Finnegan Jamison has no ties to anyone outside of his adoptive parents. But when a lawyer representing his biological father calls to tell him of a strange inheritance, he meets someone who could change his entire view of relationships.
From the first moment he saw her, he knew she was different. She made him feel and think things he’d never before allowed himself to. Though terrified and completely inexperienced, he allowed himself to become close to her, to need her.
Through her, Finnnegan will learn to trust his gut, follow his heart, and love with every fiber of his being, even if it means ending up exactly where he started: completely alone.
"Being alone provides one with ample time to escape into whatever helped to clear the mind."
Completely Alone is about thirty-two year old Finn Jamison. When he was a baby, his biological mother left him on the doorstep of the Jamison family. Why she did this is a mistery to both Finn and his parents and too bad, but it stays a mistery after reading this book. Because of all the questions that stay with Finn, he has a case of abandonment issues. Which is why he focused on making money and making a succesful business for himself since he was young. He didn't do friends or relationships. That has resulted in him leading his own very succesful company COMPLETELY ALONE.
One day Finn receives a letter from an attorney telling him his biological father died and just before that happened he found out about Finn and put him in his will. Resulting in Finn acquiring his home and other belongings, such as very special artifacts. His biological father wanted him to lend the artifacts to one or more museums. He chooses one and comes into contact with twenty-six year old Sicily. And there is instalove, imediate strong feelings, which normally I don't like that much. Because that doesn't feel natural to me. It often makes a story feel a bit unrealistic. But Finn doesn't give in to his feelings, because of the whole fear of abandonment and the isolement he kept himself in because of this. And that was a huge plus for me.
Too bad for Finn he can't seem to stay away from Sicily. And it seems like she can't stay away from him either. So Finn chooses (with help from his therapist) to follow his feelings and just see where it goes. But is Sicily worth it or is it too good to be true and will he get what he fears the most? Will she leave him, just like his biological mom?
"I'd never seen eyes that color. Blatantly staring and not sure that I could do anything about it, I smiled tentatively."
I liked that this book involves a more mature character than I'm normally used to while reading NA-books. Most NA-books contain characters around my age, 20-25 years old. But Finn is 32. I like that this is kind of unique. Finn is also six years older than Sicily, but you totally don't notice this while reading. Sicily isn't immature at all and Finn doesn't act more mature than Sicily. That's also a plus!
I didn't fall in love with Finn, but I did like him. I could sympathize with him and his feelings. I think Rein did a good job of describing Finn, but could've maybe explored his biological mother a little bit more. Unfortunately I didn't like Sicily. I didn't feel a connection to her. I think she is nice and understanding to Finn, but I don't know her. The writer stayed superficial while describing her character. I don't know what she likes, or what her most irritating personality trait is, or what drives her. And where is her mother in the story? I think I missed that part. So I missed the character description with Sicily, but also with the other side characters: Sicily's father and brother, Finn's parents, and even with Evan, the creep from Sicily's job.
"'I'm not saying sex is everything, but the way that your brain works I think it says a lot about the influence she has on you. Remember, not everyone leaves.'"
I liked reading the story, it just reads away easily. No difficult language and the subject and story line encourage you to read. There is one down side of the writing style, the repetition of words in following sentences the writer sometimes uses. Repetition can be a powerful thing, but in this case, it's annoying and makes the story drag in those passages.
It's not the most impressive story I've read, but certain points, like Finn's fear of abandonment, give a little extra to the story and they catch your attention. I liked that most of the book is written from Finn's point of view, and I didn't understand why two chapters where Sicily's. It doesn't add to the story and in some way took a little bit of the tension away. There is one section in the book that's supposed to be thrilling, but because of Sicily's point of view chapter and the predictability it doesn't really work for me. But that was okay. Rein did leave me with a couple of questions at the end though.
"I do not understand all the feelings that I'd been having. I had only cared about pleasing my parents, but knowing that she was happy was important to me."
So... Completely Alone is a cute romantic story, I finished in one sitting (a couple of hours), about learning to overcome your fears and to trust others. It lacks a bit of character description and drags in some parts. But you fly through this book, due to the easy writing style of Rein Scott. I recommend this book to readers who love, not too deep, light romantic NA's.
"'Sex to me means you're serious about someone and if I am serious, then I'll be abandoned.'"

Finn is an ambition and successful business man, who has decided that relationships aren’t in his best interest because everyone leaves. He is tortured by feelings of abandonment thanks to a biological mother who dropped him off on someone else’s front steps. Then the unimaginable happens, Finn walks into a place and spots a women that has him stopping in his tracks. He has no idea how to react to her, no idea how to keep his emotions and thoughts in check. Its cupid’s arrow of love at first sight but isn’t recognizable to a man who has never so much as had the desire to kiss a women.
This women that has Finn in bewilderment in Sicily, a curator at a museum in Chicago, who is as sweet on Finn as he is on her. Finn is thrown into a situation to work with Sicily on a project, then he becomes her rescuer when her car breaks down. Finn instantly finds himself taking care of her, without her permission and fortunately, she takes it all pretty graciously. Then an unexpected trip takes Finn out of town and Finn finds himself in a situation that could leave him completely alone all over again.
I really enjoyed this story. It was told from Finn’s perspective from most of the book, which is definitely a twist from most of current romance novels being published. The one thing I struggled with, as you create an image of the characters in your mind, I never imagined Finn as this sexy muscular male until the bit about him working out in his home gym. My image that I had created was a more studious recluse type, I’m not really sure where I picked up that perception and it was definitely my problem, not the authors. As a whole, this story was a bit shorter compared to most of the books I read but I will be reading the rest of the series because of the characters and the authors writing style. It was a quick, enjoyable read that had twists I hadn’t expected. This book could be read without reading the next story as it does have an ending that doesn’t leave you on a cliff but my guess you will be at the same place I am….give me book 2.
Disclaimer: I received this book from the Author via the New Adult Book Club rea d and review programme
When I read the synopsis for this book on the current New Adult Book Club read and review monthly newsletter I knew I would more than likely enjoy it and I wasn't disappointed. This was a well written, well developed, easy to read page turner of a book.
I was able to connect with Fin the main character straight away because you saw things through his eyes immediately. The story also enabled me to gain an understanding of the complex feelings/needs that someone who has been adopted has. Fin was very career orientated and not the slightest bit interested in a relationship as a result of the fact that he was abandoned by his biological mother as a baby. Or at least he was until he met Sicily the museum curator, from the museum where he loaned some artefacts that he got in an inheritence from his biological father. However he didn't realise just how much he loved her until it was almost to late.
The slow burn of the relationship between Fin and Sicily was really endearing and made you realise the how important total trust and honesty is in a relationship.
I gave this book a five star rating as I loved it from beginning to end and would not hesitate to recommend it to others or buy it as a gift for anyone I think will enjoy it. Along with the fact that I know I will read it again and that it is a great start to what I am sure will be an amazing series which I will read in fact I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Omg where do I start If you want a book you can't put down the. You've picked the right read . This book is breath taking in some part , one of those books you kinda shout out loud . The story is very well written it flows so well you can't stop reading I want to tell you lots bug I don't want to spoil this fab book All I can say is when you want something grab it and fight hard for what you want ....... Happiness is what you make it . And don't let demons / or past issues wreck something that you need and crave sooooo much Fab read well done
The characters are sweet. Finn has abandonment issues and is scared of Sicily, but she helps him work through it. Her patience and understanding with him leads to develop their love. Nice story, can't wait for the next book.
I was given a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. That being said I would happily pay for a copy of this book as I found it to be a quick pleasant easy to read book.
The main focus of the book is Finn, a guy who is job orientated and is not interested in a relationship at all. Troubled by abandonment issues because of his parents Finn struggles to trust and deal with his feelings.
It is because of his issues that Finn struggles to understand his feelings towards Sicily. She is a museum curator and is working on a project with Finn. Sicily has feelings for Finn but can he realise what he has before it's too late?
This was a sweet tale of someone coming to terms with their own issues and trying to live their life. The story flows well and is very easy to read. I can't wait for more and will definitely be recommending this book to friends.
I like the story but I don't think that it compares to Reborn. I thought that the lead character was a little unbelievable. All of a sudden one person catches his eye when no one has ever done that before? Maybe at the age of twenty-two or possibly even twenty-five, but thirty-two?
I loved the characters and the story line of this book. What I had a hard time with was the idea of a 32 year old man never touching himself sexually.I don't know a twelve year old boy who hasn't explored his own body. Out side of that the book was well written with a good plot and a good amount of drama added. It is definitely worth a four star rating.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
It's a bit of a stretch that such an older man hasn't given sex a thought, but there's something about him that I loved. There's a sweet innocence about him that made me keep reading.
I've been looking at the reviews others have given this audiobook and I'm sorry to say I am not of the same mind as everyone else. This is one of a few books I have not been able to finish. I find the characters unbelievable. I understand the concept behind the plot and the characterization, but to me it felt like the main character, Finn, has been living in a bubble for his entire life - spoiler here - he's never had an erection or jerked himself off before? In 32 years of life? When men wake up in the morning with erections? I can understand him not understanding his feelings towards Cicily, but you would think that someone with abandonment issues would be using women and throwing them away; definitely not experiencing even the concept of sex for the first time. This point in the story is where I stopped. I could understand Finn not being sure about what his feelings for Cicily were, but I just don't find him believable.
When I read the premise of this story I jumped at it, imagining a strong independent male and a sassy female. However, the story wasn’t quite what I expected.
If you’re looking for a strong alpha male, then this book really isn’t for you! I found it very hard to relate to Finn (sorry to sound mean but he was sort of girly) and at some points very unrealistic
There are some very sweet and romantic moments and by the end I did like Finn and Sicily, the book itself seem to have potential.
But if I’m 100% honest, it’s not a terrible book, it just really wasn’t for me, the ending felt unfinished and the book itself seems very short.

I received Completely Alone from the author for an honest review.
The story was okay but the characters were not deep enough to like. It was a little too macho for my taste and I believe a lot of my feeling of distance were because of the radio announcer voice of the reader. I hope that the next book delves a little deeper into who these characters are and why. Could help with the connection between the listener and the characters.
