In this exciting continuation to the True Mates Series, Human Liaison Cady Gray and Second-in-Command Nick Vrost are drawn together after a night of passion.
Despite growing up in the world of the New York Lycan clan, Cady Gray still feels like an outsider looking in. She’s built walls around her, to protect herself and the clan, harboring a deep secret from her past that threatens her future. The clan’s sexy Beta shifter has always intrigued her, but he’s kept his distance, that is, until one innocent dance.
Nick Vrost has wanted Cady for years, but kept his own desires at bay for the sake of the clan and his family. As second-in-command of the New York clan and heir to the Vrost fortune, it was his duty to marry a suitable high-ranking Lycan female and produce a child to carry on the line. After ignoring Cady for years, one touch ignites something he can no longer control and he may have to choose between family obligation and his long-simmering desire for the quiet beauty.
When a near-catastrophic event forces them to confront their attraction, they find that one night simply isn’t enough. However, the New York clan is facing its biggest challenge yet and incidents attacking Lycans in the city are increasing. Cady’s life is put in danger, but evidence begins to link her to the attacks. But, who is behind all these threats and will the Lycans survive?
Blood Moon is a full-length (over 60,000 words) werewolf paranormal romance with explicit love scenes, naughty language, and shifter suspense action with guaranteed HEA and no cliffhangers!
Although it works as a standalone romance story, this book takes place in the True Mates series. Though not necessary, I recommend you read “Fated Mates” before this book to understand the world and the main plot.
Yes, I am once again continuing a series that I hated the first book of. I have problems, I know. In my defence, this series was a super quick/easy read, and this book was an improvement on the first.
The characters in this book were actually generally pretty likeable. Funnily enough, Alex, from Fated Mates, had more personality in this book as a side character than he did in his own book. Go figure. Cady and Nick actually had personalities, and they had chemistry (and yearning!). Nick was a stoic asshole obsessed with 'duty', but he was still quite loveable, and Cady was a smart and capable character, for the most part. However, the beginning of their 'relationship' (there was yearning beforehand, but the first real event) was incredibly uncomfortable and very much bordering on rape. Yes, she did consent, but it felt iffy as to whether she had any choice or really felt comfortable. So, I will say that scene made me very uncomfortable. The blood moon thing was kind of like the full moon thing in H20 (for those that have seen the show), but for adults (and way more problematic).
Once again, the writing wasn't great, and it really needed editing. Tenses were often confused, and once again there was a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. Not to mention, the author seemed confused with their own timeline/plot, which was very jarring and off putting.
Look, this book still wasn't great, although it was an improvement on the first. And I will say I'm now kind of hooked, not because this was good, but because an overarching plot for the series was introduced and I want to know what happens. I have a problem, sue me.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋💋 Nick and Cady are two wonderful Characters. I loved them in the first book , to bring them together in the second and in such a way is genius. They were made to be together . Of course you have the romance of the two main people , but you also have what I Call the back story , the contention between the Lycans and the Witches . This runs throughout every book and I can’t wait to see where it goes . Roll on book 3 , Grant, the boss .
I'm really liking these stories! I like the idea of True Mates, and how they have a certain smell that only they can smell. Nick and Cady have another special gift where they can share dreams. I was anxious to read about Nick after reading the first book in this series, so I'm glad he was next! He's got the strong silent type thing going on, and the love scenes in this one were much steamier than the first but I still wanted more. I was interested in this from start to finish but it still felt rushed or forced in some areas, and I would like more depth into the characters minds and what they are thinking throughout. I do have a bone to pick, and if I didnt like this I wouldn't even waste my time but since I am interested in these characters and I think these books could lead to some really great ones in the future I am taking the time
Nick and Cady were so obviously True Mates they just needed to acknowledge their feelings for each other. I like how true mates have a certain smell, that is important to their mate, that only their mate can smell. Nick is the strong silent type and he has been craving Cady from afar for years and it was great to see them come together. Cady thought that Nick hated her. Nick's grandfather wants him to settle down and start a family, he is pressuring him to find a good lycan girl. Cady is hiding a secret, that she knows will ruin her chance with Nick if he finds out. When Cady is kidnapped and her life is in danger Nick can't help but admit his feelings and do everything he can to rescue her. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Not as good as book one to me but still a very good read with lots going on and a nasty surprise showing up. My only gripe was everyone believing Cady was guilty. Grant the alpha, has known her for 10 years and thought of her as a little sister. Cady forgiving Nick straight away after he has said and done such horrible things to her was not acceptable. I hated what he did. Nick should have had to fight to get Cady’s forgiveness. Would have made it easier to forgive him. Now if I read more books they will be tainted by my dislike of his behaviour. Really needed proofreading as there are just too many errors.
I adored this couple! They were so sweet and so much misunderstanding kept them apart over the years. The author really drew me into their love story from the first awkward interactions to the steamy heat when it seemed they finally had found their moment. I enjoyed each twist in this tale, especially the ultimate betrayal that almost separated them for good. I don’t know who the author will bless with a mate next, but I can’t wait to find out.
Loved the twists. I hope the author gives us some glimpses of the children when they are born and end series with an twenty year glimpse into the future
Confession I've read these in the wrong order and read the future generations first. After completing those I had to go back to the beginning. I've loved those I've read. I like the characters and how they do feel like a family. Even better, I still have loads to read. Super PR
I was asked to read this book and give an honest review. So happy to be asked to read such a great book. This is a continuing saga of the New York werewolf clan. It is standalone but is better read as the 2nd in the series. Nick and Cady have known each other for 10 years but have remained professional to each other during that time. At Alynna and Alex's wedding, they touch for the very first time. Alynna and Alex are True Mates - are Nick and Cady? Nick is a werewolf and Cady is human so that poses an issue. Humans and werewolves produce human babies.
Nick's grandfather is pushing for him to mate but as the 2nd to the Alpha, he has pushed that idea out of his head. His grandfather begins to threaten him so Nick tries to do what is required of him. All the while, Nick is unable to keep Cady out of his head and then the dreams start.
Cady has always liked Nick but thought that he was cold towards her. But have they touch, she begins to have dreams. I don't want to give too much away but let's say it gets interesting.
Then the threats to the clan begin again but where does Cady fit in all of it. Did she do the dastardly dead or not? People died this time and the Alpha wants to go to the council but what is he to do if not that? Who is really threatening the werewolves and why? Such a great mystery. The answer as to who is behind the threats to the werewolves becomes evident as well as Cady finding out that she has family that she didn't know about. How do they fit into the threats or are they the threat? Such a great story with many twists and turns. The Blood Moon is what seals the deal - sort of speak. Read it and enjoy. I loved it. On to #3.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Nick and Cady have liked each other from afar for years. They’ve kept their distance because she’s human and he’s lycan. Certain things are expected of Nick from his family like marrying a lycan female and having cubs. He knows he can never have her so he stays away. Cady knows she cant have anything with him and although she knows of lycans she doesn’t feel its possible. Until one day she has to prevent Nick from going crazy on the Blood Moon and sleeps with him to keep him at bay with his wolf. Cady’s estranged mother finds her and tells her she’s a witch. Cady has difficulty with this and keeps it to herself because if anyone finds out they wont want her around anymore. Witches and lycans have a strained relationship. Nicks parents were killed by witches. However, things get dicey when Cady is framed and Nick finds out she’s a witch…even if she doesn’t have powers. He treats her horribly at that point…I mean really bad. She’s kidnapped/forced to leave with her mother. It’s a race against time to find Cady because she’s in danger. Can Cady forgive Nick? Will they find out the truth behind the attacks and clear her name?
I have to admit I enjoyed this much better than book 1. There are parts it felt really rushed and slightly choppy in parts but otherwise it was a good read. I swear Cady forgave way too easily. I mean really…if he loved her as much as he claimed you’d think he’d let her explain or heck defend herself but he was just too angry at the time. He used her and said horrible things to her. So, really besides that I enjoyed the book.
This could’ve been great. But he didn’t love her since he first met her. He screwed other women. Once one mate meets the other they shouldn’t even be able to get it up for anybody else ever again. It was a betrayal to mates and everything they stand for. I have hope for your other books since the one before this, the mates we true to each other even split apart and not bonded yet.
My God, and the stabbing scene was so lame! She didn’t make him pay for calling her a whore and hate screwing her while accusing her of things. He and her most of her friends never even gave her a chance and just decided she was guilty. Then as soon as she recovered from the stabbing two seconds later while someone announced she was going to have his baby they declared their love. It was very corny and unrealistic. Also any woman that lets a man talk to her like that and call her those names and takes him back just like that is a doormat. It’s not attractive.
No magic but witches... The story is okay but would've been way better if there was some type of paranormal going on. They can't even tell when someone is pregnant. and it seems the Alphas are just title fillers with no power over the pack. I was hoping for some encounters with Frankie in this one, I'm sure she's going to be the unknown alpha Cade was supposed to find.
Cady has been a human surrounded by Lycans her entire life. She has hidden her feelings for Nick, even from herself, with work, work and more work. But when her past comes back to haunt her will the Lycans have her back? In Blood Moon, the second installment in Alicia Montgomery’s True Mates series, Nick and Cady’s distant and somewhat frosty relationship heats up. I love the dichotomy of Cady as she is warm and distant simultaneously. She is friendly and quite competent but she is stiff, especially with Nick. And he is equally stiff, with everyone. But when they touch and sparks fly, I love the intimacy that seems to spring from nowhere. Ms. Montgomery gives us a woman with secrets in Cady. And Cady doesn’t want to lose what she has so she fights to keep her life and her friends. In spite of her need to keep her secrets, she can’t stay from Nick, the Beta, which I think is great. I love seeing both Nick and Cady fight their mutual attraction. This story is well written. And I think best read in chronological order. I loved that Ms. Montgomery gave us strong characters and a wonderful storyline. I am looking forward to seeing more in this world she has crafted.
Nick and Cady were the Lycan Alphas most right-hand partners. Nick, his Beta was in charge of protecting him and his family as well as his duties to the clan. Cady, Human Liaison Extraordinaire, was in charge of the Lycan Alphas whereabouts, meetings, business, etc. she was more than his secretary. She was his date to events. She was like a little sister to him! Nick always found something appealing about Cady. He didn't act on it because of his duty to the Alpha and position in the clan. Cady knew Nick was attractive but never saw more than a frosty sidekick/protector. Something is going on now. People are getting hurt and fingers point to Cady. Can they figure out who the bad guys are before more people are hurt? Is Cady good or bad? This gripping tale will suck you and and leave you on baited breathe as you race to the finish to find out whodunnit! Will Cady get her happy ending? Come find out! This is book #2 in the series. You'll want to pick up the first book as it does provide background for this one. A great read!
Cady and Nick’s story is action packed! Who knew sweet Cady was harboring secrets?! Here’s a quick recap and my two cents.
Quick recap:
This book takes place where Alynna and Alex’s story ends. There are more attacks on Lycans and they are trying to figure out who is after them. And when Cady and Nick are trapped in a hotel during a blood moon, there is only one option to ensure the Lycan doesn’t go on a killing spree.
My two cents:
I enjoyed this story! It was a great continuation from where book 1 left off.
Cady and Nick had been harboring feeling for each other for years. When they danced at Alynna’s wedding, they touched for the first time and started to form an unbreakable bond.
There are some exciting sex scenes. Like in book one, they might be relief worthy if you’re in the mood.
This is an exciting series and I’m excited to read the next book. Give this a try if you like fantasy books. Happy reading y’all!
At their friend’s wedding reception, human liaison, Cady Gray and pack beta Nick Vrost had a dance that meant more to them than anyone watching could know but species differences kept them apart. Days later, Nick and Cady couldn’t stop think of each other, Nick’s grandfather summoned him to the family home and told if he doesn’t marry a lycan female and produce an heir he’d lose his legacy. While visiting her dad’s grave on the anniversary of his death, Cady’s approached by a woman she hadn’t seen since childhood.
Later that day, Cady’s seriously hurt in an accident. As she heals, Nick uses every excuse he can to be close to her. Days later patrons are poisoned at a lycan bar Cady frequents. Soon after a bomb is detonated at Cady’s work. As the team searches for the culprit, they’re stunned when all signs and evidence point to Cady, they can’t help but wonder if she’s involved but Nick actually accuses her. Rating: 4.25stars
Nick and Cady have been around each other for ten years but things start to change after they dance together at a wedding. They are attracted to one another but Nick’s grandfather is pushing for him to mate with another lycan from a prominent family. Cady has been taking care of this lycan clan since her father passed away and will do anything for them. What she does during the blood moon sets a series of events in motion and it certainly gets interesting when her mother suddenly pops back into her life. My biggest complaint is how Cady instantly forgave Nick for being such a cruel jerk….she really should have made him grovel a bit. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and although it is fine as a stand-alone, I think it is worth reading the first book an the series as well to get a better idea of the characters.
I was hooked on this series from the very first book, and this one is a wonderful second installment. We meet Nick and Cady in the first book and their attraction is obvious from the start. Nick is a hard nut to crack, but Cady is his soft spot and Nick is hardwired for protecting the people he cares about above all else. Their path to their HEA is filled with action and suspense, and quite a bit of steamy love scenes in the best "True Mates" way.
Alicia Montgomery writes intricately complex characters with great emotional depth. Each book is a beautiful standalone, but together they weave a story that immerses the reader in this wonderful environment and keeps you coming back for more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Loved the second book of the True Mates series! I'd been dying to know how Cady and Nick would get together from book one...okay fine. As I'd read Book 5 first, I'd been wondering how Nick and Cady got together then too. The great twists and turns of the story feel ingrained in the overall mythology, rather than tacked on (as some series are wont to do) just to add some jazz hands.
As this series expands - nothing more about that, because spoilers sweetie - I can't wait to see how things go. And, of course, how everything ties in with one of my favorites PA's, Book 5's "Taming the Beast"!
Definitely recommended. Oh, and you can absolutely read this as a stand-alone. But maybe start with book one first. You'll thank me later.
Another book I could not put down! Nick and Caddy's live story was a long one in the making. Nick has wanted Caddy since he laid eyes on her 10 years ago, Caddy wasn't as quick since she was human. When they finally touched while dancing at Alynna and Alex's wedding, their bond formed. When they were stuck in a hotel during a freak snowstorm during the Blood Moon, Caddy gave into her sexual pull to Nick to keep him from shifting. Nick didn't want to do it that way, but he couldn't stop himself. Unbeknownst to them another True Mate bond was formed. Caddy is framed for some attacks against Lycans, then kidnapped by her mother, a witch. When the team realizes she was framed and kidnapped, they find her and go to rescue her, alongside their new allies, witches.
Well, they say that true love never runs smooth and that’s certainly the case for Nick Vrost, Beta to Alpha Grant Anderson. He’s under orders to find a nice Lycan girl to marry and have pups with before his grandfather isn’t around ant more. The big problem is that he’s in love with a human, Cady Gray, who is the Human Relations Officer for Fenrir, the company they both work for. Then Nick and Cady are caught out in the countryside by an unexpected snow storm during a Blood Moon. This is the time when wolves take full control of the partnership and everybody and everything around them is in danger. Cady is Nick’s only lifeline. And this is only the start of this story! I have to say that it’s a story that pulls you in and keeps you on edge. Good!
This was just a no go for me. I didn't mind the relationship- I like reading books where the relationship changes, and what makes it switch. I wasn't a big fan of the fact Cady turns out to be a witch. I felt like it took away from a werewolf-human relationship aspect. My biggest issue that made me not like this book was the night of the Blood Moon. It's a full moon where werewolves have no control, they cage themselves to keep humans safe from slaughter. But the alternative to killing is sex. Nick is caught out with the Blood Moon, and to prevent him from murdering every human in the hotel, Cady 'has' to have sex with him until he's too tired. Nope nope nope. Way to remove any sense of control, it felt very lacking in consent (like coercision). Would I recommend it? Nope.
Blood moon is the second installment to the True mates series . If you've read the first one and loved it , you will loved this one even more . Cady and Nick are similar in terms of alot of things, they're both hardworking, loyal and passionate .Nick seems like a hard case to crack but throughout the story, you'll fall in love with him more as you learn more about his past . Though halfway through the story i felt like wringing his neck,he came through at the end . Cady ...the girl with the heart of gold .She's so forgiving she amazed me sometimes . Her true heritage creates a twist and plays a huge part in the story . This book was a page turner and i could'nt get enough of it :)
this book felt quite repetitive to book 1. It is also getting boring that these people can never guess they are fated mates until the lady is pregnant. I mean… they know everything about fated mates but never realize it?!? Anyway, don’t question things when you are reading this one to enjoy. Spice is on point with this one though.
I was so tempted to skip this book to read book 3 with Grant as the main love interest finally!! We all know who his mate is at this point but Grant, being Grant, deserves the best. I need his HEA!
This is a hard series for me to grade...I have found the plots interesting, but am having challenges with insta lust sex/borderline consent when Alpha Males who are generally nice/supportive get hit with True Mate lust. I am also having trouble with all the Heroines in the series who are also generally confident, capable and nice and then suddenly flip to nervous, or reactive pissy drama queens when stressed, so I find I am reading the books for the stories, but I am skimming over the sex stuff and the pissy scenes.
Plot- or character-driven? A mix Strong character development? It's complicated Loveable characters? Yes Diverse cast of characters? No Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes
Rally unhappy with how Nick handled the accusations against Cady. It’s logical I guess, with his background, but I hated how he talked to her. Then she so easily accepted and forgave him. Content Warnings Graphic: Death, Sexual content, Blood, Kidnapping, Injury/Injury detail Minor: Car accident, Death of parent, Pregnancy
I absolutely loved Cady and Nicks love story, I giggled a little and cried a little. It had an amazing story line, and she wrote it so well that I could picture the characters and places. I love werewolves, and shape shifters, and all things Paranormal. Everyone should read this amazing love story. Now I'm going to grab the other books in this series because I'm sure they will be just as good as this one.
Cady has worked for the new york pack forever.. she met nick 10 years ago and thought he was hot and hunky. nick wanted her the first day he saw her but she was grants baby sister and best friend. not sister really just but close to it. when they r caught in a hotel during the red moon the only thing that can save him from changing and killing is sex, so who is she to say no.. witches and all kinds of stuff gets in their way.. cute book
There has not been any "true mates" born in 200 years and now there has been a daughter born who finds her true mate within days of finding out about her Lycan heritage. This is the second in the series of the True Mates Series where another couple find their "true mates" and start another generation of pups coming into the pack. The whole Lycan world has had trouble reproducing, now maybe it's a new phase for lycans.
