AUSTIN

She’s this enigma.
A beautiful mess.
A brilliant mind with a sharp tongue.
Our first meeting, she stopped me in my tracks.
But she wants nothing to do with me.

CASSIE

He’s only a guy.
Gorgeous with a million-dollar smile . . .
But still, a guy.
I can ignore the unfamiliar softness of his brown eyes.
I can ignore the way he walks, stops, and stares as though he’s waiting for something.
He’ll lose interest. They always do once they know they’ll get nothing from me . . .

Michele may not be widely known yet, like she should, but her work is some of the best I've read. Her work is thoughtful, entertaining and consuming and this doesn't let you down in any of those elements! We finally get to see Austin and Carrie's story. The gorgeous Austin Rutledge is exactly how you'd expect him to be having read Jule's POV and Carrie's story is heartbreaking, thought provoking and uplifting.

If you haven't read the From the Wreckage trilogy, then you can still read this, but seriously read FTW trilogy, then West, then this and you're guaranteed hours and hours of first class reading.

Worth the wait

I've been a fan of the Rutledge boys from day one. This time, Austin's story doesn't disappoint.
The character development of Cassie and Austin were so spot on that I could feel what they were feeling. About 3/4 of the way through the book I had to put it down out of fear for the twist that I knew was coming. I didn't know what the twist was but I feared my heart wouldn't be able to take it.
5 hours later I couldn't sleep and I knew I had to face my fears.
Ah, Michele, thank you for always providing me with books that I can cry over, laugh through, and toss and turn about. This heart is more than satisfied.

Wonderful story!

Since I picked up the first book of this series I fell in love with all the characters!
The story and the characters are real, with flaws, with great moments and bad ones.
You don't want to miss this book!
I totally recommend it!

Austin is gorgeous

This book has been sitting on my kindle for a while don't know why because I loved From The Wreckage.

Austin is as gorgeous as West and he loves Cassie fiercely. Cassie is a girl who has suffered a lot and is hard for her to trust aince she was betrayed by those she loved. Austin showed her is possible to love and trust again and together they develop a beautiful relationship.

Everyone got the ending they dederved specially our HEA for Austin and Cass.

I was looking forward to Austin's story but at the end I was not a big fan of it.
I thought it was a bit over the top on the drama and the only person who said something that should have been considered was West when he confronted Cassie about her situation... she was putting everyone around her at risk.
Still... her ignoring what was happening and not being completely honest with people around her, being that Emil was that dangerous, did not help at all.

I started this journey with Jules and West's story. Austin and Cassie's story is just as great! This book is not at all what I expected. It was darker, sexier and saucier. I was more enthralled with each chapter. I highly recommend reading this work of art! Start with From the Wreckage though.. ;)

The story it self was good but I find myself skimming almost into the end I just felt like it was kind of slow and then when the action happen it wasn’t that intense but it was a beautiful story and the Hero was so sweet with Cassie so I give it a 3.68

Terrifying story...and I couldn’t put it down. I’m ignoring the few typos...definitely an improvement from the other books in this series. The ending was a little rushed, so no 5 star rating...but still an emotional ride.

I have sat on this review for long enough. I have tried and tried to think of cleaver words to express how much it meant to me, but they never came me. It was one of those books I absolutely could not wait to start. And once I did, I took my time. Lots of time. (Apparently, the older you get, sleep comes first...no matter how amazing the story is.) . It left me happy and sad and all emotional when I finished. So many emotions. So many feels.

But ya'll!! This book was so amazing...so beautiful...so heartbreaking. I literally hurt for all the kids that have to live the way Cassie did growing up. There are some mean ol' parents out there who don’t deserve the children they were blessed with. I just wanted to reach in a hug the crap out of her and let her know not all parents act this way or treat their kids with such distaste.

Now with all that being said, I loved every ounce of the story. The romance was sweet and fun...Cassie and Austin are breathtaking together...and the suspense of the story had me biting my nails. More than usual, of course. Miller really had me holding on and left me wondering until the very moment I thought I couldn't wait a second longer. I had to know. I needed to know. What was Cassie's past? What happened to her? I got to tell you, so much was hard to read. But I was not disappointed in the plot or how the story played out.

This series has been with me for a long time. Probably one of my most favorites of all time. I definitely saw a few stories poking their noses out for Miller to write, and I am hoping she does. But if this were the end, I'd say she has done a masterful job in giving us some brilliant characters and heart wrenching storylines. There has never been a time, within this series, that I didn't feel the story. Literally feel it. From the emotions of the tornado to the bloodshed within the pages of this one. It pulls you; it overcomes you. It is a genius series. 5 Stars!!

Isn't the first step to recovery admitting you have a problem? Well, I have a problem. I have become addicted to the Rutledge boys and Miller's writing. I enjoyed Austin and Cassie's story, but my heart does still belong to West. If only he were real and mine. *sigh*

Cassie's story repeatedly broke my heart. I really don't know how she was still so strong after everything she went through growing up. I am even more baffled by her callous mother. I will never understand how someone can treat a child, or any human being, like she treated Cassie.

Miller has an unbelievable talent for portraying the emotions of her characters. Every ounce of fear Cassie felt, I felt. I also felt Austin's frustration and anger and the love both of them felt towards each other.
