A big believer in happily ever afters, Jen Doyle decided it was high time she started creating some. Jen is a member of the Romance Writers of America, as well as a member of the New England Chapter, New Jersey Romance Writers and Music City Romance Writer chapters of RWA. She is represented by Sarah E. Younger of the Nancy Yost Literary Agency.
She has an M.S. in Library and Information Science and, in addition to her work as a librarian, has worked as a conference and events planner as well as a Communications and Enrollment administrator in both preschool and higher education environments (although some might say that there is very little difference between the two; Jen has no comment regarding whether she is one of the "some").
Her first book, CALLING IT, was published by Carina Press in April 2016. It was the winner of The Beacon, the Finish the Damn Book, and the Melody of Love 2014 contests in the Contemporary Romance category, and was also the Contemporary Romance winner as well as the Grand Prize Winner of the 2014 Gateway to the Best contest. Book #2, CALLED UP, will be published on August 29, 2016.
Bobby and Jayne have lost so much and being together hurts very much, which is why Jayne is keeping her distance. They've been together for a long time and because she's the love of his life Bobby can't let her go without a fight. Will he be able to win back the heart of the woman he's adored for as long as he can remember?
Last Call is a beautiful moving story. I could easily feel the grief and the despair Bobby and Jayne have to deal with. Jen Doyle doesn't need many words to write a deep story. I loved the emphatic and honest way she describes the feelings of her main characters. I hoped that Bobby's love for Jayne would bring her back to him. Her feelings are unpredictable and it was interesting to find out what she would decide. It all comes together in a beautiful way and the ending made me tear up.
Jen Doyle has put so much emotion into Last Call and that makes it really impressive. I like the way she makes sure her readers get to know her characters through and through and she makes it possible to see what's inside their hearts. Last Call is a short story, but it is a story that will stay with me for a long time.
This really quick novella of Bobby & Jayne's story was really wonderful. The loss that they dealt with & the miscommunication that has torn them apart was heartbreaking. The fact that Bobby finally gave up after 15yrs of loving Jayne was heartbreaking. There was so much feeling packed into such a short story. I enjoy this series & this story has added to its potential to become a favourite of mine.
This is a short story about a couple from the same town the other books in the series are set in, Inspiration, Iowa. This story would standalone without reading the prior books in the series and there is no baseball. The story is very relatable and somewhat sad. I prefer longer stories that allow for more character background, however this one is well put together for being so short.
It's not a bad novella... Even though is short you still get to know a bit who re Jayne and Bobby, their problems and their love... But it doesn't do anything for me.... Even with decke and the bar mention it has nothing to do with the other books other than the 2 people were from inspiration....
