He’s sure he’ll never fall for a man…

When it rains, it pours. After losing his prestigious job, Vlad discovers that his girlfriend has cheated on him. Angry and hurt, he’s determined to find her lover and teach him a lesson. When he finds out that her lover is bisexual, it only makes him angrier. Raised by an extremely homophobic family, Vlad is convinced he’s straight and holds nothing but contempt for people who aren’t.
But sometimes contempt and anger can turn into obsession, and then into something else entirely—something Vlad has always considered sick and wrong.

He’s sure he’ll never fall for a homophobic bully…

Sebastian is a successful English model who has always detested bullies. When a man shows up on his doorstep accusing him of sleeping with his girlfriend, Sebastian isn’t interested in being a punching bag. However, provoking a homophobic man is probably not the best idea…or the safest. But then again, Sebastian has never been good at playing it safe.

Things get a lot more complicated when Vlad has to bodyguard Sebastian. Can they stay professional?
They can’t. They bicker and fight, and they hate everything about each other.
Now if only they could figure out how to keep their hands off each other.

Warning: references to past bullying and minor character deaths, violence, homophobia, internalized homophobia, hate sex.

still my favs, even upon reread. if anything, my love for them has only grown. 😭 bc i'm already caught up with the series at this point, it was interesting to (finally) understand references from side characters, as well as other couples in this series, and i liked knowing who was who. 😂

"You can't love me," he said at last, his Adam's apple moving.
Sebastian smacked Vlad on the head. "What is that supposed to mean? I can love whoever I want, even a grumpy bear like you. You can't tell me whether I love you or not."

I LOVED THIS. 😭 character development or redemption arcs are some of my fav tropes to read about; when a character is shitty (within reason) at the start of the story but, if you compare them from the beginning vs end, you realize just how far they've come. that was Vlad in a nutshell. i wanted to punch him, but i also wanted to hug him. i appreciated the fact that his upbringing wasn't glossed over. he had to deal with the homophobic shit his uncle taught him and his brothers when they were young and, by the epilogue, it was still stuck in the back of his mind, haunting him. things like that tend to stay with you for a long time, if not forever, and i liked how realistic it felt (even though it was painful seeing how Vlad treated Sebastian in the beginning but, by the end, it was quite obvious things had changed between them). i also loved Sebastian and how he stood up to Vlad, saying what was on his mind (despite his fear bc of what he had to deal with during his hs years). the banters?? chefs kiss. they made me smile. they made me laugh (so much). they made me cry. the only thing i'm not satisfied with is how little we got of them as an official couple. 😩 i wouldn't have minded a novella of them just being cute tbh.

THIS SCENE THOUGH:
Vlad thought back to Tristan DuVal's wedding vow that involved such words "I hated you at first sight, I still hate you for making me so soppy, and I promise to hate you till death do us part." It didn't sound very beautiful or romantic to him.

another enemies to lovers?? i'm there. 👀

this book was my introduction to the series and i'm so glad it worked for me, although i'm not surprised bc i've been obsessed with AH's Calluvia's Royalty series the past few days and her writing style is very addictive imo. ♡

Honestly, the way people talked about Vlad’s character, I expected to be ready to root for him. I knew he was a homophobic prick after meeting him in the previous book, but Vlad’s character development was hardly even there. The execution of it was glossed over, as if we simply had to accept he would come to this realization himself at some point without showing us his process of doing so. You turn one page and suddenly the man was completely changed. There was no wavy shift; it was a straight line he started randomly taking after constant homophobic remarks to Seb and others like Roman and Luke.

He was security head of a Russian mafia leader yet he kept giving in to Sebastian’s baits. For someone who claimed to be as straight as he was, Vlad was pathetic. Sebastian kept taunting him with remarks to get into his head, and Vlad just went into them. He’d challenge him by accusing him of being scared because he wouldn’t do something like suck Seb’s cock, and because he was scared it would turn him gay, so Vlad obliged. It was a repetitive formula for around 60% of the book, and then that’s when Vlad started having his so-called character development. I went into this expecting angst - there’s obviously a push and pull relationship between the two protagonists because of Vlad’s internalized homophobia and the way he won’t accept he isn’t who he thinks he is. Yet that push and pull relationship swiftly changed in a matter of pages as we’re reading, giving zero actual development to show the reader how it changed.

Look, I’m a fan of characters denying their feelings but still giving in. It definitely can add tension and build up for the relationship, but because of how homophobic Vlad was for more than 50% of the book yet would happily oblige when Seb taunted him, it was difficult to see where the relationship shifted.

The characters had zero personality. Vlad’s entire personality trait is on being homophobic and Seb…Seb was just there. I think he was a model, if my goldfish memory serves me right. Other than that, there’s nothing else remarkable about them. Vlad’s current way of thinking is obviously connected to his past and his uncle, so his homophobic tendencies and conservative mindset were going to be something he struggled with. The author doesn’t gloss over it and completely ignore it, even towards the end, which I thought was realistic because of his inner voices. Yet, personally, when it comes to characters who have internalized homophobia and have a sexual awakening, I like seeing how that awakening comes to be. But with Vlad, we don’t see that. His “awakening” is shown right upon meeting Seb. It felt underdeveloped and hardly there. Vlad’s personality and attitude takes a whole 360 in a matter of days/pages. Before I knew it, he was apologizing to Luke and then went up to Seb to confess how he wanted him. It was random, thrown on the pages with zero thought process. Adding on to that, his backstory is clearly used as a tool to feel bad for him and understand where he’s coming from. To an extent, I got it, but I couldn’t maintain support when he did nothing for it. If you’re going to make your character homophobic and have internalized homophobia, show him fighting it. Instead, Vlad’s inner monologue would consist of him denying his feelings or saying how sick it was and whatnot all while bottoming for Seb.

He gets a blow job by Sebastian the moment he meets him after beating him up for sleeping with his now ex girlfriend. The rest of their interactions is a formulaic cycle of non stop hate sex with Vlad calling Seb a faggot and claiming he isn’t one, all while obliging to Seb’s taunts of “Are you scared this will make you gay?” and Vlad accepting his challenge to prove his isn’t gay.

In other words, Vlad was kind of a doormat. He easily gave in to Seb, which is why the character development was a disappointment. I expected him to resist more, yet the only resistance came from his mind, but not his actions. If Seb challenged him sexually, Vlad easily gave in. The way I see it, Seb had him wrapped around his finger. It was pathetic. I expected more from Vlad, but he came off as a weak character to me.

While I understand AH’s books are over the top and ridiculous, and one that most likely needs to taken lightly and with zero belief, I think there still needs to be some spark in the relationship, whether it’s sexual or emotional, but there was none here. Their chemistry was none existent when it was fueled with hate and slurs. Even if I read a book where I’ve suspended disbelief and am there just for the ride, if your characters are bland, the chemistry between them is non existent, and the development takes a full turn in little time, there’s gonna be no enjoyment. I don’t think anyone would enjoy any book if they don’t even like the characters or the relationship, so this book was bound to be a failure for me right from the beginning, unfortunately. There was no redeeming quality and, therefore, nothing to like or root for.

Also, what’s the deal with the pov changes? There was a random pov through Luke here and it felt unnecessary and added nothing.

✦ i freaking LOVE!!!! when authors manage to completely change my view of a character throughout a book. i absolutely hated Vlad in the beginning for obvious reasons, but after i learned why he is the way he is, and saw his very unfortunate thought process, i started to pity him and root for him to accept himself. by the end of the book i absolutely loved him.

✦ i loved Sebastian too, he was a wonderful guy! the way he called Vlad his grumpy bear… 😭

✦ the epilogue was wonderful. it was so beautiful to witness Vlad finally accepting that “love is love. there was absolutely nothing wrong with loving someone of his own sex.” his love confession to Sebastian made me tear up. 🥺♥️♥️♥️

Just a Bit Wicked is book seven in the Straight Guys series by Alessandra Hazard. This one is Vlad and Sebastian’s book and I loved them both so much!

We met Vlad in the previous book. He was Roman’s head of security and the one responsible for helping Luke to escape which cost Vlad his job. He was lucky to only lose his job and not his life as well! When he returned home he also discovered that his girlfriend had cheated on him. Vlad was not having a very good week! When he confronts the man she cheated on him with, we’ll just say that things didn’t go as planned.

Sebastian Sumner is twenty five years old, seven years younger than Vlad. He is a famous model, bi-sexual and also the man who Vlad’s now ex-girlfriend had a one night stand with. BUT, Sebastian had no idea she had a boyfriend. He would never be with someone that was in a relationship.

These two couldn’t have been more different. Sebastian had been bullied terribly in high school but he never hid his sexuality. Vlad was raised in a terrible household that taught hate and anger for anything outside the male/female relationship. The awful words were constantly in his head. As a result, his pull towards Sebastian angered and confused him.

This was definitely an enemies to lovers romance. I normally don’t enjoy this trope so much but this one I did. My heart hurt for both of these guys. For Seb because of what he had experienced when he was young and the way Vlad’s behavior brought so much of it back. But also for Vlad, fighting against everything he had been taught as a child. Fighting against his feelings. It was so confusing for him. We also get lots of angry sex!

This book did deal with some darker themes as a group threatened the safety of gay men in prominent positions. It was this danger that brought Vlad back into Sebastian’s life. This was another great addition to this series. The next book will be book eight, Just a Bit Shameless which is Sam and Dominic’s book!

"The memory of his uncle’s words seemed grotesque and ridiculous as Vlad watched the happy couple share a kiss.
There was nothing unnatural or disgusting about it.
They were happy, they were in love, they were standing in front of their friends and loved ones, committing to a lifetime together.
His uncle had been wrong.
Rationally, Vlad had known that for a long time now, but it was the first time he knew it, felt it with every fiber of his being.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with loving someone of his own sex."

Third reread-Jan 2023

Kind of want to reread the entire series again; maybe I am just a bit obsessed?😩

Second reread- July 2022

Sebastian and Vlad have certainly made quarantine bearable 😩😩 love these two. Second favorites next to Logan and Andrew❤️

***4.5 rating***

“I love you,” he said haltingly. Those three little words had been on the tip of his tongue so many times lately, but Vlad’s hang-ups had always prevented him from saying them. “I love you,” he said firmer when Sebastian’s eyes widened. “I’m in love with you.”

Well I'll be damned what a charming surprise this book was. It's my second favorite out of the series after Tris and Zack's story.

I had no idea what to expect going into this. I was hesitant due to Vlad's internalized homophobia and the homophobic language in this book. But after reading books by Gregory Ashe, the language in this was rather tame.

I won't lie it was a tough read but also a very enjoyable one.

I absolutely loved Vlad's character development and him coming into terms with who he is and who he loves. I loved him wanting and desiring Sebastian, even though his morale was against the temptation.

I sympathized with Seb and his insecurities. I hate that he was bullied and attacked. I also hated how vile Vlad was towards him but of course as the story progressed, I loved them both.

Vlad's backstory from the previous book was well done. So going into this book, we knew what was what and got a sense of the demons Vlad was battling internally.

I am convinced Tris and Zack are AH's favorite couple 🤣. They got an engagement and a wedding. I loved it ❤️. I also enjoyed seeing Roma and Luke together.💕

This book was such a treat. Tough read emotionally but also sweet and romantic. To see such a tough man like Vlad come undone by someone like Seb was heart-melting. I also laughed at how Vlad was happy that Nina did cheat on him🤣

“In hindsight, I’m glad you slept with my girlfriend,” Vlad said, squeezing his fingers. “We should send Nina a thank you card.” Sebastian threw his head back and laughed, happy and carefree."

Thank you indeed for bringing our faves together 😂.

Another funny moment in this book was Vlad and his fixation on Seb's poor ass. 😂🤣. Idk why he kept saying Seb has a "thick ass"💀. Ain't he a Calvin Klein model? Lmao. Vlad's an ass man I am assuming 😂. Hahahaha.

Going into this book I didn't not think I was gonna love it so much. But what do you know ? I did.

An enjoyable read overall!

Second re-read: 17.04.2021
Surprisingly this re-read wasn't that bad. While some things bothered me, I still enjoyed it much more than I thought, considering how my previous readings of this book had went. That said, I must say that I wish Vlad was more powerful. I like my men powerful, and it felt a bit wrong that Luke ordered Vlad around. I don't like that the main H fears someone, and Vlad fearing Roman just wasn't hot. I also like my men more dominant. In books. Overall, I the first half was best and nothing really happened in this book. Still liked it though. I didn't love it or found it great, but yeah, it was enjoyable enough.
New rating: 3 (weak) stars.

Re-read: 03.02.2019
Hmmmm....... it took me quite a while to get myself to re-read this one in my re-read of this series. I remember not really enjoying this book all that much so it was a struggle to finally pick the book up. And frankly, I'm still feeling the same, or more indifferent as I did with book six. The story lacks depth for some reason and I don't actually care for the characters. Overall, I'm glad I did the re-read though, for it's not the worst book to read, it's just the worst in the series.

Other Characters:
Nina, was Vlad's steady girlfriend of two year whom he caught cheating.
Charves a Peruvian gangster with a personal vendetta against Roman. He was also ape-shit crazy and therefore unpredictable.
Zach Hardaway and Tristan DuVal, couple of four.
Roman Demidov, Vlad's boss and his boyfriend Luke Whitford. Couple of book six.
Hermione, Sebastian's cat
Julia, Sebastian's sister.
Zoe, Sebastian's agent.
Mike Fletcher, the PE teacher. He was a student with Sebastian who was a bully.
Melinda Sumner, Sebastian's mother.
Antonio Bonaventura, a model had known Sebastian for ages, having entered the modeling industry about the same time. They're not friends, but they were good acquaintances—and casual fuck-buddies whenever they were in the same town.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Worst in the series*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

First read review:
Just like the last previous book(s), I felt indifferent. I didn't like security/bodyguard, Vladislav ‘Vlad’ (32), never felt any good emotions towards him. I didn't find him hot, or sexy or badass.. I just disliked him personally. And when it comes to the successful model, Sebastian ‘Seb’ Sumner (25) I felt nothing for him. I didn't like him, I didn't dislike him. He was just there. Overall, I was disappointed in this story, although I wasn't expecting anything else before I started reading it. I did like seeing Roman again though.
“Don’t let a past mistake or the fear of a future one ruin your life. Don’t let him win.”

Told mostly in dual POV, 3rd person, it’s the seventh installment in the "Straight Guys" series with characters crossover and I think it’s better if you read it in order. It’s an enemies-to-lovers story and an angsty read. I loved MCs banter; mostly they were insults but I enjoyed every word of it, some of it even made me smile wildly! Overall, loved it and hope you enjoy it as well!

Dark romances... sigh. I love them.

I don't know how to begin writing about Vlad, because I genuinely liked him. He was a homophobic bastard, but unlike other bullies without brains, he grasped the patterns of his thoughts and worked through his baggage, albeit slowly and with lots of stumbling steps in between.

So what was so wicked about this story?

Russian security expert (or semi-criminal, as I got the impression) Vlad is re-hired by his former boss (aka one of the protagonists from a previous book in this series) to protect his lover Luke in London while he needs to go on a mission abroad.

Vlad accepts, but dislikes Luke, not understanding why his macho boss who used to fuck a new girl every night suddenly acts all enamored with a man, and an effeminate one to boot.

Vlad sneers at 'faggots', a deeply ingrained irrational sentiment that his cruel uncle beat into him in Vlad's sad childhood in rural Russia.

However, little does Vlad expect to run once again into a bisexual guy he roughened up in Moscow before letting him suck him off - and secretly liking it. But male model Sebastian is actually a friend of Luke's and since there is a gay bashing cult on the loose, Luke suggests that Sebastian moves in with him, so Vlad can protect them both.

Sebastian hates the Russian brute, but can't help riling the man up, knowing that despite their brutal encounter in Moscow after Sebastian slept with Vlad's girlfriend, Sebastian did leave the homophobic bully speechless after a spectacular blowjob.

The two keep getting in each other's faces, hating and cursing each other - and ending in bed every single time.

Surprisingly, Vlad does process his emotions pretty well in the course of his story, so the actual wicked part of the book is him realizing that yes, he is gay, but has homophobic views that do not permit him to accept himself and his homosexuality.

Sebastian accepts a weird friends with benefits agreement, knowing fully well that Vlad might hate himself and Sebastian for the moments of intimacy (okay, let's call them hot sex) that they share. But despite Vlad being an intimidating muscle hunk who could tear him apart with one hand, he feels safe in his arms.

Damn, these two did sail beautifully into a happy ending here. It was a true joy to see. And yet it was a dark ride, because a homophobic character who does not accept himself is rare in mm romance. Still, I genuinely liked Vlad. No matter what he said about gay people, no matter the dark voices in his mind, he was always an ally instead of an antagonist to Sebastian and Luke.
He was like a grumpy bear, who lashed out at the people around him, but ended up protecting the men he was in charge of.

Maybe Vadim Krasnorada ruined me, I don't know. Give me a Russian romance character and I'm happy.

In short, this story was really well done and I enjoyed it a lot. This series is something that I cannot read in one go because the themes sure are twisted and dark, but the individual books are incredibly captivating, so it's an adventure to come back for more again and again.

Don't miss out on this one, it can be read as a standalone, you do not need to know the other books.

5 stars!

After I finished Just a bit Ruthless, I needed to read this one immediately because I’m quite curious about Vlad the badass and I was also hoping to get more glimpses of Roman and Luke from book6. 😁 And boy boy, how pleased I was to get my wishes fulfilled. 😉

Vlad, the former head of the security of the Russian billionaire Roman Demidov, recently being fired for interfering in his personal life. Beat-up, angry and frustrated .. and to make things worse, when he went back home, he found out that his 2 years of girlfriend cheated on him and slept with someone. Just to escape from all those pent-up frustration and because he had never hit women despite the fact being a criminal/security, he decided to teach that guy his girlfriend slept with a lesson.

Sebastian, 25 years old, successful bi-sexual model, currently on a business trip in Moscow. When someone knocked his hotel room’s door, he didn’t realize he’d be facing with the boyfriend of someone he just slept with a couple days ago. The thing is he never slept with taken people but he truly had no idea the woman had a boyfriend. And another thing, the hulk who showed up in front of him didn’t know the fact that he didn’t know. He had always known his sassy mouth will get him in trouble and it surely got him into being beaten this time too. But the argument and the fight turned into him sucking off the bully who has just beaten him. He just never hoped to see the bully again.

6 months later, a very unlikey circumstances and perhaps fate brought this two to live in a penthouse together. 😁 Vlad is a very repressed gay guy who didn’t even realize that he likes guy. His upbringing and because he lived in Russia, he always associated being gay with being weak. And Sebastian had a terrible past that hurt him deeply. He may seem friendly, social and happy but deep down, he’s afraid of getting hurt again when he let someone into his heart. Despite genuinely loathing to each other, the sexual tension between them is uncontrollable. 😜 Whenever these two end up in a room, they either bicker and fight or end up pouncing on each other and have sex. 😂👏

I love that both MCs are kind of damaged in their own ways. For Seb, it’s to overcome his inner insecurities and fears of letting someone in and for Vlad, to overcome his ingrained upbringing of hating homosexuals. In a way, they helped each other to find their way home and to their hearts. 💙 The storyline is a bit calmer than the 6th book, nonetheless, still interesting. I love how built-up and how much work they had to put into for their relationship to work. And since I just couldn’t get enough of Luke and Roman, I’m so happy that I got a lot of glimpses of them in this novel. And as usual, the smut was fantastic. 😍 I love that instead of being one top and another bottom, both of them are versatile and they take their roles alternatively. That’s so hot. 😱 And I love how Vlad was finally able to overcome his ingrained opinions and being able to admit that he loves Sebastian. This was a great read and with a very merry HEA.

Favorite excerpts from the novel: 💚💙💚

“It makes me a bit mad, but it’s also kind of sweet? I love him, and he loves me. No one is perfect. Some things are worth it. Love is worth it.”

“I could have loved you. In another life, they could have been something together. Something good and strong and bright. Something that didn’t hurt. Maybe in another life”

“Don’t let a past mistake or the fear of a future one ruin your life. Don’t let him win.”

“Love was love. There was absolutely nothing wrong with loving someone of his own sex.”

Fucking hell! This was without a doubt the toughest read in this series so far for me. The homophobia and verbal degradation from Vlad was definitely unsettling. Vlad vlad vlad where do even begin? He came a long way especially with respect to his sexuality. He was downright homophobic in the majority of the story until he felt things to another man. He was confused, tried to fight it but n the end like all the previous main characters didn’t able to resist the pull. And the fucking ending! The last chapter and the epilogue made me bawl my eyes out. So far this book has the best ending. When Vlad finally said the little magical three words back to Seb, it was the end for me. I gasped and definitely teared up a little. I can finally breathe. I lived. I gagged. I thrived. In a way this book sated me.

an Alessandra Hazard book that i.... actually liked???

everyone say thank you to Charee for convincing me to give this series another shot.

i enjoyed this for a number of reasons, but i honestly think the main one is how the power dynamic felt equal. Vlad was the “straight” homophobic prick, but it didn’t mean that he held all of the power over Sebastian. he pushes back against Vlad, matching him toe for toe and they’re just so well-suited despite how different both men are.

and i think the other reason was Vlad’s personal growth as a character. i actually teared up towards the end. i found his internalised homophobia to be portrayed so authentically; the way the voice in his head would slip in and out of the narrative, how he began to put his actions into perspective, how he naturally grew comfortable with the queer men around him, and ultimately himself.
Vlad sucked on his bottom lip, his hands holding Sebastian’s hips in a bruising grip. “Throw me out,” he croaked, kissing the corner of Sebastian’s mouth. “Please, throw me out.”

and it was the perfect kinda toxicity for me, honestly. it was the type of toxic relationship where there’s a lot of baggage, possessiveness, and jealousy, but they don’t repress one another. toxic relationships in romance when one MC stifles the other, not allowing them to grow and thrive and live, that’s when i hate toxic romances. but this kind? when they thrive and grow together in spite of the toxicity surrounding their relationship? i enjoy it... a lot, ngl. i still have morals, you see.

they fight for one another, defend one another, admire one another, and attempt to understand one another, even if their upbringing and lifestyles fight against them. and honestly, while the basis of their relationship was toxic, id say in the end, it was pretty healthy with Vlad’s growth in accepting himself and openly loving Sebastian. idk, this one just worked so well for me.

especially the possessiveness and jealousy 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 there were too many times to count where their jealousy (well, mainly Vlad’s lol) jumped out and had me by the throat. like yes bby kill that birch for daring to look at Sebastian. i didn’t think id love him as much as i did since in the previous book he was such a dick. trying to imagine him in a relationship with a man after the way he’s acted in the past... i wasn’t convinced AH could pull it off. but it felt so natural for me. more so than Roman realising he’s into Luke. Vlad just all around won me over and was probably my fave from this book.

no one is more surprised than me😌

“I can’t believe I had your cock in my mouth. I want to throw up just thinking about it.”
Vlad opened his mouth and closed it. “The sentiment is mutual, trust me.”
“Good,” he spit out.
“Great.”
Sebastian lifted his chin. “Perfect.”
“Fantastic.”
Sebastian glared.
Vlad smiled smugly.
Urgh—
Their lips collided in a wet, messy, awful kiss.

i live for this shit. characters who hate keep saying how much they hate each other right before they kiss >>>>>>>>> immaculate, honestly. the whole book was angstier than i expected too, i was just so into it.

I could have loved you.
In another life, they could have been something together. Something good and strong and bright. Something that didn’t hurt.

this book also solidified my dislike of Luke. the hypocrisy of him, wow, he’s so fucking annoying😭 the way he wishes him and Roman were Sebastian and Vlad💅🏻

p.s. i need a bonus chapter or something of the ex, Nina, finding out that Sebastian and Vlad are a couple. i imagine her reaction was priceless.

fourstars.jpg (1600×325):

After reading the previous book and being introduced to homophobic Vlad, I was a bit hesitant to read this one. He was quite the asshole in book 6, and I didn't think his behavior would change any time soon.

Turns out I was mostly right. His behavior did NOT change soon...but I did love reading his book and yes...I even loved him !! Dare I say, he has even become one of my favorite characters in this series....after Tristan that is ;)

tumblr_inline_noc76l4y4s1t64ki9_250.gif (245×175)

I think one of the reasons I feel this way is because he did show so much growth....

Anyways, Vlad was introduced in the previous books as one of Roman's Russian, and very homophobic, guards. Let's just say he didn't leave a really good impression.

This book starts out with Vlad returning back home and finding out that his girlfriend has been cheating on him. Vlad has done many terrible things in his life, but hitting a woman has never been one of them, so he figures he best take it out on the guy she cheated with....and beat him to shit.

This is how he meets Sebastian, a bi-sexual model and the man his girlfriend cheated with. Things don't really go as planned though and soon Vlad finds himself in a situation, that goes against goes against everything he has been taught and believes in. Because being gay is wrong and he isn't gay...he can't be gay....

Not wanting to be gay doesn't stop him from being attracted to Sebastian and wanting to do all sorts of sexual things to and with the man though.

Now getting Vlad's background it was easy to see, how he became the person that he is today. It doesn't make it right and it doesn't excuse his behavior, but it was understandable. As Vlad says so himself....everyone has a right to their own opinion on things. The problem was him being so outspoken about it.

19461882.gif (370×177)

It also didn't help that every other character in this book kept taunting him. This actually annoyed me much more than Vlad's homophobia did. Sebastian at times, acted like a little kid, trying to get his way and he constantly tried to get Vlad to take things one step further. And Vlad...he kept taking the bait... This actually led to Vlad bottoming for the first time, which actually pissed me the hell off.

Now these two go from hate fucking, to fuck buddies, to friends (very shortly) and then to actual lovers. I myself would have liked it, if there would have been more about them being actual lovers instead of fuck buddies. We only get to read about them being together as lovers in the epilogue.

18118785_281238652335682_2581993651904367421_n.jpg (960×960):

What I enjoyed most about this book was Vlad growing into himself. He may have been a big homophobe in the beginning, but to me he wasn't an unlikable character. When he started to realize that his slurs were very hurtful, he stopped using them.  It took a long time for him to accept the fact that he was gay, but like I said.... his character did show real growth.

I did not really expect to like Vlad and Sebastian together as a couple. And, well, I didn’t at first, but at the end I was surprisingly rooting for them quite a bit.

Vlad has a lot of internalized homophobia, and he is also just an arsehole in general. At least, he is a major arsehole before him and Sebastian start to actually develop feelings for each other, but after that he is mostly sweet, possessive and adoring towards him.
Vlad's homophobia stays with him from the beginning until the end, but at least it turns into something a lot less hateful as time goes on. I actually started to feel very sorry for him. I did not think I would ever like Vlad as a character, but I did.

When it comes to the relationship, it’s nothing truly great, but I did find them entertaining and engrossing together. Their connection is mostly based on lust and sex, and there’s not really a deeper connection between them. I usually get super annoyed over stuff like that, but it didn’t bother me a lot here. I don’t know why.

All in all, I thought this was an enjoyable book and I had a good time reading it. It wasn’t amazing or anything, but considering I thought this book would literally frustrate and anger me, I’m rather happy with the end result.

"Just a bit wicked" Is the story of Vlad/Sebastian, their struggle in their relationship, fighting their demons. Especially for Vlad, who is straight and has been brought up in a close minded environment. It was hard been in his head, his homophobic comments for gay people were so cruel. I hated it, and even though it didn't justify it, I understood it considering the way his uncle brain washed him and being brought up in a small closed minded village.

description

Sebastian, was so different he was confident in his sexuality and having been bullied in his teen years which, didn't break him, but made him stronger. Now a successful and sought out model the last thing he wants is to be in a relationship with someone that reminds him of those bullies he faced in the past.

description

This two had such hot chemistry right off the bat, even when they didn't like each other they couldn't keep their hands off one another. Their sexual encounters were so delicious all that sexy growling. But between kisses and touches it starts to be more. Seeing Vlad come to realize his feelings for Sebastian was absolutely my favorite part. His thoughts started changing slowly as his feelings for Sebastian grew and even at the end he was still fighting his negative thoughts. I like how the author made that situation feel realistic.

description

This was a fantastic addition to this series, angsty, sexy, emotional. The struggle of two men who fight not only their own demons but society's. An excellent example how love does win over hate. Of course an added bonus to see Roman and Luke in their happy life. ❤

I enjoy these, but I feel like the formula is getting a bit tired, and perhaps Hazard should wrap it up and start something new...

One thing I noticed... This isn't limited to just this book or author, and it's not really a criticism, just something that makes me wonder.

"He was drawn to this man like a bee to honey."

Why do people say that? Bees make honey. They're drawn to flowers.

Think on that.

Oh my, how to explain the huge blast I had reading this...we are talking here about an almost a 4.5 stars so I guess the rating talks by itself.

A Russian homophobic guy who has been cheated by his girlfriend with a British out and proud bisexual model. Two flames in the same bonfire. Two opposite men strongly attracted to each other. A complete wtf so enjoyable I couldn’t put it down.

Tbh, the first interaction between the MCs is so ridiculous, I can’t even. But at the same time it has the same addictive ingredient Alessandra Hazard provides all her books in this series making you a junkie who doesn’t care about anything else anymore. Because let’s be clear here: these books are like crack and even if I get why they don’t work for some people it seems I can’t have enough of the them. I’m a declared fan of the Just a Bit series and there’s no shame in it. I don’t even care.

The story of Vlad and Sebastian is hot as hell, an enormous and constant turn on and, despite the ridiculousness of some situations, I truly liked the MCs, the story and even if homophobia and bullying are very tricky topics, the way the author treated them, the light-hearted way of telling us, is in perfect harmony with the rest of the books.

So, overall: an entertaining book, fun to read and a total time consuming hole so deep you won’t want to go out. Not to eat, not to sleep even less to socialize. In fact, I’m gonna stay here and start book 8 in a super appealing BR.

“I would apologize for giving your girlfriend an orgasm, but now she and you are even.”

so this guy just found out her girlfriend cheated on him, he went to the guy she cheated with's place planning to beat him up and walked out getting a blowjob instead

Vlad smiled and threw it on top of Sebastian’s hair. The cat yowled.
“What the…?” Sebastian grunted, rolling onto his back and rubbing at his eyes. He cradled the spooked animal to his bare chest and glared sleepily at Vlad. “Do you have to be an asshole to innocent animals, too?”
“That innocent animal pissed on my bed.”
Sebastian patted his cat on the head, smiling. “Bad girl, Hermione. You should have pissed on his dumb face.”
Vlad snorted. “Hermione? I thought you couldn’t get lamer. What grown man names his cat after a children’s book character?”
Sebastian smiled, very sweetly. “Oh, you’re a fan, too! What’s your favorite Harry Potter pick-up line?”
Vlad gave him a flat look. Did this guy think he was funny?
“This must be the room of requirement, because you’re exactly what I need,” Sebastian said, looking stupidly pleased with himself. “Wait, I know more. Let me think…”
“Please don’t,” Vlad said. “You’ll hurt yourself.”
Sebastian didn’t seem fazed. His gaze grew heavy-lidded as he leaned back against the pillows and murmured, looking at Vlad, “I must be under the Imperius curse, because I’d love to do anything for you.”
“That was terrible,” Vlad said, crossing his arms over his bare chest.
“Was it? I’ve got a different one.” Sebastian’s dark eyes lingered on Vlad’s arms. “I can be your house elf,” he said. “I’ll do whatever you need, and I don’t need any clothes, Master.”
“You’re hilarious,” Vlad ground out. “Not.”
As though not having heard him, Sebastian let his gaze travel down Vlad’s chest to his crotch clad in black boxers. “I’d even let your basilisk into my chamber of secrets,” he said, licking his lips obscenely and smirking. “Is that your wand or are you just happy to see me?”
Vlad wanted to strangle him. “You’re a child. An overgrown, ridiculous child.”
“That’s a bit disturbing, mate,” Sebastian said. “I hope you don’t get a boner around actual children.”
“It’s called morning wood,” Vlad gritted out.

fucking adored the banter

"Why are you behaving like—like some old-fashioned father protecting the virtue of his little girl?”

that's basically Vlad and Seb's relationship in a nutshell. overall i enjoyed 'em but i needed more angst

Vlad is a hard man to love. I hated him in Just a bit Ruthless. I also disliked him the first quarter of the book, then he slowly grew on me. By the end, his grumpiness and willingness to grow into a man he was so afraid to be, captured my heart. I finally understood why Sebastian loved him too.

I expected this book to be bad going into it. WOW did I royally underestimate that thought 😳

This book was horrible.
Actually, NAHHHH. Horrible is too tame of a word to exclaim the extend of my mortification.

SO WHY DID I RATE THIS 3⭐? GOOD QUESTION.
→ I don't have an answer for you 🤡

Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that I adore Alessandra with my whole heart and respect the hell out of her, I would've dnfed this book within the first chapter.

Why?

Lemme give you some context.

Hero #1: Vlad , homophobic ass who got fired in book 6, russian, muscle the size of big guns.

Hero #2: Sebastien , personality as pretentious as his name, english, model, “thick ass”.

Now, let me start by the beginning.

💨Vlad comes home after being fired, to find his girlfriend cheating on him by a fucking used condom on their bed. ✋

🤡 Confronts his EXgirlfriend who refuses to reveal the name of the guy she fucked, blah blah blah, Vlad ended up finding him. And guess who he fucking found? Sebastien the fucker who I don't think ONCE apologized. 🤡

Are you getting my point?

DO YOU GET MY POINT?

SO, my GR besties, this romance is about a guy who has deeply engrained homophobic tendencies, and his sexual tension with the guy who fucked his ex, somehow ended up giving him head throughout the first meeting and reunite one faithful day.

How fucking delightful.

“I’ve never despised anyone as much as I despise you,” he said, very calmly. He scrunched up his nose.

Ugk I hate this book so much, I think my mind exploded by how many times I read the word faggot . Honestly, my only saving grace from this book is Vlad's character development throughout this book. Everyone else can burn in hell, and YES, that includes Sebastien whatever-lastname.

Expect Luke and Roman. My babies cameo had more sparks than these two hilarious excuses of a characters ever did.

It’s sick.
Vlad wanted him.
It’s a perversion.
He wanted him.
It’s depraved and wicked.
He wanted him.

OKAY. okay. ✋ I know I might be overselling it by how HORRIBLE this book is, and honestly the first half of this book was throw it out the fucking window vibes.

The middle part was okay. (fuck if I remember what happened in the middle, probably lots of sex)

And the latter of this book was the best part if you're asking me (mainly because Vlad's character development was 🤌)

And wanna know what happened at the end?

Classic Alessandra Hazard BETRAYAL.

“Then be more,” he whispered with a smile.
Vlad’s blue eyes smiled.

Hmm I think the plot in this one is very silly and not really my cuppa. I wasn’t immensed into the enemies to lovers trope and their connection overall. However, it was a fine read. Can’t give this higher bcz I don’t really care abt them in the end. Imo this is one of the weakest installment of Hazard’s. and….this is my last book of the year. Yay.

MM Romance
Enemies To Lovers
4.5 stars rounded up

This book was REALLY hard to read but by the end I was all choked up, in a good way. Fucking Vlad. I hated Vlad in the last book and most of this one too. I couldn’t stand his homophobia and his use of the F word. No, not fuck. I fucking love the word fuck. I refuse to write the word he used so often. Reading MM romance has been everything I never knew I needed BUT the books heavy on the hate, the church and homophobia are hard to read and sometimes it’s just too much. This was too much but the character redemption in this is some of the best I’ve seen. It was also believable and I wasn’t of the belief I could ever love Vlad, or even like him for that matter. But I did, I fell in love with him much like Sebastian did. And the ending, fuck. This has one of the best endings because for once AH didn’t leave me wanting. It was perfect and it made me all teary eyed. I fucking loved it.

This book also got me thinking. Part of why I fell so hard for Vlad in the end and why I could forgive him was because I was understanding of his backstory and the way he was raised. I was lucky enough to be raised in a diverse place by parents who had open minds and hearts. I was brought up to respect and love all kinds of different people regardless of how they looked, where they came from, who they loved etc and I feel like I’m all the better for it. Today, because of the internet, even people being raised in isolated areas with little to no diversity have the ability to expand their minds but living in an isolated area like Vlad, in the middle of a farm with no internet and someone constantly filling his mind with homophobic thoughts, it’s not hard to see why he turned out the way he did no matter how hard it was to read about. It also made his redemption that much sweeter.

And to think, I almost skipped this one.

I loved quite a few book in this series, but, for some reason, this one didn't click with me as much.

I remember Vlad, the homophobic bodyguard from the previous book. I actually felt sorry for him then because he lost his job over helping Luke. Here he comes across as a man lost in oodles of bitter- and grumpiness. I could see that his terrible attitude, his vile behaviour and even some of his awfully short temper were caused by his inner struggle to figure out who he was. And he had some serious issue from the past to come to terms with.

I still found it hard to connect with him. He is just too .... everything I said above. There is too much black and white from where he starts and where he ends. I was waiting for shades of grey in between, but there wasn't too much. His character development is too easy, too swift and I wasn't buying it.

And Sebastian has far too much patience with him. And I really couldn't see why. Sebastian is successful and gorgeous and hates everything Vlad stands for at the beginning. Understandably so. I LOVED the idea of their hate/love relationship. But I felt this was so much better done with Tristan and Zach! (And I really enjoyed meeting them on the sidelines at their engagement party and following wedding!)

This could have been explosive, emotionally raw and a lot more angsty. I enjoyed it, but for me it does not compare to some of the earlier books.

At this point this entire series of books is just crack. I’m super addicted, all chapped lips and itching.

This one wasn’t as great as the last book, but it still delivered a solid angst ridden story. I love all the internal struggle and shit.

Hated the use of all the F word (Faggot) . I think mans feelings was clear without all that. Overall, a solid read in this wonderful and very controversial series. It’s not for everybody and if you look closely there’s some iffy shit about it all, but I’m already hooked and I can’t look away.

Side Note- The bad cult club was just so unnecessary. It was like putting boiling water on already cooked rice.

Well, that was that 🥵

And as all AH’s books, it left me a bit weirded out, slightly aroused and thoroughly entertained.

There were a bit too many slurs (f* alone came up 50 times, I kid you not) and the heavy internalised homophobia was a lot.

Still, they were hot, what can I say.
Also, there was a cat. Named Hermione. Soooo…

I’M LOVING THIS SERIES.

I’m reading completely out of order, but they still make sense. In a way, you could say they are standalone's, although some characters from the previous book appear in this one. But is not hard to follow.

When I’d realize that we were getting to see more of Roman and Luke I lost it. I love that couple so much. I’m so happy they are completely out of this world in love 😍

This story basically is about a man who is not ready to be okay that he is gay. And then we have the other, who is a bisexual model that has no problem with it.
I really liked how real it feels, the doubt, the development the characters had, the relationship and how the world sees such things.
Because it would have been fake as fuck if there wasn’t a person in the book who didn’t have a problem with it.

•Like every book in this series, you can expect

This

And this

(sweet kiss)

And this

(hot kiss)

And this

(to people in love, because they totally are and I adore them)

I absolutely adore this series, even though I haven’t finished reading all of the books. I don’t know when I will get around to do it, but at some point, I will.
And if you have doubts about starting this, JUST READ IT, you won’t regret it.
