Every body has a price. The brutal murder of a Polish office worker leads to a tangled web of duplicity stretching from the heart of Detective Ray Logue's police department all the way to the upper echelons of political power.Set in Ireland at the peak of the Celtic Tiger era, this is a dark story of murder, organised crime and political corruption.
Damaged is set in Ireland, in the days of the Celtic Tiger. It tells the story of a murder, and an Irish detective's determination to track down the killer. He is led along a path of discovery that uncovers corruption and connivance in all levels of power. Detective Ray Logue is a flawed character, one who is all the more interesting because of his flaws. He is a haunted man who is fighting his own demons even as he attempts to find the murderer. This story is evocative of Ireland, and the characters are well drawn and authentic. There is no doubt that the author is both Irish and well informed about the era and that gives a genuineness to the story. The action is tight and the story moves along quickly, carrying the reader with it. The ending has a twist that I did not see coming and it resonated with me for days after. I thoroughly recommend this book.
