An Echoes of Nutt Hill novel. Perfect for fans of Joanna Trollope.
Exiled to the country for bad behaviour, what did he expect? Certainly not her. Tristan’s mother is planning one last ditch attempt to reform her son. He is removed to the country where he meets Michelle, or tries not to. The woman is not worth the shoes on his feet, or so he believes at first, but Michelle has a great deal she can teach him and she doesn’t wait long to start.
‘You mustn’t fall for his charms,’ they said.
‘You will never fit into his life.’
Can she change him enough to have a shot at the dream?
Thrust together, the two spark-up a tenuous friendship, and so the journey begins.

Tristan's mother thinks her son needs to learn a lesson. That's why she decides to take away his phone, his wallet and his car. She drops him off at a remote cottage that has no luxuries and gives him an allowance that will cover food and not much else. He's supposed to stay there for a couple of weeks and the aim is to make him realize that he needs to make something of his life. There's one person he's allowed to contact, a girl he doesn't know named Michelle. Tristan is a spoiled brat and he needs someone who's strong enough to tell him the truth. He also needs some lessons to acquire basic life skills and Michelle is the perfect person to help him with that. Tristan finds her incredibly attractive, but they're from different worlds, so it could never work between them, or could it?

A Different Life is a wonderful story about two people who haven't found much happiness in their lives yet. While Tristan's parents are rich. He's never given money a lot of thought and takes the means to allow excessive spending for granted. Tristan seems lucky, but his life is empty. Michelle grew up being poor, but having a loving family made up for the lack of money. She doesn't have much income now either, but she makes things work, even when her wallet is practically empty. Her heart was broken by someone years ago and she hasn't let anyone in since. She deserves a break and I hoped she would get a chance to be young again for a while. Tristan and Michelle are both amazing people and I loved them from the start. They have fabulous chemistry and their love story is original and interesting.

Wendy Lou Jones always writes honest books about real life. She doesn't spare her characters and that makes her stories realistic. She has a beautiful distinctive writing style and I enjoyed reading her unique combinations of words. I loved the creative beginning of A Different Life and think Wendy Lou Jones has a great sense of humor. Her story is emotional, but it's filled with many surprises as well. The main characters have fascinating personalities. Tristan and Michelle are both vulnerable and are trying desperately to protect themselves and the person they love. They want to be brave and are striving to make things perfect, but because of that they don't always make the wisest decisions. This leads to many moving scenes that made me want to keep reading. I read A Different Life in one sitting, I couldn't put it down and I was completely mesmerized by the stunning heartwarming romance.

The Echoes of Nut Hill series is amazing and A Different Life is another terrific book by Wendy Lou Jones that can easily be read as a standalone. The characters are all fantastic and they have a special place in my heart. I highly recommend this charming, moving and incredibly romantic series.

Michelle has always lived in a small town. She has two sisters and a younger brother. Ever since they lost their mother, Michelle has been taking care of her younger brother Jake. Both of her sisters are starting their own families, so it's basically just Michelle and Jake. Michelle doesn't have much money, but always makes an effort to have enough food on the table and she manages to provide for whatever Jake needs. She is a sweet and kindhearted girl. Michelle gets a request from Maggie, a caring, and sometimes kindly meddling, lady in a wheelchair who wants to make everyone's life better, to help Tristan out when necessary. Her instructions are to remain firm and to ignore his pleas. Being the generous person she is Michelle accepts this unusual job.

Tristan never had to give money any thought. Coming from a rich family he's used to having everything he wants. Unfortunately money doesn't buy a happy life. Tristan dropped out of university because he hated the direction he was being forced to take by his parents. Tristan's mother thinks her son needs to learn a lesson, which will hopefully help him become more mature. She sends Tristan to a small cottage that only has the basic necessities with just enough money to buy food for the week. Tristan has no phone, laptop or any other electronic device to contact the outside world. He does get a walkie-talkie just in case there is an emergency. Tristan will only be able to contact Michelle and she isn't going to cut him any slack.

Tristan is incredibly spoiled and he doesn't know what it's like to live without plenty of money. He has never seen or experienced how the other half lives. This results in a lot of hilarious situations, he has no idea what to do, left on his own in this small basic cottage. Michelle is always just getting by and has to be careful with the little money she has. She's very skilled at making ends meet without having much of anything. I liked the way she and Tristan connected when they finally meet each other. Even though they're from different worlds they forget about that when they are together. Both of them are easy to like and I opened my heart to them straight away.

Wendy Lou Jones has a way of pulling me in immediately with her words. She is an incredibly skilled storyteller. A Different Life is a beautiful story about two people whose worlds couldn't be more different, while they are actually more alike than they initially thought. I loved the way their story evolves and how their love slowly blossoms. A Different Life is another unique and gripping story in the Echoes of Nutt Hill series. I couldn't put this book down and flew through the pages because I wanted to know how it would end. Wendy Lou Jones is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints me with her wonderful stories.

Advice

The books in the Echoes of Nut Hill series can easily be read a standalones, but as they are all special, they are so much better together.

A sweet, NA rural romance which brings together a pampered young man (Tristan), who faces standing on his own two feet, and Michelle, a young girl too-accustomed to the full weight of responsibility. Both are hamstrung by their backgrounds, Tris’s filthy rich, 'Chelle’s quite the opposite. They need each other for balance—though it takes a fair few challenges for them to realise this.

The writing is clear, the pacing gentle, the heat is kept on the low-down. I particularly enjoyed how the relationship moved from initial snap judgments, through to a wary friendship that deepens with trust and confidence, to give Tris and Michelle their chance at a deserved HEA.

Though I would prefer a faster pace—because I have the attention span of a gnat—A Different Life provides a decent read for when the nights draw in and a cosy fire beckons.

4 beautiful A Different Life awaits you stars

Tristan, youngest son of the Lyle-Pemberton household has been spoiled in many ways, but neglected in a few. His life is shallow and he has been brought to the hill to make that change.

And he's about to get schooled by Michelle.

I absolutely loved this charming story.
