This is a novel specifically for teenagers, which I obviously am not.

I find myself not caring about any of the characters, and each love story, conflict as well as friendship in the novel is fast-paced and not in depth. Everything happens so fast and so easy.

And the way it was written in English (in terms of sentence structure, slang), does not feel like it was said by someone who lives in the US. This novel would have been better if it was based and set in Malaysia. Some fact checks should have also been made on the culture and how their education system works.

I'm not sure how much work the editors have done on this book, but there were still a lot of grammatical errors that could have been avoided.

This was not a particularly bad book, but it is not for me.

Why is it that all the good wattpad books aren't made into real books? They're sooo good, loved it!!!

I love this book wayyyy too much. The way ellie got so insecure towards the end of the plot really got me teared down. Definitely worth every time spent on this book

'The Boy Who Lost His Sight' is one of the books I have enjoyed reading this year.

I know I'm a little too old for sappy teen romance, but this one is strangely enjoyable. I've sat through Eleanor and Park earlier, only to find it's lack of impact towards myself. TBWLHS is more dramatic, with characters who are more relatable and of variety of personality.

It starts off cliché (girl with tragedy moves to new place, starts new life, meets new guy), but as the story unfolds, the book seemed to weigh on the building of the relationships between the characters, instead of 'just romance'. The variety of characters gives the story an interesting dynamic. Aiden is a great addition to the story, I wished the novel was longer as I'm definitely interested in the Aiden-Riley friendship and Ben-Reese's frenemy-ship. Still, it's a well-done novel. Not bad for Bella Zamri's debut.

There are minor grammatical errors here and there, me being an insane English grammar nazi, I have been scribbling in my copy. It's alright though, I love my books scribbled.

It's impressive that Bella Zamri, being a Malaysian writer, gave a 100% American teen flick feel towards the readers. However I'm pretty biased on POC characters and I'd appreciate a more diverse set of characters rather than just 'white'. Bila aku bukak buku orang putih, aku bangga ada karakter macam Magnus Bane (Indonesian), Jem & Jia Penhallow (Chinese), Takumi (Japanese), Maia (African American), Lara Jean & MinHo (Korean), dsb sebab jarang orang putih ni nak acknowledge Asian-Americans dalam cereka ciptaan diorang. But it's alright, it's my preferences doesn't speak for the general public. It's overall an enjoyable book.

First of all, I was so excited to read this book and the reviews plus the views on wattpad was so high! It got me all pumped up to read this cute little book. It also has such a great blurb at the back of the book. Everything seems so good and tbh, this book did not disappoint me entirely but it went a little downhill for me as it didn't hit that high expectation I set in the first place.

Being the first full Malaysian English novel that I read, it was not bad at all. I enjoyed reading it. The Boy Who Lost His Sight had such a pleasant story line, it was eventful, the idea was there. But somehow there were a few things that I didn't enjoy that much.

First, THIS BOOK WAS ABSOLUTELY SCREAMING 'CLICHE' at my face the entire time. Cliche usually works on me. I like cliche love story. But this one somehow didn't work that much because I was expecting some kind of plot twist, but there was none! Everything was almost too easy to be predicted. Upsetting? A little. The story created was perfect but I just hope that there was something done to it that could spice up the story a little.

Next, the pace of the story was a little bit too fast for me, that it sometimes didn't make much sense. I hoped that things could be stretched a little longer, that maybe there were some kind of appropriate 'fillers' could be inserted in between some of important parts in the book. For instance, I think Riley fell in love a little too fast with Emily and Riley received her help a little too easy without much justification to why he really felt so good about her.

Then, Riley's character. Riley for me was a little confusing in the first part of the book, but later on, after he dated Emily, he got a little better and came up stronger with a new personality and character, which was good. Comparing to the first part of the book, I thought he was supposed to be this cold and stubborn and just quiet kind of guy, almost like Edward Cullen. But once he spoke his lines, he was talking too much and didn't go well with his character. So that was why I was confused.

I guess those were the 3 main points of the things I didn't like much about the book. Overall, I did have a nice time reading The Boy Who Lost His Sight. The writing style was reader friendly, it had some nice simple quotes(even though they didn't give a deep impact to me) and it is a book that you can read anywhere, at any time. So, to whoever loves some cliche love story, go grab this cute one here! ;)

I bought this book at a book fair because there was a promotion of 3 books for RM50. The two books I bought together was on my wish list, but this one definitely happens to be randomly picked by me. My first impression (based on the title, and didn't bother to read the summary behind) was this must be a life story from the perspective of a boy who went blind all of a sudden. And I thought to myself how is this interesting?

To my surprise, this book really caught me off guard. After the first few chapters, I can't get enough of it. I even read this book before the other 2 books that were on my wish list.
I didn't expect the setting of the story to be in a foreign country from the author's origin. The storyline is simple and just like most teen flick, I fell in love with its characters. I almost can imagine myself as Ellie with her family and weird friends. And just like her, I definitely couldn't get enough of Riley Flynn. An impressive writing from the author for her first novel. Though she had been writing in Wattpad since 2011, this was my first time reading her story and will read more from her in the future.

You know how people always say-even the hypocrites-don't judge a book by its cover? In this case, people. Well that same rule applies to Ellie Burke when she meets the most interesting and mysterious boy she's ever encountered since moving back from her old town. So, she did the only thing that no one has ever done since this boy became the blind freak, and talked to him. And it was probably the best thing she ever did.
This story is probably one of the most touching and interesting books I have ever read. Only because it tells the real meaning of true love in its own unique way. Read The Boy Who Lost His Sight and join Ellie and Riley's complicated ride to finding their way to each others hearts.

Adapted and improved from Wattpad with more than 15.7 million views and counting, this teen romance flick certainly caught my attention despite I don't really into this kind of story.

What makes it beautiful is the intriguing character of Riley and the determined Ellie, together with other supporting characters that show us positive family values apart from the main theme of love.

The book really showcases the strength of the writer and somehow, this story is well-suited for a movie adaptation. Highly recommended to those into love stories.

first of all, seriously dear writer. i give my thumbs up because i think your writing is absolutely good. i mean for a malay and malaysian girl to write in a simple yet interesting way is really an achievement. which i envy.

second, for the storyline..i guess i can know what your age are. the story is good but somehow it is lack of maturity. at first i think this story happen in our society, in our country but it turns out that the settings is in florida. wow.

maybe for a teenage girls, students feels that this story is an interesting one. cute boy with flaw and cold character. ordinary girl with bad past time but positive and cheerful. it seems like the typical hollywood high school story with no drugs or sex.but it is lack of ... i dont know. it feel like something could be discuss more in detail. for example we can know how well john green can write a teenage story but there is still an issue that we might find simple but had deep meaning.

so yes i think you will understand it as you grow up. a good story does not mean that it has to be a serious and complicated but it is much meaningful if it is something that relate to you & the readers.

you really had the potential bella zambri. keep up the good work.
p.s: i just read your biodata. no wonder, you write it when you you're sixteen. god, your english must be flawless at such young age.

There were two best friends. One was blind and one was broken. Life crushed them in two different ways, leaving both of them behind with nothing but scars. But, one scar is visible and one is not.

The boy who lost his sight shut his life away, his soul as dark as his sight. His friend's life remained bright but his soul never did.

This was a lot better when I was 14. The plot needs some work and I know that english isn't the authors first language but being that this book is published, I didnt expect so many grammatical mistakes
