While the team works to finish the restoration of Idlewood, Rachel is harassed by an angry spirit known as the Shadow Man. As she and Angus struggle to stay alive, Carrie Jo and Ashland discover the whereabouts of a missing child. Together the friends uncover a startling truth about the Fergusons and learn more about the mysterious Creel Society. A familiar face from the past leaves Carrie Jo wondering about the future.
Will they be able to step back in time to save a troubled girl? Can they rid Idlewood of one more ghost?
Dreams of Idlewood is book two of the Idlewood series, a spinoff of the Seven Sisters series.
After finishing Ghosts of Idlewood, I was puzzled. Exactly where were the bones of Trinket found? How had she remained hidden all these years? I knew she had fallen, but there was no clue where she landed. How hard had they really looked for her? No one had even accidentally come across her remains? I need to know where they were located. Nothing was provided, except a sentence that they had been laid to rest with her sister. I’m not sure we were ever told where her sister was buried. Why no burial scene? Continuing with Dreams of Idlewood, I thought I might get an explanation, but alas, I got another question. One night Rachel went to the Garconniere alone. In the chapter she never went inside, but looked into the window. Then in fear, she ran down the hill and encountered…. Who? We don’t know and we never find out. Instead, when she relates what happened to her, she states she was on the second floor and a compartment under the floor was already open. What!!?? That’s not where we left her at the end of the chapter. This kind of glaring inconsistency ruins the storyline. It’s like the author changed it halfway through and then forgot to line everything up. Who proofread this? I can only hope the next installment of this series clears up some of these issues. Plot holes should never be ignored. I love the characters and there’s actually a significantly decent ghost story here, so I am going to give it four stars. I look forward to The Whispering Saint and hopefully a good story with a more consistent plot line that can easily be followed to the epilogue.
The author loves to not introduce characters nor give the back story of those characters. The author also seems to love forgetting statements made earlier in the story and change that statement later! The author is terrible about not bothering to give the conclusion of a story. I keep hoping the author will explain why trinket’s body was not found if she simply fell out the roof. And why wasn’t the reader given the story of how Trinket’s body was found and buried?? I still feel like I am reading something written by a young child who has not been taught how to write even a basic story
Dreams of Idlewild is book 2 of the series by ML Bullock.
Michael Idlewild was seventeen when he was put in charge of Idlewild in 1873. His older brother was drunk all the time now and useless as far as the farm went. Percy had been a drunk since hid twin had mysteriously died and they hadn’t found out who did it. Percy was disinherited and his name changed to Sinclair. He was given a one time payment , declared as abandoning his wife and children, and was cursed forever.
Interesting that there was no involvement with the house's owners. That will come down the line in another book. Michael is again portrayed as an evil person, alive and dead. This book is about Percy, his brother Michael and their wife Aubrey. Aubrey was forced into a marriage with Michael when they convinced her Perch was dead and he was not.
Great book but now I have 2 more to go. I love books in sets for a continued storyline. I think this series is very good and goes between the past and present very easily. I think you would love it if you like haunted books. I sure do.
This book continues with the same characters from the Seven Sisters saga . They are expanding their house remodeling business and continue running into ghosts! I'm looking forward to reading more of her books!
Once again the story telling is enthralling, keeping you completely engrossed from beginning to the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Would recommend
Wow! What a tangled mess these families had to live through. These stories are all gripping mysteries and once the answers are found the freedom to move beyond the past is finally found.
Loved it as I've loved all the books in this & the Seven Sisters series! Book left me at a cliff hanger though... thank goodness I have the next one to read!
I gave two stars, though inconsistent at times, the story is okay. The writing is kind of terrible, but I'm still going you read through the series, as each book is a quick read.
I sincerely enjoy these books.. Both these and Seven Sisters were great stories with exceptional writing.. However, the one major flaw that I noted kept me from giving a 5 star rating. That flaw being the inconsistencies within the story lines in both series.. One, possibly two may have been easily overlooked but there were several.. Sometimes it seemed as if the author had no recollection of what had transpired previously.. I won't give examples and give spoilers in the process but it WAS distracting at times.
Well secrets revealed and more left behind. I do feel as if this one was a bit rushed. Rachel's whole story of going into the tower was not truly fitting with what, we the readers, experienced through her eyes.
I've definitely found my new motto. EMBRACE THE WEIRDNESS AND BE YOURSELF, words to live by.☺
After having read the 'Sisters' series and the first 'Idlewood' book, this one was a bit of a let-down. It was short and did not contain much of a story.
Another great book!!!! The books in this series are shorter than Seven Sisters. I'd love the next to be a novel. It had some time since reading the first story of this series and she did an excellent job refreshing my memory. Great storyline with unexpected turns and events. M.L. Bullocks is my favorite ghost story writer because it's believable from the first words!!!!!
Another great book!!!!! The books in this series are shorter than expected. I'd love the next to be a novel. It had been some time since reading the first story. The author did an excellent job refreshing my memory throughput this story. Great storyline with twists and turns. I couldn't put it down!!! Your gift is much appreciated. I'm a fan for life!!!
I read this out of the order of the first Idlewood book. So I was a little confused but still a great ghost story and I will also be buying the rest of this series as well.
The 2nd book in t he Idlewood Series is a fun read. The story of the Idlewood mansion haunts moves along with an intriguing mystery. The men in the family are involved in some kind of strange worship of a demon which haunts the family. The mystery involving the demon is revealed, but the family curse is not resolved in this book. Gotta keep reading to find out how the curse is resolved.
