I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. So, I struggled with this book a little to start off with. It is written from a weird point of view which I have not encountered anywhere else – the characters are referred to by name (and she/he), the tense is present and the writer is omnipotent. It felt quite awkward for me to start off with and had the unintended effect, I am sure, of distancing the reader from the characters. It was an almost clinical approach that came off a bit flat and one dimensional. That said, if you can get used to the style of writing, the story underneath it all is worth the effort. It starts with a good idea and two fairly simple characters who get more complicated and involved as the book progresses – it’s a nice story and I liked how Kai and Shandra were given the opportunity to get to know each other over a period of time, that they formed an actual relationship instead of the insta-love you so often get with quick romances these days. Also, the sex scenes when they came were very passionately and well written which added to the overall enjoyability of the book. I was impressed as well that Shandra actually managed to grow a little as a character so that by the end of the book she was doing the right things for the right reasons – it certainly made me more sympathetic toward her. Quick, sexy read.

Shandra is a scientist and starting a new job for her dad. Lacking self confidence due and learning a new job, she finds out the truth of what her dad is involved in. Kai is an alien dragon shifter who is trying to find a home for his people. On Earth and of course that doesn't go well. He let himself be captured to save a war between them both. Well meeting in a science lab not the usual girl meets guy story. Shandra isn't happy about having to take samples from the aliens. She kinda grows attached to them, especially Squidly and of course Kai. You can tell how much she hates this jobs and wants to help them. I use to be a big alien nerd when I was younger. Big fan if The X Files and Roswell. Alot of things I've watched shows how bad the human race is and I actually want to fight for the aliens. This book reminds me a little of this. No compassion!! I did enjoy this book, it seemed a little rushed in places for me. BUT I still enjoyed it.
Alien Alpha Kia. This book was a little on the far side of things. Once I read the first few chapters, I wanted to read more . The creatures /animals were interesting and bazaar. Kia was a pretty powerful being who captivated Shandra's heart. Kia saved Shandra from her own people and healed her. She decided to go with Kia and live with him as his wife. Within the story was a great love story connecting two different people sharing a strong desire for one another. this is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
