What happened three years ago?

Dylan Sterling is an anomaly who dreams of events before they happen. But over the years, this peculiar gift has transformed into a curse. A dark curse in the form of a strange man who haunts him. Hunts him. Kills him.

But unlike other people, even once Dylan has awakened from a nightmare, the agony of torture clings to his skin. The horror of his own brutal murder continues to resonate with him. Pain, it seems, has long become the status quo. That is until a recurring nightmare reveals a clue that might help him unveil the truth of his ‘condition’.

The race against time has begun, and with each passing day, the boundaries between dream and reality are becoming more and more muddled. And unless he can solve this mystery, he’ll stand to lose even more than he thought possible.

***I received a copy of the ebook by the author in exchange for an honest review. ***

The Harbinger is a novel from the series The Fray Theory and tells the events that took place three years before Resonance, first book of this series. It’s a novel that revolves around the figure of Dylan, but at the same time traces a profile of the other characters close to him and deepens their ties: the feelings for Neve, the friendship with Roman, but also the relationship with his father, not always easy.

This chapter provides information that was missing in the previous one, answering pending questions, but also providing new insights upon which to base future plots. The paranormal events that accompany Dylan from childhood, are the starting point for a compelling storyline.

The style is pleasant, the fast pace and the various twists keep the reader stuck to the pages. I noticed an accurate description of the characters, each with a well-defined personality, but also a remarkable ability to merge scientific theories with the current narrative, without getting lost in concepts that are difficult to absorb.

If I was hooked by the first book, this aroused my curiosity even more. I can't wait to read the next one.
In the end, once again the cover is a truly remarkable work.

You know what I love about Keramati's style? It's just so pretty! And I don't mean that in a pretentious, flowery sort of way. I mean it in the sense that it's so rich, so filled with passion and poise that it draws you so fully into the reading experience that for a time you forget you're actually reading a book- you feel as if you are a part of the story, that you are experiencing the events along with the characters. Or, in the case of The Harbinger, the character of Dylan in particular.

Now, right off I have to say, out of the three main characters introduced to us in The Fray Theory: Resonance, Dylan wasn't at the top of my favourite's list. And that's not because I didn't like him, it was because I connected so much more with Neve and Romer at the time. So when I found out that this first novella would be about Dylan, I was actually quite excited, because I *want* to know so much more about him.

(Without spoiling things, there was something mentioned in book one that had me ~SO CURIOUS about Dylan and his motivations, and I was just dying to find out the answers. And this book? It answers them! OMG DOES IT ANSWER THEM! And in ways I wasn't expecting ♡)

The premise for this novel is based on Dylan trying to solve the mystery that is his dreams, his premonitions, and it was fascinating seeing the progression. I loved that it started with Dylan as a small child, too scared to get on a plane to Disney World because he had a dream the plane would crash. Seeing his relationship with his dad at that age too was just so heartwrenchingly beautiful, especially with how it changes over the years to what we initially saw in The Fray Theory.

Watching Dylan trying to get his head around the dreams, his anger and frustration at not being able to find the patterns and then... when things start to come together!! OH MY WORD, YOU GUYS! I found myself getting SO EXCITED because I was starting to understand the ~things at the same time Dylan was and it was so eye-opening that I felt giddy with the knowledge of it.

This story doesn't explain ~everything, of course, and I wouldn't have wanted it to. But it does give you a much better understanding of Dylan and who he is as a character and made me even more excited for the future of this series!!

As always, once I started reading I could not put this one down! ...and it's even better the second time around! ;)

I was fortunate enough that the author I love let me read the ARC ... & IT SO AMAZING..! Thank you so much!!
This is a novella for the series of The Fray Theory & Its about Dylan , what happened to him, why he disappeared & what his "powers" are & Its his story & how he fits into the events of The Fray Theory..

In Resonance, we dont see much of Dylan , so I was so really excited for this novella & after reading it I just want to wrap Dylan in a blanket & protect him at all cost..

Dreaming is how the mind gets to act on socially unacceptable desires.

So , in this premise Dylan is trying to solve the premonitions he keep dreaming about, they start when he was a small child when he refuses to take a plane which he believed would crash & later we read

"Further ahead in the living room, his dad’s back is silhouetted against their giant TV. Against the flame-engulfed body of a wrecked airplane.

Dylan’s heart skips a beat at the sight of the Flight Number. Flight 734. Their flight. The one they were supposed to take today."

Talk about intense.
He keeps trying to find the connections between his dreams, trying to convince his friend, & Alex & his father that what he dreams, they are infact premonitions & are all connected & Wow the moment he figures it out.. *shivers*

Also, we get to read about the relationship he has with Romer & Neve, how precious they are to him & its beautiful.

The author writing style is so beautiful, you cannot stop reading, it flows like a beautiful river & descends into a mighty waterfall..!
& I did I say enough how much I love the plot & psychological references she adds?

"‘Somatization’, he remembers in Alex’s voice as he crosses to the blank wall by the door, ‘the expression of psychological phenomena as physical symptoms’."

"Death Drive: the instinct towards self-sabotage and destruction. It’s that feeling you get staring over the edge of a cliff. It’s that rush you feel when you find yourself leaning forward, driven by a dark, yet thrilling urge to move a bit too close to the edge."

I cannot wait for the next Book...

From victim, to victor.

From flight, to fight."

full review on my blog: http://booksonal.blogspot.fi/2017/04/...

Those who follow my blog or Instagram (@booksonal) know that I haven't been able to read since I'm in the middle of my finals. So you might be wondering what I'm doing here updating a review...

Well the thing is I got this novella as an ARC from the author, for an honest review (thank you for that!) and having read The Fray Theory (my review: http://booksonal.blogspot.fi/2016/06/...)
and having loved it, I couldn't resist starting The Harbringer! I told myself I'd read 1 chapter, but you can all guess how that went. So here I am, having read 8, I decided to write an update and continue to read snippets throughout my studying.

+the writing is just so rich and beautiful I just want to get immersed in this novella and fly through! On the other hand as I just stated - it's a novella, and all the book lovers here know that they end so quickly and you can't do anything but wait for more!

+one of the things I loved book one for, was the differentness that it is as a story. With science and intriguing pieces that we don't fully understand yet, it makes me so excited thinking about when everything will click and as readers we'll be amazed at all the thought that was put into it

+contrary to lots of YA books, I feel that this won't fall into common tropes but will continue to bring new aspects throughout the series and I can honestly say that I'm extremely interested to see where it will go!

+the one thing that I hoped to see in the continuations for The Fray Theory, was character development. And I can tell you that the first chapter of the Harbringer assured me that that would most definitely be the case

Read on lovelies,
Sally

Once again I am amazed by this author's exquisite writing style and skills. Not only does she write exceptionally well she is incredible at writing a story that is impossible to put down, intelligently told with a lot of little details that make the plot exciting and original. I can't wait to see how all these details come together as the series progresses. I love that when I pick up one of her books I get totally immersed in the story. She also excels at writing these wonderful, complex yet easy to relate to characters and in this novella we get to know a lot more about Dylan and what it is like to be him. I was such a big fan of both Dylan and Romer after the first book and my heart just melted a little bit more for Dylan after getting to know him better in this story. Even though this is a novella it felt like a complete story that only added to the first book in this series. The pacing was great and at the end some parts had me holding my breath with anxiety (in the best of ways!) It has also left me dying for book # 2 to be released. If you haven't already read "The Fray Theory" you are really missing out. It is very rare to find a book in the Sci Fi/Fantasy genre that offers something that is very unique and interesting which is also well written. It has incredible characters and once you start reading you won't want to stop. And now here is a Novella which was just as unputdownable and good as the first book!
Highly, Highly recommended!!

*Thank you to the author for the ARC copy given in exchange for an honest review*

Once again, it was a pleasure to read something by Nelou Keramati.
Her writing style is so beautiful and her characters so well-described.
It was really interesting to see what was Dylan's life before the events of the first book.
I am excited for book 2 but I am wondering : this novella being a 1.1 instead of what is usually called 1.5, does it mean we are going to get other novellas ? I do not know if what I am saying makes sense hihi

Please, read this series !!

Ps : the cover is also really BEAUTIFUL as always

The Harbinger - a novella to The Fray Theory - was just amazing! Nelou Keramati has done it again with weaving action into her amazing style of writing! We get a closer look into Dylan’s life as he figures out his special abilities and we also get to know more about him. His relationship with Neve is also portrayed and is just adorable! Dylan’s friendship with Romer is of course also included and just hilarious! Dylan’s relationship with his dad is very complicated but I’m glad to know it wasn’t always. There were some defining moments and also some hilarious moments in The Harbinger. Fans of The Fray Theory should definitely read The Harbinger and if you haven’t already read The Fray Theory, you really should because it will definitely be worth your time and you will not be disappointed!

Here are some of my favorite quotes from The Harbinger!

“From victim to victor, from flight to fight.”

“A rose without thorns.”

Thank you Nelou Keramati for sending me an eARC.

I received a copy of this book in PDF form in exchange for review.

The Harbinger by Nelou Keramati is the first novella of the Fray Theory series. This novella lets readers learn more about what happened to Dylan leading up to the events of The Fray Theory's first novel Resonance. I really enjoyed seeing the growth of Dylan's character and his ability from a young child to the present day. I look forward to the next novel, and the possiblity of more novellas in this series.

although you can technically read this story without reading the first book in this series, I highly recommend you to read them in order :) it's definitely better to have at least some background as to what is happening here :) and since this is another installment in an on-going series I won't spoil you anything in case you still haven't picked it up... in which case, go remedy that situation right away, because it's a fantastic series :) and it definitely doesn't hurt that the author is an absolute sweetheart :)

So let me start by saying a little bit more about our main character and this series :) we meet Dylan as a truly adorable little kid, hiding on the airport from everyone... little does he know, his world is about to change... because Dylan's been having dreams... nightmares, really... and when one of them comes true, his father will start looking at him very differently... the majority of the book takes place in the present... although all events in this novella are actually happening before the start of book #1... I know what you're thinking... if it takes place earlier why can't I read it first... :) but again, I highly recommend you starting with a full lenght book... even if you don't remember all the details, like me... :) hey, I read it quite a few months ago and there were a lot of books in between ;) even little knowledge will help you understand what is happening here much better :) there's not much more I can tell you guys without spoiling some big things, so I will only add that this novella shows us what exactly happened before Dylan disappeared without a word for a few years... *sighs*

What I can and will say repeatedly is how much I adore Nelou's writing style... *sighs dreamily* it's truly magical... not only does she mesmerizes you with how wonderfully she creates stories, she also effortlessly adds science into the mix :) it's all very thought out and you can see that she knows exactly where she's going with everything :) I know that I haven't really gave you that much details about the actual plot, but that's because I think it's soooo much better to go into the book with an open mind and to not know what's gonna happen next :) the same goes with this novella... I wasn't sure what to expect, and again I was blown away by how amazing this story was... I wasn't the biggest fan of Dylan before, but now that I know so much more about him, my opinion about him definitely changed... I loved seeing his friendship with Romer and his relationship with Neve before everything got complicated... now I am even more curious than I was before about another installment :) I highly recommend you guys this novella and this sereis in general :) if you are looking for a unique story with paranormal vibes and absolutely phenomenal writing style... look no further and check this out :)

XOXO

I just wanna say thank you to Nelou, the author, for giving me a copy of this novella. This was supposed to be an ARC but then… the explanation is in the middle of the review. XD Anyway, this review is not biased in any way.

Alright, let’s start this review on this book!

Bes, can I just say how amazing of an author Nelou is? Her books are so amazing! I’ve said this before in her other book and I will say it again in this one; I’ve never read a book like this before!

Her books have the most unique stories, plot, and concept. Her books have that kind of writing that not just connect to the readers but also make you learn something, like, literally you can learn something from her books. It’s really amazing how her degree connected to her books.

This book doesn’t have the same amount of action and mystery and discovery than the Fray Theory because it is only a novella. However, if you’ve read the first book this novella is a huge help in understanding some of the parts in the Fray Theory.

Unlike any other books I’ve read, this one needs to be read in straight full attention. It doesn’t require a critical analysis but it requires you to pay full attention because, bes, even the littlest things in here matters. If you did not understand the first chapters, you will not understand the whole story at all. But if you actually understood the whole story, my, you will be blown away.

I was so excited when Neve gave me the ARC of The Harbinger. I couldn’t wait to read it immediately. However, the timing was so bad that when I received the copy, I was so busy with school because it was around mid terms and then I was so distracted by other things that I don’t want to read this one for I don’t want to read it with divided attention. Like I said, this one needs to be read straight and with full attention. So it took me just around this time to read and finish it. And bes, I was glad that I waited this long to read it because it was worth it.

While reading The Fray Theory, I was having mixed feelings towards Dylan. I was leaning more on not liking him all throughout the book. But then when I read this one, I understood why he is the way he is. I finally understood his side. But I am still Team Romer! Haha!! I like Dylan now but Romer will always be my bae. XD

And there’s Neve. Bes, she matured big time in The Fray Theory because during The Harbinger she’s all cute and bubbly. Like during those days in The Harbinger, she’s all smiles and laughter and just simply enjoying life with Dylan and other things. But during The Fray Theory, three years after The Harbinger, she’s different. She’s matured a lot and she became badass after three years!!! Haha!

Let’s go to the narration. I do not have any problems with the narration. It’s in third person narration and concentrates on Dylan’s point of view. It’s easy to understand. :D

To wrap this up, this book is really good. But you need to read the Fray Theory if you’re gonna read this. You could read this first before reading the first book or read them in vice versa. That’s up to you. But I promise you, if you read this one, prepare your mind to be blown –because it will. That’s how amazing this series is. I’m not exaggerating. I thought the people who reviewed this book before were exaggerating too but no they are not. Read this and then find it out yourself.

I can’t wait to read the next book of this series! I’m just so excited!

Oh wow.... wow.wow.wow.

I am actually a huge fan of Nelou Keramatie books... I was lucky enough to get my hands on an ARC copy of the Fray Theory... Which I loved! And Nelou Keramatie has been lovely enough to let me have an ARC of the Harbinger. Nelou's writing style is superb, Her imagination, unlike any other authors I have come across...
This story just flew by much too fast, I want so much more of Dylan! But everything rolled into one made this book so good, and makes you flip through those pages much to fast!

The Harbinger is a small novella based on Dylan. Dylan is one of your main characters from book #1... Now he wasn't my favorite, I don't actually know why I felt like that towards him, I just seemed to like Romer and Neve better... But in any case, this Novella has rid me of my aversion towards Dylan and I Love him! It has completely changed my view of his character and I'm so pleased Nelou decided to share with us Dylan's private story.

Dylan is caught in the despair of his dreams... Dreams that are more of a premonition..... Dreams that come true... These premonitions started when he was a small child. Dylan finally finds a pattern in his dream/premonitions but his closest family friend nor his father believes him.

Nelou Keramatie provides you with a gripping read, full bodied with sophistication! She is a superb writer and I can not recommend her books enough. The Fray Theory and The Harbinger are both MUST READS!

I just love Nelou’s style and imagination, and the Harbinger was a lovely addition to The Fray Theory series.
We didn’t get to see much of Dylan in Resonance (he was still my favourite though) but The Harbinger is his story and details his life and the events leading up to the first book. It was brilliant getting to know more about him and seeing just how much he cared for both Neve and Romer – it’s all left me very excited to see what’s next for this series!

Thanks so much for an ARC! The Fray Theory was love at the first page and again Nelou Keramati made me fall in love with her writing all over again. I love The Harbringer. It draws you in as soon as you start reading and is shrouded with this mysterious aura that keeps you going. It's a quick read focusing on Dylan before the events that lead up to the first book in The Fray Theory. I actually liked Dylan in the first book and this novella made me like him more. Now I want to read The Fray Theory all over again. I can't wait for more!

This novella will definitely thrill, attract your attention and keeps you is suspense state until the very last page and last sentence. Having started to read it I immediately recognized this distinctive and already my favourite way of writing of the author Nelou Keramati - it's soft and natural. But at the same time it doesn't prevent to touch upon very serious and essential for understanding of life topics, such as the background of a childhood of Dylan Sterling, irreplaceable importance and lack of motherhood for a child as well as for an adult already, roots and causes of psychological trauma stemming from some bygone tragedy in the past or unresolved questiuons of the present, as well as topics of a true love, friendship and simple human contact, dignity and support beyond blood relation. Altogether all these things make sense of how thoughts and deeds influence the future. Sometimes we don't even suspect how our subconscious tries to communicate to us and give usa warning through our dreams, but at most cases we either ignore or underestimate the power an the role of such notices of subliminal consciousness.
The theories of the science correlates to the practice of the psycology, as well as the reality deeply correlates to the fantasy on the urban background of modern Vancouver vicinity so that a reader gets more acquainted with the splendid places of interest of the city.
I consider the powerful place in this novella is dedicated to the symbolism even in our everyday ordinary life. And it's a real gift when you're spontaneously come upon the key to all of your fears and suspicions, which only a pure human mind can generate.
This novella about Dylan is like a piece of a rich mosaic, which constitutes the main novel - The Fray Theory: Resonance.
So I'm waiting for the following novellas of Nelou Keramati with a candid anticipation. I expect each of them to be the unique revelation of a trigonal literary canvas! :)

This book was PHENOMENAL! I was expecting a short story about what happened to Dylan three years ago, and that's it, but it totally blew my mind! I cannot believe the author introduced another scientific theory in this book... I thought because this story happened before Resonance that there would be no (or at least less) interesting 'paranormal' happenings, but boy, was I dead wrong! I was biting my nails against the ticking clock, and I kept thinking 'Oh, I totally know where this is going, because I read the first novel after all', but nope. Wrong. My guesses were totally off, and oh my god can we please talk about Marcus Holt!?? I always loved the guy, but I never thought I could love him even more. Keramati really knows how to develop her characters. I got to see so many different sides to so many of the characters, and I was like, man, every single one can be the lead in the story!

Neve and Dylan were SO ADORABLE! I now totally get why she was so in love with him. I never thought I would find Dylan funnier than Romer, but uh... yeah. That kinda happened. He was so cute with Romer's mom, honestly one of my favorite chapters. And he was so proactive, and made my understand so much more about him and why he is the way he is.

If you're worried that this story is only about Dylan, think again. There's a lot of Romer, Neve, Holt, Galen (pretty much the whole cast), and it kind of feels like a short novel. I know it's a novella, but it doesn't feel vestigial. Like not at all like an add-on. I highly recommend you reading it. It's such a riveting story... I can't tell about the 'scientific theories' in this one without spoiling it, but I actually wound up looking them up cause I found them so fascinating!

Okay. God, I could talk about this forever. All I can say is, READ IT!
Also, anyone else think there's way more to the Reaper than we've been let on??

Whoa... So I totally thought this was going to be a small little addition to the main story. I wasn't expecting it to be supernatural like Resonance because this story was supposed to capture what happened to Dylan three years ago, why he vanished, etc., but oh my god there was SO MUCH MORE than I expected! The Fibonacci Sequence just blew my mind... I can't believe how skilled the author is at sewing science with fiction! It's all real stuff that she applies to her stories, but with a really unique twist! I mean, when was the last time you actually wondered if science fiction could be real? Not like, 1000 years into the future, but that it's RIGHT NOW actually real!??? I loved this. I can't believe that Dylan's now right on par with Romer for me. Omg they're both so hot, and I love their friendship! I NEED MORE!

The Harbinger written by Nelou Keramti is another intriguing book. It is a different point of view to her other book, the Fray Theory. It is neat reading this book since it gives you a completely different angle and a lot of information you had no access to.

The pace again is right on and not once did I feel like the story was dragging on nor did I feel rushed, both can be rather annoying and it is a fine balance to achieve. The plot is unique and in this book you get new glimpses into the greater picture, which makes reading is so well worth it.

The plot has plenty of twists that nicely develop in this book. Dylan has quite the dilemma on his hands, and it finally all makes so much sense. So reading the other book first really came in handy. This book really made me appreciate Dylan so much more and also showed why I liked the other characters in the first place.

I will definitely continue reading this series in the future since I need to know what will happen next.

I have received this book from the author for an honest review.

Synopsis :

~What happened three years ago?~

Review :

The next book of The Fray Theory series by Nelou Keramati, The Harbinger is indeed well written, which is very much expected from such a talented author. I had read the book a week or two back but had been unable to post a review. Well, the reason being, I have a huge to-be-reviewed list and I am confused most of the times which book's review to post first. (*Laughing like a nervous wreck)

Before I present any opinion on this book, I would request every viewer of this post to go back to look into my review of The Resonance, first book of this series. It is very essential to know about the first book before reading the opinion of the second.

Now, starting with this book, the author never fails to prove how fascinating her writing is. The theories she puts forward, the incidents she arranges, the characters she brings out are beautiful and attention grabbing. This book, to be put into simple words, is a flashback to the past lives and what had happened in the first book.

As found in the previous book, Dylan, his best friend, Romer and his girlfriend, Neve are stuck in a life and death situation. All through the book, they struggle through threats and disasters building up their long broken bond. But what caused this situations? Why had their bond been broken? What was the beginning?

This book answers it all. It takes back to the time when Dylan was a child, when the incidents and nightmares began. Though the book, Dylan travels from childhood to adulthood, his closest people being Romer and Neve always. But a situation arises that forces him to leave his two favourite people and go into hiding. Neve feels betrayed and hurt.

I would say, I had a tough time trying to read the book at some points because it was making me confused. The continuous alteration of time and place made it sometimes hard to locate the story's current situation. Though I loved the book, the first book was far more interesting, if you ask me. Maybe I have had a huge gap between reading the two books. I suggest you all to read the two books simultaneously without a large gap. That way it will help one to complete understand the story and it will turn out to be far more interesting and addictive.

Thanks to the lovely author for sending me the book for review. You are always amazing and I am ready to take in more of the trio.
