But when the full moon lights up her corner of the desert, mysterious stranger Louis isn't the only one losing control.
A vampire stealing her blood supplies? Dr Isabel should kick his ass. Only Louis is so freaking hot, he makes her heart skip a beat. And the more she gets to know the dark, brooding stranger, the more she finds herself.... kinda liking him. That wasn't supposed to happen. Vampires and shifters are enemies... aren't they?
When Louis shows up to help out at her field hospital, Isabel finds herself questioning everything. She's sure Louis must have cast some vampire magic on her. Surely she couldn't really be falling for the ice cold guy in black? And what are his true motives anyway?
As the full moon approaches, desperate Isabel hunts for an old magic spell to help her take back control of her heart. But there are more surprises in store--and now everyone is in danger.
Can Louis prove himself to her before it's too late?
THE NIGHT SHIFT is a tiger shifter and vampire paranormal romance story with steamy love scenes, no cheating, a twist you won't see coming, and a guaranteed HEA.
Suki Selborne is a USA Today bestselling author writing paranormal, sci-fi and fantasy romance. She loves reading stories full of magic, drama, suspense, action and fun, so those are the kind she writes, too. Suki lives with her husband, kids, and way too many books, in London, England.
A short read with likable characters which, because of an interesting twist in vampire/shifters lore, could have been developed in to the full-length story.
Read in the SHIFTERS IN THE SHADOWS anthology. This was a fairly good read but I was a bit wary of Isabel as she straight away came across as a jump to conclusions person who does not listen to the other side of a story. It was going along nicely with them spending time together and slowly falling for the other. Then Isabel was rotten to Louis after jumping to the wrong conclusion when he was holding the dying woman. How she could treat him like that when he had proven his willpower over his vampire ways over and over again and she never apologised for treating him falsely. An apology goes a long way. I have not read any other books related to this series so it may be past events that shape Isabel into the woman we met today. I liked Louis very much and was just a bit sad he was not happy being a vamp but it all turned out well for him. But I felt sorry for Louis being saddled with a judgemental, tiger shifters are superior woman/mate.
Just finished the Night Shift and what a shift that was. Our heroine is stationed in a war torn country patching up any and all wounded as a shifter doctor, she interrupts our hero, a vampire, drinking her blood supplies. After some serious words and a shift to remember, she finds out he doesn't want to be a vampire anymore. The rest is just plain fun and some serious thoughts of MATE! Enjoyed this book.
I was given an advanced copy of book and I have chosen to review it. That being said let's get on with the review.
Isobel Prowse, tiger shifter and doctor with Shifter Medics International is stationed 8n a war zone for six months. She left Denver Colorado in hopes that her stalker, werewolf Milo Craven, would forget his idea that they are "fated mates." The idea was good but her stalker followed her.
Duke Louis de l'Anceny of Versailles is a vampire and has been since the Revolutionary War. He's different from most vampires, he doesn't like to kill, that's why he's in a war zone, to feed off the dying.
Izzy finds him in the supply tent drinking blood from the medical supply. He tries to explain what he's doing but she won't listen to him, her opinion of vampires is pretty low, she calls him "a blood sucking fiend". When her human nurse is hurt in a bomb blast Louis volunteers to help her in the hospital. She starts to warm up to him and when he gets caught in her room they have to pretend he's her fiance to stay out of trouble.
Can a vampire and a tiger shifter be "fated mates?" Can Izzy convince Louis to go home with her or will she lose the only man she's ever wanted to keep? Mix a hot sexy vampire, a stalkng werewolf and a tiger shifter together and you get a really good, fast paced, well written paranormal romance that I couldn't put down.
Independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock. 5 pounding hearts.
Isabel is a tiger shifter and a surgeon. She works for Shifter Medics International and is currently on assignment in a war zone. Her life is not going the way she planned. She's recently divorced and has a stalker wolf shifter that won't take no for an answer. When she catches a vampire drinking her much needed bags of blood, she loses it. She's had enough and let's her tiger out.
Louis is a vampire with a soul. He's lived for centuries. After a witch returned his soul, he no longer wanted to feed from humans. He exist night to night by feeding off dying victims of a senseless war. Louis never thought he would find love again. That is until he met sexy Isabel. Can old magic help Isabel turn him, or will he be forced to watch his mate walk out of his life.
I was given this ARC and chose to review it. I've read several of Ms. Selborne's books and I've enjoyed them all. I think she did a great job writing her first vampire story.
Dr. Isabel, tiger shifter is working for Shifter Medics International at the frontline. She is pestered by Milo, a werewolf who wants her to be his mate. She ends up enamored with Louis, a vampire. She knows vampires are “bad”, and suspects her attraction is him compelling her – but the attraction is real. You only get a 6-month tour, and a vampire doesn’t have travel papers – and can’t be exposed to sunlight. Can these two solidify their relationship and last past her tour of duty? Amazingly scintillating story amidst the issues of war.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
3.5 stars. There is hot and steamy sex so definitely 18+. Night Shift is about Isabel who is a Doctor and tiger shifter and Louis who is a vampire. The book blurb describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that information here. This is a quick read. It is a standalone with no cliffhanger and has an HEA.
This story is also included in the Shifters and Shadows set. If you love shifters, this is a set of stories you have to get! Add in some vampires, dragons, and other supernatural creatures and it gets even better. Each story is a standalone.
I received a copy of the box set and chose to write a review for this book.
