Harry Moon author Mark Andrew Poe never thought about being a children’s writer growing up. His dream was to love and care for animals, specifically his friends in the rabbit community.

Along the way, Mark became successful in all sorts of interesting careers. He entered the print and publishing world as a young man and his company did really, really well.

Mark became a popular and nationally sought-after health care advocate for the care and well-being of rabbits.

Years ago, Mark came up with the idea of a story about a young man with a special connection to a world of magic, all revealed through a remarkable rabbit friend. Mark worked on his idea for several years
before building a collaborative creative team to help bring his idea to life. And Harry Moon was born.

In 2014, Mark began a multi-book print series project intended to launch Harry Moon into the youth marketplace as a hero defined by a love for a magic where love and ‘DO NO EVIL’ live. Today, Mark continues to work on the many stories of Harry Moon. He lives in suburban Chicago with his wife and his 25 rabbits.

Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC.

This comic seems to be part of a series - one I've never heard of before. The main character is a boy named Harry who has magical powers. His sidekick is a talking rabbit. They both live in the town of Sleepy Hollow and have to fight against the mayor who seems to serve the devil. In this case, the mayor plans a special snow sculpture (I'm sure he meant ice but when the plan was revealed they actually talked of snow) in the shape of the headless rider. But then stuff goes wrong, just like Harry knew it would, and the town needs saving.

I must say that I was not really impressed and even skimmed parts. I know this is for younger readers but that doesn't mean a writer should just mash together some standard tropes. We have a place that is well known for magic and evil (Sleepy Hollow), which actually is what made me decide to read this. We have a boy with "a shock of black hair" (really?) and some magic powers, named Harry of all things (seriously, why does it always have to be Harry?). The rabbit was kind of funny as an idea. Of course, the mayor is the evil one, seeking more and more power etc (even the name is kinda lame). And there is a bully in school who kinda torments Harry but also kinda wants to be his friend on some level.

The art, too, was not to my liking. Weird proportions and the style itself was neither pretty nor distinct (I can forgive not liking art if it at least has an edge).

All in all quite disappointing and bland.

'Snowman' by Joyce Magnin with art by Rebecca P. Minor is based on the Harry Moon characters created by Mark Andrew Poe. Harry is a young magician who lives in Sleepy Hollow with his friend Rabbit, a talking and sometimes invisible rabbit.

Mayor Maximus Kligore is not a nice guy. That is why he is hanging out in a graveyard in the dead of night trying to get a spell to work. He leaves in frustration, but he has unknowingly unleashed something from his past.

Meanwhile, Mayor Kligore has decided to recreate the town's headless horseman statue in a giant ice statue. That and his strange magic dabbling has Harry and his friends worried about what will happen next.

It seems like an interesting premise, but it's just not a very good story. It's brought down by the art which is pretty mediocre. I sometimes had a hard time telling some of the kids apart.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Rabbit Publishers, Diamonds Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

This was a pretty good book that had lots of action and good details to describe the characters and what they were doing. The setting of this book is the small creepy town of Sleepy Hollow where everyday is almost like Halloween. In this book the town mayor named Max Kligimore wanted to get the whole town to help him make a snow statue of the headless horseman or soon to be snowman. So after he got the build done a dead man came to life and took Kligimores staff and brought the Snowman statue to life. Kligimore new that he couldn't defeat the dead man Lazarus on his own without the staff so he got a kid named Harry Moon to help. He asked Harry to turn Lazarus to dust and get his staff back. Harry did that and turned the staff to dust as well. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes the book Sleepy Hollow by Rip man Winkle or any other book by Mark Andrew Poe.

Welcome to Sleepy Hollow where there is magic everywhere . When the mayor announces the worlds largest snowman , the residents of town are thrilled . When the town makes a perfect replica of the headless horseman . Something is going to go awry as the massives snow sculpture comes to life and Harry Moon must figure out how it happened . Harry must battle Sleepy hollows newest villian Lazarus . Will Harry win or will Sleep Hollow be destroyed by the headless horseman .

The characters in this book are well written . The mayor is a bad guy who is in the graveyard trying spells at midnight . You know he is evil but you wish he could maybe be just a tiny bit more evil . Harry is a cool kid, who can work magic . He is a good kid and wants to do good and keep Sleepy Hollow safe The characters are cute and you will really like them and cheer for them .

They call this a graphic novel but i call it more a comic. It is great for your middle school kids its not that scary . The drawings are great and the author takes us on an adventure through the streets of Sleepy Hollow. It is a cute twist on the legend of Sleepy Hollow . This would be a great addition to your kids reading challenge this summer . Check it out

After receiving multiple books in this extensive franchise the publishers had labelled as graphic novels when they were anything but, I finally get an actual comic title. And you know what? It's still not much cop. The story just plods on, leaving the tenth-rate Harry Potter kid in the background too much as he waits to see what latest evil is happening to his Hallowe'en-themed home town. The narrative shows poor editing in its flow, as well, so one page can seem to repeat the one before, or have jumped a couple of spreads. I'll be kind and give it two stars for a distinctive (if not completely pretty) look and reduced palette, but as a read this is as disposable and uninteresting as the main novels. I certainly don't intend to come back for more.

The positive: It was a quick read!

The negative: It's not very good. Also, I don't get why it had to be Harry Moon. His siblings are Honey and Harvest (although the baby is not seen at all in the graphic novel) Moon. You can't just decide to start a theme with names after baby 2.

The magic is ridiculous. It's all Abracadabra.

Also, snow and ice are not interchangeable.

Also, not sure why Harry Moon is unhappy about Sleepy Hollow being all about Halloween, that's sounds awesome. I assume it's because this is lowkey (or maybe highkey?) evangelical.

I personally was rooting for the villain. He got screwed by the mayor, and he's obviously the better, more powerful baddie.

Snowman is a graphic novel in the Harry Moon series of middle grade novels about a young magician who lives in Sleepy Hollow.

This was my first Harry Moon book. I was a little worried since it wasn't the first in the series. But I found that the story held up well on it's own. Though it has interested me in checking out more of the series.

The artwork was great quality, and consistent throughout the book.

A book meant for younger readers. It was enjoyable, but I loved the artwork in particular the cover under the dust jacket was just really cool. Not my favorite read of all time, but a nice quick read to give me a break from the 500 plus page books I tend to read.

This is a really cute adventure story. I read it with my 9 year old and she loved it.
