Dark-Hunter #26

Dragonsworn

Rate this book
There is nothing in the universe the cursed dragon, Falcyn, hates more than humanity . . . and in particular, Greek humans. In a war he wanted no part of, they systematically destroyed everything he’d ever cared for. Now he lies in seclusion, away from the world and waits for the day when evolution will finally rid him of the human vermin.

Medea was born the granddaughter of the Greek god Apollo, and among the first of his people that he cursed to die. But she will not let anyone rule her life. Not even her notorious grandfather. And when Apollo sends a new plague to destroy what remains of her people, she refuses to standby and watch him take everything she loves from her again.

This time, she knows of a secret weapon that can stop the ancient god and his army of demons. Once and for all. However, said device is in the hands of a dragon who wants nothing to do with politics, the gods, humanity, demons or Greek Apollites. And especially not her. He is the immovable object.

My enemy’s enemy . . .

When Apollo makes a strategic move that backfires, he forces Falcyn back into play. Now Medea either has the weapon she needs to save her people, or she’s unleashed total Armageddon. If she can’t find some way to control the dragon before it’s too late, Falcyn will be an even worse plague on the world than the one Apollo has set loose. But how can anyone control a demonic dragon whose sole birthright is total destruction?

It hurts to give Kenyon anything lower than 4 stars, because she has been my go-to author for over 11 years now. However, I can't give Dragonsworn anything higher than 2, because for the first time, I've seen how pretty 1-dimensional her characters are. At least, after Styxx's book, her characters have become cookie-cutter, and I'm tired of reading the same thing, just different characters, setting, and maybe plot.

I didn't realize that this series was a crossover to her Lords of Avalon books. Perhaps that was my fault for not reading up on that, but since it's labeled as "Dark Hunter" book, and majority of the characters are from her DH series, I didn't think anything of it. So when I started reading the book, I got very confused as who the hell half of these characters were when they got no introduction before hand. OH. THEY'RE LOA CHARACTERS. Right, right. How silly of me not to know.

I really love to sit down with Kenyon sometime and ask her how she decides to bring in characters that haven't been mentioned in almost nine books. For instance, Medea. Now, she's probably mentioned briefly in earlier books, but I can't remember since Kenyon waits a year to release books, and I don't have time to do a reread every year to catch up. Either way, the last time Medea was heavily featured was in Stryker's book. I have no real opinion of her. She is every other character in Kenyon's verse: broken, had massive trauma back in her previous life, snarky, "bad ass", and every other trope you can think of. I was actually quite bored with her.

Falcyn is another one of her tragic heroes...EXCUSE ME, "VILLAIN" with some tragic sob story that make them hard and unfeeling and generaly acerbic because well...that's what Kenyon does best is write the same tragic hero again and again. Which is upsetting because her characters used to have depth and personality and originality. Kyrian was different from Talon who was different Wulf who was different from Zarek (well so is everyone really), and so forth. They were all badass in their own way, but this dragon series was just no good when it came to the characterizations of the main man in charge.

The dialogue was contrite as hell. Her so called witty quips and banter are getting old. It's the same shit in every book of hers, and I'm at the point where I can't tolerate it anymore. I usually sped through the banter because I thought my face would get stuck from rolling my eyes so much. The plot was simple at best, but hey, at least it wasn't a goddamn rehash of Max's and Illarion's book, so there's the upside.

The only thing this book did was make me excited about Urian's book, but I'm not holding my breath. The twist with him was boring and unimaginative, and really, I expected better from Kenyon. Then again, I've expected a lot from her, and all she has shown me is that she should have ended this series years ago.

Falcyn (Katagaria Dragos) and Medea (Apollite/Daimon)

Ok, this book is a huge enigma.
The clearest character is Medea. We have met her in One Silent Night (Dark-Hunter #15) by Sherrilyn Kenyon . And she is the daughter of Stryker and Zephyra.
No big surprise there. No more surprises in the book about her.
Unfortunately, I never particularly liked Stryker and Zephyra and as a result I am not a fan of their daughter.

Medea will meet Falcyn. She will think that he is just a nasty dragon:

Medea would have made a comment had Falcyn not decided to lick the blood from his fingers. “They have these things called napkins, you know? Been around for thousands of years now. You should try one.”
Wiping the blood from his lips with his knuckle, he grinned at her. “A squeamish Daimon? Seriously? Besides, I like the taste of my enemy’s blood. It soothes me. Blood of my friends is even better, but they tend to get a little testy whenever I partake of my favorite delicacy.”

But despite the mixed first impression, Media and Falcyn will fall in love during a big adventure:

Her mother had always said her reckless heart would lead her astray.
Today it had led her straight to Falcyn Drakos. And even though she knew this was complete and utter insanity, she refused to back down.
“Make love to me, Falcyn.”

Well, let's talk about Falcyn. Everything you will learn about him in this book is a spoiler:

What is Falcyn?

Who is Falcyn's father?

How old is he?

When was Falcyn born?

And what is the dragonsworn that Falcyn has and everybody else wants?

Do you think that the quizzes are over? Let's move to what we learn for Maddor, Falcyn's son:

Who is Maddor?

Who is his father?

Who is his son?

And the cherry on the top is when Apollo wonders who is Acheron's father:
“Then who’s Acheron’s real father?”
“Only Apollymi knows.”
Morgen smiled at this newfound knowledge and what it signified. “And the Fates.”

And the final WTF strike is when someone dead reappears:

Well, this is a confusing book, maybe a bit tiring. I strongly recommend reading and not skipping the following books before you start this one:
1. Sword of Darkness (Lords of Avalon, #1) by Kinley MacGregor
2. Dragonbane (Dark-Hunter #25; Lords of Avalon, #4; Were-Hunter, #9, Hellchaser, #6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
3. Dragonmark by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

If you know Kenyon’s Dark Hunter world, the series can get very complicated but oh, so good!  Dragonsworn is the second installment of the Dragon Rising series set in the Dark-Hunter world (28th),  and part of the Lords of Avalon series.  Also, an anticipated read for me because Falcyn is not only a sexy dragon but the oldest Drakomai dragon with a dry humor. Not to mention the grouchiest dragon in this series. Seeing this guy get his HEA will be such a treat!

It took me forever to read this book, only because, I got sick and my summer schedules suck.  I will admit that it had its slow bits, especially the first half but the other half gets pretty exciting.  There are all kinds of “Luke, I am your father” type of moments, which left me awe struck and my heart pounding.

Falcyn is everything I expected.  He is all heart through and through despite his tough, grumpy persona.  He is totally kick ass, scary mofo, but super sweet and he is loyal to his dragon bones.  I’m glad he found his well deserved HEA in Madea.  She is just as kick ass and loyal as he is.  Their journey to another world was interesting, but I loved most the comradery between Falcyn, Madea, Maddor, Blaise, and Brogan.  Their snark made me laugh.  Like I mentioned there were times that the pace slowed for me but overall it was a good read.  I do advise that if it’s too slow, to hang on til halfway through the book.

Though this book focuses on Falcyn and Medea, it's your typical Kenyon MO novel to lead you to more questions and needing more stories of other characters in his world.  There’s so much more information with other characters, but the ones especially intriguing are the reveals about Urian, Pheobe, Maddor, and Apollymi.  Yes! Apollymi.  Is Kenyon finally setting up for her story? My thoughts were perhaps the connection between her, Acheron, and  Savitar will be revealed at every page I turned.   All valid question right? But the end leads my questions a whole different direction and it just about blew my mind.  I apologize if I speak and riddles, but it’s hard to say too much without giving any major spoilers.  Unfortunately, most of the Dark Hunter world requires you are up to date with the series or you’ll miss out on a lot.  As I said before with my previous reviews, every installment is worth your time.  With all that said, I will patiently wait for the next book.  I don’t care that it’s a convoluted and complicated long ass series.  I love this world and I can’t get enough of it!

That's it. I'm done spending over $20 on a Dark-Hunter book only to find it unbearable to read. The tone of her stories have fallen so far in quality they read more like a terrible B-movie on the SyFy channel.

The story pretty much sounds like a lot of this...
"I'm the baddest of the badasses. I came into this world angry, and oh yeah, you can bet your ass nothing has changed. You heard of so-and-so, well he's got nothing on my badass."
"Oh yeah, he wasn't exaggerating. Everybody feared him on a good day. And today was as bad as his badass."

The number of times I rolled my eyes during the non-stop corny one-liners probably damaged my eyeballs. As other readers have pointed out, no one has a unique voice. EVERYONE sounds like my made-up example above. There was a moment where I got confused because she didn't write who was saying a line and they all say the same shit so I had no clue who was talking.

And why oh why did she have to bring the Lords of Avalon storyline into the Dark-Hunters one. To get people to buy the LOA series? I read those and HATED them. They were cheesy romance novels that mention hymens as some strong barrier that must be thrusted against to break the ol' virgin seal. Seriously?

description

Now for some other annoying details:

Twice she says "pissed my rugs" as though that's the proper way to refer to someone peeing on your rug. Maybe this is correct somewhere in the world, but I've never heard it before. Then again, Kenyon still refers to cans of "whup ass" so who knows if it's just an outdated term.

And, after how many books (this is technically the 36th), she finally describes Simi's wings fully. That was one thing throughout the series she was never consistent about. She's referred to them as leathery like a bat several times in the past and I believe feathery once. In Simi's profile on the website, one of her assistance clarified for a fan that they were leathery. Now, because the Dabel Brothers keep drawing her wings as feathery, Kenyon finally feels the need to describe them a cop-out way to make all the leathery mentions still valid. They're now like mood rings. Happy Simi = feathery. Angry Simi = leathery. Whatever mood she's in, reading her has always annoyed me. The baby talk is just grating on me.

Now let's get onto the romance.
Falcyn: betrayed and hasn't trusted anyone for thousands of years.
Medea: betrayed and hasn't let anyone into her heart for eleven-thousand years.
Within HOURS after meeting, they're in love. HOURS! No character development, no believable apprehension towards one-another. Nope. Just insta-love. The entirety of the book takes place in one day!

Does she even try anymore? The entirety of the dragon-related stories hasn't been up to par with her older books. The last book (Dragonmark) was a full-on copy/pasted story. This one reads like it was written by a twelve-year-old boy (if you describe everybody as being badass, that makes NOBODY badass).

From here on out, after purchasing every single book and graphic novel Kenyon has written, she's ensured I will only be checking her out at the library. It's sad this is what has become of someone who was once an author I absolutely adored.

PopSugar 2019: 10.

First, let me say that I am the kind of person that can suspend their belief of reality really easy. This usually allows me to enjoy books where others don't. But, I have to say, I am highly disappointed in this book.

While others saw the info dump as something else. It was clear that this book was used largely to do nothing more than that. Dump tons of information on the reader. Instead of finding it great as others have, I found it to be too much and overwhelming.

I also do not like how so many of her series tend to be colliding into this one. Maybe they were always meant to, I don't care. All this serves to do is muddle what used to be a very clever and amazing book series.

The book before this one had such a large chunk of a previous book, that it had very little story in it. I was really hopping this one would be different, but it is clear now that left me disappointed. I know the books are meant to be read as 'stand alone' but they aren't anymore. With as much 'plot' progression that was in this book for the current 'story arc' there is no way this could be read as a stand alone book. Also, too much has happened for some of these characters for someone to read and really understand why things that go on in this book are important.

The only redeeming value of this book, and is NOT worth the huge price increase (Though, I doubt that the pricing is up to the author, so some slack there.), is the two main characters. They are well thought out, due in large part to the fact, that they were NOT new characters. Even then, there was way too much (and by way too much, I swear the author just copy and pasted in several places) I want to but I can't, etc etc etc.

I'm too invested in this series to not see it through to the end(at least for the moment), but after that I will probably never buy anything by this author again. This series just does not entice me the way it used to. Sad to say, but it seems Kenyon is going the way of so many other authors who run a series into the ground instead of ending it on a decent note. I could be wrong, only time will tell that, but so far...*shakes head*

2 Estrellas.

I felt like I had big gaps in the storyline. It's obvious to me that to really understand who's who and what's what (if you care that is), is to have read the spin off Lords of Avalon. Some of the books are part of the Dark Hunter series as well, so yeah...

Although Ms. Kenyon tries to fill in the gaps, personally I require more. So I will go and read/re-read the previous books. I felt that Acheron's and Simi's presence was a bit forced, as they have to do absolutely nothing with the plot.

Other than that I liked both Medea and Falcyn, and I enjoyed their humor.

The book ends with an intriguing cliffhanger.

¡Good job Falcyn!

Me gustaron ambos protagonistas.

Sefiní Phoebe, no te quiero. Escuchame Dios, Sherry, no me ignoren.

Plot: 3/5
Characterisation: 2/5
Prose: 3/5
How much I enjoyed it: 2/5

I swear I'm a masochist. After Dragonmark, I swore it would be the last DH book I'll read. But here I am, finally finishing Dragonsworn. Although, like Dragonmark which broke the record as the fastest SK book I've finished, this is the opposite. The slowest SK book I've finished.

I've finally figured out what bothers me about the DH books in this decade. It's the same repetition of plot cycles over and over again. Hero and/or heroines with a sad backstory (betrayal is a must), on a mission for something, band together with allies, battle enemies and rides towards sunset at least until the next book. The only thing different is throwing more mythology, ancient pantheon background info to make you confuse on who is who.

And that brings me to my next point. The characters are so one-dimensional like it's cookie cutter. I can't even differentiate who is who? Gone were the days where you can give me a dialogue and I can tell you who said it. It's a far cry from one of my favourite books Seize The Night where the main H/h Valerius and Tabby had strong personalities that you feel for them, like they're real. The ones in this book? You can swap the names and I won't even realise the error.

There's only so much Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the like references that you can stomach before it gets very old.

Unfortunately, this is not the last DH book I'll read because the next book will be about Urian. No matter how much I dread the book being way below my expectation, I'll probably still read it.

The way I see this series going, there won't be any new readers who will pick up the series based on the new books because they are just too confusing with meh characters. New readers might get hooked if they started from the beginning of the series. As for the current fans, you either get slowly disillusioned with the decline of the series or you hold on to it, reminding yourself of the good old days.

Falcyn is a Primordial Dragon/demi-God who has sworn to protect the birth of the world's egg from anyone that would try to take it as he hates humanity and everything else with it. When he asked by Stryker's Appolite Demon daughter Medea for help in saving her family from Apollo's curse, Falcyn reluctantly agrees only to end up in the last place he and his brother wanted to be at, Camelot. Will they be able to get home and save Medea's family or will they die in another realm? Read on and find out for yourself.

This was a pretty good read and a great installment of the dark hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. If you like the dark hunter series with were hunters and more with some romance, action and more, definitely check this book series out. This book and all of the rest of the dark hunter books are available at your local library and wherever books are sold.

I just felt this was lacking in plot. Two couples meet and 30 minutes later they are mated for life so to speak. In an evil land where the trees can attack and the water is explosive, not to mention the hordes of bad guys after them, they get separated from their party and go at it like bunnies. I just wasn't feeling it. I enjoyed the earlier Dark Hunter books much more.

I read some of the reviews on this book before I began and thought they must be wrong, however, I have found they are not.
Kenyon was my first foray into PNR oh so many years ago and I ate the series up like candy. I could not get enough. After the last two books though, it is just not the same. As the song goes....."it's all the same, only the names will change...." is what these plots have come to be. This one also felt very disjointed to me and then I heard it links to the Lord of Avalon books, which I have not even read. I am just trying to finish this one up because I don't want to get to the point where I actually DNF a Kenyon book. Even Simi does not make me smile anymore. Too much of the same old quips and banter, name dropping, history lessons and not any substance.

I sure hope The League series does not end up going this way.....

Kenyon's Dark Hunter books are quickly becoming as whiny as the Anita Blake series. Or maybe I'm just sick of reading it.
There used to be interesting, sympathetic characters with actual personalities but now they're all cookie cutter. Same problems, same conversations, same quips, same solution. It's pure laziness. I would love to finally read Nick Gautier's story, but as it won't be published within the next five years due to the dragging on of Chronicles of Nick... Anyway if the quality of the writing doesn't improve, it won't be worth reading anyway.
If The League series degrades this badly, I will probably literally cry, since it's one of my favorites.

4'5/5⭐

Alucinante!

AFTER READING:
SPOILERS AHEAD, BE WARNED!

This book was everything that Dragonmark was not... An excellent book, that is.

In most cases, I am not all for instant romances but Medea and Falcyn made sense together. Both were tormented by their pasts; mistakes, sins, anger and even hatred. They bonded over it and I loved it! The identity of Falcyn's father is unveiled and it's none other than Noir.

There are many things that are uncovered in this book. Maddor, leader of mandrakes is Falcyn's son and it's revealed that Blaise is Maddor's son. You get a son, you get a grandson, everybody gets a sibling. Blaise gets a love interest in the form of a kerling deathseer Brogan. They are cute. Max's Arel father is obviously, after reading Dragonsworn, Adidiron. That was implied through his resemblance to Shadow.

Morgen le Fey and Narishka duFey appeared and I will not lie, they are my favorite villains ever. Both are very twisted and cruel but there is something to it. I still hope we get to know why are they the way they are.

In this book, there was a major info about Kissare. Apollymi's lover, father of Monakribos and leader of Sephiroth army. He was reincarnated and, wait for it, his reincarnation is Acheron's father! Oh, come on... I bet that Savitar is Kissare reincarnated. I am living!

There was this one thing that bugged me a little. Falcyn's son Maddor killed Illarion's mate, Edilyn, in the past. Even though she was alive in the end and Illarion & Edilyn got their HEA in the Dragonmark, I would love that this was at least mentioned.

What I did not expect is Phoebe being alive. I do not like it. I am 100% sure that Urian is gonna end up with Xyn, who is as of Dragonsworn newly revived/awoken/ready for some good lovin'. IMO all this madness with Phoebe is complicating things. I mean what excuse they all have for not saving her? Acheron can revive dead people and made them immortal. Phoebe is just a little cray-cray. There has to be a cure for that? Right? I hope not. I need my Urian & Xyn romance.

This book can serve as an example that book is undoubtedly far more enjoyable when both the hero and heroine are characters we have previously met.

KISSARE!!!!! In chi si è reincarnato???? CHI???? Savitar???? Lo scopriremo mai?? EH????????? Forse no. Vabbè. E Jared? Riapparirà mai? Io voglio Jared!

*runs to top of hill
*comes back and sits down at computer, dogs now barking in the distance
Nope
*runs back for another round
*comes back for another try, sirens heard

Now that I've gotten that out of my system....
It gets *a* star for actually being a book. The last 3 I read from her consisted of...a half fleshed out outline, and two cut/paste jobbies with a few interconnecting bits written in to attempt to keep you from noticing. It's gonna have to work for anything more than that though.

A long long time ago, in a dimension far away... the dark hunters were this group of men and women who, upon death by betrayal, screamed out or something and got a second chance at life (and a moment of retribution) from Artemis. Why her is not really known. Afterall, not all were Greek or...

In any case this particular splinter in the windmills of the author's mind has been corrupted by honey fungus.

Also a long long time ago, in a dimension far away, there was a battle between good and evile with Morgana leFey being the villainous. Alas, this particular world was all but abandoned by the author until she saw an opportunity to send a tendril of honey fungus from the contaminated DH splinter its way. The cynic in me figures Son of No-one was that Lords of Avalon book promised years ago, only rewritten so she could drag it down in the cesspool the DH world has turned into.

Enough commentary on the series and how I feel about all this. The characters ultimately make or break a book. So let's look at them, shall we? I'll be honest here though, this is a book of terrible, awful people who don't really deserve HEAs. IOW, sometimes a badass is just an ass.

Brogan: Deathseer, fey. I thought she was a he when I first picked the book up and flipped into it to read a page. Alas; she's too kind for this world so while I'm sure she gets a HEA (see next character), I'm also sure the author couldn't write her as an MC if she tried.
Blaise: albino mandrake (which makes little sense since they're half dragon, half fey, and any case, I see that and picture a screaming plant, thanks to JK Rowling). In spite of negativity due to his albinism, he's also a nice person and will never see a book of his own. Apparently it was love at first sight...er...sniff as he's blind in fey form... w/Brogan.
Brandor: Brogan's brother. Really, other than his having spent a long period of time chained to Morgan's bed, nothing is really said about him. He's wallpaper and exists for the sole purpose of speaking every now and then.
Urian: I think the last several books have covered Urian in soundbites. Though I have questions that probably will never be answered, like how is it that he had to feed when his genetic parents are Styxx and Bet In any case, the constant whining that "dad killed me" got old books ago, and isn't quite true as he was still alive when Acheron patched him up. What Acheron did to him beyond that, dunno.
Maddor: mandrake, son of H. He, like Brandor, exists for the purpose of some soggy emotional moments involving another character.
Shadow: shadow demon? I think? He gets high marks for essentially telling everyone to get over themselves. They expressed scorn because he'd sided with someone else during epic battle a zillion years ago. He pointed out that a) not everyone had a choice and b) they only knew 1 side of the story
Falcyn: dragon god of war or something like that. I can overlook his crankiness based on being an ancient dragon and also god of war. The grudges OTOH... at some point, you need to get over yourself. He's still angry at his brother Max for assisting the mother in a custody battle, for want of a better word. Granted, this left his son trapped in Morgan's clutches. OTOH, Blaise (grandson) wouldn't have existed otherwise, so... personality-wise, he's pregnant. His mood swings vary from cranky (get off my lawn) to choking back tears *every other page*.
Medea: h. Raging psychopathic bitch. She and her mother kept a being chained to the wall and tortured him regularly for 11 THOUSAND YEARS. Her niceness toward the hero is not unlike the obsessed fan in Misery. i.e. she'd try to kill the H if he ever tried to leave her, or did anything she interpreted as betrayal.

The book starts out in Sanctuary and after a teleportation goes awry, spends much of the book in the fey dimension where we got lots of moping, pity parties, reassurance from people that one should view with the same attentiveness one views a poisonous snake, drawn out, detailed, overly sweet sex (where at least one hissing sound is heard. Hmmm; maybe that was a queef), and eventually everyone gets back home, all the dragons are freed, including the sister who'd been mentioned a few times but never explained what happened to her... and Morgan and Apollo are plotting. Irony, according to Acheron, Apollo's death would mean the end of the world. If he's so determined to destroy everything, why doesn't he just off himself and put us all out of this bloated series' misery?

Also, I love it (said sarcastically) when the author forgets her own rules. They can't teleport in or out - have to use a portal key - and yet they end up there via a teleportation that went sideways. Simi seems to just pop in wherever she darn well pleases. Portal key? What's that? A god's powers don't work in other pantheons, and yet how many times has Acheron demonstrated his Atlantean powers in the Greek pantheon. Both Falcyn and Medea were able to use their powers in Camelot.

Will I read Urian's book? Maybe if I find it at the library. Of course, that requires me to actually GO to the library.

While enjoyable i could've cared less about the romance between Falcyn and Medea. Everything else was more interesting.

*I would suggest reading the Lords of Avalon series first. I didn't and wished I did, I think it would have helped me know some things. With knowing who is who and what the hell happened in Avalon.
*I still wish there was a glossary somewhere so we would know what certain words mean and having the definitions of certain races would be nice. The character guild while helpful only goes so far. I felt like I spent half my time while reading looking shit up. It was confusing. I kept putting it down to go do something else - which is not like me at all.
*There was a shitton of characters to keep track of - to many.
* The info dump was at times overwhelming. I wish these books were a little more closed up - so many twists and turns and plots to keep up with that just keep continuing from one book to the next. I'm getting to old to remember all this stuff.
*I feel like I've should've been reading the CON series along with this one. ;(
* So annoying that she keeps creating spin off's of the original series. and adding in old series that she wrote and making them connect to this one. If this was the way it was way back when I would've never started this series - it just has to much going on. I feel like we will never get the answers or closure.
*I'm way to invested in this series to quit but I hope I start feeling like I get closure soon.
* and 14.99 for the ebook..... WTF!

Listed as part of the following series : Dark-Hunters #28, Dark-Hunterverse #28, Dark-Hunter: Dragons Rising Trilogy #2, Entire Dark-Hunterverse #34, Lords of Avalon #6, Were-Hunters #11. Medea, daughter of Stryker & Zephyra, seeks for a cure for the dreaded disease that is attacking her people. She finds Falcyn who possesses the last dragonstone but wants nothing to do with her. There are many who would love to possess the dragonstone for it's power. But when a group of Gallu arrive, they are transported, along with Urian and Blaise, to another place called Myrkheim, instead of their intended location.

I liked the characters and the plot was fine but I did feel it didn't live up to Ms. Kenyon's normal potential. There seemed to be a lot of information thrown out at us (the readers), setting the stage for future stories. I didn't really feel the romance in this one. It felt too rushed. Overall, I did like it but wasn't loving it.

After the disappointment (for me) that was Dragonmark, it's nice to see Sherri kind of bounced back to the quality of the series.

It's not (again, for me) as good as the first ones (Vane, Zarek, Talon) or as great as Acheron or Styxx, but it does the job, for now. We get to spend more time with Urian and Blaise (always a treat), those two are hilarious. Falcyn and Medea, I thought, didn't quite live up to their reputations as badasses and brooding individuals, but in the end it was ok.
New information about gods and creatures (as always) and a moderate plot twist (minor spoiler). All in all, a fitting end to the dragon trilogy.

Now, if we could just get more of the old gang (Malachai, DarkHunters, ex-Darks, weres), it would really be appreciated.

I wish we could go back to the older Dark-Hunter books. I feel that this universe has grown so much, everything is mix and causes confusion. I feel like I been reading the same story line in the last 4 Mrs. Kenyon books, that includes The League Series.
