I received this book free from Goodreads Giveaways. I liked the idea of this book because I have used mindfulness therapy techniques in the past and found them very helpful. I like that the book centered around the idea of meditation as a mindfulness building technique. The practice guides and logs were helpful. I rated this book a '3 star' or 'liked it' because I liked it but I didn't exceed my expectations, being that I am familiar with mindfulness. That being said, I think this would be a great guide to someone that is new to mindfulness techniques and needs help becoming familiar with them and executing them. I would recommend this book to beginners in mindfulness techniques or beginners in using meditation as a mindfulness technique.
Wonderful meditation workbook. A lot of workbooks can be terrible, but this one is great, really informative. I did most of these exercises while in a mental health program, and it really complemented everything I was learning. Great book.
Such a helpful program. I so recommend it to anyone who often feels overwhelmed by stress or their own emotions. It helps slow you down and gives you a time and space to check in with yourself

This book contains a lot of scary, suspicious-sounding words, like "mindfulness" and "emotional balance." I'm here to confirm that I have read it and it is pretty solidly based in reality. There is nothing hokey in here, nothing that will make you roll your eyes, nothing that will open the doorway for you to be potentially contacted by a demon.
Most of this is pretty reasonable when you think about it, but that's the point--most of us DON'T think about it. These are principles that a good counselor would impart. It includes a lot of great activities--it's not a "reading" book as much as it is a resource book. (I do think the blank spaces included for you to write your responses are a waste of space--we all have paper, there's no need for a quarter of the page to be filled with empty lines. But that's a small thing.)
I'm a skeptic and a pragmatist, and I approve this workbook.
