Shredded, the first book in the Broken series, was brilliant. Sometimes sequels fall short of their predecessors, and I was almost afraid to start Shattered in case it disappointed.
It did NOT.
The characters grow even more in this book, the stakes are even higher, it plunges you into more emotional highs and lows, and you want to go out and change the world after reading this. Or at least find your own Candy to befriend and learn from.
Kimberly portrays people at their realistically psychologically deepest, while not shying away from pointedly in-your-face gospel truths. I appreciate her heart for women and heart for Christ most in the way she writes the human heart.
The series keeps getting better and better, and I can't wait for book #3!

I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel to Shattered. I was invested in the characters and enjoyed following their story further. The straightforward approach to living out the gospel was what struck me most and challenged me to be so bold in my own faith!

This book was more intense than the first (crime show-esque. Spoiler alert, people die.) It did do a good job of continuing the story and keeping the characters' personalities consistent. I enjoy the tongue in cheek writing style

Shattered-prepare to lose sleep until the last page of this powerful novel.
Blue Jean, a broken young woman, startles at a kind touch and has since gradeschool. The people of Brookside Baptist Church take her timid ways for granted until the new pastor, his wife, and his brother lose their way to the church because of faulty instructions. Two women are standing on a dark street corner. Pastor Stewart asks them for directions, much to his wife's dismay. He doesn't notice they are ladies of the night until he has the correct name and directions to the church. Knowing Jesus mingled with tax collectors and other assorted sinners, he invites them to Sunday service. The congregation is scandalized when they appear dressed in the suggestive clothing1 of their profession. Even worse, Candy, in her pink boa and sequined shoes, interrupts the service with multiple questions. Jean hears the ruckus and leaves her Sunday School children in good hands so she can see what's happening in the sanctuary. With one look, she wants to get to know Graham, the pastor's brother. But how will that ever happen when she trembles at the thought of shaking his hand?
"Shattered" is a page-turner with life and death drama in a small town of stunted Christians growing in the spirit. But evil rears up, threatening to break the town wide open. The end is no typical HEA. The storyline continues in book three of The Broken Series, i." Don't miss it!

I haven't cried reading a book since I was a child.
Another night's sleep lost. This can't be happening. I haven't cried reading a book since I was a child. Not Ian. Not Susan. Gripping. Paralyzing. Heart stopping. A MUST read trilogy. I can't wait for RESTORED. Rae is not afraid of the a truth. Help me, I'm starting RESTORED now. I need all the help I can get.

I could not put this book down. I love how God's word is tied in all throughout the story!

Really good book.
I couldn't put this book down. The characters and their responses to God's work in their lives drew me in. Even in brokenness and abuse God will bring hope and wholeness.
