked
Layla grew up in her family’s bar. It’s all that she has. When some fink claims that he now owns the bar she’s determined to do anything to keep it. A drinking competition ends Layla and Hank, the fink, handcuffed in Mexico and what follows is a hilarious series of events as they try to get back home. Layla was a bit tougher than previous heroine’s in this series, but she still had that snarky, forthright attitude that I’ve come to love.
Heroine POV Safe Triggers
Wicked Ride
Fiona is a sweet innocent farm girl who is out to kill someone. With the help of Ronin she will succeed and free her family from their villainous neighbor. Unfortunately, Ronin is turning out to be a complete dud. You would think I hired killer would be more blood thirsty but Ronin seems to be trying to figure out if the crazy woman is real or if he’s dreaming it all. This was another cute installment in the series and I loved how Fiona let her blood thirst fly…up to a point. This one has a lot of action and a bit of a mystery.

Elise Sax makes love a fantastic adventure. Five Wishes brings the funny. Time flies when your having fun and this collection is a laugh out loud, smartly tempting, irresistible find.
I started laughing on the first page and didn't stop until the last! Elise Sax has created 5 stories with hot, sexy guys in some outrageous situations! Great fun read! You won't be disappointed.
Reviewer: Laurie Disclosure: This eBook was provided by the author in exchange for an HONEST and ot necessarily positive review.
I have to admit, I was a little intimated when I saw there was 5 books in the series. To my delight, each of these books are more like novellas. I was able to read the entire series in about 3 days. 3 days that all I wanted to do was read these stories. Each book tied in with the next. All are set in the same town and each woman in the books has made a wish on their towns famous wishing fountain. I'm sure you've heard the saying, "Watch what you wish for", apparently none of these women have. Their wishes come true but in very unexpected ways.
I must say, I really enjoyed this series. I was a little surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did. I'm not a big romance reader, but the characters in these books were hilarious. I don't remember the last time I laughed so much while reading a book that wasn't humor. (My husband kept asking me what was so funny and I would have to read the parts to him. ) The author did a great job keeping the humor and the sex at a good pace. It never got slow, there wasn't too much sex (as you often find in romance novels), it was a perfect blend of everything you could want. This would be a great series for a beach read this summer. I give The Wish Upon a Stud series 4/5 stars.
I was fortunate to read each one of these stories as they came out individually. They are so much fun! Elise's humor keeps these stories fresh and her characters are quirky and over the top in their journeys to the HEA. The dialogue between each of the characters is smoothly written and realistic. Those smexy times we all love from Elise are there to enjoy, too. This boxed set is a steal for so much fun.
though i read these separate.... those who buy this box set are in for a real treat! Each one of these books has a great story, and a laugh on just about every page... each couple has quite the story and has quite the fun... want a fun and sexy read...this is it!
Want quirky charming sexy fun and a little bit dangerous in a guy? In a book? Then this series is for you it's got it all and more I love LOVE this whole series by Elise Sax it doesn't get much better then this for a great read!
This is my review of the audio version as posted on Audible:
The box consists of five rather short romantic comedies which will give you quite a laugh:)
I liked all five stories in general, though of course some more than others. I think my favourite is the second one, "Man Candy", with Raine and Dirk as protagonists - who wouldn't like to have a god-like movie star fall in love with her and fight a real bear in her defence? :) But all the stories have their charm, all will bring a smile to your lips and you will definitely want to listen on to find out what happens to the girls and their unexpected boyfriends. And I don't even care too much that the stories seem rather unrealistic, with more than one unbelievable situation in stock - romantic comedies are not supposed to be real, right?
What did I especially like about the books? The fact that the stories kind of emerge one from the other - we meet the main female character of the next book as one of the minor characters of the previous one. It's a nice trick on the part of Ms Sax as we want to know what she has in store for those crazy females... So what is it that I didn't like so much? Well, I think sex scenes are a bit too strong for romantic comedies... But maybe it's just because I listened to the books, not read them. It happens quite often that what doesn't bother me on paper irritates and bothers me a lot when spoken out loud... Other than that, the books are a relaxing, fun listen.
The interpretation of the box set by Ms Hickman is great. She has a nice voice and does equally well both female and male parts. She's also very good at conveying emotions, which is quite important when narrating a romance:) Generally, her narration adds a nice touch of warmth to the already likeable, entertaining stories.

Wish Upon A Stud Series (Five Wishes #1-5) was a good read by Elise Sax. This box set consists of; Going Down, Man Candy, Hot Wired, Just Sacked, and Wicked Ride. Going Down (Five Wishes #1) was a good read by Elise Sax. Marion MacAlister wants to do well at her audition. But her hottie landlord and local diner owner, Mack Ryan, is confusing her. They both wonder if friends can become lovers, especially since they aren’t really even friends. Man Candy (Five Wishes #2) was a good read by Elise Sax.Raine Harper is in love with Wade Gates. Wade likes women who are model thin which leads Raine to train a little too hard. She ends up passing out in the arms of movie star Dirk Adams. Dirk likes Raine the way she is and proposes to become her pretend boyfriend to make Wade jealous. Hot Wired (Five Wishes #3) was a great read by Elise Sax. She finds herself marrying a stranger who just so happens to be a hot billionaire. Just Sacked (Five Wishes #4) was a great read by Elise Sax. Her bar becomes reposed and taken over by local businessman Hank Taylor. Hank offers Layla her bar back, if she can win a drinking contest. She’s never lost a drinking contest in her life. They wake up together, naked and handcuffed together in Mexico. Wicked Ride (Five Wishes #5) was a good read by Elise Sax. Fiona Jones is a good girl and still finds herself hiring Ronin to kill someone. This is a first for her but she feels as though she must do it for her family. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
Going Down: This was a great quick listen. Angie did a wonderful job narrating and helped make the story even funnier. Elise did an awesome job writing this story and kept me laughing. Marion and Mack together were cute and funny and all around highly entertaining. I loved listening to this story and having a smile on my face just about the entire time with Marion's scattered brain (or ditsy blondness I'm not sure which to call it). Like I said this was great especially if you want to laugh.
Man Candy: I loved listening to Angie narrate. She made this story more enjoyable than it already was. Hearing about Raine and her crazy plans to get a jerk and the sweetheart Dirk coming to help kept me laughing and smiling the entire story. I love listening to this series and I plan on hearing them all.
Hot Wired: This story really made me laugh and brightened my day. Poor Marie and her scatterbrained innocence. Just hearing Angie narrate this awesome story really made my day. I don't know of more to say than this is funny and all together too funny of a read to ever pass it up.
Just Sacked: I loved getting to listen to Layla and Hank's adventure into Mexico. With all the mishaps and the trouble these two get into its awesome. I couldn't help but laugh at poor Hank and his unfortunate luck at everything bad happening to him. It was great and extremely entertaining.
Wicked Ride: I loved this wild ditzy ride. Sweet Fiona and her small town innocence getting swept away by hunky Ronin in her quest to kill her jerk of a neighbor and save her family farm. I loved reading this story and getting to hear Angie narrate it just made the story so much funnier. This is a great story and awesomely entertaining.
Thank you to Angie Hickman for giving me this audiobook free of charge in return for an honest review.
The Five Wishes series is a few different stories that follows different characters as their wishes come true after wishing in a local well.
THE GOOD STUFF This was a really enjoyable audiobook with different short stories, all very entertaining and easy listens. The characters were all really likable and in my opinion, there wasn’t one dud story.
I got about an hour into the story before I realised that I’d listened to narrator Angie Hickman before when I listened to ‘Tinsel in a Tangle’. She really is a great narrator who really gets you stuck in the story. She really commits to what’s going on with different voices and accents. Probably one of the best authors I’ve listened to.
I think that my favorite story of them all was ‘Just Sacked’. It was quite funny to listen to and at times I did find myself chuckling.
When the story began I thought that maybe there would be far too many characters for me to keep track of, but it wasn’t at all. The stories were so easy to follow and simple enough to not have to completely pay attention. It is really clever how each character of a story is introduced in the one before. I really enjoyed guessing what their story would be when they came into the picture.
NOT MY CUP OF TEA I really enjoyed this and don’t really have any criticism of it.
OVERALL RATING A really cute and fun read. Very entertaining and very well narrated.
The Five Wishes Series by Elise Sax are 5 extremely fun short stories that are perfect for summer vacation or a holiday week-end. Each story involves the heroine making a wish by throwing a coin into a dry fountain in the middle of a small-town square. Not one of the wishes comes true in the literal sense, but each story ends happily, with many chuckles and laugh out loud moments throughout.
The stories vary from basically a classic "opposites attract" story, a marriage of convenience story, a long-time friend turns lover story, and a famous actor falls for local girl story. While all the stories have sexual tension, they vary on how much sex is in them. Thankfully there is not too much graphic details in any of them that is drawn out for pages and pages. Despite the stories being relatively short and running about 2 hours each, they are well written for the genre and immensely entertaining.
I listened to the Audible version of this series narrated by Angie Hickman who did an excellent job giving each character their own voice. She had great intonation and pace and delivered the quick snarky comments with aplomb. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. I can’t wait to listen to the next audiobook by Elise Sax and narrated by Angie Hickman!
Have it in audio First I heard from the author. It was fun sexy and hilarious. She knew how to draw the listener in ? Her female characters are funny and down to earth but with a big wish list
There are 5 friends that have a wish each that they would love to see become reality. They decide to do what most do Find a well and drop a penny and make their wishes. There is only one problem!!! The well is dry ! Listen to this and see how the dry well delivers the wishes. And how the women act Each story has a heroine in it
The narrator Angie nailed it right on. First time I listened to her
You'll be hard pressed to decide which of these sweet, funny and very sexy romances is your favourite, but fortunately, in this collection you get all 5 so you won't have to pick just one. This collection is perfect for traveling to work (just be careful not to giggle-spray your coffee) or for a girls weekend since they're short and semi-stand alone (each story provides a brief sneak peek at the heroine from the next story, but there are no spoilers). I loved all of them.
Funny, over the top, quick reads. Somehow, I prefer the novella format for these stories (e.g. I DNF 'Bounty' - but thank you for the Logan-cameo! :) ).
My favourite story was Marie's, though I think Ronin is my favourite hero of the bunch.
I'll be looking for the other stories in this series.
I enjoyed this box set immensely. Five books, five women desperate for various reasons. Each go the dilapidated wishing well and wish for their hearts' desire. Only this wishing well is dry and cracked and does not get any of their wishes right. What ensued is a hot hilarious mess. Great stories, fun, fun read.

This was a fun enjoyable read. Each book averages out to be around 2 hours each so you can have a few quick listens if you are tight on time. There are times when you will laugh out loud because of the silliness these girls have. Very fun to listen.
Hilarious! I love Elise Sax's writing, and I love Rom-Com. This Series includes five short stories, fast-paced, hilarious and sexy. I really enjoyed this light and funny listen. The narration is well done and easy to listen. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Some of the situations are a bit ridiculous and some descriptions are a little lazy (saying hero looks like Ryan Gosling with a tattoo on his neck is about all we get for one character). But they're all pretty well written and the dialogue is good. All quick, light reads.
Favorites were probably Going Down, Hot Wired and Wild Ride
Made it through the first story. Ground my teeth through the second, but couldn't take the third. As a woman I am thoroughly embarrassed to read another women being portrayed this badly. The issues are real, even the unrealistic expectations we put on ourselves, no argument, but I can't say I've witnessed an actual woman acting this way in person.
This is a romantic, humorous series that revolves around an old dilapidated fountain in a small California town that doesn't even work as a fountain but works in mysterious ways on the wishes made in it.
Five incredibly sweet romances. Accident prone heroines and the men who fall instantly in love regardless of the injuries or danger their women run headlong into at breakneck speed.
Comedy and romance a perfect pair in this set of wishes stories. These were light and fun to read. It gave me a great break from my normal reading list.
