I know I might be the odd one out but about 70% of these stories I've already read or own as stand alones. So, I wasnt exactly happy that this was put together with old stories mostly. Dont get me wrong its a great book for those who are new to the authors and a great buy and plus you know Christmas tales. So, this wont be a 5 star for me but it wont be disliked either. I cant be too upset with the price .99. I regret buying but I do recommend if you've not read these authors before. Honestly, I like the stories but I've read most of them already and wanted something new. :)
This review is only for The Werewolf's Christmas Wish (Nocturne Falls, #4.6) by Kristen Painter, however, the anthology contains many interesting stories from many great authors. This novella was originally published in Hex the Halls anthology and it is featuring Bridget and Sam's story. Bridget finally got her story. She shows up here and there a bit and a bit more in the second book, where we also meet Sam. It is a short story but not rushed. They are both familiar and lovely characters and now we get to know them better. It could work as a standalone but since I love Nocturne Falls, I highly recommend the series, especially in order: The Vampire's Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls #1), The Werewolf Meets His Match (Nocturne Falls #2), The Gargoyle Gets His Girl (Nocturne Falls, #3), The Professor Woos The Witch (Nocturne Falls, #4), The Witch’s Halloween Hero (Nocturne Falls #4.5) in Spell of the Ball anthology and the latest book The Vampire’s Fake Fiancée (Nocturne Falls #5). I can't wait for the next book and I hope they go on forever.
These box sets are always worth it because they have a lot for the value. I always find a lot of good books for the nominal price tag. It is a definite savings for the books you will be enjoying. I have read the authors I love, plus found some new ones with this box set. I have only listed the ones I found to be worth a 2nd or 3rd read. That doesn’t mean these aren’t all great books, for they are, but the ones I am listing, really found me re-reading them multiple times. MANDY M. ROTH - HUNTED HOLIDAY-- This was a cute and super-fast holiday read. Dani hasn’t liked the holidays in a long time; in face some could say she hates the holidays. Cornell is her boss and he gets her blood raging. But there is something there between them that is more than two coworkers, something that is more than just professional courtesy. It is attraction , shared attraction. Will they or wont they? Oh its worth a read. Midnight Magic - Ann Gimpel -- Cassie has two magical parents but that gene slipped by her. Now when she needs magic, it eludes her for her mom needs her help. Tyler is her jerface boyfriend of sorts who refuses to leave while long time friend Jeremy is the guy who has been in love with her for a long time. Now Cassie doesn’t know he is in love with her, she does know he has been in her corner for many years. Things are going on around her which are starting to make her uneasy and she is finally starting to wise up and start to see what has been going on. Cassie knows Tyler has to go but what about Jeremy? She feels so much for him , can she make him see or will Jeremy get her to see? I really loved the outcome in this story. Everlastingly by Michelle Pillow: What a super short novella that was great for the mystery as well as the passion. Maura has to find something to solve a mystery, but she doesn't know whom/what. If I tell you about the mystery, it will give away the story so its best that you just need to read this book. It is a very short novella about Love and the theory of everlasting. Everyone wants it but few find it. Maura is suddenly running in the snow, away from some unknown danger. Can she and the man known as Jack solve the mystery?
Kissed by Temptation by Deanna Chase—Short, sweet and to the point novella about Mati and her boyfriend Vaughn. You get the romance, the chase and the humor. The only thing I think maybe I would have liked alittle less of—the supporting character of Janie. There is a lot of action-adventure, a lot of passion jammed into this short and sweet novella so be prepared. I loved how Mati and Vaughn were committed and the other cast of supporting characters were awesome. Maybe there will be books about the other characters down the road. The rest of the books in this boxed set are : CELIA KYLE - HELL FOR THE HOLIDAYS, ELLE THORNE – COMPLICATION, MINA CARTER - SEDUCED BY SANTA – PARANORMAL PROTECTION AGENCY 4, P. JAMESON - A MATE’S WISH – OUACHITA SHIFTERS 0.5, KRISTEN PAINTER - THE WEREWOLF’S CHRISTMAS WISH, CHLOE COLE - SUGAR PLUM FAIRY COLLEEN GLEASON - RAGING WINTER K.F. BREENE - JAMESON BELLA LOVE-WINS - DOOMED MATE DEANNA CHASE - KISSED BY TEMPTATION JENNIFER BLACKSTREAM - DEAD TO BEGIN WITH ANGIE FOX - GENTLEMEN PREFER VOODOO ANN GIMPEL - MIDNIGHT MAGIC CHRISTINE POPE - A CLEOPATRA HILL CHRISTMAS MARIE MASON - THE MCCALL BROTHER TRILOGY, ANTHEA LAWSON - A COUNTESS FOR CHRISTMAS BIANCA D’ARC - ROCKY JOVEE WINTERS - THE ICE QUEEN TASHA BLACK - GHOST OF SHIFTERS PAST JC ANDRIJESKI - BLACK CHRISTMAS (PLUS A BONUS STORY) DAWN MONTGOMERY - KITCHEN WITCH JAYCEE CLARK - FIREBIRD SUZANNE ROCK - UP ON THE HOUSETOP TRACEY H. KITTS - THE ETERNAL KISS CELESTE ANWAR - WOLF’S CONSORT, JAX CASSIDY - THE PSYCHIC’S BEAST

SINFULLY NAUGHTY BUT OH SO NICE !!! Title: Alphas for the Holidays Author: Multiple Designation: Paranormal/Supernatural/Fantasy Multi-Author Collection of Twenty-Eight Standalone Holiday Novellas and Novelettes (2230 pages) Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: Five Deliciously Sexy Stars***** Wow! What a collection! Merry Christmas to me! And WOW...What a bargain! The elf organizers for Taming the Alpha anthology series have really outdone themselves this year. They've taken over the North Pole and poor Santa will probably never be the same! I think he had a nervous breakdown! lol.. But as a result, they've come up with something especially naughty this yuletide season but it is oh so nice! Alphas for the Holidays is a delightfully entertaining collection of twenty-eight wonderfully diverse standalone paranormal/supernatural/fantasy novellas and novelettes celebrating the joys of the season and filled to the brim with Werewolves, Dragons, Shifters, Vampires, Fae, Special Forces, Witches, Billionaires, Magics, Ghosts, Demons, Immortals, Elves, Gods, Angels, and More! (Sorry, I counted 28, not 30 as stated in the blurb but I could be wrong.) These winter tales are well crafted, well edited and beautifully written by twenty-eight of the most well-known and highly acclaimed authors in the paranormal/supernatural/fantasy genre today. This is the granddaddy of all sets with contributions from Mandy Roth, Mina Carter, Celia Kyle, Angie Fox, Elle Thorne, Michelle Pillow, Kristen Painter, Chloe Cole, P Jameson, Tasha Black, Deanna Chase, Ann Gimpel, Bella Love-Wins, Colleen Gleason, Marie Mason, J.C. Andrijeski, Tracey H. Kitts, Biana D'Arc, and Dawn Montgomery who are all my favorites. Also included are K.F. Breene, Jennifer Blackstream, Christine Pope, Anthea Lawson, Jovee Winters, Jaycee Clark, Suzanne Rock, Celeste Anwar, and Jax Cassidy, nine new-to-me authors I was able to sample without breaking the bank. There's not a single bad apple in the entire barrel, folks. I loved them all! And these are not snippets, teasers, or excerpts but complete stories with a beginning, middle and end. Some of the stories have been previously published but several in the collection are brand new and never-before-seen contributions and most of the stories were new to me. These stories may be relatively short but they all pack quite a punch and kept me glued to my ereader for several days. And yes, I read every single story! Did I like this collection? No, I LOVED it! Was I entertained? Completely! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since some of the stories do contain explicit language and steamy, dreamy sex. If you're looking for a collection of stories that includes danger, drama, suspense, angst, handsome heroes, beautiful heroines and a sleigh full of hot, sexy romance, then this set is most assuredly for you! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
There are a lot of stories in this anthology, I only read a few of them, so those are the only ones I reviewed.
1. Hunted Holiday (Bureau of Paranormal Investigation #1). **2 Stars This started out very cute. A tough slayer who is in love with her boss but fights it because of their situation. And a vampire who knows his subordinate is his mate but fights it because he doesn't know what she wants. It was a cute will they or won't they, then they got together and it was just kinda lame. 3. Hell for the Holidays (Caith Morningstar) **2 Stars This was cute, until it wasn't. A decorator gets taken to hell to help with a holiday celebration. I think if this ended a little earlier and the dialogue wasn't quite so irksome (especially during her judgment) it could have easily been 4 stars. 4. Complication (Shifters Forever After #1) *1 Star I just couldn't get into this one. It was written as if it was the 2nd or 3rd book in a series and it was really hard to follow. 5. Seduced By Santa (Paranormal Protection #4). **2 Stars This had some cute moments as per Mina Carter's usual MO. But the whole Santa thing is actually super creepy. Never thought about it much, now I know lol. 6. Mate's Wish (Ouachita Mountain Shifters #5) *1 Star Bethany is mad at Renner because they apparently hung out when they were 12 and he doesn't remember. I'm sorry but how can you expect someone to remember you and to recognize you as I'm sure your appearance has changed just a tad. And instead of just saying "you don't remember me?" she acts like a jerk. This was not for me. 7. The Werewolf's Christmas Wish (Nocturn Falls #4.6). ****4 Stars Bridget is into Sam but she thinks he's not interested. Sam wants Bridget but because of his past and his present he doesn't think he deserves her. They are thrust together by a little Christmas magic and sparks fly. This was sweet and adorable. 8. Sugar Plum Fairy ***3 Stars This was a cute and sexy mistaken identity story. 11. Doomed Mate (Under A Fated Moon #1). **2 Stars There is a weird Event that throws the world into chaos and a few people on a plane band together. This was weird, a lot happening. Twins who are turned shifters, an uptight scientist and her kooky sidekick, a know it all kid and a really annoying couple with twin brats. Not too much happened except two of that characters ending up together. 15. Midnight Magic *1 Star I think the blurb about this book was way more satisfying than the actual story. This seemed all over the place, maybe it was stated at some point, but I couldn't figure out the time or place this story was set. Cassie was just a spineless imbecile, you wait a year to do anything about an ex boyfriend living with you while ripping off you and your mother. Bring the police home with you don't threaten things. Ugh and even her dad who apparently left when she was 10 all of a sudden dropping everything to come back when she has magic. No sir, stay gone. In short, I unfortunately hated this. 17. Stranded With The Wolf (McCall Brothers #1) *1 Star So Jarod scents Sara as his mate and hires her as his assistant, but keeps dating other women. Then one day they get snowed in at the office and get together, by the end of it they're on love. It's never really explained why he never said anything, and just absolutely absurd that they have to use the L word...sex does not have to equal love. Also being a virgin does not somehow make your brain not work. I swear this girl was so stupid..."oh I'm surprised I have a hymen I used tampons and went to gym class" "oh I can't have sex with my boss I want to fall in love and have a family"....what the heck is she even talking about?!? 22. Black Christmas (Quentin Black #2.5). ***3 Stars Miri was kidnapped, rescued by Black and brought home...then he left, and she's not happy with him. This was cute, gave a little more depth to Nick and Miri's feelings. 24. Firebird **Stars Reen's family was killed by wolves, she called for help from her betrothed and was ignored. She then became a hunter. Saker was the betrothed who ignored a cry for help and was then disowned...he also became a hunter. They are reunited 20 or so years later when another hunter is kidnapped by a demon known as the collector. This wasn't really terrible but there's something I can't accept. Even if Reen can forgive Saker for ignoring her cries for help, i don't understand how she can look at him and not see her murdered family. Maybe she's just a better person than me but his character just kind of disgusts me. 26. The Eternal Kiss ***3 Stars Selina hasn't had much luck with relationships so a witch friend suggests she summon a demon to help with some of her needs. One night and no strings attached. A Freudian slip of the tongue later and she's stuck with the prince of lust Asmodeus...not that she's complaining. This was ok, short and sweet. I almost wish there was a little more to it, but in a good way. 27. Wolf's Consort (Pack Wars #1) ***3 Stars Alyssia's father is kind of a jerk, so she seizes the opportunity to get away from him for a while and bring a little peace to her clan. Killian wants a little peace, and he wants to annoy the rival alpha. But he enjoys it a little more that he thought he would. This was cute, I wish it was longer.
I enjoyed this book, some stories admittedly weren't quite up to par but others were excellent. My favourite was Kristin Painters story 'A werewolf's Christmas wish'! Great story!
I love PNRs, especially when they're set around the holidays. This terrific box set is a real treat and an absolute bargain.
Paranormal romance is one of my favourite genres, it's top of my list along with Sci-Fi and Fantasy romance and I'm completely addicted to Christmas stories. I read them all year round and have hundreds of them, but I'm always eager to add some more to my collection, especially when they're as good as these. There are some of my absolute all-time favourite authors in this set, as well as a few that are new to me. I haven't read all of them yet, I just began by picking some favourite stories I've actually read before and absolutely loved, but I'm still reading my way through the others. Because the Christmas boxsets tend to be withdrawn quite quickly in the new year, I decided to post a review of the books I've already read, and share my thoughts on what I think are wonderful stories while it's still available. I'll catch up with the ones I haven't read yet later in the year when I have more time to just sit and read.
1 - Hunted Holiday (Paranormal Law Enforcement - Bureau of Paranormal Investigation, Book 1) - Mandy Roth - 5 Stars
Just what every girl wants for Christmas...the bad guys tied up with a big bow.
I love Mandy Roth's books and have bought and read 'a lot' of them, in fact well over a hundred, in the last 12 years or so. I absolutely loved this laugh out loud funny short story for the holiday season when I originally bought it from Amazon UK three Christmases ago and read it in a few hours, irritating my partner no end - I was so absorbed in the book I didn't hear a word he said or even notice when dinner was put in front of me. I've read it so many times since then that if it'd been a paper book it would've fallen apart by now. Yes, I love it that much and it always leaves me chuckling.
This is the story of Dani Malloye, Slayer - oops sorry, I mean Paranormal Law Enforcement agent, who hates Christmas for very good reasons. Her best friend Mimi thinks the fact that Dani hasn't celebrated Christmas since she was 13 years old is some kind of challenge, but in the ten years since vampires slaughtered her family, Dani's pain at this time of year has not diminished.
Cornell Sutton is Dani's boss at the Chicago Bureau of Paranormal Investigation and a stickler for the rules and regulations which govern their working life. He is also a 300 year old born vampire who has watched over his mate without her knowledge since she was 18 years old and has spent the last five years as close to her as he could get without actually being with her, even going so far as to build a huge replica of his Gothic mansion home, complete with gargoyles and pet hellhounds, on the three plots next door.
Watching Dani building a snowman with an unusually positioned carrot and having fun making snow angels with her BFF, he is goaded by his friend Finn into taking action. He's going to vampire-up, put on his big boy pants and finally claim his mate...
This is a great short story for the season of goodwill, forgiveness and hope and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. As is typical of Mandy's books, it's written with her usual great sense of humour and had me laughing out loud about the zucchini (courgette) (no, no, no, I won't tell, even if you torture me with chocolate, you'll just have to read it yourself), affection, great characters and of course, the HEA. Mandy always manages to pack a lot of information on background and characters into a small space, so you always feel like you have as much of the whole story as you can get. Like the vast majority of her books, this can be read as a stand alone story which, to my great delight, has become a series and I've happily read, or more like devoured, the other books as well.
I really loved this story and, like her other books, I'll continue to read it again and again and again and.... I'm sure you get the picture. More please....
2 - Everlastingly - Michelle M. Pillow - 3 stars
I originally bought this as a stand alone from Amazon UK a couple of years ago because I love Michelle M. Pillow's books, but sometimes I feel like I've lost the plot and sadly, this is one of those books. It's a ghost story as well as being about a love that has lasted what seems like forever, and it goes around in circles until the person gets everything right. Very Groundhog Day except time is running out and she has to get it right this time.
3 - Hell for the Holidays - Celia Kyle - 5 Stars
This is definitely a Christmas paranormal romance with a difference and I absolutely loved it.
OK, so it's probably some kind of accolade and a great opportunity, but being kidnapped by a drool-worthy and hunk-alicious pink, yes I did say pink, demon who says he's Hell's Ambassador, to decorate Hell for the totally not Christmas holidays, wasn't really the sort of job she could actually put on her CV (resume), and the demon babes were seriously scarey, they had horns, and fangs, and tails, and... things, really couldn't sing and scared Holly Boughs, window decorator extraordinaire, literally to death. It causes all kinds of mayhem, especially when smitten demon Damon Damas calls to 'on-high' to help save his love. Love? oh damn....
If you're looking for a good paranormal romance with built in stomach and facial exercises, this one will keep you laughing from beginning to end and I really can't recommend it highly enough. But, beware Damon's little demon sidekick because I developed something of a soft spot for him. I originally bought this book a few years ago as a stand alone with a different title and loved it so much I've read it over and over again.
4 - Complication (Shifters Forever After, Book 1) - Elle Thorne
This book is pretty long and I haven't had time to read it yet, but as Elle Thorne is one of my favourite authors, as soon as I do have time, I'll be immersed in it.
5 - Seduced by Santa (Paranormal Protection Agency, Book 4) - Mina Carter - 5 Stars
Yes, I'm one of those! One of those people who read Christmas stories all year round and I've just finished reading 'Seduced by Santa', the fourth book in the Paranormal Protection Agency series by Mina Carter, one of my favourite authors. I'll confess, it's not the first time I've read it, or the second, or even the tenth, in fact I've lost count of how many times I've read this terrific short about Christmas Elf Rhod Claus and his mate, Candy Kane since I originally bought the volume one boxset from Amazon UK about two and a half years ago. I also have a stand alone copy I bought this year, also from Amazon UK, as well as the one in this set. You can never have enough copies of terrific books. I love this short, sweet, very steamy paranormal romance about two people who find each other in less than ideal circumstances and find their happily ever after. Full of humour and Christmas spirit, it has the feel-good factor in spades and always leaves me with a smile on my face.
6 - A Mate's Wish - P. Jameson
I've actually already got this book. I bought it from Amazon UK as a stand alone in July 2015, but owing to assorted disasters, I haven't actually read it yet.
7 - The Werewolf's Christmas Wish (Nocturne Falls) - Kristen Painter
Although I've come across this author before, and have bought several of her books including the first book in this series from Amazon UK, it's been a rough year and I haven't had time to read any of them yet, but I have got to read this, it sounds fantastic. I think I could easily get hooked on this series.
8 - Sugar Plum Fairy - Chloe Cole
I enjoy Chloe Cole's books, and this sounds like it'll be a fun story, when I have the time to read it.
9 - Raging Winter (A Max Denton Vampire Hunter Story) - Colleen Gleason
Colleen Gleason is a new to me author, but the blurb sounds good.
10 - Jameson (Darkness Series, Book 9) - K.F. Breene
Although I've bought several books by this author from Amazon UK including the latest due for release as a Prime first, I haven't had time to read any of them yet so, a completely new to me author, and there's no blurb for the story so I have no idea what to expect when I finally read this one. A surprise in store..
I love Deanna Chase's books and have been reading them for years so I was really looking forward to this holiday treat from her Coven Pointe series when I first read it as part of another Christmas boxset I bought from Amazon UK in November 2014, and I wasn't disappointed. I've loved reading it again and now I really need to catch up with the other books I've got in this series that I can hear calling me, but they'll have to wait until I have time to just sit and read.
Mati Ballintine, a sex witch working for the angel Council has been forced by her sister to babysit newbie angel Janie. Not top of her list of fun things to do, and it's the night of Janie's Magical Sorority party.. o joy. But after a run in with a couple of demons the week before, Janie needs the protection, so Mati and her incubus boyfriend Vaughn have become the first line of defence. Sadly for Mati, Vaughn had been out of town tracking down demons for weeks but he'd got his Brotherhood colleague Chase to play her date for the night, which starts off well enough, gets better when Vaughn turns up and then the Sorority witch's mixer magic kicks in.....
Magic, mayhem, angels and demons with chaos thrown in for good measure, I really enjoyed this sizzling story with a happy ending.
13 - Dead to Begin With (Blood Prince Series) - Jennifer Blackstream
“One vampire. A second chance. Three spirits." This is a completely new author to me, and the tagline sounds very 'A Christmas Carol', a book I think all children should be forced to read at least once a year until the message sticks. Also my all-time favourite Christmas story with a lesson to be learned. I can only hope this one is just as good, but with added romance and sizzle. I can't wait...
14 - Gentlemen Prefer Voodoo (Friends of the Biker Witches) - Angie Fox
I read my very first Angie Fox story in another Christmas boxset I bought from Amazon UK in November 2014, which got me completely hooked on her Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries, and I'm sure that when I read this one, it'll have the same effect and I'll be hooked on the Friends of the Biker Witches series too.
15 - Midnight Magic - Ann Gimpel - Currently reading and promises 5 Stars
I absolutely love Ann Gimpel's books and she's one of my favourite authors, frequently crossing genres with her terrific stories and always stretching the boundaries of paranormal, fantasy and science fiction, with and without romance, so it's often hard, if not impossible, to pigeon-hole her books into a particular genre because they do a spectacularly good job of being all of them at the same time, although 'Midnight Magic' is a stand alone paranormal romance, as well as being totally spellbinding stories. I'm currently reading this one, and so far, it's looking like another fantastic 5 star read.
16 - A Cleopatra Hill Christmas (The Witches of Cleopatra Hill) - Christine Pope
Although I've got a lot of books by this author in several genres, including the first book in this series, I haven't had time to read it yet so I have no idea what to expect when I finally have the time to read this one, but it sounds like it'll be a lot of fun.
The McCall Brother Trilogy - Marie Mason
I love Marie Mason's books and have been reading them for years. I can't wait to read these, but, because of the way the chapters are numbered, I think they need to be read as a single book so they'll have to wait until I have enough time to read them together.
17 - Stranded with the Wolf - Jarod
18 - Rescued by the Wolf - Hunter
19 - Saved by the Wolf - Logan
20 - A Countess for Christmas - Anthea Lawson
Anthea Lawson is a completely new author to me. Being something of a history buff, and based on the books I've read over the years in this genre, I know that these types of stories don't tell it like it was and make things out to be something far nicer and a lot less brutal for women than they actually were, so I'm not a particular fan of historical romance, but I'll give it a try at some point.
21 - Rocky (Tales of Were, Book ) - Bianca D'Arc - 5 Stars
I love Bianca D'Arc's books and have read 'a lot', in fact nearly all, of them, she's one of my favourite authors and I've been hooked on the Tales of Were for what seems like forever. I absolutely loved this book when I first bought it from Amazon UK and read it in December 2012. I've read it a few more times since then, and although I didn't really have time to read it again now, I just couldn't help myself, and once I'd started, I couldn't stop. I always get lost in this terrific holiday story as soon as I start reading and am totally oblivious to everything else until I get to the end.
Werebear Rocky has lived a lonely existence on the mountain with the Lords of Were and the high-priestess of the Goddess since his true mate, Maggie, married his best friend, fellow grizzly and shaman Tony. He couldn't stay and watch them, even though he was happy for them, it was too painful so he left their hometown of Whitefish and carved out a new life and a place for himself with the Lords and their pack, but now she's on his doorstep, widowed, heavily pregnant with twins and in labour, running for their lives and being chased by the Venificus, dark and evil enemies the followers of the Light have fought and defeated before. After eight months on the run, desperately trying to evade her pursuers, Maggie arrives in Rocky's driveway on Halloween and about to give birth. Rocky loves her with all his heart and soul, always has, and can't do anything else but gratefully accept the gift fate has finally given him.... and call for help...
This is a wonderful, sweet, funny and action packed story of loss, second chances, new beginnings, and most importantly, love. Filled with magic, mayhem and steamy bits with a happily ever after that always leaves me with a smile on my face and goodwill in my heart. I absolutely love it. Although part of a series, there is enough background information in the story that you won't feel like you've missed the overall picture and it can easily be read as a stand alone.
22 - The Ice Queen - Jovee Winters
I've read a few Jovee Winters books, so I'm looking forward to reading this retelling of the story of The Snow Queen with a difference... when I get the time.
23 - Ghost of Shifters Past (Tarker's Hollow) - Tasha Black - 5 Stars
I love Tasha Black's Tarker's Hollow series and I loved this one too when I first read it as part of another boxset I bought from Amazon UK last Christmas (2015). A spirit from the past. A love for the future. Wolf shifter and college librarian Bonnie Summers feels like an outsider in Tarker’s Hollow, and before she moved from Copper Creek it was described to her by her friend Erik as a small college town that’s home to a secret enclave of shifters just like her, but to Bonnie it feels more like a bustling city.
Despite a warm welcome from the pack, and an abundance of handsome suitors, Bonnie still feels alone, even more so after Cressida Crow set her up on a date with J.D. MacGregor. Until a spirit from the town’s mysterious past decides to pay her a visit, stoking the flames of her desire, and begging for her help. Now, her primal passions ignited, Bonnie, a natural mystery and puzzle solver, needs to unravel a dark secret in time, and collect a set of wooden totem animals that are so much more than they appear to be, in order to save the man who holds the key to her salvation. But she has to find them first....
24 - Black Christmas (Quentin Black Mysteries, Book 2.5) - JC Andrijeski
I love the Quentin Black Mystery series and can't wait until I have time to read these two books, but I may have to read the others in the series as well, just so I know I haven't missed anything - yes, OK, I'll use any excuse to read good books again.
25 - Black Supper (Quentin Black Mysteries, Book 3.5) - JC Andrijeski
26 - Kitchen Witch - Dawn Montgomery
I haven't come across this author before, and this is the first book of hers I've got, so I have no idea what to expect from this story, but it sounds like it'll be really good.
27 - Firebird - Jaycee Clark
I've got a few books by this author, but they're all in boxsets and I haven't read them yet so I'm not sure what to expect from this story, but I love myths and legends, so I hope it'll deliver what promises, from the blurb, to be a good tale.
28 - Up on the Housetop (Kyron Pack, Book 1) - Suzanne Rock
I've actually got a couple of books by this author, including a stand alone copy of this one, but I haven't had time to read any of them yet, so Suzanne Rock is effectively a completely new to me author, but I liked the sound of the blurb, and I'm looking forward to reading this, when I get the time.
29 - The Eternal Kiss - Tracey H. Kitts
I've got a few books by this author, all but one in other boxsets, and I haven't had time to read them yet. This sounds like it could be a lot of fun, so although I haven't read anything by this author before, I'm looking forward to it immensely.
'A paranormal holiday romance'. Probably the shortest story outline ever, and an author I've never come across, let alone read, before so I have no idea what to expect or even what this story is about besides the description, which is so thin it's practically skeletal, but boxsets like this one are a great way to discover new authors, and over the years I've found quite a few very good ones I've continued to read, so I look forward to reading this with relish and maybe add another author to my 'must read' list. Only time will tell...
31 - The Psychic's Beast - Jax Cassidy
I haven't read anything by this author before, and have absolutely no idea what to expect, but the blurb sounds like a great twist on Beauty and the Beast, one of my favourite fairy stories, so I can't wait to read it.
These box sets are always good value for money even if there is only one book you enjoy. I have read the authors I love plus a few more hoping to find one or two new authors. MANDY M. ROTH - HUNTED HOLIDAY A good fun laugh out loud read. Two fated mates lusting after each other from afar because they are boss and employee. The friend Mimi stole the story. MICHELLE M. PILLOW - EVERLASTINGLY Such a sad story, my heart broke for Jack and Maura. CELIA KYLE - HELL FOR THE HOLIDAYS A fun read. Satan wants some holiday cheer down below so sends Damon the demon (see how this is) to find some. He kidnaps Holly Boughs but gets more than he bargained for, falling hard for the little human when she stands up to Lucifer and tells him off. ELLE THORNE - COMPLICATION An interesting read that starts the Shifters Forever After series. Another new series in Ms Thornes fantastic SHIFTERS FOREVER WORLD. MINA CARTER - SEDUCED BY SANTA – PARANORMAL PROTECTION AGENCY 4 What a wonderful short cheery Christmas story. It was nice to touch the PPA group again even if only lightly. Longer review for book available. P. JAMESON - A MATE’S WISH – OUACHITA SHIFTERS 0.5 An interesting new series but I am not too keen on the unfaithfulness influence these people have been raised with. I didn't like the stupid code Magic kept harping on about or the expectation of being unfaithful. What woman is going into that sort of relationship? How can you not be with your life mate, how can it be wrong? I know they have had bad examples but what your parents do is not what you should do. The fact Renner had been an ass to Bethany as a child was not good either. I could understand both points of view in that respect. Bethany was one brave woman to take that risk on Renner but I feel like it will pay off big time for them. It will be interesting to see where this series goes with this eclectic group of cat shifters and the mates they end up with. KRISTEN PAINTER - THE WEREWOLF’S CHRISTMAS WISH This is a part of the Nocturne Falls series. A good short read. CHLOE COLE - SUGAR PLUM FAIRY A good story but it was mainly sex for half of the book so can’t really say much about Holly or Alex. I understand that the story was about Fairy Holly teaching Alex to be sexy to attract a woman but Alex really was an ass about leading Holly on. COLLEEN GLEASON - RAGING WINTER This is a novella for a series and not my cup of tea. Disliked the male lead Max, thought he was not a nice person and nothing like the sort of hero I want to read about. Max’s wife was killed by vampires14 years previously. He has recently been in love with Savina but he leaves her after 18 months together. He treated the woman he loved abysmally and left her for two years then it gets worse in that he has a daughter he has not spoken too for 14 years. Not a nice person. K.F. BREENE - JAMESON This is book 9 in a series so I wasn’t sure whether to read it or not but reviews seemed promising. Whilst I enjoyed it I did not know what Jameson was until half way through, there was references to my kind and what they could do but not that he was a vampire. I thought he was an immortal warrior or something at first. Loved that we had a tough as nails capable female shifter heroine and an equally hot strong determined male hero. I liked all the secondary characters we met and will be looking into this series. BELLA LOVE-WINS - DOOMED MATE Not quite sure about this one, a bit strange. Liked the story and it could have been good but it must tie in with a series as some things are never explained. Not really very clear as to whether Gunnar and Serena are mates either as no declarative statements are made. Badly in need of proof reading as well. DEANNA CHASE - KISSED BY TEMPTATION JENNIFER BLACKSTREAM - DEAD TO BEGIN WITH ANGIE FOX - GENTLEMEN PREFER VOODOO ANN GIMPEL - MIDNIGHT MAGIC 1 star - Whilst I hate low rating any book, I like a story to grab me from page one or at least by the end of chapter one. I couldn’t get past chapter one to finish it. Cassie was a doormat and I didn’t like her after reading the first few paragraphs. Talk about being obtuse, pathetic and feeling sorry for yourself. Letting her ex-boyfriend Tyler stay when they weren’t even a couple, she believes he has done something to her mother, allows him to threaten her and takes no action. She comes across as weak and an idiot just in the first chapter. In not trusting her instincts or her friend Jeremy who does have powers to help her she annoyed me. CHRISTINE POPE - A CLEOPATRA HILL CHRISTMAS MARIE MASON - THE MCCALL BROTHER TRILOGY (3 BOOKS) I have written full reviews for these books on amazon.com.au and goodreads.com but to quickly recap. Disliked Jarod in book 1, he was a JERK but really enjoyed books 2 and 3. ANTHEA LAWSON - A COUNTESS FOR CHRISTMAS BIANCA D’ARC - ROCKY TALES OF THE WERE Didn’t realise that I have some of this series on my TBR pile. Will be getting to them sooner rather than later. A good read that is part of a series but was enjoyable as a standalone even though it was a bit sad. JOVEE WINTERS - THE ICE QUEEN TASHA BLACK - GHOST OF SHIFTERS PAST Enjoyable but a bit confusing and short. JC ANDRIJESKI - BLACK CHRISTMAS (PLUS A BONUS STORY) I tried the first book in this series and found it slow going and a bit confusing. These two did not improve my opinion. Whilst this will be right up some peoples reading street it is not mine. DAWN MONTGOMERY - KITCHEN WITCH JAYCEE CLARK - FIREBIRD SUZANNE ROCK - UP ON THE HOUSETOP TRACEY H. KITTS - THE ETERNAL KISS A witch is more powerful than she knows when she summons not just a lust demon to fulfill her loneliness but the Prince of Lust himself. A really lovely enjoyable tale. CELESTE ANWAR - WOLF’S CONSORT Not my cup of tea. Dislike it when women are treated like crap and are chattel. JAX CASSIDY - THE PSYCHIC’S BEAST A really cheesy play on various fairy tales but quite entertaining for all that.
Hunted Holiday is a short romance about a slayer and a vampire, Dani and Cornell. Mandy Roth always writes these long-overdue love stories well; they're some of my favorites. Hunted Holiday is a quick, enjoyable read. I'm working my way through the rest of this collection, so I'll update as I finish them.
I love reading a large collection of books to find new series & writers. The were exciting & imaginative. I am going to Amazon right after this review to buy other stories by these excellent creators of fantasy/paranormal romance.
Loved this anthology! There were so many wonderful stories and some awesome new authors that I got introduced to. Every kind of fabulous holiday story was gathered in one spot and it's well worth the time to read them all!
Each story was incredible. I couldn’t stop reading this series once I started the books. Each author should be very proud of the work they did. They touch your heart completely and bring you joy while you read.
There were some great reads in here. Authors that I will definitely read again. There were also some really bad books. Worth it for the few gems though I think.
Between reading many other books, I finally finished this excellent book! I enjoyed all the stories except one which I could never finish. The rest of the stories were excellent! They touched my heart and even brought tears to my eyes.
I was ecstatic to get to read or in some cases to re-read MMR and other favourite authors holiday books. This box set is definitely value for money, with new and old favourites to lift the spirits and warm the room. I've finished all the stories, but won't be doing a review on them all, just on a few standouts to me. Raging Winter Jameson - Darkness series #9 - hooked me and now I want to read the rest of the series. A Countess For Christmas - Historical romance with a little ghost and a lot of heart. Rocky The Ice Queen - really great read, made me cry, made me laugh and smile. I fell in love with the characters and shared their story like I was there. Everyone has had something that hurts so bad you wanted to shut out all emotions.......this is the Ice Queen who finds love in the harshest conditions. Ghost of Shifters Past - Fate is a twisting thing, that maybe even though we love someone neither of you are in a place to be together. Love, death and demons bring them back together. Black Christmas (PLUS A BONUS STORY) Kitchen Witch Firebird - short read that rolls you around and brings you back together. Up on the Housetop - Breaking free on the constraints of your parents expectations for a love that will never die. The Eternal Kiss Wolf's Consort - kind of made me laugh that the girl that was to be used will come out on top. Short steamy read. The Psychic's Beast
Hunted holiday by Mandy Roth Fun read. Full of humor and hotness. Can a slayer and a vampire find true love? Lol I will never tell. your going to have to read for yourself. But its fun and the antic of two girls decorating for Christmas had me laughing. Who knew hellhounds could be do loveable
Everlastingly by Michelle pillow A romantic story of love lost and found. Hmm I have a firm rule about giving a story away and spoilin it for someone else to read plus I don't think copying what the author wrote about the story is really a review. So here it goes. This story is magical story in more ways then one. Lol I loved it. It keeps ya guessing until the very end. Heart warming and lovely. True love is ..... worth waiting for. Love lost, a magic spell cast and a heavy price to pay. What would you pay to keep your loved one? Your just going to have to read this one to see
Ghost of shifters past by Tasha Black We are in Tarker's hollow for this story. Bonnie Summers is new wolf shifter in town and Cressida has taken it apon herself to find Bonnie a guy. Only Bonnie has been dreaming of a fox shifter his name is Tokala and she has to help him and his people. Only then she wakes up and it was a dream until she starts seeing clues in the past does she put two and two together Great story I love seeing old friends form past books, poor max he never gets to keep the girl! It's great how much mystery and magic Tasha Black toss into her shifter stories. If you want to walk on the wild side try her tarker's hollow series it's STEAMY!
Midnight magic by Ann Gimpel Cassionetta had gotten a text not to come home tonight to her own home by her live-in boyfriend Tyler because he was having people over and her presence would disturb the energy. Yea as if! It was her home not his. Cassie had enough of him but he wouldn't leave. Her mother was fading away and she was sure Tyler had something to do with it. He had taken her mother's clients, her mother's home and maybe even her mother's life if her didn't do something soon. Tyler was dangerous and used his power to control people to get what he wanted. Jeremy cassie's best friend has a druid. He loved cassie and he was going to save her from Tyler. Lots of mystery and action in this story it's fill with magic, great storyline and awesome characters If you love magic don't miss this one.
Another winner of a Boxed Set. Some great reads here--30 from favorite and maybe some new authors--for under a dollar. How can you pass this up? I couldn't. Here are just a few of the stories included by some of my favorite authors. Everlastingly by Michelle Pillow: Maura has to find something solve a mystery, but she doesn't know what. To tell much about the story would reveal the mystery and you need to read it. This is a very short novella about Everlasting Love. We all want it but few find it. Maura is suddenly running in the snow, away from some unknown danger. Can she and Jack solve the mystery? Ms. Pillow leads you on a merry chase—you decide if the ending is a happy one. Beautiful cover, emotional story. Great little gem of a read. Hunted Holiday by Mandy M Roth: A short holiday gem. I find it necessary to shut myself behind closed doors when reading one of Mandy Roth's short stories. She makes me laugh out loud. Hunted Holiday is no exception. Dani is a Slayer, in lust with her boss, who is a Vampire. He's straight-laced, she's irreverent. The two can never make it as a couple—then why are they fated mates? Dani's best friend tries to force holiday cheer with uber decorating, she knows the holiday holds terrible memories for Dani. Their banter is great. Will her up tight boss object to the display, or surprise Dani and make a move? Read for a delightful short tale. Ghost of Shifters Past: by Tasha Black Another short story involving some Tarker Hollow citizens. Bonnie, newly moved from a smaller town as the lone librarian to handling one section of the huge campus library. That isn't her only adjustment. The shifters here live in and among humans. Her wolf feels caged. She knows few people and wonders if there are any men who might be available.
This story has some wonderful Native American tales, magic, and history. I am fascinated with it all and was glued to this story. Could Bonnie possibly be communicating with a lost band? Her dreams told her it was more. The vision....well, you have to read more to find out where this leads. I promise you will be glad you did. Another winner and recommend from me.
Don't miss this boxed set by some of the best authors around.
>>>>> Reviewing “Midnight Magic” by Ann Gimpel <<<<< Cassie Ceobbinn pulled into her garage. Her ex-boyfriend, Tyler, still living with her much to her dismay, had texted her to stay away! Before she even exited the car, he stormed in and grabbed her arm to stop her. She told him she had finally had enough and to get out by the next day – he refused and threatened her instead. Her psychic and ghostlike mother, Eleanora, had been trapped behind a supernatural Veil for a year and it seemed something was feeding off her power, killing her slowly.
Cassie fell asleep on her bed until she was awakened at midnight. Jeremy, her psychic friend, had been concerned for her and felt she was in danger. Tyler had been having a séance downstairs, and she didn’t know if he could be trying to hurt her. With no magical abilities at all to defend herself, Cassie would be at his mercy.
Jeremy was called off to an emergency battle. As he started through a veil, 3 Irichna, who fed off of souls, attacked. All around he saw the bodies of his fellow Druids and the battle raged. He joined his powers with Arch Druid Breen for a final stand against the demons. After a difficult battle, when they had defeated the enemy, Jeremy expressed concern about Cassie and her mother. Breen allowed him to reach out to Cassie this time to help protect her from the Fae who were likely targeting her and Eleanora. How would they battle whatever evil was in the house? Could Jeremy’s own power defeat the evil of the Fae? How widespread is the danger?
I love this author’s books! Once again, she has written a wonderful story that grabs the reader from the start! The suspense keeps escalating, as there are so many pieces to the mysteries surrounding the fate of Cassie and her mom. I highly recommend this book!
There are so many other great authors in this box set to choose from that you cannot possibly go wrong owning it!
Hunted Holiday by Mandy Roth - Short, spunky read about a Slayer falling in love with her friendly, neighbourhood Vampire boss!!! Dani’s friend Mimi is determined to get Dani into the holiday swing but Dani is resisting all attempts to go all festive! Christmas is not her time of year, all she gets is bad news at this time of year. Cornell, her very sexy and off limits boss has built a house across from her and he is leaking into her life! Can a non living hottie breathe life into Dani's flatline festive spirit!! Fabulous read!
Everlastingly by Michelle Pillow - What a twist in the tale!! I loved this short story. It keeps you on your toes and just when you think you've figured it out - wham you're thrown for a loop. This story is not confusing but it is involved and loops back on itself, making you work for the solution to the secrets. A perfect blend of ghost story, suspense and a smidge of romance that is timeless. How things will end for Maura and Jack?
Cleopatra Hill Christmas by Christine Pope Connor and Angela Wilcox are the new parents of twins. They got married in HIS home town so to keep the peace they are having Christmas in HER home town. Oh the politics involved in a magical union! Jerome, Arizona is home to an extended magical clan with a...patchy history with the Wilcox Clan. Will the magical mayhem keep at bay whilst Lucas Wilcox's and Margot Emory get married? Will the new parents ever get some ADULT alone time? Fabulous holiday read!!! Great catch up the magical mayhem which continues with each book in this series!
With all of these great authors, what’s not to enjoy with a special Christmas box set!!! I love all of these authors and I'm not sure how I missed most of these stories from them.
Hunted Holiday by Mandy Roth was a really quirky and adorable story. Dani is a slayer with the bah-humbugs and the hots for her boss. It is a fast paced without dragging the story out. Dani’s boss Cornell is a vampire and she does everything in her power to annoy and irk him. I love how Dani is sassy and sarcastic all the way to the end. I’m ready for more of Dani and Cornell as well as Dani’s best friend Mimi and Finn.
Everlastingly by Michelle Pillow was so sweet and beautiful. It doesn't seem that way when it starts out. But the ending will make you weepy eyed. Maura is on the run. If only she knew what she was running from and where to run to.
Rocky by Bianca D'Arc is a story of a love getting another chance. If it can survivor the odds. That and a little bit of magic, some bad guys and a set of twins. Oh and an incredible shower. Maggie shows up on Rocky's doorstep with trouble following.
Ghosts of Shifters Past by Tasha Black was a really intriguing story about a mystery surrounding the town. Bonnie is woven into the mystery and must solve it or lose herself. The story had such depth and imagery that I could visualize the little animal pieces.
As you can see from just the short sampling above, there are a lot of fabulous stories. Off to read the rest of the Alpha for the Holidays! Grab your copy today.
This set has so many amazing authors in it. Here are a couple of my favorites.
Hunted Holiday - Mandy M Roth - This was a cute fast holiday read. Dani hates the holidays, they have not been good for her for a long time. Cornell is her boss and the one that makes her blood roar. But he is totally off limits, right??? These two are fighting the inevitable and everyone but them seems to know it. Will they ever wake up and see what is right in front of them? Pretty sure my favorite line was "I'm going to stuff your stocking." hehe
Midnight Magic - Ann Gimpel - Cassie has two magical parents but it seems to have passed her by. Now she could really use it as her mom seems to be lost in another world or something. Tyler is her jerky boyfriend of sorts. Now that she has tried to break things off, he is a total creep and refuses to leave. Then there is her long time friend Jeremy, who has loved her in secret for years. There is a whole lot more going on behind the scene's and Cassie doesn't quiet see it, but she is starting to wonder what is going on. She know she has to find a way to get rid of Tyler, but doesn't want to endanger anyone else. I was drawn into this book right away and didn't want to put it down. I loved Cassie and her ability to adapt to the things changing around her.
I've only had a chance to read one of these great stories so far and will update my review as I go, but this is an amazing collection and well worth the price. I always try to buy these collections, because they are such a great value.
Midnight Magic by Ann Gimpel Cassie is the daughter of a physic named Eleanora and a British seer named Fran. Unfortunately for Cassie she didn't end up with any magic herself. She's been friends with Jeremy for years, but doesn't know he is a powerful Druid. She becomes entangled with a real heel named Tyler who is fae and has her mother ensnared in a spell that keeps her from communicating for the better part of a year. The story moves fast and is a quick read which is what I love about Ms. Gimpel's works, there is no time to get bored with the story. She gets right to it. You get the details you need, along with the backstory information that ties it all in and then the action begins. Cassie is an intelligent woman with a background in electrical engineering and is working to develop an e-Ouija board to communicate with her mother, and she is loyal to her mother. You won't be able to put this story down once you start, I highly recommend it.
i'm a fan of box sets because of the number of books they usually have and usually at a very low price. I can always find a few favorites and a few new ones as well. This was a terrific collection of stories I enjoyed all the books, of course, some more than others.Since there are so many stories, I will just mention a few of my favorites.
Seduced by Santa by Mina Carter - This is a story about spreading holiday cheer and romance. This was a fun story. I really liked these characters. This definitely put me in the holiday mood.
The Werewolf's Christmas Wish by Kristen Painter - Most everyone would like to have that special someone to spend the holdays with. This story is about finding love in the most unexpected places. This is well told story that left me wanting more.
Kissed by Temptation by Deanna Chase - This story quickly grabbed my attention and kept me glued to the pages. I was left wanting more. This author sure knows how to spin a tale.
This is a great collection and I look forward to reading more books by many of these authors.
I received a copy of this manuscript, I have voluntarily submitted my review.
There are lots of great stories in this set. I highly recommend it for any fan of paranormal romance. You get a great mix of all types of paranormals finding love and hope over the holidays.
Midnight Magic by Ann Gimpel is a great read. It has lots of action and surprises as Cassie and Jeremy work to unravel the mystery of who is destroying her mother and jeopardizing her life too. . The author always has unique characters and I recommend you check out her other books too.
Hunted Holiday by Mandy M Roth is a fun story about two people that are supposed to just work professionally together but can't quite ignore the attraction. There is quite a bit of humor too.
The Ice Queen by Jovee Winters:starts off with a very sad story but there is a chance at happiness for the women who has suffered so much pain. One man won't let her give up on love and life.
This review is for Kissed by Temptation by Deanna Chase. I will update the review as I read the others in the set. First off, I really like the light-hearted way Ms. Chase writes, and this short story was not an exception. The main character Mati was very likable, and I found the romance between her and her boyfriend Vaughn to be hot! As with any short story, it’s harder to get a feel for all of the main characters, so I was impressed at how well the author managed to do that with the exception of Janie. However, as a less-important main character, I don’t feel it was as necessary to get to know Janie. I was also impressed at how much action was packed into the story. I do wish it had been longer, only so I could have seen more from all of the characters and gotten to know the world better. All-in-all, this was a fun, action- and romance-packed, read which intrigued me so much I want to read more in the series! Highly recommend!
