WANTED: The World: The Well-Meant Offer of the Gospel from a Missionary's Perspective
The Puritan evangelist Richard Alleine once wrote the following of the sincere love of God and His desire for the salvation of all who hear the invitation of the
“I tell you again, I wish you well; and not only I, but the Lord God that hath sent me to The Lord Jesus wishes you well; he wishes and wooes, wooes and weeps, weeps and dies, that your Souls might live, and be blessed for He hath once more sent me to you, even to the worst amongst you, to tell you from him, that he's unwilling you should perish; that he hath a kindness for you in his heart, if you will accept it…”
In this short volume, missionary Trevor Johnson defends this same view, that God desires the salvation, in some fashion, of all men, and that this gospel is a true and sincere appeal and invitation.
Johnson writes as one who fully affirms the absolute sovereignty of God, the Five Points of Calvinism, and even the judicial hatred of God for unrepentant sinners, and yet is troubled by a growing trend among some Calvinists to deny the sincere and well-meant offer of the gospel.
Johnson affirms that if someone asks you this query from a tortured soul, “Do you believe that God really wants to save even me?" that you can answer most assuredly, "Yes! God would have you to be saved and would rejoice over your salvation even now!"
We mirror the very heart of God when we love souls and desire their salvation.
As that great theologian Louis Berkhof writes, “We believe that God "unfeignedly," that is, sincerely or in good faith, calls all those who are living under the gospel to believe, and offers them salvation in the way of faith and repentance…”
May this book be a means of igniting your heart for the lost and teaching you something of the lovingkindness of our great God, who is so worthy of worship.

In this short book, Trevor Johnson tackles the question, “Can I tell people indiscriminately that God loves them and still be Biblically faithful?”
Johnson, a 5-point Calvinist who is a current missionary in Southeast Asia, refutes the idea that Reformed theology, and more importantly the Bible, teaches that God is insincere in His Gospel invitation to the world.
Using Scripture and many quotes from Calvinist theologians the author skillfully shows that God indeed loves the world and desires the salvation of all. He confronts the Hyper-Calvinist belief that God only truly loves the elect.
This was a great little read that increased my zeal for sharing the Gospel with any and all who will hear me, as well as increased my love for my Sovereign Savior who truly loves the lost.
There is no reason to sacrifice the lovingkindness of God or to minimize His kind entreaties in an effort to magnify His sovereignty . The sovereign God is a loving God whose disposition is to bless His creation .

I really enjoyed this book. It clears up a lot of misgivings about predestination and the true call of the Gospel. Thankful that this si out there.
