Sometimes you’re just going along in life, doing your thing, then a person walks in and changes everything. That’s what happened to me when I met Sophie Neil. That moment when our eyes met, I just knew there was something special about her. At first glance, I was all in. Now I just have to convince her to give love another shot. Sometimes things happen in life that take you off course, that you never expected, that leave you wounded. That was my situation the day Tyler James walked into my life. The moment our eyes met, I was drawn to him in a way I had never been before. At first glance, he captured my attention and never let it go. Now I just have to convince myself to give love another chance. Intended for mature readers.

About the author

Jennifer Domenico

Jennifer Domenico writes contemporary and erotic romances. She loves alpha males with a soft spot, flawed characters, and strong, sassy women. Her characters usually have a side of kink and aren't afraid to demand what they want. The author doesn't apologize for that. She's a sucker for a happy ending as long as it comes with a lot of heat.

She lives in Phoenix, Arizona but is a Bostonian at heart. The way to her heart can be reached with a foreign accent, a shot of Fireball, and an unlimited supply of cupcakes.

She is also known under her alter ego, Jaelyn LaStoria, author of time traveling romances, because why not. The first title is Lost Within.

**2.5 Stars but rounded up to 3 because it had an epilogue**

Let's just say, I finished it and while the hero was perfect in the way he treated the heroine, I thought the dialogue was...immature? juvenile?...something...It was like reading about a bunch of high schoolers talking to each other. I just couldn't get past it to give it more stars...but the sex scenes read like something from a porn movie...

This was one of the lowest angst books I've ever read. Tyler is sweet and ALWAYS says the right things. It's total instalove. Not great but not totally terrible either.

I have to think about this.
It is a second chance romance as she has been married and had a bitter divorce.
I like first time love stories best.
For me, when the hero or heroine are constantly comparing or treating the other based on their relationship with their ex, it just upsets me.
I truly hate that.
I know I am weird but I may read it still. Just not right now.

Sophia Neil has finally has gotten her divorce from her bastard of an ex. Her best friend Sloan is celebrating with her and surprises her with a week at a place called Desert Spa in Sedona, Arizona. She doesn't want to go but gives in knowing her friend is right. While there she meets a young handsome man and starts to feel things for him in a way that she has forgotten but can and should she try to give him a chance.

Tyler James works at Desert Spa and he is instantly taken with Sophie. He gets her mistrust since he himself has been hurt in relationships before too. But that is not going to stop him from pursing her since he sees in her what he has been looking for and her issues with age and insecurities won't stop him from getting her to see that they could be perfect together.

This is a book I started and stopped that was on my Low Angst Love TBR challenge list to read this year. I decided to pick it back up and finish it. Honestly this got better as I kept reading even as I had some issues that really brought down some of my enjoyment. For some reason, it had a younger tone to it than the age you find out the characters are. It did feel more childish at first for me and while that tone continued it also had some better moments too. I have to say the surprise for me in this one was I got the annoying, nosy, pushy, and big mouth BBF that I can't stand but instead of being the heroine's she was the hero's "little sister" friend. She was nosy af and I really didn't like how she went to the heroine's room on the premise of delivering breakfast to snoop after they had their first night together. I mean damn wtf, and the fact that to me she does this kind of stuff for the first part of the books pissed me off so bad and she wasn't put in her place to almost the end of it. She even seemed like she was more the boss and I didn't like that either she needed to learn about some damn boundaries and I don't care how close she was to the hero. I actually liked the heroine's bff which is rare. I think the other thing was the dirty sex talk seemed out of character for the hero. Some I could buy and some felt like trying to hard to be dirty.

There were a few other things that felt off for me and the things I didn't really care for especially that annoying ass bff that made the read hard to get into until almost have the book. Then it seemed to take a little turn that made me get thru the second half better and I realize that the hard to get into is what made me pause the first time I tried to read it. I like the hero. I thought the heroine was okay but I think due to some things I have personally experienced with some lately I didn't sympathize with her wreck of a marriage and ex. So even though she took chances I didn't really connect with her or have a lot of compassion for her like I normally would.

It was a very low angst and was insta love. I think it was sweet and know that some will really love it but it fell short for me so not one I would go back to. So could be a 2.5 but the ending was better so round up to 3 star

5 stars! One of my favorite books this year!

I had the awesome opportunity to beta read for this book a few months ago and I was so happy to reunite with Tyler and Sophie and their sweet love story. My review, however, is completely honest.

When Sophie and Tyler meet it is insta-love..ish. Neither of them were prepared, but at first glance their souls recognized each other.

Tyler was perfect<3 he wasn't a ladies man. He was devoted to work and was humble, even though he was rich. He was loyal, patient, trustworthy, fierce friend, lovable, and didn't realize he was missing something until he met Sophie.

Sophie had recently gone through a nasty divorce and her marriage had left her vulnerable and not trusting easily. She was strong, independent, but very lonely. She wasn't looking for love, just trying to find self again. But when she meets Tyler, he shows her that second chances and happily ever afters do exist.

I loved Sophie and Tyler, the secondary characters, the plot itself, the epilogue. It's these type of books that gives hope of finding true love and soulmates. I know I'm being cheesy :p but if you read this book you'll see what I mean.

There is no drama, no exes, just laughs, tears, and swoon worthy moments<3 If you love insta-love, hot sex that will require a change of panties, babies, and a sweet love story, then this is for you.

Very sweet read with some steam.

OMG I loved this book so hard. It is insta-love but then it had real depth as they got to know each other. Sophie was such a strong woman and I loved watching her start to love herself again. Tyler was everything...so loving, kind and HOT. This is super steamy but definitely has a Heart. This is my first time reading Jennifer but I’m already browsing her books for more.

At First Glance was an absolutely phenomenal book. From page one this story captured my heart. It made me smile, laugh, cry and realize that believing in oneself is one of the most important things in life. Sophie and Tyler's love was off the charts!! Sophie went through a horrible marriage and a painful divorce. Tyler had many ups and downs throughout life, but one fateful trip tossed these two together. Tyler was Sophie's cheerleader and completely believed in her. Sophie was Tyler's rock. Their souls belonged to one another. I cannot express how amazing this book was!! Love heals all!!!!

For me this book felt a bit like a fantasy. The love Tyler and Sophie shared didn't seem real. It was love at first sight and over powering. I can't remember reading about one argument between this couple! It was sweet, if anything too sweet, but it worked. I enjoyed it because that is one of the reasons I read romance, I want to escape the realities of life. For a few hours I did and that was nice.

This was a sweet romance with great characters. Tyler was not what I expected at first, but I loved him. It's nice to read a good romance without cheating, lies, and fighting. Thanks for another great read!
