Caged Bird and the Open Door: A Micropoetry Collection

Rate this book
Caged Bird and the Open Door is a collection of bite-sized chunks of poetry which hold in them entire worlds of angst, hope, heartache, persistence, love, bliss and beauty. This is a peek inside a man's head lit with memories on the cusp of what is real versus what is imagined; it is a pulse of myriad ups and downs, of the bottomless fall and the purposeful rise. This is his story, one small set of strung-up words at a time.

It is a 3.75 for me.

I was pretty excited to read this collection of micro-poetry because poetry speaks to the soul. (And by that I in no way mean that prose does not).

Maybe it is just me but for I felt that most of the poetry in the collection was OK. There were a few that brought a fleeting smile to my lips bringing up long buried memories.

The following one, however, is my favourite in the entire collection. I just fell in love with it as soon as I read it.

For me, it was a one time read though.

A heart felt read! I cannot decide which one of these haiku touched me more. Every word holds a lot of meaning in it and as you keep on turning the pages the Cline gets depper and you simply cannot hold yourself from falling into the cage!
After a while into the book the title started to mock me... the door was open I could get out of the spell of the words but I didn't want to because I fell in love with the entrapping cage of words. Writing this review is a very hard thing and I am having difficulty putting down my thoughts about the book because once you are done reading it, it leaves you speechless and breathless for a while.
A must read for all the micro poetry lovers!

It's a must read for any poetry lover. The poems that Zuhaib penned down are the living breathing beings. So many poems would resonate with you on such deeper levels, you'd be amazed. I read and reread because I really wanted to memorize a few of those. Can't wait to my hands on the paperback and can't wait to read more amazingly, achingly beautiful poetry by the author!

I absolutely loved it! So much that it was re read, and will be re read every time I need to read poetry for inspiration. This is a very clever book and a perfect example of the power of words, the right words, if arranged the right way.

Recommended to everyone who loves beautiful sentences, and has taste for poetry.

It is an amazingly relatable book. Though I finished reading it in half an hour,it took me a few extra hours to take my mind off it. Poetry is very simple yet incredibly beautiful and deeply soulful to keep you indulged. I read it over and over and over again, and each time I sank into the theme differently. For me it was like life given to many unsung feelings.

This book has a very strong voice and will reach out to people on an emotional level. I felt a deep connection with most of his words and those sentiments are imprinted on my mind now.

Never had a chance to read micro-poetry before but now I have certainly developed an interest after reading caged bird and the open door.

"I am the long
Delirious pause
Between
The wreckage I was
When you found me
And the wreckage I'll be
When you're gone."

The cover caught my attention and I knew instantly that I need to get my hands on this book asap. A signed copy of it came in the mail with a handwritten customised poetry, which I absolutely loved! It's a short and sweet book that you can finish within half an hour. Most of the poetry in the collection are heartbreakingly beautiful and I have bookmarked many that I loved!

Recommended to all the micro poetry lovers!
