The Magic Necklace is the first title in a new series about best friends, and next door neighbours, Charlotte Williams and Mia Thompson. The girls are inseparable and then Charlotte’s mum announces that she has taken a job in America and the family will be moving! However, help comes in the surprising form of their old babysitter, Alice, who, in very modern fashion has found fame through a TV talent show and become a pop star. She gives the girls two pendants to wear and assures them that wishes do come true…
These pendants take the two girls to the Wishing Star Palace where Secret Princesses come to meet in an enchanted land. The girls find that they are potential Friendship Princesses and they have to work together to grant wishes and bring happiness. Happily deciding to become Trainee Princesses leads the girls into an adventure with, of course, in true Fairy Tale fashion, a baddie – the wicked Princess Poison and, hopefully, a Happy Ever After. My nine year old daughter loved this story and is looking forward to reading on in the series. A fun, feel good story, with a good mix of the real world and the fantasy.
Charlotte and Mia are best friends but set to be separated by Charlotte's family moving to America!
As they face their unhappy lives apart, the girls discover thanks to their friend and former babysitter now pop star, Alice whom gives them magic necklaces.
The girls go on a magical adventure every time they feel lonely being apart and discover a world full of love and hate so strong it could break the princesses palace of it carries on!
In this book they help Olivia as she faces having rubbish party and being the new girl, doubts anyone will show up.
A magical world parallel to our own normal one provides the girls a chance to keep their friendship as strong as it is while no time moves on. The girls set to train up as full princesses over the books to come as they need to obtain jewels to provide them with their finished princess jewellery. They are short but fun reads for young children and any little girl would like to be a princess at some time!
I love reading my childhood favourites again they’re just soo interesting and I found this book really good so I am going to continue reading this series!I am soo excited to read the next book!

My seven year old daughter has never been interested in the Rainbow Fairy series, despite a few attempts. This provided another opportunity to engage her in to literature and it's been successful. It was helpful that she could relate to the characters, they are created to appeal to the most generic nature of young girls, which is smart writing.
She is able to read it herself, with a minimal amount of guidance and support (a few words don't sound out e.g. "imagination") and the frequent pictures are well drawn and back up the world created in the reader's mind. There are enough pictures to break up the text, which can be intimidating for some younger readers. Again, another example of the well thought approach to this series.
Although she has not quite finished the book, she is already eagerly awaiting the opportunity to read the next books. That's a success story, right there.
I give this book five stars because Charlotte and Mia saved the day for Olivia's birthday party. And they loved a pop star called Alice De Silver who is a secret princess, she has a gymnastic necklace on her neck. She has to have it all of the time because its her secret princess necklace.
Charlotte and Mia can get a half of a love heart each only if they save the day in all their adventures. They are one step ahead because they saved the day in this, the first, book.
I have to get a Dolphin Adventure next and I am happy and excited.
I thought this book was exciting and shocking with surprises and what I liked the most are the beautifully drawn pictures. I suggest that it could have been a bit longer.
