Lola Darling is a romantic with a naughty side. Born and raised in Texas, she's a lover of lip gloss, a Star Wars junkie and full time book nerd.
When not writing steamy, smutty novels, she can be found playing with her cute and cuddly Rottweiler, Rocky, or spoiling her eight adorable nieces and nephews rotten.
Unfortunately I gave up. And this RARELY happens. The heroine in this book is supposed to be this powerful litigator, a successful attorney in her way to make partner in the firm she works. And she's in her 30's. But she's not. I was really expecting for her to be smart. But she ended up in the same level of moron(ess) as many heroines. She believed in office gossip and never for one second, with all smartness and all, she took her time to investigate if the rumors were true. For a brilliant mind person, she was very judgmental and stupid. Sometimes she made me see her as a 12 year old girl about to give a boy a kiss but giving up seconds before the kiss happened because she got scared someone could catch them. She was always running away from the hero when they were about to kiss. That was so immature. And the sex scenes?? If there were any?? As far as I read the only sex scenes were one dream for her one from him. One masturbation from her and another for him. So nope. Not interested in finish a book where the mcs are in their 30s going 14.
Chloe and Max are lawyers at the same law firm. They get paired together on a case involving a catch phase and a woman who has an exercise empire.
The writing was great. I definitely still am a fan of how Lola Darling writes. But I had some issues with mainly Chloe that kept this from being an amazing read for me.
I loved Max. Max was amazing. Could not get enough of him. Wanted him to have his happy ending so bad. He could have been a little more forthcoming about a couple things though. Him not telling Chloe something simple but not vague didn't help the situation with Chloe's imagination running wild but...
Chloe on the other hand...ugh. She annoyed me a lot. First for about half the book she's constantly thinking that Max is a "manwhore", even when she has no actual evidence to back that up except he flirts and women want him, and she believes the many rumors floating around that he's slept with almost all the women in the office. He does flirt, maybe a bit much, but so what? It doesn't mean he's banging every woman on the copy machine. Then after
I think I really could have loved this, if Chloe hadn't been so judgmental and so quick to believe rumors.
Chloe and Max are both lawyers at the same firm. Her life is all about work and no play, and she finds herself on the fast track to becoming partner. Max is a good lawyer but also knows how to balance his busy work schedule with his personal life. He knows about his rep but things are not always as they seem. Max has more going than anyone realizes as he too, walks the route to becoming partner. Chloe wants nothing to do with Max, who she sees as a good lawyer but with a reputation for being with women at the office. So she is not happy when told they have no choice but to work together on a new case. Chloe is determined not to be the next notch on Max's office belt, but their unexpected chemistry has them both doing things they know they shouldn't. I loved the book. It was smart funny and a very hot read. The heat between the two characters was just great and I lost myself in this story straight away. I've found a new author to follow now as I really like Lola's style. It reminds me of Roxy Sloane style, not as much angst or conflict as you would find in one of her books but if you enjoy her books I recommend this one to you.
I rate this 9 out of 10 and 3 out of 3 flames for heat
He's been watching her in admiration she sees him as a manwhore. The sex scenes in this story are hot and not infrequent. I thought the storyline was weak it took a few weeks of dropping and coming back to get to the middle where it finally picked up pace. A couple of side stories, but it is a stand alone. No lead in to another story or the next in the series, because it's not a series.
This was okay. Typical super insecure woman. Atypical man insofar as he's not the slut the rumors portrayed him to be. No major outside conflicts which was nice. Standard but pleasant HEA
The office romance was a good read, enjoyed the back and forward with the two of them. In the end they were happy together and fighting about being together didn't even matter.
I've read variations of this plot enough times that this book didn't hold my attention. I was hoping for something different and that's my fault--not the author's.
