Enforcer: Bad Boy Romance

Rate this book
When gangland enforcer Matt Harris is released from prison after a four year sentence for assault, it’s to a government program intended to help him move away from the life he led before. A requirement of the program is to attend sessions with trained counselors, which he assumes will be boring until he attends his first one and meets Brigitte Sanderson. Brigitte's new in this line of work, and certainly wasn't expecting to run into someone like Matt Harris. Confident, cocky and attractive, he's the opposite of the kind of criminal she was expecting to have to deal with day to day. After four years in prison with no female company, Matt wastes no time in sweet talking the young, attractive girl into bed so he can release four years of pent up lust. What starts out as a little fun turns serious, especially when Matt is sucked into his previous life by a vicious gangland boss - who has no problem not only targeting Matt, but the new woman in his life. This is an 18+ romance novel intended for adults. Approximately 100,000 words.

Bad Boy Trying To Go Good

The book started a little slow but eventually it picked up pace. The POV's were spread out over several characters. The romance between Brigette and Matt was steamy, sexy and dangerous. Then you had Billy, Lincoln and Eddie (the boss) spying on Matt learning all they could so they force him back to the mafia. Eddie threatened Matt by using Brigitte. Matt had to figure out how to get out of that life and keep Brigitte safe. The book is an excellent read. Great premise, great characters and super sexy love scenes. Happy ending.

Brigitte is a Woman who has helped her father get his business in order but now has decided to put her Collage Degree to use, the job she applies for is to be a Counselor for Ex-Cons who are fresh out of Prison to get on the straight and Narrow. Matt a Man who has spent the last 4 years in Prison is given another chance and help to get to his new life, he actually wants to better his life and not go back into the gang that he knew and grew up with most of his life. Brigitte and Matt will have this instant attraction for each other, while she goes back and forth with should she or shouldnt she, he feels she deserves better.

What I enjoyed most about Enforcer is watching Matt only knowing Brigitte for a short amount of time, yet he is willing to do anything to protect and keep her safe from all harm. Watching Brigitte start to fall for him and see that what he is saying is the truth about turning his life around.

This book is great, This story has a few point of Views, Brigitte of course as well as Matt and then some of the guys that work for his old boss. This story has a Woman who is just getting started in her Career and one of the first Ex-Cons she meets happens to be Matt, Matt a man trying to go the right way but gets dragged back into his old life for a job and he does it to protect Brigitte, they both are in danger if this job doesnt go as planned and wanted. If you like stories like this, then Enforcer is a must!!

Contemporary bad boy trying to go straight romance. Ms. Black did a good job keeping readers interested by writing an action packed, ex-con mob story. Matt just spent 4 years in prison but he was trying to defend himself. He wasn't an angel and worked as a mob enforcer since he was a teen. Upon release he's given a chance to change. Unfortunately, the mob wants him back and know how to entice. Brigitte's anxious to get a job. She has a opportunity to work in a new government ex-con pilot program. Needless to say being a bad boy mob book there is violence and definitely a book geared to adults. The story has sudden twists and turns that are unexpected. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

This book was just okay to me. I really couldnt get into it until about the 6th chapter. I couldn't connect with Brigette at all she just seemed so bland not interesting at all. Her presence was to small for her to be a main character. I found myself skimming through her parts of the story because they just Aeron interesting. Delores had way more presence and I liked her a lot better.I really liked Matt although it was hard to picture him as a mob enforcer. I know he'd been out of the game for awhile but coming from prison he was a little to trusting especially with Brent. Its things like this that had me rolling my eyes thinking that wouldn't happen with hardened criminals, 2.5 stars. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Can you really escape your past? Matt tries but it seems that his old "friends" want him back.
Bridgette wants to help others. She believes in second chances. She volunteers with several charities and she desperately wants to get the position with the government second chance program.
Bridgette meets Matt and sparks fly.
This book was an easy read with some hot scenes. You definitely can figure out what is going to happen when he decides not to help his old boss because of an old girlfriend. The characters are written well and the plot line did have a few twist.

Bridgette starts her new job as a government rehabilitation officer which means she helps ex-convicts to re-adjust to their lives and help them keep to the straight and narrow and not revert back to the lives that put them in prison. Matt Harris was an enforcer who had been involved in that life since he was 12 yrs but after four years inside to reflect he decides to give it a go...... what can he loose.
This story really is a great read full of chemistry, humour, action and brilliant characters, I really enjoyed reading it.

Not my cup of tea. This is my first Selena Black book. So this book was really not for me, as I didn't get into the story line or the characters but I did finish it as I wanted to see where it would go. This will not deter me from reading Selena again just because this book did not do it for me. I voluntarily read this for Hidden Gems for my honest review.

This book was okay. There was nothing new or exciting about it. The story was a little boring and moved along very slowly. The main characters, Matt and Brigitte were flat and unexciting. Matt is a bad-boy who was wrongly imprisoned. He did his time while trying to stay out of trouble. Of course, because of his reputation as an enforcer, he’s always targeted to a fight because someone always wants to take him down. A few days before his release from prison, he defended himself and got thrown into solitary. After leaving solitary, he met with the warden who told him about a new program to help ex-cons get on their feet and away from their old lives. They are given a free place to live and assistance with finding a job or find and learn new skills.

Brigitte is a young woman who lives with her father and is finally looking for a job in her field of social science. After helping her father with his business, she is now ready to move on to doing what she likes to do. After interviewing for a counselor position, she gets the job. It turns out that this is the program that Matt has agreed to join. Matt and Brigitte’s meeting was okay not instant sparks. Only an acknowledgement that they find each other attractive but nothing else. Meanwhile there is another storyline involving the bad guys Matt ran with before he was incarcerated. This line ultimately crosses with Matt and Brigitte leading to some dangerous situations.

I was disappointed in some of the situations Matt got himself in. As an enforcer, I expected a lot more bad-assed attitude. The bad guys was able to get a hold of him too easily. It seems that once you get locked up, you lose your edge, my thinking is that it would be the opposite and would carry through once you leave prison and want to start a new life. There were too many instances where he was caught unawares; not something I expected from a top enforcer with an infamous reputation. With Brigitte, I was surprised by how easily she got involved with Matt after one encounter outside of the workplace and very little thought was put into the fact that it may not be a good idea for them to get involved.

Although the storyline was interesting, I still had to flip through pages to move the story along. There was some excitement between the bad guys and Matt and Brigitte but it was predictable. All in all this story was okay, but not much more. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I'll be honest, I was close to quitting the book to begin with as I found it a little slow. However, I carried on reading and I'm glad I did. Matt could have been more of a bad boy - but I did like him and Brigitte. Good storyline that kept me gripped and on the edge of my seat with good twists. I would recommend and I look forward to reading more books by Selena.

Matt Harris has just been released from serving 4 years in prison. He doesn’t want to go back to his former life as the deadly “Enforcer” in the underground world of drugs and crime. Matt enrolls in a government funded program for ex-cons and agrees to go to counselling in exchange for a free apartment, help finding a job etc. He’s mostly in it for the free perks, but once he gets a look at his counselor, he doesn’t dread his check-in appointments as much as he’d anticipated.

Brigitte is fresh out of college and takes a job as a junior counselor in the ex-con re-integration program. She’s no stranger to working with people who have fallen on hard times, so she’s excited for the challenge of this new position. Her friend teases her that the last thing a convict coming out of prison needs is a young, cute, blonde counselor, but Brigitte isn’t worried about falling for a bad boy.

She should have been more worried… Matt and Brigitte share an instant spark and Matt goes out of his way to get to know her better. Brigitte takes a risk and starts a relationship with him, believing that he truly does want to become a better man. She just didn’t anticipate his old boss coming to call on Matt so soon after his release.

Can Matt stay away from the life of crime and have a real chance at love with Brigitte? Or is the lure of his former life stronger than his feelings for Brigitte? How will he keep them both safe if he turns his back on his former boss?

To be honest, this book started out pretty slow for me. It was told from an all seeing point of view, but I didn’t like how we kept going back and forth between chapters with Billy, Lincoln and Eddie and then back to Matt and Brigitte’s lives. It felt like two entirely different stories that were loosely tied together. I think it was more detail than I needed as a reader and it just made it drag a bit. It all did eventually come together, but I personally think it took too long to get there. But that is just one person’s opinion! I just wanted to be honest.

I did really like Matt and Brigitte’s characters and relationship though. They had crazy, hot chemistry and I felt myself rooting for their HEA throughout the story.

Great premise. Great characters. Super sexy love scenes. I just wish the story had progressed a bit quicker.

I volunteered to review an advance copy of this book.

I just this book to Give My True and Honest Review

This is one Hell'v'a book that fill's you up with that tension where you know that the girl who had always done right and never stepped a foot wrong well that is the way it always was for Bridgette until she became a government rehabilitation officer, to help ex-convicts to adjust their lives back on to the straight and narrow and not go back to the lives they were involved before they went inside.
And Bridgette's first client is the very sexy and muscular Matt Harris, who was an enforcer, who had ran & selling Drugs for Eddie since he was 12 yrs & knew no other way of life after nearly 20yrs of doing this. & he decided as his do called friends and protectors didn't help keep him out of the nick, he decides there's nothing to loose.
We see these 2 have attraction from the very start off starting with that handshake. Now tell me if I'm wrong for someone who was always the best enforcer around he would be always weary about his surroundings & you would at least feel if someone was following & filtering about you, but that wasn't the case for Matt & this is where his and Bridgette's lives are on the knife's edge as Matt had to do a which he thinks he's keeping her safe. And This is where things start tumbling down for and you do need to read to see & feel the gripping story of the lives of these 2 & see if things were worth while of putting your whole persona to entrusting a diversity of change.
It is a novel you're unable to put down (forget how long it took me this time, but I promise you, I would've normally had gotten it read in a day) an intense and energetic read. Which is a beautiful love story

This is my first book by Selena Black. I will admit it took me a bit to get into the book but once in it was delightful, so give it a chance. Ms. Black brings us a story of bad boy Matt Harris. Matt is on the end of a 4 year stint in prison. Days from doing his time he gets into a fight that he attempted to avoid, that brings him into the Warden's Office. The Warden offers him a chance to make things right and puts him in touch with a government program that helps inmates move on with their lives.

Bridgette Sanderson, is a new counselor just hired for the program. She took time off after getting her degree to help her father get his business on the right track. Kismet perhaps. She and Matt meet in a counseling session. Then they run into one another in town, and the magic happens.

Meanwhile - the life he decided he wanted to get away from comes back to bite him in the butt, and in turn affects Bridgette. The forces of good and evil battling each other. I have to admit points in the book confused me, although we don't know the local of the story, it goes back and forth between American and terms to me that might be the Queens' English. I found it a bit daunting at times. But, still found the story forward moving.

If you are in the market for a quick, hot, bad boy romance then this one should fit the bill.

Matt was falsely imprisoned, but does his time knowing he wouldn't be believed if he tried to defend his actions. He was known to be involved in gangs and selling drugs. After four years of serving time he gets hooked up with a government program to help him get back on his feet and adjust outside prison walls.

Brigette is finally able to put her college degree to use and landed the job of her dreams. She loves to help people that would normally be overlooked. Her fist case is helping ex-cons adjust back in society and helping them with education, jobs, living arrangements and keeping away from vices that put them in prison to start with.

The first time Brigette and Matt meet she is attracted to the bad boy vibe, yet believes he really wants to be a good guy. Matt wasn't expecting someone like Brigette to be the government aid that was going to help him get his life back on track. Both of them feel the attraction, but know they shouldn't get involved.

Will Brigette get burned by the bad boy or is he truly a different man now that he served time? Will Matt be able to stay away from his old life of will it just be easier to fall back into that comfortable routine? Is he using Brigette or does he really have sincere feelings for her? Will his past bring danger and heartache to her door?

Matt Harris is released after 4 years in prison with the chance to finally get his life together and away from his past, only the past doesn't want to release him. Brigette is the junior counselor in the release program that Matt has entered and while he originally entered it for a place to stay while he got his life together, they have an instant connection. Matt makes a plan to track her down to test the attraction between them. After having drinks together, they spend a wonderful night together, but Matt's past won't let him move on, only this time they are going after Brigette to keep him in line. Matt decides to do whatever necessary to keep her safe, but complications arise and they must run with another couple. Unknowing to them, the other man is a traitor. Matt is willing to give everything up for Brigette, but after everything walks away thinking hes keeping her safe. Brigette's father has enough of her moping and works towards reuniting them. Will this bad-boy take a chance or will he let her go?

Great bad-boy romance! Loved how it wasn't all rainbows and it showed the problems with people coming out of prison. Loved how their connection and loyalty was visible. Definitely recommend!

Newly released from prison for an assault that was self defense, Matt wants to turn his life around. It just so happens there's a government funded program to help reform criminals to lower the recidivism rate... (imagine that!) You will receive an apartment, rent free, for 6 months, help with finding a job, and a counselor to talk to and help with all of that.

Brigitte finished her degree in social work and gets a job working for the program and sparks fly between Brigitte and Matt on their first meeting. However, Matt's past catches up to him and it has Brigitte and Matt on the run!

The writing and chemistry was great. There were moments where I didn't understand how Matt was such a great enforcer because he never noticed he was being followed. What I loved was his persona didn't match his reputation. Yeah, he was a bad boy... but he had a heart of gold. His interactions with Brigitte were lovely and sassy. The teasing back and forth was endearing and it let you see the REAL Matt.

The secondary characters were great. They definitely added to the story and kept the Brigitte and Matt on their toes! If there was a sequel to Brigitte and Matt, I would definitely read it! Quick read and recommend it!

***I voluntarily read this ARC to give an honest review.***Matt Harris was an enforcer for a mobster. He had injured two men and was sent to prison for four years. Several days before his release, a prisoner that wanted to get rep attacked him in the cafeteria. He beat the goon easily. The guards watched the fight then took Matt to lockup! He wasn't' there long before he was taken to the warden. He thought he was in jeopardy if losing his release, but that wasn't the case. The warden wanted to put him into a program that would get him started on a new path to a straight life. In the program, he met a counselor, Brigitte. They were attracted to each other and began seeing each other. In the meantime, Matt's former boss has had him followed and knew all about his release and the program. He was insulted that Matt hadn't come to see him. So he sent for him and gave him an assignment to force a new gangster, Brett Collins, to give him his contacts and make sure he doesn't think he can take over his territory. To get Matt to do it, they threatened Brigitte. A great read. Lots of action and adventure.

This was the first book I have read by Selena Black and was really looking forward to getting stuck into it and I wasn’t disappointed.
Matt Harris is due to be released from prison where he has managed to keep his head down despite his reputation which kinda made him a target inside. Unfortunately just before he is to be released he is involved in a fight as part of his release condition is that he agrees to be part of a new initiative/counselling program.
Fresh from college and somewhat naïve Brigitte has taken the job as a junior counsellor. This is where she comes across Matt and things progress from there.
Although less of a bad boy than the title suggests Matt is quite a likeable character but his past might just come back to haunt him by put him and Brigitte in some dangerous situations.
I will admit that the book starts out a bit slow but it worth continuing. I will be looking out for more from this author for sure.

Enforcer by Selena Black
“Bad Boy Romance”
Matt Harris spent 4 years of his life in prison due to an assault charge. He is now out and he has entered a government run program to help him stay away from the life he led before. It is really hard when the gang sends someone to check him out, and lures him into doing one more job for him. The government program has them training for a new job, meeting with trained counselors and setting them up in an apartment.
Brigitte Sanderson has just received this new job as counselor in this government run program. Her first client is Matt. Matt is the total opposite from what she expects and he wastes no time sweet talking her. When she had told her friend about her new job, the friend warned her that since the inmates is without female companionship that he would fall hard for Brigitte. She did not believe her friend, till she met Matt that is.
This is wonderful romantic, suspense filled book. For sure it is written for the oven 18 age group. This is a well written book and gives a reader insight into the gang world.

Great Read!
Reality bites when you know the one thing that happened could have been avoided if someone had just spoken up. Getting feet back on solid ground and looking for a new life has its perks but an unexpected visit puts it on hold. The past has come knocking and not only have they been watching they also have a true threat to you. Things get dicey and serious when you're sucked in once again and can't find a way out. Can you save the one you care about and get out alive?Things may not see a hapy ending this time.
Fantastic book! sucked me right in. Couldn't put it down but tried, I had to pick it right back up when it got intense to find out what happened next. Of the few books I've read by Selena Lawrence I have to give this one a six plus plus. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy for a honest review.

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and I really enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this book is: a man released from prison after serving four years (Matt Harris), a female government counselor who falls for the bad boy (Brigitte Sanderson), drama, intrigue, suspense, danger, twists & turns, action, drug trafficking/dealing, gangs, crime, attractions, blackmail, threats, warnings, fighting, injuries, betrayal, murder, guns blazing, knives, lust, emotional feelings, love and erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written. The characters are quite well developed with emotional feelings according to the situation they find themselves in. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a well written Bad Boy Romance with a HEA.

This was a good book, it held my attention and the characters were interesting and believable. It was easy to cheer for Matt Harris the ex-con who has been released into a working program to help him stay on the straight and narrow path to normal life. Brigitte Sanderson, a 22- year old college graduate becomes Matt's counselor and the object of his affections.

"The tingling flutter rippled through her, and her breathing slowed as he moved right up to her, his eyes flickering across her body."

"A kiss crushed her lips, but it was over in an instant as the caress of an eager mouth began to slide lower on her body."

I voluntarily read this, advanced readers copy and this review is my own opinion.

I really love it when an author gets the balance between bad boy and good guy just right. I don't really care why he's bad, but he has to have personal honor and integrity, 'cause a jerk's just bad news. Matt may be a criminal but he has honor and integrity in spades. And Brigitte, while young, sweet, and a little bit naive still has a backbone of steel that makes her a worthy partner for Matt. I enjoyed reading all of the twists and turns that led to the dramatic finale. This was the first book by this author that I've read, but I will be looking for more.

What do you do when you can't get away from your past? Anything necessary.

Matt is trying to rebuild his life. 4 years in prison opens your eyes to a lot. Matt is in a release program that offers him a place to stay while he gets his life back on track but he discovers so much more. Brigette is a junior counselor at the release program and it's obvious the chemistry between her and Matt. After a night out together the start something great but Matt's past won't leave him alone and now they've threatened the most important thing Brigette. so he will do what ever it takes to keep her safe even walking away. Will these to have a chance?

Matt & Brigitte! What can I say? I really enjoyed this book. Not a long read but thankfully not a really short one either. I had no idea what to expect otherwise than it's a bad boy romance. I can't get enough of bad boys... haha. There were a few twist I didn't see coming so this kept me on my toes. It's a love story but also has some action in it. I like how she didn't just write in Matt and Brigittes POV but also other characters. It has an epilogue that really ties everything together that I enjoyed too.

This is the first book that I have read by Selena Black. She sets the story up nicely from the beginning. Matt has a history that has gotten him into trouble. Once his released from prison he is trying to make a go of his life but trouble finds him. Brigitte is his case worker that has very caring heart. She gets mixed up in that trouble with Matt. Can they get out of that trouble and still make a go together? Will have to read to find that out. A wonderful read.

What an interesting twist on the BB ex con genre!! Matt and Brigette were well written, interesting characters that I found myself really cheering for. I really liked Brigette's relationship with not only her father, but here best friend, Sarah. We should all be so lucky!! The book moved quickly, was compelling thru out, and had just the right amount of sex and angst. Great job!!
