About the author

Kris Pearson

Kris writes sizzling contemporary romance, pure and simple. Well, maybe not that pure! They're sexy stories about couples who fall in love, and into bed along the way, just like real people do.

The Scarlet Bay series about the billionaire Wynn family consists of Summer Sparks, Summer Secrets, and Summer Spice.

Her South & Sexy books are set in her capital city of Wellington so she can make use of the beautiful harbor in the plots.

Her Heartlands series follows the girls who live deep in the New Zealand countryside.

Her all-time bestseller is 'Taken By The Sheikh', and there's 'Desired By The Sheikh' too.

She's now writing the Merry Summerfield cozy mysteries - lots of cats and dogs and amateur sleuthing. The first title is Murder in the Aisle, followed by Xmas Marks the Spot, Murder! they Meowed, and Body! they Barked.

For good measure, she's cloned herself! You'll now find some of her books in new, much sweeter editions under the author name of Kerri Peach.

Kris/Kerri is an advertising copywriter and a decor specialist, and the author of 'The Boat Builder's Bed', of which more than two million were downloaded free. Giving away this taste of her work kick-started sales of all her other novels.

Five of her novels are available in Spanish. There's a Spanish version of her website http://www.krispearson.com - click the flags at the top right of it to change languages.

Rescuing Nick by Kerri Peach
Hearts Around the Harbor #3

Sammie Sherbourne has just buried her grandfather and believes she is finally free to travel the world. Taking a temp job at a fitness center till her passport is received she runs into Nick Sharpe, someone she knew on her grandfather’s apple orchard over a decade ago. With her plans to travel she has no intention of settling down or falling into a relationship but Nick “needs” her and the attraction from childhood seems to have only grown greater. What happens as Nick tries to find out more about his ancestry, build his business, refurbish a new home and woo Sammie is an adventure – a fun one – one I believe you will enjoy as much as I did.

Thank you to the author for the copy of this story – this is my honest review.

Make up your mind!

Do you want him or not? This girl couldn't make up her mind if she actually knew what she wanted. She wants to travel but she wants Nick. He offers her both and she still can't seem to decide. Omg! This book is exhausting

Sammie lost her Grandmother then her parents and finally her Grandfather. Her only relative left is her older brother that is back in Wellington after living in New York for years with his wife and two sons. Sammie has been dreaming about traveling her whole life, its what her parents did and why she spent so much time with her grandparents on their orchard growing up. She takes a temp job as a personal assistant in a fitness center until her passport is ready and then she is off, she has no real home but enough money to get her all over the world for a few years. Everything is perfect until she realizes that the man she is working for is the same brooding boy that spent summers at her grandparents orchard, the one who opened her up to the possibility of sex and sexuality. She hasn't seen him in years and he doesn't recognize her. Unfortunately, Nick has been through a lot in the last few days and needs someone to talk to about everything and his new P.A. seems like the perfect sounding board for some reason. Once he discovers who she is and that they have a past he is determined to pursue a future with her but she just wants to travel. Luckily for him, she has the answers he seeks and they are both falling in love with each other so her leaving him wont be an issue for much longer. In the end she does get to travel to places all over the world starting with Italy so that Nick can meet his mother and learn about who he really is.
This is a sexy book with lots of normal people problems and oddly perfect timing. Worth the couple of hours it will take to read it.

Standalone temporary PA / boss romance mixed with a brief teenage romance second chance theme with a HEA

Rescuing Nick is a PA / boss romance mixed with a second chance theme between two people who had a very brief teenage romance. However, there is also a slightly emotional undertone with the adoption theme that adds a different angle to make this a more unique take on what can be common themes. There is some back and forth between the characters as to where things are going given the temporary timeframe and the various other issues within the book, something that not everyone always enjoys, but overall, I enjoyed this well written, second chance romance.

Kerri Peach did it again! She has written as good of a book as Kris Pearson, just not with as much spice! Kerri is Kris’s pen name for her sweet books
but, they are not boring or too sweet! If you have a good imagination you don’t need everything in detail and I can tell I’ve read both genre and can’t tell you which I liked best! Kris or Kerri always makes her characters very interesting and by the end of the book you’ll know all about Nick from his
cute little butt, to his smoking eyes and the mischievous smile! You’ll also,
learn about Sammie, how she can lose her balance in stilettos, the way she can flirt and how much she wants to travel! It was a very nice romance that I would recommend to anyone!
I voluntarily read and reviewed honestly an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Remarkable reunion filled with disappointment, joy, and excitement

Kris has done it again. This story continues her excellent South collection with another wonderfully lustful tale.

As the title promises, sparks fly aplenty while our main characters stumble along avoiding acknowledging the romantic nature of their relationship. Deep down he is trying to make a lasting connection but never finds a way to express his desires. She is drawn into insta-love but has a long-term commitment to a path in life which precludes anything beyond a short-term dalliance with someone she perceives as "love 'em and leave 'em" player.

Wonderfully the denouement ties up all the loose ends in a satisfying manner.

Enthusiastically recommended. On to the next volume post haste.

Beautiful Story

Loved this story about Nick and Sammie. One can say it is a story of two individuals who knew each other at a young age, had fun in secret, and met up again coincidentally thirteen years later. It was full of memories good and sad, lust, love, and had a Happy ending to melt your heart.

I quite enjoyed the NZ flavour of the book (just for a reading change) and it romps along quite nicely with a decent story and some sexy scenes in it. A good holiday read IMHO

Pleasant reading

This is a pleasant sweet romance. It doesn't have a lot of action or intrigue but the story is good.

2.5 stars. The story was frustrating. The h was a dithering, inconsistent, mixed signals cretin. "I want to travel, so I can only have a brief affair." "Oh no, he's a playboy and won't want anything serious." The H was decent, but it's not clear why he wanted the h- other than physical attraction.

The way the incident with Evan was resolved seems to make light of sexual assault. WTF. He should have been charged. Not joking around with him about it.

And the story also seemed to denigrate adoptive families. It would have been one thing if it was just because they were horrible that the H didn't like his adoptive family. But the story at times implies he didn't belong solely because he wasn't related by blood. This is offensive. And his niece was totally ignored except when convenient. She was just a plot device. And WHY did his other give him away? That is never explained.

And the H gives a long apology summing up his situation (in case you missed it) to the h at the end. Why? Totally unclear. Everything really was her fault.

This story was super cute--and definitely not what I thought it was going to be.

I really enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Sammie and Nick. There is an added element that really adds more depth to their relationship than I initially expected so that was a welcomed surprise. I did find Sammie a little annoying at times--she was too angsty for my personal tastes but I got over it.

The plot itself was solid--and refreshing in one particular way. It was a fun and heart-warming story.

Kris Pearson has wedged herself into being one of my top ten fav authors. I came across her by accident, and am so happy that I did. Her stories are well-written, her characters are solid and realistic, you're not interrupted with typos or spelling mistakes or long and pointless scenes.

I must say that the covers do not do her books justice, I think they could be keeping a wider audience from enjoying her truly enjoyable writing.

I also must add specifically to this book (this is just personal opinion) I feel the 'attack' scene could have been left out of this. It didn't add anything.. polar opposite to me, I think it took away from the story. The slimey phone calls were enough.

Recommended story.

Looking forward to the others. :)

I love unconventional romances, and this one was very well written. Sammie isn't looking for anything but a temp job to hold her over until her passport arrives and she can travel the world like she always dreamed. Nick has never had a serious relationship, choosing to keep things simple in the bedroom. When Sammie takes the temp job at Nicks business, she doesn't expect to meet the boy she once had a crush on, and Nick never expected to find a woman worthy of his heart. I love how they managed to come together for more than just passion in the end. I would read more from this author.

Kris is my new favourite writer. The books are amongst the best romance books I have read. The attention to detail with characters is superb - it's like you know them - your with them living the story - from the beach house to his town apartment you visualise the whole picture. Nicky and Sammie are phenomenal characters - even if a little naughty in the shed. Full of intimate turn-ons to rampant racing adventure, you will be drawn to this book page after page.

I read the boat builders bed a while back ago, and I liked it, so when I saw this one was a freebie, I swept it up...unfortunately, it was just okay. I didn't really like the writing. The story was okay, but I was either bored or confused or irritated. Not a book I would recommend, but not a complete waste of time either. It was just ehh, okay for me.

I really like this author for quick reads in between some of the heavier, heart-wrenching stories. This was a good story about second chance love and whether you want another chance or not. The most disappointing thing about the book was that it ended at 84% :( Major bummer as I wanted some more of Nick and Sammie's story.

Sammie has a temp job until her passport comes in. She going to travel the world. Nick is a gym owner looking to find himself. Sammie realizes she know Nick from when they were kids. Sammie and Nick try to have a fling before she leaves. Fate has a different plans for them.

I really enjoyed their story.

Quick, hot read.

While waiting on her documents to arrive, she decides to work as a temp - what she doesn't plan on is working for her childhood crush. Things escalate quickly, and soon she's faced with a dilemma - Nick or traveling, her lifelong dream?

No matter how much I tried I just couldn't seem to get into this story. I disliked the characters and the storyline had no appeal for me. Considering I've liked the first 2 books in this series, I must admit to being quite disappointed with this one. I went as far as half way but couldn't take it anymore, I hated doing it but at times it's the only solution.

I'm glad I read it anyway.

I'm so glad I read this book despite of some negative reviews. It's a really good book. I just didn't like the fact that Sammie kept saying she will be traveling soon. Other than that, their relationship progressed nicely. I'm hoping for a different ending, but nevertheless, still a happy ending.
