When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Feeling a little let down.

I was hesitant going into this next trilogy as picking up with the same characters 5 years later seems like a weird choice - and while I appreciated catching up with the characters again, it lacked the same snap of the original series.

Zoe and Aric have been playing house ever since graduation, and while Aric is as overprotective and hyper vigilant as always, neither of the characters really matured. Zoe hasn’t gotten a handle on her sarcastic mouth, nor her temper, and they are over each other like a rash. That worked for a college series, but was grating in a couple in their mid to late 20s.

Of the three stories, I liked the first two the best as we run into some old college characters that brought the mysteries full circle. However, the final book build up a great conflict and then just wimped out as the antagonists had nothing to do with the previous series. And the confrontational attitudes by the mothers regarding the wedding was just over the top and selfish. Didn’t endear either character to me, which is a shame because I’d had a higher opinion of them from the college years.

I may continue on to the final trilogy, but I’m leaning more towards leaving the series here.

Well, I've been a fan of Amanda Lee for a long, long time, but this was a disappointment. The story was fine, but having to wade through pages and pages of Aric and Zoe declaring their love for each other was just WAY too much. It was almost like Ms. Lee was deliberately trying to make the book longer by filling it with endless filler crap. Certainly NOT like Covenant College, but of course that was where Aric and Zoe met... and I'm only in the beginning of Covenant College, so the "mutual admiration society" hasn't yet begun.

I also would like to say that whomever was proofreading Living Covenant sorely lacked the ability to actually proofread material. While I didn't comment on every mistake I discovered (mainly because I skimmed over all the Aric and Zoe diatribe), I did find enough to believe that there were much more I would have found had I been proofreading the book.

Zoe and Aric for the win

I'd back this winning team any day. It's Zoe and Aric five years after Covenant College, and they're in love more than ever and still have people following them. In this crazy paranormal world I don't know why people are so offended by Zoe's powers that they want her dead, but people are jealous and power-mad. I guess they know what they would do if they had magical power to do anything and assume she's like them.
It makes me think of gun safety. Some people say safety is achieved if no one has weapons, and the rest of us say it's not the weapons but the person using them. Lots of evil people who want power, one woman who only uses the power when people try to hurt her or her family.

Great book

Love all the trouble she gets in to . I was glad she kidnapped the witches rather than kill them

Fun reading

I've noticed that the leading heroines of the authors books are basically the same type of character. I love the series. Powerful mage, powerful werewolf, mystical creatures with larger than life personality.

Nice extension from original 5-part series!!

I enjoyed this trilogy spin-off and give a 4-4.5 out of 5.
I especially loved the new narrator for the accompanying audio!! Way better than the performer from the first book series especially when pronouncing “chi” from the fraternity! (I digress). I appreciated seeing a slightly more mature Zoe who was still very much her snarky self. I also loved seeing Zoe gain more confidence in her magic and begin to truly own her identity as a mage. The villains of the first two books in this trilogy made sense and the stories too seemed realistic in their world of events. However, this last book was a little weak... what could have been an interesting new foe/nemesis turned out to be a few sad and utterly clueless teenagers. Additionally, their moms went way too overboard with hijacking their wedding plans yet everyone kept calling Zoe our for understandably being upset. That side story just rubbed me the wrong way. I was excited for the gift Zoe bestowed upon Rafael on her wedding day. He was a very deserving recipient and an ever loyal friend. Finally, i expected the surprise revealed at the end since the start of the 3rd books... given the frequency of their favorite extracurricular activity!! I’m looking forward to reading more of their family adventures in the final trilogy Dying Covenant.

I honestly don't know how many words can express my feelings about these books and this author. I downloaded the first series of these 5 books on audiobook and when I saw it was 36 hours I was dubious about it. I started on 26 March 2021 and I can quite happily say that every night and every opportunity I have had, I have listened and got completely hooked on the books, the plots and the characters!!! As soon as I started to get engrossed in this, I started researching and found out there was this trilogy (25 hours) which continues when they leave college. That was downloaded as well. All in all there is over 61 hours of fantastic writing from an extremely talented author. I LOVED EVERY SINGLE PART OF IT. There were not any moments of the plot dragging, I didn't get bored once and that is astonishing when you think of 61 hours!!! Do not hesitate for one second to read/listen to these books. They deliver on every single level.

Please write more in this series!!!!

Not great literature, just great fun.

Is Zoe whiny, bitchy, sarcastic, obnoxious, and self-centered? Absolutely. Many readers were greatly offended by this. I was amused by her and all the other characters as they managed to both love and cope with her. Since I don't live with her, I don't have to cope. I got to enjoy.

There's not a lot of action. Just enough physical action to flesh out the conflict and resolve it. The dialogue IS the real action. Characters being themselves and entertaining from page one.

Apparently there is a previous trilogy. Events in those volumes form a backdrop for these. Everything is recapped adequately sothe reader isn't left in the dark. I will read the previous stories not so much to find out the whole story, but to just enjoy these characters again.

Super

Was kind of sad the first book showed such a long separation since Zoe saw her friends but it picked up one and went right into adventure.
The second book reunited some friends but lost some too. Still a great book and story.
Third book had a great deal of fun bits.

I had been thinking Zoe was a magical Avery Shaw personality since the beginning. Also got to see some similarities between her and Aisling. A character in the third book mentioned his Sprite cousins Naida and Nixie so that has to be Mystic Caravan. I really enjoy how the books overlap when they do.
Great books and I just put the speed on for the Dying Covenant trilogy before her Covenant shorts start.

Very entertaining series

Very entertaining series with a great cast of characters and extraordinary storylines. Main character is a strong female character with a very strong snarky and sarcastic wit. At times it is funny at times it is dark at times it is spooky but it will always entertain you. Follow the characters through their lives over a period of years and find out what happens. You will not be disappointed check them all out

Bewildering

So as with Covenant college this is 3 books. While the first 2 are a great read the third just seemed to be a reminder of what happened in the "College" series. The "memories" appeared to just be used to fill space. WRONG! Without giving any spoilers they do have a purpose. "Living" is just as intriguing as the first 3 books and I can't wait to read "Dying Covenant".

I had my doubts about Aric and Zoe as young people. Not that they've grown up some, they are much more appealing. The writing is well-done. The storyline pulls one in. The small army surrounding the couple consists of characters that have been thoroughly fleshed-out. One of my personal benchmarks for "How well written is this series?" is how do I feel when there are big life events. If I can cry at a wedding, birth or death, then the author has totally sucked me in. Well, done.

Love Zoe’s Snark

I’m reading this series again, and I still love it. I love the little hints as I try to figure what will happen next. I like how Zoe and Aric grow, and stay the same. Mostly, I love the incredibly imaginative and detail oriented storytelling.
There’s too much going on for me to outline the story. I’ll just say that this story begins about 5 years after college. And I’m not telling you where it ends.
Enjoy!

Supernatural fantasy

Years after they left Covenant College, Zoe and Aric have made a life for themselves in their own isolated home in the woods. They have separated from their college friends to protect Zoe. Out of the blue, Paris shows up on their doorstep and a whole new set of adventures is about to begin.

Great Series

I am so happy this series continued into Cow's adult life with her boyfriend, soon to be husband Aric. I love Zoe, she is so snarky! And she does not pretend to be a domestic diva. She kicks butt and does it with flair, or should I say flare? Flame? Lots of bad guys in this series, lots of love too.

Poorly written, there was little to no continuity between books.
The author loses focus in places, and changes the names of characters.
It's a reminder of when she had to ask her fans for the names of some of her characters a few years ago.
I'm done with this author.

Love the Zoe Lake series

In this trilogy she has graduated from college. Lots of adventures. Aric and Zoe get the happily ever after, though hard won. Highly recommend the series, but start from beginning. Covenant College series.
