This was one of my favorite picture books when I was a kid and it totally holds up.
Count Munch is a vampire who loves chocolate, descending upon the village of Tiblar in the dead of night to feast on their sweetest wares.
When Tiblar's economy is threatened by a newly-constructed freeway (one that bypasses the old road leading into town), the village council decides to host an international chocolate festival to drum up business. Chocolatiers from all around the world arrive with their greatest creations, and I bet you can guess who else will be in attendance.
It's a short, goofy and especially sweet story, simply-told and well-drawn. A great concept, a vampire who loves chocolate. It's nothing extraordinary, but it is a personal favorite of mine, and one I'd gladly read to any future nieces or nephews, over a steaming cup of cocoa with marshmallows.
I loved this book when I was a child. It is packed full of great illustrations and bizare characters. It tells the story of a unusual vampire who adores chocolate and will do anything to get his hands on some ( something I have always been able to relate to!). This book will appeal to children of all ages.
A very young kids book. I picked it up after the Halloween clearance because it was a pop up book. (Who doesn't have fond memories of those?). I read through it and found it surprisingly delightful. A very interesting take on the vampire. Very bright, lots of humor, cute characters, and even a surprise at the end. If you got youngin's pick this up!
My partner feels I missed some essential reading as a child so as it's New Years Eve I've decided to indulge him. Happily this was a good read and I shall be sending my nephew a copy shortly. Also this is the last book for my 2014 challenge 100 books read!
