Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB) is a philosophical organization based on the spiritual teachings of all religions and dedicated to a process of inner development under the guidance of a spiritual teacher.

In the Indian language, Radha Soami means ‘lord of the soul’, satsang describes a group that seeks truth, and Beas refers to the town near which the main centre is located in northern India. There are a number of other contemporary movements that use the name ‘Radha Soami’ but Radha Soami Satsang Beas is not associated with any of them.

I read the 1984 edition which I assume is basically the same as the older edition of this book.
"Philosophy of the Masters is a compelling book which was written by a realized Master, Sawan Singh. This book describes the spiritual practice of Surat Shabd or Sant Mat which is purported to be the highest spiritual science. The focus of this practice is to attune oneself to the spiritual current of the sound and light of "God" which is Shabd, or the outward manifestation of "God". It should be noted that the practice of Surat Shabd can only be accomplished through one's initiation and direction of a Living Master or Teacher. This is the rub. One cannot practice Surat Shabd based on one's faith by worshiping a non living Master or Religious Icon. Where and how one finds a Living Master seems to be a near impossible task and a real frustration let alone the question if one is spiritually ready for a Master. How does one really know that a "Master" is really the embodiment of the spirit of "God" or if one is being led in the wrong direction.
Although this is a very provocative and compelling book which raises very cogent points about the practice of Surat Shabd, it would appear not to be the most practical spiritual path to pursue.

Spirituality has the highest and purest aim and one should not deviate from it . The love we have for God should not be dissipated by becoming immersed in unnecessary worldly pursuits. Everyone knows that with out goals we don't get anywhere but into vicious circles . The goal that's is going to get us out of the vicious circle of our own limiting habits is the goal of Spirituality . What is spirituality ? It is the science of converting what our scriptures tell us about God to personal inner experience . The one essential ingredient of spirituality is contact with what in Christianity is known as "The Holy Spirit" and which Buddists call "The Tao " , Hindus call "Shabd" and other creeds refer to by various other names . The Spirit is the source and flow of all love and life which we , as souls , need to be healthy , happy and achieve our ultimate goal of Realizing the God who is described in our scriptures.

I am a Christian who wanted more from my church than just going to church hearing about and reading about God. I wanted the same experiences that the Prophets who are talked about in the Bible had. I felt like I would not be able to live a happy healthy life without that experience . I began to pray for the company of those who in whom teh Spirit is fully manifest and functional who could teach me to manifest and submit my ego to that Holy Spirit and transform me into a Lover of God -one of God's beloved children like so many people who were considered Godly in the bible . I came across Sawan Singh's book "Spiritual Gems" which had a lot of helpful details about the practice of mediation on the Holy Spirit and found he also wrote this book .

Basically Spiritual Gems is a technical "how to" manual and Philosophy of the Masters (Volume II) is about doing the mediation with love. I found that unless one practices with love one can not sustain oneself on this arduous path which requires purity of heart and hard work. So this book has been very helpful in understanding the spiritual type of love and how pure and superior it is to worldly loves. I found both books to be safe , trustworthy and highly beneficial for advancement towards the highest and purest Goal available to humans.
