My name is Heather McCallister and I only wanted one thing: A rich husband.

All was going to plan until I caught my trust fund wielding boyfriend with his pants around his ankles banging the local weather girl. With my pride intact, I stormed out of the building and found myself fighting over a taxi with a stranger I met on the streets of Chicago.

Ryan Pierson was handsome, fun and didn’t have a penny to his name. He’s everything I didn’t want in man, yet I invited him up to my apartment anyway.

After a wild night of passion, I suddenly found myself questioning everything I wanted out of life.

But nothing is as perfect as it seemed. A secret affair, a proposal and a surprise revelation had me facing the greatest dilemma... .and it was downright Sinful.

When I was little, my mom was part of the Double Day book club. She had piles and piles of books lying around the house; most of them with Fabio-esque men and a scantily clad woman set in a different century. I made up stories in my head just from looking at the covers.

When I as 9, I wrote stories using my best friend as a muse. They were romances...but for the 9-year-old. She was the only one who read them.

When I was 14, another friend gave me a Marian Keyes novel. I fell in-love with her wit, and humor with a dark side. This was my first experience with realistic fiction.

When I was 19, Nicholas Sparks forever changed my views on relationships. I learned what true love could be beautiful and difficult at the same time. I wanted it.

When I was 22, Jeannette Wells made me feel more emotion from an autobiographical novel than I thought possible. I wanted to be her.

When I was 30, Jamie McGuire and Colleen Hoover introduced me to the world of self-publishing. For the first time I thought: I could give this a try someday.

When I was 32, my someday came.

'Sinful Abandon' was everything I had expected from Jeannine Colette – a well written, engaging read, sweet, yet so very sexy. However, I have to say that it was more thrilling that I had expected, which of course was a good thing. Jeannine’s newest release was like her other books - filled with angst and just a little bit of drama, quite emotional, especially since it’s a novella, with witty dialogue and two entertaining main characters.

Heather is a woman who knows what she wants – a rich husband and knows what she loves – money, more than anything else in the world. Growing up with a drunk of a father and a mom who left her when she was just a child, Heather has some interesting “goals” in life. She can make her own money, but she also is looking for a rich husband she can suck every penny out of. In other words, Heather is a gold digger and she’s not ashamed to admit it. She’s successful and even admired, but not very liked by her co-workers. Despite the fact that she loves and wants money and to be with someone who’s loaded, our heroine craves love, craves to be hold and cherished, craves a good man who will show her and tell her how much he cares about her.

“Sometimes, the very best things show up unannounced.”

One night, Heather meets Ryan, a younger man who’s smart, handsome and seems interested in her, but unfortunately, he doesn’t wear a designer suit, he doesn’t have the money she wants her future husband to have. However, Ryan makes Heather feel cherished and protected, he really seems interested in getting to know her and not only sleep with her like any other man she came across so far.

“When he dips a finger and caresses me from the inside, I grab my own hair and scream out. I let him touch me. I let him caress me. I let him love me like I’ve never been loved before.”

Everything changes for Heather when she finds out that Ryan is the new intern. Ryan only wants to be with Heather. He’s willing to do anything to show her that love is worth the risk, that he’s the perfect man for her, that the age difference between them doesn’t matter when you really want to be with someone. Needless to say, Heather’s wants and needs are becoming quite blurry.

“You’re like the lake. You think you can do it all on your own without love. But, deep down, there is a current inside you that runs rapid, reaching out, flowing into others. You just have to look beyond the horizon to see it.”

Like I previously mentioned, Jeannine Colette delivered a delightful read that despite the short length was well done and filled with pretty much everything I enjoy in a story. That being said, I wouldn’t have minded heather and Ryan's story to be a full-length novel. The story line was interesting making this short read, gripping and exciting, so I can honestly say it sucked me in from the start.

I loved how the two main characters met, their interactions in the beginning (and not only) and how the story progressed. Both Heather and Ryan were compelling characters and very well portrayed. I have to say that Heather was not very easy to like. I can’t say I loved her, but I didn’t hate her either. I liked that she was confident and driven and I also enjoyed her wittiness. Ryan was a wonderful hero. Smart and charming he won me over from the beginning. He was so sweet and caring at times and I absolutely loved her tenderness toward Heather and the fact that he wanted so much more with her that she initially thought.

I also liked how the relationship between these two characters progressed. Despite the fact that it’s a novella, I didn’t felt anything between these two was rushed, which I really liked.

Overall, a wonderful, engaging read!

“To love is not just to go through the motions. It’s to feel every emotion. If you don’t have that with the one you’re with, then you’re missing out on the greatest gift this life has to offer.”

Last year I read 175+ books, so now something that I demand is a good hook to draw me in. If I'm not interested, I'll move on. Well, well well. Doesn't Sinful Abandon just catch my attention immediately! Not only Heather's reaction to certain *cough* discoveries but then how she comes to meet Ryan and their first interaction. If that doesn't scream romance hero, I don't know what will! LOL, kidding, but he was fantastic and chivalrous and Heather was definitely a sassy one, prepared to keep him on his toes.

“You don’t have any pictures,” he states.
I motion to the scenic one above the sofa and wonder how in the world he is missing the giant picture.
“I mean, personal pics, like with friends, family, travel. You know, the kind of pictures people place around their homes?”
“I don’t like people, so why would I have pictures of them?”

Just a little secret: I'm such a sucker for forbidden romances. Like come on, forbidden usually means secret, which turns to angst and brooding and stolen glances and jealousy. What's not to love?

Ryan was cute. I really don't know what else to say about the guy! What, do you want to know that he was sweet, charming, kind of corny (which I love!!!), brooding and sexy? Nah, probably not. I can't think why anyone would care about that stuff. He has a great personality, because you know, it's not all about looks. ;) Oh, and he's an ex football player!! I guess that's an okay combo, if you're into that sort of thing. Which I totally am!

“I raise a finger. “I’m not sleeping with you, so flattery will get you nowhere.”
That damn smile widens his face again. He takes a step toward where I’m standing in the middle of the room. “I don’t want to go to bed with you. I want to know you.”

So, Heather in my mind was kind of a twit. But with an a instead of an i. I don't know if I can say that in a review, LOL. No, she was fine. I didn't dislike her per se, but I was quite frustrated by her motives and actions at times. I get it, that's the plan that she made for her life, but damn she was stubborn! At least I could look at it in a ridiculous and almost humorous way, so she was okay, but I felt the need to shake her and say wake up! There was a fantastic guy right in front of her and she was just throwing him away.

Can we get three cheers for an amazing family? Ryan's family is the picture perfect version of what family should be and what they should be about. Large, loud, loving, tender. The people who know you better than you know yourself. And hoorah for a hero with strong family values! I love a man who loves his momma. Every family has their own tradition or game, so it was really cool to see the Pierson clan playing LRC. In case anyone is curious, my families games are backgammon and cribbage. <3

“What are you hiding?” I ask. He hasn’t dealt the cards again, but I ask anyway, “What’s the one thing that would make me hate you as a person?”
Please say you killed someone, stole money from your grandmother, cheated on your wife…
“I get terrible road rage.”

He's so cute it hurts.

One of my favourite things about Jeannine's writing and story telling has got to be the fact that she is so incredible at creating certain quotes, tag lines, sound bites, memorable moments, etc. that you just want to hold onto. This is a 110 page novella and I have at least 20 highlights. Then she throws in genius tag lines like "I'll play you. A win for a sin.", she uses the classic "Take a chance on me," PERFECTLY, and so many more. From moments on the pier to dancing in your living room, Jeannine creates a story that you as a reader want to be a part of; to relive in your own way.

I really enjoyed the first meeting/night between these two but then the emotion between them kind of dropped off for me. Yes, you can tell Ryan is brooding and upset (and rightfully so) but it was Heather that I couldn't get a grip on. If anything, I would've just liked a bit of a stronger attachment between the main characters, maybe then I would've found the relationship and desire a little more believable.

“I’m going to kiss you now.” It’s not a request. It’s a warning.
With sinful abandon, he kisses me, a stranger he met an hour ago on a busy street and followed to her apartment.
Letting go of every inhibition, I let him.”

Yes it's a novella, but Jeannine does a really good job of covering her bases and giving the reader all the important information. It actually feels like you got a short story here, as opposed to a story with holes in it. It reads as being very complete and compact.

“Take a chance on me,” Ryan says, his hands still on me, his forehead pressed hard against my own. “Be with me, Heather,” he pleads. “Let me show you how wonderful this world can be. Let me be your home.”

^ Cause that's not amazing or anything.

I can't really tell you anymore. I love Jeannine, I loved Wild Abandon, I need to read her other two books soon and she's kind of freaking awesome. Just read her work and then try to deny it - you can't. Her writing is exquisite and she creates flawed but redeemable characters who you can't help but root for. Heather and Ryan are simply one example.

“Blackjack. I’ll play you. A win for a sin”

Wait! I'm not done, I thought of one more thing! I love the little moments that seem so inconsequential but then come back to be used an analogies or bigger revelations. Just like in Sinful Abandon with Ryan's shoes. Want to know what I'm talking about? You'll have to pick up a copy to find out. <3

“With sinful abandon, he kisses me, a stranger he met an hour ago on a busy street and followed to her apartment. Letting go of every ambition, I let him.”

Ahhh, I’m not sure how she does it, but Jeannine has this amazing ability to give you an entire and complete story in under 1500 locations. Her novellas are so complete, you just don’t miss anything. At the same time, she just completely sucks you into the story with her great writing. It’s not a secret anymore; she’s simply one of my favorites. Basically, if she writes it, I’ll read it.

“To love is not just to go through the motions. It’s to feel every emotion. If you don’t have that with the one you’re with, then you’re missing out on the greatest gift this life has to offer.”

I originally read Sinful Abandon back in October when it was released as part of the “A Secret Affair” anthology and completely fell in love with Heather and Ryan’s story. If you’ve read the other books in the Abandon collection, you’ve met Heather. She used to work for Asher and never made it a secret that she was a gold digger that was all about money and status. She makes no secret of it here either, lol. She’s shallow and narcissistic and is just looking for a permanent meal ticket. But she also has her reasons, which made me understand her motives better. Her past has caused her to become jaded and therefore she just doesn’t believe in love.

Now Ryan, he was everything! Jeannine can do swoony heroes like no other. I mean, she created my Alexander Asher (yep, he’s mine forever!) and so in the same line of Alex and Nate, there’s Ryan. He's just awesome.

“He doesn’t look at you like he wants to spend forever with you.”

So, Heather and Ryan have a sinful and ridiculously hot casual encounter, a one-night stand. Then the next day, Heather realizes that Ryan is not who she thought he was. He’s only 21 (she’s 31) and he also is just an intern with zero wealth. Heather is obviously not ok, but Ryan is pretty irresistible, and their chemistry is just insane! She begins to let Ryan in, and Ryan shows her a side of live that she never knew. True love, family, loyalty. That there are things that are way more important than money in life and that he deserved a real chance with her.

We are two currents crashing into one another. My current is flowing so strong through my body that I can’t control the storm inside me. We kiss for a moment. We kiss for eternity. We kiss beyond the horizon. “Take a chance on me,” Ryan says, his hands still on me, his forehead pressed hard against my own. “Be with me, Heather,” he pleads. “Let me show you how wonderful this world can be. Let me be your home.”

This was such a great novella. Like I said, it just felt so complete. Jeannine just has this uncanny ability to pack a punch in these novellas where you don’t feel like anything is missing. I will warn you that Heather can be infuriating, but just give her a chance. Ryan more than makes up for her, lol! And this is also scorching hot! Sinful Abandon is a super-fast, short standalone read with a super swoony hero and exquisite writing and I 1000% recommend it! Can’t wait to see what Jeannine brings us next!

“I’ve never known a home before I met Ryan. I’ve never felt love before I found him.”

I'm so sorry, but as high as my rating is, the main character, Heather, was absolutely dreadful. And the entire story is told from her POV.

So you know it's a testament to the author's writing that I was able to enjoy this book, right?

Heather was shallow, narcissistic, arrogant, rude, insensitive, and lived with a false sense of entitlement. Her only saving grace in this story was Ryan and that had nothing to do with her and everything to do with him. He was just that fantastic. Their issue or conflict was a real one that many face in life. She's 31 and he's 21. But her biggest problem was that he wasn't loaded. She wanted to be able to swim in his riches.

She had an understandable reason for wanting what she did, but she was too much with it. Unfortunately, Ryan didn't have any wealth and therefore wasn't worthy of her time. She's jaded and doesn't believe in love, although she's been hit in the face with many prime examples of it's existence. Even from Ryan himself.

Finally she succumbed to Ryan's intensity and his heart hit her upside the head and knocked some sense into her. So obviously by the end I could like the girl because she woke up. Their chemistry was insane and I enjoyed the hold Ryan seemed to have on Heather and her lack of control when it came to him.

The ending was sweet but abrupt. This was my first opportunity to read from this author and I have to say that although for the most part I didn't exactly enjoy the heroine, I did enjoy the writing and the story.

That was a treat with whipped cream and sprinkles. I loved every second of it, and I'm a teeny bit surprised because I'm not usually big on office romance, but this didn't feel like an office romance to me. Maybe because it's a novella, and their time on the clock is short. Or maybe it's because Ryan isn't your typical office/alpha H. He isn't alpha at all, which I'm sure is why I swooned so hard. Despite his age, he's inspired, he has a mature head on his broad shoulders, and he's hearts and (lavender) flowers romantic.

Heather is written to perfection. She introduces herself as a hardcore, no nonsense, gold digger...but there has to be more to her, right? She has to develop, change, or at least reveal a kinder, softer side...doesn't she? I wasn't sure that could happen in so few pages, but it did.

Their feelings are sudden, but completely believable, and never rushed or forced. It's the best kind of romance, and I agree with everyone else...I want more!

Sinful Abandon is cute, witty, sweet, and sexy as hell. It reminded me why I fell so hard for Wild Abandon, and why I need to bump up the few books of Ms. Colette's I still have in my TBR.

Continuing in with my reading list for RARE and I decided to start SINFUL ABANDON - a couple of hours later and I had turned the last page, finding myself needing more of Heather and Ryan. This sweet and sexy age-gap romance is part of a series but can absolutely be read as a standalone.

“Sometimes, the very best things show up unannounced.”

To say I was shocked that this book was about Heather would be an understatement. It's not often there is a story for a character that is definitely not a nice person and I'm not really sure that this book was long enough to redeem her.

We met Heather in the first book, Pure Abandon. She was very competitive with Kathryn and quite manipulative as well. We get to find out why in this story. I'm just not sure it was enough to tip her over the edge.

Ryan, on the other hand, was simply amazing. I loved how he was right to the point and I loved everything about his family...from their views on love and that they are deaf. I wish the story would have been longer so that could've been expanded on.

They meet fighting over a taxi - seemingly opposites in every way but are they?

💔No real epilogue.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It just would have been better if it had been longer and it would have had the depth it so desperately needed.

Sinful Abandon by Jeannine Colette
4.5 stars!!

“Sometimes, the very best things show up unannounced.”

Even though this is a novella, as with any Jeannine Colette book, it still packed an emotional punch. Even in such a short story, Jeannine Colette still got me. This authors talent with that deep seated, emotional read was ever present as she set out to do the impossible, make the irredeemable…redeemable.

I must say I was a bit worried knowing that this was Heather’s story. She has appeared in the Sinful series in bit parts, but always as a relationship wrecker and all out evil, conniving, bitch. So why on earth would I want to read about her? And does she really deserve her own happy ever after?

“You’re like the lake. You think you can do it all on your own without love. But, deep down, there is a current inside you that runs rapid, reaching out, flowing into others. You just have to look beyond the horizon to see it.”

Once you begin to read Sinful Abandon it is not long before you realise the reason the way Heather is the way she is and while it does go somewhat to explaining her I still couldn’t forgive her for her past transgressions. Although, I will say, I did want her to find her happy every after.

“Men only care about two things – their dicks and their wallets. The smaller one is, the bigger the other one seems to get.”

Heather is a gold digger, the difference being…she is upfront about it, she has no qualms about saying it to their faces. She is hugely successful in her job and is admired by those she works with, but deep down, she is missing one thing…love…in any shape or form. Never loved, never cuddled, no affection, Heather has led a cold life from the day she was born, she was determined never to go back to the life she had growing up and if that meant marrying for money then so be it.

“In a city where I came to find a place to belong, instead, I found a home. A life. A love. I’d call that a win for a sin.”

One chance meeting, one night of passion and Heather is smitten, but deep down she knows it has no legs. Ryan does not meet her future husband criteria on any level, but sometimes these chance encounters are just meant to be.

Ryan was adorable with a capital A, he was charming, humble, handsome, intelligent and just beginning to find his feet in the big wide world. He wore his heart on his sleeve as a badge of honour and was the total opposite to Heather. What he lacked to offer in terms of money and stability he made up for in love and affection, but the Ice Queen would take some persuading to thaw.

“Do you know why I chose lavender… It means, love at first sight”

When their paths cross once again it is definitely kismet, but does this second meeting only cause more problems?

Intense and emotional, Jeannine Colette really delivers with the instalove story. Albeit a short story, we are made to wait as the too and fro of do I or don’t I are forever at the forefront of Heather’s mind. Being a novella, instalove is always going to be there but this was believable and I loved every single word.

Book 1 of the "get-them-known" challenge. (It is a self-imposed challenge, hence the uncreative name :D)
Sorry for the update in the review. I hate updating my reviews again and again as well but I need to do this.

Note: For the next couple of months, I am going to read books by unknown authors. Most of these books would have less than 300 reviews and would be chosen at random. The biggest perk is that most of these books I have received by the authors after contacting them. My main goal is to bring to light the huge number of books that go ignored but totally deserve the attention any bestseller out there is getting. I hope I read at least 50 overlooked novels this year and I will appreciate if other people tried to read more of these ignored books as well.

Thank you to the author for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review and fuck you Amazon for refusing to deliver to my country, otherwise I would have had my very own paperback copy (*insert innocent smile* (or deranged (depends on how you look at it))
Warning: you will hate the heroine.
Second warning: you will realize soon enough that hating the heroine won’t stop you from loving this book.
Okay, those were lame warnings. But you get the gist.
Sinful Abandon sounds super enticing; I mean what can go wrong in a book that has such a sexy name?

There is a hot hero, there is a storyline, the hero and heroine meet against the wonderful backdrop of Chicago.

And the heroine doesn’t want to like the hero, for more reasons than one. A) He’s way underage for her (I actually loved this part because it goes against the conventional way of story-telling) B) She’s supposed to marry another man. And, lastly, C) she’s looking for a rich guy. This is where you’ll start to hate her.
The story is basically about a girl who is looking for a rich husband so that she will feel financially secure for the rest of her life until a chance meeting introduces her to Ryan, and the world of love (a world she had only heard about). The two part ways when she realizes he doesn’t have much money but then they meet again when Ryan becomes an intern. As the title suggests, the story is sexy and engaging. The best part is that it’s a quick read.
However, I didn’t really connect with Heather. I’d like to point out to the author that since she spent most of the book focusing on how Heather wants a rich husband only, and explained only in the last chapter why Heather even wanted a loaded guy, a reader can find it very difficult to actually like her. I mean, yes I get her reason and . Apart from this, I liked the story and I think I would want to try other books by the author.
As always, my favorite quote from the book:
“Your heart is so big but you squeeze it tight in your hands. Every once in a while, you open those palms, and the beauty inside shows so bright, I’m blinded”
“Take a chance with me”, Ryan says, his forehead pressed hard against my own. “Let me be your home”, he pleads.

I loved it!  The only thing I hated about it was it was too damn short!

Heather....a woman who knows what she wants and she doesn't hold anything back.  She is honest with the men in her life that she only wants security.  She doesn't need love.

Ryan....a chance encounter with this hottie leads to a steamy one-night stand!  Imagine Heather's surprise when he shows up somewhere unexpected and is 10 years younger than what she thought....a college boy!!!

I loved Ryan, and his family, especially his deaf parents who were the epitome of "forever love"!

Will Ryan be able to convince Heather that money is not everything?  Will Heather realize love does conquer all?  Read this book to find out!  Loved the ending!

“Sometimes, the very best things show up unannounced.”

For a novella, I must say that Ms. Colette did a wonderful job! Because not only was it a real page turner, but it also contains a well written story. The sad part is that it was just a short read. Nonetheless, I find it satisfying (in a novella standard)

Heather, the co-worker of Emma on Pure Abandon was the heroine in this story. She was a woman, looking for a man who is financially rich to accommodate her luxury living.

Until she met Ryan, a sweet guy that doesn't check all of Heather's criteria for her "the one". The connection was palpable, until she found out something.

“Take a chance on me.....Let me show you how wonderful this world can be. Let me be your home.”

I only wish that this book comes in a full length novel instead of just a novella because the story was really great with the much needed angst.

Brilliant!!!

The most honest and impressive female character I read lately.

Gold digger, b*tch, strong, cruel, but crystal HONEST!!!
Very complex woman, but she was always straightforward and I loved it!

There were so many things I avoid normally, but here they worked pretty well.

Emotions over the top!

Sweet sexy hero!

Raw feelings!

What a shame there was no epilogue!!!

It was my first book by this author, but definitely not the last!

In fact, this book is Jeannine Colette's first work that I read. It is nice. It is smooth and simple reading. Heather had problems in her childhood so she sees everything in money, even love! She is so lost. one day she meet Ryan who isn't loaded but he has a good family and he is so happy and story continues... . But I think the ending was so abrupt!! However, I really enjoyed it.

Sinful Abandon by Jeannine Colette, humina-humina. Yes, that's a real word! I LOVED the atypical role reversal that we were treated to in this story. An older woman with a young male intern, but she doesn't want to want him... super delicious! Oooh - and the smut, is off the chain hot! Excellent novella.

Holy cow, now this was one heck of a hot read! First time reading about a cougar relationship and I really enjoyed it! If you're in the mood for a hot quick read, with a relationship between a cougar and an intern, this is it. Search no more!

Heather is an extremely money hungry woman who will stop at nothing to get her hands on a rich husband and not let anyone get in her way. She has set her sights on her boss and will do what it takes to get him off the market. Everything was going as she had planned until she saw him in a compromising position leading to her meeting with handsome and sexy Ryan. I didn't think I was going to like her at all at the beginning, but the time she spent with Ryan made me see her true self and somewhat understood her reasons behind her master plan of marrying rich.

Sweet sexy Ryan begins an internship where Heather works who still lives with his parents and has nothing to offer her. But despite that he still ends up falling for her and tries to make her see that everything isn't just about money and she should give love a chance.

There was a part where I felt so heartbroken for him and just actually wanted him to give up. Heather was infuriating me a lot of times and Ryan didn't deserve any of it. Which is the only reason why I couldn't give this short book five stars.

This book was hot in so many ways it almost melted my Kindle. Sinful Abandon is a Novella length read.
Heather McAllister has been working since she could remember. The one thing she wants is a rich husband. What she didn't count on was running into Ryan Pierson, who can barely sub two Nicole's together. He makes her question everything she has wanted. Will she choose love or will she choose money?
This is surprisingly my first book by Jeannine Colette and now in have wondered why I haven't read her books sooner!

4-4.5 stars. Heather McCallister first appeared in Pure Abandon as Kathryn's coworker. She's very single minded in her purpose. Coming from humble beginnings that she never wants to re-live, Heather has climbed her way up by whatever means necessary to ensure that she doesn't backpedal. If that means taking down people along the way, so be it. Her main goal is to find a rich man to marry. Love isn't a factor, only money and the comfort it brings.

I wasn't a fan of Heather in Pure Abandon. But getting into her head in Sinful Abandon shows that while she surely isn't the sweetest of the bunch, she isn't that way to be malicious on purpose. She's simply surviving by the only way that she knows how. And while she done things she's not proud of, she is in fact a very productive employee, but she doesn't lose sight of the goal. Until Ryan Pierson comes into the picture.

Ryan was definitely a book worthy male hero. His values are simple, but an integral part of his being. He doesn't dwell on the material items or the surface level appearances, but he's got good looks, talent and intelligence to back him up. There's just one problem, or two, as far as Heather's concerned. As long as Ryan is around, Heather is questioning her motives and what she really wants in life. Ryan may not be able to offer the kind of lifestyle that she is eying from afar, but what he can give her far exceeds anything that can be bought. I liked seeing Heather's transformation and epiphany come about, because while I couldn't blame her for pursuing a life of luxury, I enjoyed seeing her exterior thaw and finally allow herself to want what her heart yearned for all along.

Diving deep into a novella is a hard thing to do but when Jeannine Colette grabs a hold of you with her magical words, you hold on tight. Heather McCallister is introduced as a mega-bitch; self assured, doesn’t depend on anybody, and is looking for a rich husband to secure her financial future (Louis Vitton her husband)! But slowly the layers are peeled back by the studly Ryan Pierson. Ryan may not be everything Heather is looking for, but he’s definitely everything she needs. This boy knows how to woo with the language of love!!

I was totally swooning, I mean come on with these words:

“You’re like the lake. You think you can do it all on your own without love. But, deep down, there is a current inside you that runs rapid, reaching out, flowing into others. You just have to look beyond the horizon to see it.”

Soon Heather is dancing to 90’s pop music in her living room and experiencing joy she never knew existed for her. After one steamy night together, Ryan has Heather re-evaluating her priorities. Can she really leave behind the financial security she deemed most important and risk her heart for love?

This novella was a crazy indulgence, perfect for the first read of 2017. I was captivated in the first chapter by the battle of wills of Heather and Ryan – you knew this book was going to be firey. It did not disappoint but was also sweet and tender and self-reflective. Short and sweet, the pages delivered hope for old fashioned romance and love, and that love always wins.

Wow! There was a lot of stuff packed in to this short story. Heather is set on marrying for money. She comes from nothing, so a rich husband is her number one goal. She is currently dating her boss and hoping to get a ring from him soon. She runs in to a young man named Ryan and they have intense sexual chemistry and spend a hot night together. Ryan is straight out of college and doesn't come from money. Heather is stuck trying to decide if she wants to marry a man she doesn't love that has money or be with a man that she loves that doesn't have money. What a dilemma she has.

This was my first book from this author but I've heard amazing things about the other books in this series and plan to read them soon.

Happy Valentine's Day
BONUS!!! A love letter for fans, and future readers, of Sinful Abandon!

Heather,
When we are laying on the couch I like to run my finger along the lifeline on your palm.
Most people think it shows how long you are going to live.
What it really signifies is the life you will have.
Yours begins with heartache and it curves into despair.
As I follow the line I see loneliness, then determination.
On the bend is an achievement, oddly mixed with sadness.
But here, right here, in this place where you are in your life right now, is happiness.
No woman as beautiful as you, with as big a heart and a fire in her belly and a smile that could ignite a city, will ever be filled with despair or sadness ever again.
From this spot where my finger rests against your skin, and all the way down the line,
I vow to only bring you joy, unity, and love even after we're way beyond where the line stops.
Ryan

I adored this! I love the play on the color of roses for each couple, fantastic idea. So, I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as a did, well, because it's Heather, but I LOVED Ryan. Heather's backstory definitely gives her some much needed grace. Again, I can't believe I slept on this series for so long. The writing is beautiful, smart and romantic as hell.

This was a good story with great and meaningful message that many are putting aside and focusing on the wrong things in life.

Story of Heather and Ryan was a really fun read that was perfectly paced and just what I needed on a day like this to make me feel better.
It is being told from Heather's point of view and some might hate her on more than one occasion but I also understand her drive and search for security and stability.
But there is not enough security and stability in this world to be enough if you don't have love and happiness in your life as well and that's where Ryan comes in and saves the day quite literally.

I loved the humorous feel over their relationship but that emotional part was just what the thing to make it even better and more powerful.
I would only have wished for to hear Ryan's side of the story, that would have been icing on a cake.

Jeannine Collette always make an impact on me and I can't wait to see what she writes next.
And have you seen that beautiful cover???
I am in love with her covers alone and don't even get me started on all her work.

Don't take my word for it, go and read them all and you will not be disappointed!

6 'I'll play you. A win for a sin.' Stars

If you only read one book this year, read this one!!!

From the cover, to the words within, there was not a single thing that I did not LOVE about this mighty little novella! It packs a punch, full of witty, sarcastic laced banter that is chock-full of attitude with a side of heart and all the gushy, angsty little feels that I have come to love experiencing from a stellar story. I seriously can't even right now. This is the kind of book I crave to indulge in!

'Men only care about two things- their dicks and their wallets. The smaller one is, the bigger the other one seems to get.'

Though you really can't tell from my manic ramblings, I'm quite speechless at the moment. I'm simply floating in that mind blown euphoric state, THAT high feeling you get after devouring, one of the best books you've ever read. Yes, it was just THAT amazing.

Sucked in, entranced and enthralled from the first page, I knew I was in for one heck of an amazing read! Goofy grin plastered on my face- check!, I dove in for the read of my year... sure it's early in 2017 but let me tell you it's going to take something quite earth shattering and breath taking to knock Sinful Abandon from the top of my favourites list.

'Perhaps tears are a side effect of getting burned.'

Jeannine Colette has a true God given talent for the written word, each story is laced with such intricate and precise puns and plays on life. One, where a simple sentence can be taken in a variety of ways, all relating and continue to pertain to the story line at hand, a true authentic literary journey. Sinful Abandon is just that, sinful.

'Every taste and each sensation is more powerful with every swipe of the tongue and dance of the lips.'

Heather's journey in life takes a bit of a turn after the handsome Ryan opens that cab door. This is a sinfully delicious story of love smacking you in the face *wink* You can try to fight it, resist it, but love always wins... or so we hope.

This is my first Jeannine Colette book. I don't usually pay much attention to novellas, but this one really packed a punch and was worth reading.

Due to the dreadful upbringing Heather experienced, the most important thing to her in life is financial security. She didn't experience the love of a family and at times didn't know how she'd get her next meal. Heather is crude and not ashamed of the way she feels. This is exactly why her boss is the perfect fit for her...he's rich and doesn't want to marry for love.

In comes Ryan, a man she meets one night trying to hail a cab after finding her boyfriend in a compromising position. The chemistry between them is unstoppable, but Heather is the last person to believe in love. As they start spending more time together Heather realizes what she's been missing in her life. The only problem is he's ten years younger than her!

Ryan is young, but he knows something good when he sees it. I love the cougar twist. This novella really packed a punch in a short amount of time and I had all the feels of a full length story!

Read this book in a day...this is the first book/novella I have read on this author. I really enjoyed her writing style. This was a great book but I feel it could have been an amazing book had we explored or extend some scenes/storylines. This book is part of a series so it is quite possible where I haven't read those other ones that I may have missed some background store pertaining to Heather if she was a secondary character in a prior story. I love Ryan!!! I wish all me. His age were that genuine, understanding and patient as he is. Heather has some issues from her childhood and I'm glad that Ryan helps her see what she "really" needs/wants. I plan on checking out other books in this series !!!

****4 ‘Rich In Love’ STARS****

What makes you feel safe in life? Secure? Is it money? Power? Love? What would you be willing to sacrifice to get it? Jeannine Colette’s Novella Sinful Abandon takes you on one woman’s hunt for financial security – disdaining love, and the ultimate sacrifice that comes with it.

“…it also needed to have the number one thing I was looking for in a job – a rich single boss.”

Heather McCallister (h) has it all figured out. She wants money. Lots and lots of money. And she’ll marry any man who has it. He painfully neglected childhood motivated her to become self-sufficient working 3 jobs to get through college and find a well-paying job. Beautiful apartment? Done. Designer clothing? Yep. Red soled shoes? Of course. Rich husband to ensure future permanent financial security? Um, no, working on that. Cold hard cash is Heather’s safety blanket. Her family taught her how flighty love is – it doesn’t keep your belly full and it doesn’t pay the bills. She’s got a rich man ready to provide a ring and a bank account – her plan’s right on schedule. Until the chivalrous handsome stranger on the street tried to steal her cab. He’s a decade younger and broke – she couldn’t possibly have anything in common with him.

“No Heather, I think you’re lost. You just need to be found.”

How do you convince the woman you want to spend your life with that love’s worth the risk when all she’s looking for is a seven digit bank account – and you’ve got $80.00 to your name? That love can equal security and safety – be your home. Ryan Pierson (H) is fascinated by the real Heather – the one that smiles and laughs with him. The one that listens to 90’s pop music and dances in her living room like nobody’s watching. He’s frustrated and disgusted that the ‘other Heather’ – the one that’s scared to death of repeating her childhood poverty – won’t give up her plan to land a rich man. He just needs a chance to prove to her that ‘they’ can be a beautiful reality…and money will never make her feel what he can.

“…I realize that I have never been held before. Not like this. Not by anyone.”

I really enjoyed Ryan and Heather’s emotional journey to love and taking chances. Heather’s brief moments of vulnerability coupled with Ryan’s steadfast need to give Heather a reason to abandon her master plan made me root for their forever. I would have liked to see an epilogue as the resolution and ending wrapped up very quickly; however, I loved the story and will definitely read another in the Abandon series. All in all, Sinful Abandon was a quick heartfelt story of finding your way (and your soulmate) when you never expected to, and planned for something completely different.

“Every once in a while, you open those palms, and he beauty inside shows so bright, I’m blinded.”

Sinful Abandon
Jeannine Collette
Author review
4 Stars

Arc received in exchange for an honest review.

So, I’m not a fan of novellas, but I’ve read almost all of Jeannine Collette books so it was a no brainer to read this too. I loved the idea of this book although main character Heather McCallister and her want for a rich husband was a bit of a “pause moment ” for me. But that didn’t stop je reading and shouldn’t stop you either.

With a horrible upbringing with a mother that left her with an alcoholic abusive father, Heather now a producer is 100% sure the man she will marry will be rich giving her the life she wants, but was deprived of as a child. That is until she sees the man she intends to be engaged to with his pants down and thrusting into the weather girl. Shocked and furious she runs from her workplace and into the arms literally of a man, tall, strong and incredibly handsome. With a argument at the door of the cab they both wanted and the humiliation of losing her clothing on the street, she asks him to join her at her place.

Within minutes, the pair are falling into each others arms, an night of passion that comes crashing down the following morning when Heather discovers her Ryan Pierson is none other than the new intern at her company. Horrified and turned on she cannot believe that she not only opened her body to this man but also so much information. Now discovering he is 21yrs old and an unpaid intern, her mind move at 100 miles per hour. He could ruin everything for her and her still planned marriage.

But while Heather moves on with her wishes for wealth, she discovers that there is something more to people than money, and being comfortable. Her feeling towards Ryan continue to grow and although she wishes them away, she cannot deny the way that man makes her feel. Before she realises what has lost, Ryan declares his love for her and she kicks him to the curb moving ahead once again with the man who has the money, the trust fund and a wandering penis. He is scum but by the time she recognises the man she wants he has gone. Now she will really have to dig deep and rekindle what she lost with Ryan.

Effectively starting again where their whole crazy relationship started, both declare their love.... Money can’t fix everything, but for Heather it is love that will fix everything.
