What's a single, pregnant woman supposed to do when her family kicks her out? Go to Preor Choosing Station Tau and hope a dragon shapeshifting alien is her mate, of course. Delaney Cole found her mate among the Preor only to watch him die-through his own eyes thanks to the Knowing. Now, what's she supposed to do when she discovers that her second mate is the male who'd killed her first? It doesn't matter that he's gorgeous, that his peach scales invite her touch, and his thick muscles make her fingers tingle with the need to caress him. She shouldn't want such a violent, deadly male, but... she does. Zadri was born a son of Syh, orphaned and unwanted, and he never imagined actually having a mate. Yet, Delaney is his. Yes, he was the one to rip out her first mate's throat, but now that he has experienced the Knowing with her, he will not let her go. Her lush curves, inner strength, and unborn young belong to him-wholly and until he takes his final flight. When others attempt to rip her from his life, he will explain the gravity of their error. Slowly. Painfully. He only hopes he can reach her before they escape.
Zadri is book five in the Dragons of Preor series by Celia Kyle.
When Rendan ended I wasn’t sure how the author was going to solve the issue with the pregnant uncurious women and Zadri becoming her mate even after he tore out the throat of her previous possible mate.
I love the Preor dragons and world. This twist was unique and I was curious as to how it would work out. The author surprised me.
Delaney she comes from a twisted and messed up family. She had strength and backbone. She knew what she needed to do to protect her unborn child. As for Zadri well he is orphaned and unwanted. Learning about this other side of Preor was hard, but it helped. I felt sad for Delaney and Zadri was sweet.
The romance built nicely and was very sweet. I liked this couple. I will say their where some predictable moments, but that was ok for me.
Zadri was an enjoyable read in the Dragons of Preor series.
Well when the last book ended I was pretty stumped as to just how the author could come up with a follow-up that was romantic. After all Zadri tore the throat out of a fellow Preor and then promptly realised that the mate of the dead dragon was now his mate! Now that's so messed up on so many levels but clearly not enough of a complication. What? Why you might ask and my answer is Delaney isn't just widowed but also pregnant! Yes when life gets to go pear shaped it does it in style! So another glimpse into the world of the Preor dragons that seem to be more than a little overprotective at times. Yet the story here had such a unique twist that I didn't want to put it down until I'd finished. I think Delaney came from such a messed up background that it was difficult not to sympathise with her but honestly I just didn't get how she had initially ended up with such an unsavoury match. All is revealed and there are interesting developments at the end so it did have a happy ending although it did feel a little rushed Voluntary opinion of an Advance Reader Copy
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Huge fan of the series and I was so glad that Zadri gets his story. This was happy and sad for me. Both of these mates are broken but in different ways. Zadri was abandoned as a dragonlet and left to fend for himself and to survive which he did. He's always felt he was less than because thats how orphans are treated and he was tossed literally by his dam like trash. He's sweet and extremely thankful for finding his mate and is protective of the dragonet she carries. He's got a bit of guilt for killing Delaney's mate but he deserved it because he kidnapped and tried killing another female. He quickly comes to find out that Delaney is his mate because the Knowing starts for both of them.
Delaney had parents from hell. They are cruel and psychotic and treated her like a sculpture as a child and well into her life. Surgeries after surgeries to make her perfect in their eyes which never seemed to be reached. When the threat of her child comes into play she flees and gets a mate but he was crazy therefore Zadri kills him in the previous book. She is very confused because she experiences the Knowing with Zadri when she already had and lost a mate. They werent bonded yet but it put her in a coma when he died. So, she was a bit freaked when she came to with Zadri leaning over her. :) Lots of confusion and emotionally draining and Delaney is wary of Zadri but is drawn to him and knows shes his mate. Its weird because she already had a mate but now what she's experiencing its confusing to her and everyone else. There is a reason that this happened but I am not gonna give it all away. Its a bit shocking and sad in a way.
If all this emotional baggage for both mates wasnt enough and trying to get to know one another. Someone is hell bent on injuring her or worse. Her parents wont leave her be. She tries to explain things to Zadri which she eventually does but their mating isnt instant and there are a lot of problems to work through. It ends on HEA so I really recommend the book and this series. One of my favorites.
Also, I'd really really like Argan to have a story Celia....cause he is awesome! I loved him. He really stuck out for me. :)
This was a pretty predictable read but that didn’t keep me from enjoying it at all. I love Dragons of Precor and how protective and respectful of the human women they are. The books in this series make for easy and fast paced shifter romances. Plus they are offered on kindleunlimited. I'll definitely check out the next book in the series when its available.
This story is great. It makes you wish that men like this existed. Here are two people that have faced heartache from the world. Together they are each other's family. Zadri accepts Delaney and her unborn child as his (most men usually don't want a ready made family). In peor culture, Zadri is considered undesirable because of an imperfection he has on his wing, but not in Delaneys' eyes. She considers him to be perfect. He's a warrior, a protector and a gentle lover. Zadri will do everything in his power to protect his mate and unborn child. Whoever tries to harm them will live to regret it. Can't wait for the next book.
This book had a lot of stuff I normally HATE. But the book worked. No clue how. But it was one of the stronger books in the series. Zadri was the best hero! Just wish we had Zadri/baby time! He is going to make an AWESOME daddy!
I have a confession. As much as I adore Celia Kyle, I had never read any of her Preor books. SciFi is just not really my thing. But given the opportunity, and having read another book not really in my genre (horror) and enjoying it, I decided to stretch my genre list. And of course, now I am kicking myself for not reading the others!
Celia has a way with words, a passion for “Happily Ever After” and a deft hand with a storyline. At first I wasn’t sure about the whole ‘you killed my mate and now you expect me to mate you’ arc. But, once again, Ceila does it well.
Delaney Cole is Queen of the country of “My Parents Are Psychos.” Yep, that’s right, I gracefully give up my throne to Delaney. Because, let me tell you – these people are awful. So, when poor Delaney finds herself knocked-up, (well, after a while, you really have to at least pretend you can be loved, right?) her parents send her running for her life. Literally. Straight into Preor Choosing Station Tau, in the hopes of finding a Preor mate. Who better to protect her and her child from evil than a dragon warrior?
But things don’t go as expected for Delaney – not even close, as a web of intrigue, danger, betrayal and pain builds around them that could cost her and her child their lives after all.
I should have known Celia’s world building would be awesome-it always is, after all-and of course her characters are as well rounded as always. Yes, I messed up not starting at book one, not because I was ‘lost’ in the storyline, but because this was just that good. So, Dragons of Preor, then The Ujal are now on my “Read ASAP” list!
I received this book from Ms. Kyle in exchange for a realistic review. All thoughts are my own.
What another great action packed story in this series. Too much in this review will spoil it. This continues on from where the previous book ended. Zadri has just killed Ballakin and Delaney was rushed to medical. There is a twist later on in this story about that too. Delaney has been raised in isolation and neglect. Delaney wants nothing to do with her parents and managed to escape them when they attempted to abort her baby. Zadri was thrown from his eyrie as a young child due to a malformed wing. Zadri thinks that if you have parents they are wonderful and the fact Delaney will have nothing to do with hers is unbelievable to him. When these two finally talk and tell each other their stories it is heart-breaking. Took them a while to get to this point but it cemented their relationship. You need to read this to understand how much is going on. It was so nice when Zadri showed mercy to Luzan who had been tricked by Delaney’s parents. It must have seemed like heaven for poor Luzan to believe he would get his own mate. The fact he dishonoured himself is something he will now have to live with. I hope one day he has his own story and HEA. Loved the karma angle against Delaney’s parents but WHO is Liquid Knot???? Interesting lady.
I really liked Delaney and Zadri's story with a couple of exceptions. I didn't like how long it took for Delaney to tell him why she didn't want her parents around. Even after she found out that he was basically thrown away like garbage at birth and killed his brother she kept her family drama to herself. I also really did not like her not saying anything about how Luzan made her feel. Trying to be nice is ok, but not when your gut/6th sense is warning you. As always great story and of course happily ever after. Cute series that I'd recommend to sci-first and shifter lovers equally.
There should be peach colour dragon on cover...Just saying... Surprisingly good story after the fail of previous book. By now it is clear that every Preor to get a mate is with tormented past.Author specialises in either psychologically or physically damaged heroes and, while it is getting very repetitive,I do appreciate different kind of damages she can come up with,I appreciate her understanding that there is a lot of events that can leave scars on somebody.I also appreciate unexpected "evil" or anti-hero in this novel. It was a nice change from "purists" that starred in previous novels. Main heroine being pregnant from another man was a weird way to go.Author made it all being easy transition, her mate accepting and loving. But for me it sounded like a dream of a knocked up girl who was dumped by the guilty party. Respectively-too good to be true and still hoped for by all those unfortunate girls.
This story was done pretty interesting. You start out with Zadri killing another dragon in another book. This book starts after that happens. He meets his mate. I like how they work through their issues and fall in love. One thing I have I to say is it's kind of dangerous being Zadri's wife.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
In this book we get Zadri's story and we finally understand who Delaney Cole is. Both of these people we meet in Rendan's book. Zadri is the defense master and we find that after he is offered this position he is called to duty to find and help protect the offensive master Rendan's mate. In the process he has to kill another Proer who ends up being Delaney Cole's mate. But he knows he feels something for this woman and the baby that she carries. If only he can convince himself to leave her alone. Can Zadri leave the woman he knows is is mate or will he turn his back when she may need him the most?
Delaney is a woman on the run. When she she finally escapes the clutches of her parents she becomes the mate to a Preor who is killed just a short time later. When she awakes from being unconscious she awakens to the Preor who she believes just killed her. When she looks for the wound and finds none she is even more confused. Part of her wants to bring him close and another part wants him as far away from her as possible. What is she to do when she may be the mate of the man who killed her last one? Does she fight to stay or run to protect her and her baby?
This book has many twits and turns that will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. This couple like most Preor and human mates have to endure some type of challenge before they get their HEA this couple is no different. The difference is how they handle those challenges. There are so many things I want to tell you about this book but hate to ruin anything for any other readers. I will say this book will have you on the edge of your seat till you read those words the end. I will say I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
I'm *kiiiiiinda* thinking I probably shouldn't have skipped book 4 in the series before jumping into this one, but I like to live life by my rules. Ain't no one going to tell me what order to read books in. *nods toughly* But seriously, while I probably would have gotten a little more out of this book if I'd read them in the proper order, I didn't have a problem following along. Not really. It just would have enhanced the whole Dragons of Preor experience.
So. Delaney is human, pregnant, single, and basically widowed since her first mate met an untimely end at the hands of Zadri. To say she needs a little time to work her head around that is pretty much a given. And Zadri was...super sweet. I mean, he still had that strong, powerful, dominant alien thing going for him, but he had this sweet side that slayed me. Like, the guy was just so painfully grateful to have found a mate he was willing to go to any lengths to make her happy.
Given the circumstances of his early life, I could understand where he was coming on EVERYTHING. Including his insistence that Delaney's parents be given the respect he thought they deserved. Once Delaney explained things (and that took a while, to be honest), he understood why she was so standoffish with her parents and...well, communication is important, man. It's important.
I like these alien dragons. I like that Zadri protected his mate and loved her baby regardless of who had sired it. I liked that he showed compassion to someone who'd done a serious wrong to him and Delaney. I guess what I'm getting at is that these dragons work for me. Dark, dangerous urges and everything.
This is my favorite of the books in the series so far. It's a great KU library read and suspense filled addition to the Dragons of Preor. I would recommend reading book four, Rendan, prior to reading this book, because the events from that book greatly influence this one. And now I'm really looking forward to book six.
Zadri, Son of Syh (orphan) was abandoned by his family when he was an infant due to a wing deformity. He has trained and battled his way to a high level of trust and ability as a Preor warrior. In book four, he was forced to take a life, that of the mate of a pregnant human female who had just applied for a mating. Delaney Cole has exhausted all her resources after leaving the mansion she had been kept in by absent, emotionally abusive parents. As she's exiting the Preor mating center, her eyes meet those of a green male Dragon with a woman in tow. She then sees through his eyes a battle in the skies and his death at the hands of a peach colored Dragon. A very dangerous, scary male, who the Knowing tells her is her new mate. This book gets 4.5 stars.
So, it's like this. Three days ago I was browsing books on the Audible romance package. I'm so very picky about books when I'm in a mood. So, I was so happy when I read that this first book had a super possessive alpha male in it. I downloaded the book and started listening to it while I was cleaning.
That was three days ago.
I'm binge listened to the first three books but then I just wanted to read the rest myself. Also, the narrators to these books are freaking amazing. AMAZING!!!
Anyway, once I started I couldn't stop. I am so in love with this series. So, 10 books. 3 days. 2 kids. 1 needy male of my own. I don't know how I did, but I finished all 10 books in three days. I was up late and awake early. Normally, after each book I leave a review. But, I didn't want to wait for the next story. So, I will be posting this review to every book.
Said simply... Amazing story, fantastic characters and the world building is...well...out of this world. I just say that there is a 5 book series on the Ujals. I'll be there if you need me.
There does not seem to be a book that Celia Kyle could write that I would not enjoy. She is one of the very few Sci-Fi authors that I read. I just adore what she writes so much.
This book quipped my interest quick with how it started. I loved that her leading lady Delaney Cole was pregnant and had a very rocking relationship with her family. It truly that shook this girl to her core. The past I might add she wanted no part in hashing out with even Zadri.
I am truly a sucker for alpha males who have had a hard life. Just reading Zadri story and I wanted to wrap this massive man up in my arms. He was not perfect. He knew he was not perfect. But he tried his best for her. With Delaney's loved she showed him her heart.
When Zadri spoke to Delaney in his native Preor tongue I swoon every time. She was his world. Her and the baby she was carrying.
One of my favorite things about this book is the way their bond explained the others culture to them. He tried and she tried to accept one another completely. Even if it might drive them bonkers.
Kindle unlimited purchase By Celia Kyle This is book 5 in this series. This was a hard book to read. Delaney and what her life was like before she met Zadri was heart crushing. Zadri life wasn't that easy on him. From the start, he had a lot to overcome. When he was given the opportunity to come to earth he didn't think he would get a mate. When Delaney came into his life he couldn't believe his luck. This book gives you a look at how emotional abuse is just as hurtful as physical abuse.
Another great book to add to the brides of Preor Dragons. Loyalty, love, strength, stubbornness, and humility. All Preor Dragons are looking for their Mate and they are blessed when they find them, if they can keep their heads out of their a**es long enough to know that their women are just as strong. I have fallen in love with these warriors and their hearts.
Delaney hit with the Knowing then witnessed Zadri kill her first mate but he is also her mate ... what?!
Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.
This is the fifth story in the Dragons of Preor, which is a spin-off of the Ujal series. I highly recommend this be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters and it begins as the previous story begins.
There are minimal grammatical issues and the story contains a very strong story universe that has been built across the two series, with solid, well-defined characters.
Again, this story begins right after the previous story and deals with the outcome of the actions taken by Zadri throughout. Delaney is hit with the Knowing when she exits the building after signing up to explore being a mate to the Preor. She matches with Bellikan and experiences his death. Delaney faints and is brought to medical and when she awakens it is to the face of the Preor that killed her mate. She screams and it frightened of him, but she also experienced the Knowing with Him ... what is happening?
Zadri is a child of the skies, abandoned the day after his birth because he is deficient. He survived and was raised without the love and care of a mother or father. He would give anything to have had parents. That is why he is having such a hard time, or at least one of the reasons, after Delaney is brought to medical. She is frightened of him and he doesn’t understand why she doesn’t want her parents around to care for her while she recovers and until she can let him ... if she ever does.
Delaney Cole was pregnant and her family insisted that the baby be terminated so she ran away and went to Preor Choosing Station Tau in the hopes of finding a mate who would help and protect them both. Luckily she found her mate there but then had to watch him die via their connection via the Knowing. Now she has a second mate and in some kind of cosmic joke, it is the Preor Warrior who killed her first mate. Yes he is gorgeous and his peach scales give her a need to caress him, but she is torn considering what he did to her first mate. Zadri was born a son of Syh (he was orphaned and unwanted) and yet he never imagined every finding a mate. Yet, against the odds, Delaney is his. He did rip her first mate's throat out but having experienced the Knowing with her he will not let her go - her curves, inner strength and unborn young belong to him. When others try to rip her away from him he is determined to explain the gravity of their error in a slow and painful manner - he just hopes he can reach her before they escape!
This was a very dramatic story that had a lot of events happening around both Delaney and Zadri as they met in very unusual circumstances and then had to fight to stay together against the odds. A very enjoyable story with plenty of mystery, danger and drama. Contains some explicit sexual content.
The sentiments and emotions books evoke, finally appeared in this series. The characters came alive, laughing and crying. Again more descriptive details would make this book outstanding, but the writing has steadily improved and that is all a reader can ask for these days. The idea of two mates was clever and shifted the expectations for this book. Zadri being an orphan was well explored as the Preor have their own biases to overcome. All in all, a great effort.
Zadri a Preor make that was abandoned as a youngling because he wasn't perfect. Delaney a beautiful young girl who was never perfect enough for food horrible parents that valued only money and looks. Together these two meet under the worst of circumstances, only to find in each other what they have been searching and hoping for all their lives acceptance and Love💖💖💖 this was really good story highly emotional and deeply hopeful. One of my favorites in the series this far.💖
This story was meant maybe to frustrate,if that's the case this author did a good job of it especially with the female protagonist, her way of withholding info from her mate. But all in all this plot worked to their advantage and the driver ama involved was over the top with mild sex bits. I simply loved it hence the four stars because of certain parts of the story. After the sixth book I cannot wait to read more 💞
