War & Peace #5

This is Me, Baby

Rate this book
The game was over and they stole the victory away from ME.
Cheating. Lies. Corruption. Death.
This pawn never stood a chance.
But then he came for ME.
He plucked ME from my nightmare and kept me safe.

My heart was in tatters and my soul was lost.
Until the beast in ME woke up.
She was hungry and furious and didn’t play by the rules of their game.
We were a vicious team. And we changed the game altogether. I took what was theirs because they took what was mine.
ME against them.

That is…until I had someone else with ME.
Someone who vowed to fight alongside ME until the very end.
I don’t want the love he has for ME.
But the beast in ME still craves to take everything she deserves.
He should run far away from ME.
Instead, he runs straight for ME.

This is ME, baby and I am going to ruin them all.

This is Me, Baby was one of my most anticipated reads for this year, and it did not disappoint! There was a bit of everything we have come to expect from this series: great villains, broken hero, strong heroine, violence, a kaleidoscope of emotions, and hot sex! If you are a dark romance fan and you haven’t read this series yet, don’t wait a moment longer! Go buy This is War, Baby, and you can thank me later. Already love the series, but haven’t one-clicked this one yet? Do it! You won’t regret it!

"The tiger stripes are fitting. Anyone that fucks with you will get the claws."

The continuation of Brie’s story is told mostly in dual point of view by Brie and Ren. We do get random chapters from other characters which I enjoyed. You don’t have to worry about a cliffhanger. This book has a solid ending, but also sets up for the story in the next book which already has me dying to read it!

"Love has fucking destroyed my daughter."

Devastated by the horrific events that occurred at end of the previous book, Brie is a shell of her former self. Gabe has rescued his daughter and Luciana, but now he doesn’t know what to do to help her. That is where Ren comes in. He dedicates all of his time to comforting her, and trying to help her heal. Ren has always been there for her in ways no one else has, and if anyone can bring her back to life, it’s him.

"You're going to cry it out. And then you're going to sharpen those claws. The world is about to hear you roar, baby."

Meanwhile, Vee is still out there somewhere, and no one knows where she is. As time goes on without a word from her, everyone begins to fear the worst. The drug business is in a state of chaos. Brie makes some decisions that lands her in hot water with Duvan’s family, and she finds herself making deals with Camilo’s rival, Diego, to protect her and her family from the fall out. Throughout the story, everyone is on edge worrying if and when the Rojas’ family is going to come for Brie, and so are you!

"I'm not a villain, cariño," he says in a firm tone as he releases my hands. He then gives me a playful slap on the ass before pulling away. "I'm a business man."

Will Vee be found? Should Brie really have put her trust in a man like Diego? Will she ever be able to move on from Duvan, and enjoy a life with Ren and her family? Will all of them even survive long enough for that to happen?

"And who the fuck are you?"Camilo demands as he shoves Gabe to the floor. Gabe scrambles back up to his feet and wipes blood off his chin. Camilo aims a gun at his face. "I asked who the fuck you are."
Gabe growls. "Your worst motherfuckin' nightmare."

I am already salivating at the thought of the next book! When it comes to this series, I just can’t get enough! We all I know that I love K. Webster with a passion, and this series helped begin my obsession. I don’t care how many books she writes for it, I will be reading every last one! It’s just that good. Her mind has to be a terrifying and wondrous place for her to come up with all of the dark deliciousness that she does, and all I know is, I don’t want to miss out on any of it!

It’s hard to say what I enjoyed most about this book. It was well paced, exciting, steamy, engaging, and just all around amazing! If I absolutely had to pick though I would say it was seeing all of our beloved characters from previous installments interacting as the fucked up family that they are. Not every family includes your mother’s murderer or your boyfriend’s mother’s captor (also known to you as Daddy). It’s all a lot to process for Brie, as it would be for anyone, but I enjoyed every moment of it!

"Yeah. Gabe is the villain in her eyes. He's the villain in mine too. But he's also your dad and the father of my adorable neice. It's complicated, but I think we're doing better than most families with this much baggage."

The cast of characters has grown exponentially as the series has gone on, and I enjoy each and every one. I adore the fact that multiple generations are involved now. Getting to follow these characters this long the way that we have is one of my favorite aspects of this series, and I am sure that will continue to be the case. I can’t imagine ever burning out them. The story and the characters just continue to get more complex and interesting as time goes on.

"Another threat by the feisty little fox. It's tigress to you, asshole."

The main characters in this book, Brie and Ren, have been through a lot in their relationship. Always friends and sometimes lovers, these two have a bond that is unbreakable. Brie is shattered and torn apart, but still has more fight left in her then she gives herself credit for. What she has gone through is enough to knock even the toughest people on their ass for a while. As much as my heart broke for her, I was also really happy to see her back with Ren. Ren has changed so much since we first met him. He isn’t the same sweet kid we once knew, but he is still loving and selfless. The fact that he is also now angry, tattooed, and sporting a lot more muscle sure doesn’t hurt. He has gone from boy to man, and he protects and loves Brie with everything that he has. When the two of them get together, sparks fly and so do their clothes. If you were hoping for some steam in this book, ladies and gentleman, you got it!

"It wasn't lovemaking like before. It was carnal, animalistic, unapologetic FUCKING."

Overall, This is Me, Baby and the entire War & Peace series is exciting, violent, suspenseful, interesting, emotional, and twisted. The romance is always hot, heartbreaking, and beautiful or obsessive, passionate, and deranged. The characters are complex, flawed, endearing, and/or batshit crazy! The writing is perfection, and I have yet to take more than two sittings to finish them. Usually, I can’t even wait that long! If you like dark romance or are a fan of the beautiful, dark genius herself, K. Webster, I recommend this one to you!

”What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. They may try to tear our hearts apart…”

“But they don’t understand, our hearts are made of steel. Women like us are unbreakable. Even when we’re shattered into a thousand bits. We just find a way to gather up what’s left, walk into the fire otherwise known as life, and weld our most precious piece back together again.”

The fifth installment of the ”War & Peace” series is the continuation of Gabe’s daughter, Brie’s story. The previous book ends with Brie’s world being turned upside down when a psychopath that had a demented fixation on her, ends up murdering her beloved husband Duvan right before her eyes. Gabe comes to her rescue and now they are on the run in Columbia. Brie is also pregnant and is looking to liquidate her husband’s assets so that she can return back to California and try to lead some semblance of a normal life for the sake of her unborn child. Unfortunately, she seems to have numerous unsavory characters who are after her and she is in constant danger.

Brie is still reeling from the loss of Duvan but when Ren McPherson, comes back into her life, he provides her the solace that she so desperately needs from her nightmares. Their friendship turns physical almost instantaneously and while at first, she seems to be using Ren to get over the emptiness she feels, soon enough old feelings of love are resurfacing. But the young lovers’ lives are not completely blissful as there is always the constant threat against Brie’s life. Duvan’s father, a Columbian drug-lord named Diego, and Ren’s psychotic sister Hannah, all mean to put an end to Brie.

There is a ton of violence throughout this story and it’s what we come to expect from this series. Also, the sexy times are in overabundance and definitely out of this world hot. But Brie constantly being in danger was almost tiring and a bit comical. She had Gabe and Ren as her protectors but those two no matter how strong and psychotic they were seemed to be the absolute WORST bodyguards! They never could keep her safe! At some point, I was over the damsel in distress theme that kept playing on repeat throughout this book. While the sexy times were incredible, I also felt like it was a bit of overkill.

 photo Teaser 6_zpstoit7bju.jpg

While this was my least favorite of the five books I did enjoy the tender moments shared between Brie and Gabe. Gabe will always be my favorite and I love that he is such a multi-layered and complex character. Even Hannah showed a bit of her soft side in this one.

'This is Me, Baby' is the fifth book in K. Webster's 'War and Peace' series. It picks up where the fourth book left off. Brie and her father, Gabe, are trying to settle Brie's affairs after the murder of her husband, Duvan. To do so, they must outrun the cartels that are after Brie. Camilo wants vengeance for the son that was killed and wants to reclaim what he thinks belongs to him. Diego wants to move in on the territory that had been held by Duvan's family cartel and take over the region. It is a dangerous position for Brie to be in.

As Brie goes through the motions, she slips into a deep depression. When Ren shows up to help Gabe and Brie, she quickly falls back into their comfortable relationship. At first, it is just a way to cope with the loss. Eventually, it becomes more.

Moving back to California, Brie is still in danger. The cartels don't recognize borders. She must decide what to do for her safety and the safety of Duvan's unborn child. She knows that this means making a deal with one of the cartels.

If you've read the first four books in this series, then you have an idea of how dark and twisted Ms. Webster can be. Expect nothing less. This book is disturbing, violent and will make you physically uncomfortable at times.

While usually, that would be a formula for success for me, I just wasn't feeling it this time around. In part, this may be because I've got a lot going on that is keeping me distracted as of recently. However, a large part of it is that this story just keeps getting more bizarre. Believability has long since left the scene. The premise of this "dysfunctional happy family" where victims make peace with the villains and then go on to be friendly companions is just too far-fetched for me.

The longer this series goes on, the more unrealistic it becomes. I found my self losing interest a lot while reading this book. I mentally check out at times. I skimmed a lot. I just wasn't invested.

Then, right at the end, there was a sneak peek at what the next book might focus on....and I was kind of sucked back in. I have to admit that I am very curious about where Vee's story will lead. Part of me says, "hang it up now". Knowing myself, curiosity will probably get the best of me though.

Overall, this book was kind of "meh" for me. However, I have enjoyed this series a great deal up to this point and I'm curious about the next one. If you're a fan of the series, then it's worth giving a shot.

I love books by K. Webster. Really and truly, she is an automatic one-click author for me when I'm looking for a dark, twisted, mindfck of a read. That being said, this installment felt a little anti-climactic for me. Hey, people don't shoot me because as I said, I'm a super-fan. It just wasn't as twisted as I had expected. My brain didn't explode. I actually had very few "WTF" moments. Go figure. However, I particularly enjoyed everything to do with Daddy Diego. My fascination with him is so fcked up because he was nowhere near a good guy, but he definitely demands attention. I wonder what his role will be in the next book.

With Part One, I was still left devastated. What I had hoped was some sort of crazy dream sequence at the end of This Isn't You, Baby was unfortunately all too real. My heart was broken. You know you're fcked up when your heart hurts so bad over the loss of a fictional drug lord. Tee hee, call me nutso! Anyhoo, Brie has been trying to claw herself out of her despair and I loved how Gabe was there to offer his unconditional support. See, he does have a soul, at least for those he cares about. Unfortunately, as sympathetic as I was to Brie, I still didn't like her all that much. However, I can respect that she was perfect in Ren's eyes. For Ren I will continue to accept and respect her. Kinda.

I fell more in love with Ren in Part Two. It was impossible not to because he was that incredible. He was incredibly sexy, incredibly understanding and compassionate, incredibly protective, and incredibly loving. His inner thoughts drove me bananas because they were mostly about the "wonderful" virtues of Brie, which I really couldn't see. Then again, I'm blind when it comes to anything good about this girl ;) Half the time I just wanted to knock her out. As much as I adored the heck out of Duvan, he in no way compared to Ren. And yet the comparison was forever being made! Yes, Duvan loved her but the life he was offering her was in no way a good one. Not yet anyway. Besides, she knew and loved Ren for so much longer. And he was there first. WTH???!!! Annnnddd... I was really getting tired of her being referred to as "tigress". She ain't that fierce, bruh.

Part Three was as expected: a thrilling lead-in to what I expect will be much more mindfckery in the next book. I'm glad that everyone seems to be on the same page but I'm terrified of the unknown. WTH are Oscar and Esteban gonna do??? I can't hardly wait to find out!!

Buddy read with the always wonderful, Cassandra!

Did we really need to start this way by driving the knife in deeper and twisting?!

I mean damn, I cried more at the beginning of this then the end of the last one. 🥺

Can you imagine fearing your own child, especially a father fearing his daughter? I’m sure it’s somewhat common but still.

Omg to read about War’s deterioration into OCD madness is insane and poignant. Counting the hairs was especially horrifying for some reason.

Why tf do I feel sorry for Hannah? Maybe because she’s a psychopath and doesn’t understand right from wrong. So, she just doesn’t get why her brother hates her. It’s like kicking a puppy even though the puppy is blood thirsty.

We’ll let that tigress reign supreme! Way to rise from the ashes Brie and come out stronger then before.

Well Gabe, as the saying goes you can’t have your cake and eat it too. You made your crazy ass bed now lie on it … no doubt strapped inside a strait jacket. 🤣

Even though I can’t imagine loving Ren with Brie the way I loved her with Duvan, I appreciate that he did respect and understand the love they had shared.

Right now Brie’s using Ren as an escape, she related it to the heroin but more fulfilling. I can’t help but think of Ren as a selfish doormat for giving in so easily. Plus it’s way too soon, way to desecrate Duvan’s memory.

How fitting for Hannah to dress up as Harley Quinn, the crazy b.

“It’s his weapon that scares the shit out me. Who twists barbed wire around a wooden baseball bat?” Negan and Lucille duh! It’s also fitting that Gabe would dress as one of the biggest mofo’s from The Walking Dead.

As a business woman I like Brie a lot, the rest of the time her personality leaves much to be desired. I’d be down is she was a savage dirty dealing drug queen.

Oh the betrayal … but what did you expect?

In the end I was happy for them.

That epilogue was quite the doozy, I can’t wait for the next one.

Oh holy hell!!! Just when I think things can’t get even more screwed up; sh*t goes sideways again!!!! Gah! I’m scared to read the next book!! One thing I’ve learned while reading this series is that nothing goes easy for any of these characters! Every single one of them has been tortured or raped in some form or fashion! It is by far an easy read, and yet I can’t stop!

I loved this fifth book because of Ren! God that guy is a hero that deserves all the good life has to give! His dedication to Brie is nothing short of amazing! I sometimes felt he deserved way better than what she could give him...but it is what it is!!

Anyway, I have got to continue on to book six! I can tell you that when I finish this series, I’m going to have a huge book hangover! And I’ll be ready for some light reading! Lol!

So I'm writing this review on my phone because my son fell asleep on me so I'm going to do my best.

I loved this series. I loved the first few books but I can see the story is changing into something else and that's okay. But I'm going to say I'm finished with the series.

I really liked the way the series opened with crazy characters and storyline but the last book and this book wasn't for me. I don't really care for the drug cartel storyline which is crazy because usually I like these kinds of plots. But I think it's because the book changed from the first book that I kind of have certain expectations now.

I felt like the last book was really crazy and out there. There were some parts that were hard for me to stomach but that's kind of what the series is all about right? I found this one tamer and refreshing. I felt like the heroine could finally breathe and who doesn't like a pregnant single mama book?

I also found the heroine really difficult. The way she pushed Ren away so many times just drove me bat crazy. I wanted her to pick a team. In my opinion she continually made poor decisions and I couldn't understand her.

Overall a lot goes on in this book and I didn't care for the drug politics. I appreciate this series and I'm glad I got to read the five books and went on this crazy fucked up journey. But it's time for me to get off the crazy train and call it a day.

Back to my normal schedule.

So... This one.

description

It immediately picked up from the cliffhanger in the last book (which if I haven't mention it yet, was a sucky cliffy). I'm sure something actually happened in this one, but all that I could remember from this book was how much the heroine wept and cried and had sex. I thought she would come out stronger from the tragedy and become this badass cartel boss.

Nope. She cried. A lot. Every single chapter. She cried. Understandably. But still, it wasn't fun.

And I don't like that. Hell, the superstar of this book was Hannah. Man, the scene she was in, I was so enthralled and I kinda wish we got her and Gabe book again. That's how bored and miserable I was from reading this wishy washy couple.

However, it does show some contrast in compared to the other book in the series. And it was a unique story to be told. Just not in a way I would like it.

Continuing my BR with the awesome Debbie for this series.
I like this one though I did not like Brie much through either book. After the devastation if the previous book, this one was always going to be a hard sell but I did.

I loved Ren in this book. Even though I thought not much of him initially. He was so steadfast, so loyal and my goodness where did he learn to f*ck like that?

Holy shit...Webster did it again! I literally cannot stress to you enough how much I am OBSESSED with this series.

My kindle is FILLED with highlights of amazing quotes...each of them better than the other...ranging from romantic to revenge-filled!

Here are a few of my Favs:
"The tears constantly roll down my cheeks. But it isn't sadness that is threatening to eat me alive. It's fury and hate and anger. I've welcomed them wholeheartedly. Those fiery emotions don't hurt. They crave to do the hurting. I want to make someone pay for all of the wrongs that were done to me.

"Another threat by a feisty little fox."
"It's tigress to you, asshole."

"Ren is different, just like me. He's seen unspeakable horrors. I've lived them. He's teetered an impossible line with his sister. She stole from him. He's lost his love. I've lost my love. Our hearts have been slayed and left for dead. The innocence we once knew has been obliterated. There's no collecting those pieces and putting them back together again."

"If I could cut open my own chest and give her my beating heart, I would. If only somehow that would fill up her empty one".

I cannot WAIT for the next book !!!!!!

Trigger Warning: This dark romance novel contains scenes such as violence, abuse, sex and profanity. It might put you out of your comfort zone and this isn't for everyone. Read at your own discretion.

After the tragic ending on the previous book, a new war begins and Brie's life is in grave danger. It pained to witness her husband's death who was murdered by her stepfather but luckily, she's rescued by her biological father, Gabe from being killed. Depression and grief took over. She doesn't know where to start a new life but Ren McPherson is there by her side to help her and vows to keep her safe especially she's pregnant. Now that she holds every single of Duvan's property, she made a deal with the Rojas family's nemesis, Diego Gomez. He wants all information in exchange for the safety of her love ones. However, this puts a bounty on her head because Esteban and Camilio are out there to hunt her.

It's kind of awkward to see Gabe and Ren's family get together. There's so much tension between them due to what happened in the past but they set that aside for a while and united to keep Brie safe. I shouldn't be fascinated by Gabe but I REALLY AM. He loves his daughter unconditionally and he'll do whatever it takes to protect Brie. He's even willing to KILL anyone who hurts her. I got chills when Hannah and Brie met. [Esteban... you better run. The psychopaths are going to chase you!]. The story keeps on expanding and each book have mindfuck moments. It's a crazy bumpy ride and I really enjoyed it.

I'm impressed with Ren McPherson's character development. Unlike in the last book, I find him weak. He becomes tougher in this book. He's selfless, loving, thoughtful and resilient. My only complain is Brie being too reckless. Woman, you are pregnant. For once value your self preservation.

P.S.

I choke from laughing when Toto has Cucumber stuffed toy. DAMN YOU GABE AND HANNAH.

"One day, I will find exactly what she needs and I will give it to her. My heart. My soul. My devotion."

I really enjoy the War & Peace series and was very much looking forward to the continuation of Brie's story in this book. She didn't have an easy life, which was highlighted in the previous book. She still isn't safe and there is danger around every corner. I loved that all the previous characters had a chapter or two told from their POV, because they are still very relevant to the story. I loved seeing that Hannah was still her crazy self. That girl is not easy to manage. Ren is one of the characters that changed a lot and I loved seeing him grow into a man. He was very protective and never forced Brie into anything. He was very patient and was very understanding. He had his alpha male moments, which I also enjoyed. He wasn't my favorite in the previous book but he redeemed himself in this book.

"He's lost his love. I've lost my love. Our hearts have been slayed and left for dead."

I had to rate this book 3.5 stars because there were a couple of things I didn't like. First of all in my opinion Brie's change in personality didn't come across as organic. It was a bit forced, and it bothered me a bit. For example one moment Brie acts like a tigress and the next she is this scared kitty cat. She comes in contact with the most violent criminals, and she thinks she can handle them on her own. I know this story is fiction, but I do like the characters to stay true to themselves. I did like the plot but didn't think it was executed well.

Cannot be read as a standalone.

I liked it, but I didn't love it. It's probably my least favorite in the series.

Brie constantly switches back and forth from a strong 'tigress' to a damsel in distress. It was a little annoying.

And sweet Ren has completely changed into some hardened alpha male that will do anything for Brie. He drops most of his college courses to be there for Brie. For me, Ren is nothing special. Just a rich kid mooching off his parents.

I had to force myself to like the characters. The parts I loved involved Baylee, War, and Gabe.

I wonder how long this series is going to be. The ending already sets up another book, which sounds interesting. I love K. Webster's stories and I think she's a fabulous writer. But I'm having a hard time loving this series after Baylee and War. Maybe I just love them too much.

This book was EVERYfuckingTHING.

Everyone was in it. Everyone was amazing.

It's about a fucked up family, that IS a family none the less. It's about broken people being broken together. It's love after a tragic love story.

Ugh the sex was so god damn hot. Like it's probably my favorite out of all of K Webster's books. It was hot and emotional, and jayzuss, I want more of it. I am OBSESSED with this story.

Brie, this woman. God I love her.
Gabe, god damn why am I in love with you???
War, UGH.... so perfect.
REN... FUCK YOU'RE SO ANGRY AND ITS SO SEXY.
Calder, look at you being all cute.
Bay, QUEEN.
Hannah, so screwed in the head, but your character is so entertaining haha.
Everyone else, TOO MANY FEELINGS.

5 crazy , Drunk stars ,cuz I needed a bottle of wine to steady my pulse .
Wow ! I'm stunned . Like a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire struck me !
Like Negan...nvm ! The story leaves you crying non stop and shocked out of your senses.
Gabriella Rojas -The Tigress is alone and helpless . We all know what Evil Kristi did to the Tiger *glares at her * .
So poor Tigress is with her Daddy the Cucumber Crazed Gabe . He vows to protect his baby girl, while taking care of Psycho Harley Quinn Doppelganger-Hannah AND trying to look for Esteban and Oscar...
I think I’m going to develop a fucking ulcer from all this stress.
Well ...Chickens coming home to Roost Asshole !!!
The cycle started when Hannah killed Brie'S Mom and Gabe ran away with her, so ....Bend over for the Frozen Cucumbers ,Gabe *glares at him *
Here in this story we see a great transformation and character development of Ren Mcpherson. He's all grown up, mature and still loves Brie with all his heart . He magnanimously accepts her in her in current broken state too
Duvan was always the better man when it came to the two of us in Brie’s eyes, but I never once wished him dead. Because his death meant the death of her heart. And her heart has always been my focus. This poor woman is broken and slayed. She’s bleeding uncontrollably from a wound in her heart.
“He made you happy. How could I hate him for that?”

What a fantastic Human being he is . Bravo Kristi * smiles at her *
There are a whole lot of characters trying to stabilize the broken pulse of Brie's Life. War , Baylee, Gabe, psycho Hannah , Oscar, And Daddy Diego * flutters eyelashes at him * .
I'm so infected by Kristi's brand of Krazy. Diego turns me on !! * lusts at him *
Brie is very strong, very resilient and very protective
“You’ve always been strong and resilient. Like a dandelion in a hurricane. The wind rips away parts of you, but you’re still left standing after the storm. Sure, you’re weathered and changed, but you’re still there.”
She laughs.
“This is me, baby. A hairless dandelion.”

Well the Tigress has definitely earned her stripes.
The story is trademark Kristi. Very twisted, messed up, violent but there's a whole tub full of tears too. My heart broke in several pieces , I cried a lot , I nearly stopped breathing at a couple of scenes. But now that I'm a veteran of Kristi's Kraziness, I opened a big bottle of wine along with * sends the bill to her *
Her books are a constant source of Joy, Angst, Mindfuckery , Heart attacks and Alcoholism
PSA-I love Kristi but not right now . I'm hungover !

This is Me, Baby is book five in the War & Peace series. It is my favorite addition to this dark romance series.

"This is life, baby. And you're going to conquer it."

Being one who has obsessively read every book in this series, I can state, for a fact, that readers are going to be surprised and thrilled with this story. The overall character connections made me stop with gaping mouth wide-open. How can an author create an atmosphere in which people should have continual hate for one another, but instead they reach for something greater? How? Because this author is a mastermind at making you love the unloveable and cheer for redemption of those for whom atonement seems unlikely. I loved seeing the wildly protective side of Gabe. In the past he unhinged me, scared me, and made me cringe. But in this installment, I witnessed a father's love for his child, and I was lured into his crazy world. Interestingly, his world paralleled another with this theme, which was almost like fate cackling aloud at the irony.

"One day, I will find exactly what she needs and I will give it to her. My heart. My soul. My devotion."

As angry as I was that Brie and Ren were ripped from one another in This Isn’t You, Baby, I had a completely opposite feeling in this book. These two, when brought back together, were lightning and thunder. Ominous, strong, out for revenge, and knowing that, embracing each other, and coming together created a force that nature itself could not stand against. As hard an edge as Ren had developed since losing a Brie, he was gentle and caring with her. I couldn't get enough of his single-minded sweet spot that was solely focused on her. Brie had weak moments, her story being one filled with complications, hurt, and loss. But, she was a pillar of vitality and determination. Holding on to the final strings of her life and weaving them back together.

"When you feel like falling, I will catch you."

This is Me, Baby was a twisted, shocking, and thrilling edition to the War & Peace series. I’m so excited that there is more to come.

K Webster knows how to play with my emotions

I don't even know where to begin with this review, hell I don't even know where to end with this review.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but every time I read one of K Webster's books I feel as if she has messed with my head, like she just jumped right in, scrambled up my brain and then ran away while evil laughing.

Now that I've got that out of the way lets get started, shell we?

Brie might have though she found happiness, she may have even thought her and Ren will never be more than friends ever again, but her happiness was ripped away from her and the only person that could put her back together again was Ren.

Ren never stopped loving Brie, even when she married a drug lord and moved to a different country. He knew he would be there for her no matter what.

I feel like I say this a lot with one of K. Webster's books but I don't want to give too much away because it will ruin it. There were parts of the book I was still gutted over and had a hard time moving past. Even when I got to the end of the book I thought to myself, "Hm, that really happened?" There was a new character that was introduced and I'm sure I'm suppose to hate him, but of course I didn't and I'm hoping we will see him in a future book. Yes, that's right I said future book because you know damn well she's not finished with this series and I am so okay with that.

"I'm so lost. I'm drifting. No home. No future. No anything. I am sinking, Ren, and it feels like I'll never find the bottom."
"I've got you. You may feel lost or alone, but you're not. I'm right behind you. When you feel like falling, I will catch you."

Look, it's no secret that I was NOT a fan of this other dude that tried to steal Brie's heart from my boyfriend Ren. Ren has always, and will always, be the one to be Brie's true soulmate. From the very beginning when she saw from her tower window, Ren has been her best friend, her lover, her solace. Although there were times where I wanted to throttle Brie and her decisions, at the end of the day, Ren loved her very much and only wanted the best for her and her babies. He not only grew physically, but emotionally and spiritually with Brie and their chaotic surroundings. Their love truly knows no bounds.

This can't be my review, but I almost posted it.

I'd like to thank, Author K Webster, for shredding my heart, making it whole, obliterating my soul and making it come full circle. For making my skin peel and making it burn. My face for making that face. My smile, because.

You do it right. All the things right.

This can't be my review, but I almost posted it.

*****BETA READ*****

"I'm so lost," she murmurs against my chest. "I'm drifting. No home. No future. No anything. I don't even know who I am anymore."

"Ren isn't one I can simply block out. He loves too hard. With such loyalty. It never waivers. A love that one can lean upon during life's biggest storm and not get blown away. Here in the dark, I don't have to hide from Ren and pretend. It's now that I actually feel alive. It's everyone else I'm hiding from...

This is Me, Baby picks up right where the last book left off and true to K. Webster fashion, this book is going to take you on one epic and wild ride. As with all the other books in this series, this story is intense, thrilling, sexy and filled with lots of delicious twists and turns. You will be kept on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what will happen next and how the story will play out......

So I have always had a thing for sweet Ren, but this new down right dirty filthy Ren I freaken love him! Just his way he talks now demands power and full attention it's so damn hot I can't get enough of him. I've always secretly wanted Brie and Ren to get back together. The connection these two share is something of Romeo and Juliette. They belong together, they deserve happy ever after like Ren's parents Baylee and sexy war lol. Esteban truly makes me sick I can't believe how many woman he has raped and stolen there virginity it's disgusting and deserves to pay with his life! I'm also loving Calder he seems like Ren but I have feeling he just might be worse! My heart bleeds for Luciana, I hope Calder sees what's she worth. I don't even know what to think of Oscar anymore and vee. I think vee is just confused and hurt. Can't wait for next book!

I have been waiting like forever for this book after the previous book totally ruined me beyond repair. I was so excited when I saw it appear on my kindle that I dropped everything to read it because I wanted most of my questions answered. But then I did not expect to have more questions lol. This is Me, Baby was just another book in the series that totally had me speechless and trying to figure out my life after this book. It was suspenseful, dark, twisted and just downright deadly and dangerous. Everything about this book is just mind blowing. Actually everything about this series is just out of this world amazing. Wow.

I am not going to talk about the book. You need to be able to go in blind. But you need to read the previous books in the series to be able to read This is Me, Baby. This is Me, Baby totally exceeded my expectations. I was in shock while reading this book. There are not enough words that I can express this phenomenal book. This is Me, Baby was about love after tragedy. Are you willing to let love in even though parts of you are broken? Can you really move on when you have been dealt with heart break and loss? This is Me, Baby embodied darkness, pain and love in its beautiful and nail biting way. I was left with some chills that crept inside my body. I just loved this book. Emotional. Tense. Heart stopping drama. Insane. Creepy. Tantalizing Action. I was on the edge with this book. I could not keep my eyes my away from this book. I was simply enchanted through out. K. Webster certainly wrote another masterpiece. Her writing is always so profound and majestic. I love every moment of it. That is why he is one of my favourite authors.

The characters as always make this book so interesting. There are just so dynamic and add so much into the book that I never get tired of them. The characters are always twisted, dark, broken, messed up and just so strong in character that sometimes they manage to warp my mind even more. They each tell their story so perfect that I am always pulled in and lose myself in their thoughts. You have to meet them all.

This is Me, Baby totally surprised and shocked me like no other. Then K. Webster decided to stick the knife in deeper and gives us another shocker. I was just left mindless. lol. I seriously cannot wait for more.

He's going to burn me alive from the inside out...

K Webster has absolutely blown me away with the fifth book in her War & Peace series!! (This series MUST be read in its entirety before reading this book.) Not only was this an epically amazing dark campy suspenseful story, it was also a story about healing, family, and love.

This story is about Brie after the events of book four. What in the world is she going to do now? K Webster answers that and so much more. Nothing in this book is perfect, nor does it ever really go according to plan, but that's the beautiful part about K Webster writing. Expect the unexpected if you'd like, but I guarantee you still won't know what's coming.

We get visits from familiar characters that we love, some have changed, some have stayed just as flipping insane. We also get a couple new characters as well.

There are some dark moments. There are some sad moments. There are even some funny movements. That's what I love about this series. I know what I'm reading is probably going to break my heart, but sometimes it mends it as well.

Such a fantastic read, with amazing writing and flawless story telling as per usual! If you have read this series, ONE click this baby RIGHT now. If you haven't, go click book one and enjoy the ride!

CRAZY

This book reminded me as to why I love dark romance as much as I do. K WEBSTER- You are undoubtedly my all time fav author! WHAT A STORY! Hats off and kudos to you. YOU NAILED THIS BOOK.
I loved book 1 and 2 of the series and they had me glued to the pages. Book 3 I was a little disappointed since I hadn't expected Hannah to turn out that way. Book 4 started with a character who was newly introduced- Brie, so I had my doubts whether I would completely invest in her story and surprisingly I did. The third book was different and was about stuff I hadn't read before and it was very convincing so yeah, I really liked it but THIS book, the fifth in the series that continues the story of Brie is a true KILLER. Mind-blowing, Spectacular, twisted and I just can't enough of it. This is one of the best series ever with Characters I love but I actually question my own sanity for loving them when I am supposed to be hating them. I mean, I am rooting for GABE!! 'The kidnapper, abuser, rapist, murderer' whom I wanted to kill with my bare hands in the first two books and now?! Towards the end, I was biting my nails, pleading that Gabe should survive and not die?! Seriously something is off with me or K Webster has woven such a dark twisted tale that she totally pulls us into her crazy characters and makes us root and love them because she comes up with even more deathly and scary characters as the story progresses. Women, I am so in awe of you for coming with such a CRAZY story.
What I love the lost about this particular book was the character dynamics and the fucked up family?! Gabe and War being pals and working together?! Who would have fucking guessed that?! Gabe is his wife's abductor and rapist but also his supposed son-in-law and the father of his grandkids?! Cherry on the top? War's son Ren is in love with Brie, who is Gabe's daughter with his first wife who was murdered by his daughter-Hannah?! Holy Hell
Now this is what you call as a CLUSTERFUCK. And with a setup like this who would not be invested in reading such an intriguing story?! IF not for work I would have probably finished In a single setting.
Reason 2 as to why this book is so amazing? REN! Ren! Ren! Really!! What a man!! Even after all shit Brie had to endure, she is truly lucky to have always had REN. He is perfection really and his transition into man was sharp after what he had to see but his final form was SOOOO Damn HOT!! This guy is perfection in my eyes. Long live REN!! I will always be rooting for him.
Coming to the third reason- how can I forget daddy DIEGO :p initial reviews of this book spoke a lot about him and it definitely quirked my curiosity. After having read this book, now I know. HE IS SOMETHING ELSE. Charismatic, smart, charming, Frank. He is everything and still a badass and I won't shy away form admitting that I am falling for him. I really want to learn more about him. There has to more to his story and knowing K Webster, I am certain his book is just round the corner.
I am happy, like really happy?! Why? Because there is a next book and though I am not sure whether it will have Diego, it's going to be one hell of a love triangle and I really can't wait for it.
On a ending note, though I love all these characters a lot, I really want to see more of War and Baylee. Though it's no longer just their story and has branched a lot from them, I really want at least the last book to center around them again. I really liked Baylee as a heroine. She is so strong and sassy and though even Brie is described as a tigress, I still like Baylee more and Hannah is a complete psycho so she is out of the league.
THIS SERIES is just.... No words. I love it.
