The daughter of a renown media mogul, Poppy Koslowski has her life turned upside down overnight when her father is indicted for a massive fraud that leads to the loss of her family’s fortune. In the wake of the scandal, Poppy moves to Paris at the behest of her aunt, the Countess Domel, who, unbeknownst to Poppy, intends to find a wealthy husband for her niece in order to ensure her future. Poppy, however, has her own dreams of finishing school and realizing her goal of becoming an award-winning journalist. When she meets Henri Olin, the passionate and seductive illegitimate son of one of France’s most powerful politicians, his political and social ideology introduces Poppy to a world very different from her own. Yet, Poppy ultimately learns that everything comes at a price, even love. After suffering a devastating loss, Poppy finds herself alone and virtually penniless, and is forced to make her way back to America to piece together the remnants of her life in New York City. There, she rediscovers her passion once again, only to be confronted with yet another life choice, one that will forever shape her destiny.
Vivian Winslow is the pen name for Elizabeth A. Hayes. Elizabeth was born and raised in San Diego, California but has spent most of her adult life as the consummate wanderer. She received a B.A. in European History from the University of Chicago and a Master’s Degree in French Studies from New York University. After eleven moves across four continents over a span of seventeen years, her journey has recently brought her back to London. The Gilded Flower Trilogies and Wildflowers Series are inspired by a desire to break the mold within the Romance genre that often portrays women as weak and subservient. Believing that stories have the power to influence attitudes and shift perspectives, Elizabeth writes in order to challenge this paradigm. Her hope is to elevate readers’ understanding of sex, love and the relationships people have with each other and themselves so that they may embrace one another from a place of peace and wholeness. In addition to writing, Elizabeth is a spiritual teacher and adviser with clients all over the world. When she isn’t running around with her kids, you’ll most likely find her in the park meditating or dreaming up new love stories.
After Poppy Koslowski's father was found to be in trouble with the law, her mother acted swiftly and selfishly to end the marriage and begin anew. Poppy knows she doesn't want a life like that, she wants more. Trying to find her own way she can't help be guarded with the influence her Aunt is trying to push towards her and she meets Henri Olin. However, her Aunts best laid plan may not be te best in Poppy's interest. Poppy finds that she has a to make some difficult decisions about her future and in doing so Poppy finds herself.
This was intense and quite different than what I expected. A tearjerker for sure. I thought Poppy was a force to be reckoned with, she could have easily been broken and in a way she still is but she is also stronger by the end of the story. Inspirational, look forward to the next book.
With «Wild Poppy », Vivian Winslow has written a true page-turner. It kept me glued to my kindle from start to finish! The story of Poppy Kent was riveting, she is a very strong character. Life threw her some punches, and she never backed down. I didn’t agree with some of her choices, but I loved that she had the determination and courage to turn her life around and move forward despite the obstacles and deception. This story is moving fast, from Chicago to Paris and New-York.
When Poppy’s father is charged with stealing from his shareholders, she realizes her entire childhood has been a lie. She wants to be reassured that even if her family has lost its wealth and social status, love hasn’t left her life. Unfortunately, her mother values money and social standing more than emotional connection. While her father is serving a prison sentence for defrauding his investors, her mother remarries and Poppy moves to Paris, to live with her aunt.
Her aunt wants her to land a wealthy husband and be secure financially. She introduces Poppy to Henri Olin, the heir to an aristocratic family with political connections. Poppy is mesmerized by this charming, smooth-talking stranger. Henri is reckless, impulsive. They both have great ideals and want to change the world together. Although Henri wants Poppy to be happy, he abandons her when she needs him most.
Poppy has no other choice than to move back to the U.S. and find a job in New-York, hoping to make a fresh start. She doesn’t believe there is room for anything but sadness and misery in her life, though, until she meets Gustavo de Lina, a facetious, honest, likeable Brazilian hottie. I loved their dynamics and the way their relationship shifted from friendship to courtship. Gustavo lives in the present and is precisely the person Poppy needed to move on and let go of the past. She can finally be her own person and live the life she wants.
This book is the fourth installment in the Wildflowers series. You do not have to read the previous books in the series to enjoy this one. This story ends on a mild cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to read more about Poppy and Gustavo’s story.
I received a copy of this book from the author and Xpresso Book Tours.
This was most certainly a read that I enjoyed. I was excited to get in on this one from just reading the blurb. I found my first read with Vivian Winslow to be one that I will remember. I loved following Poppy around on her adventures and exploits. Watching her adult life unfold before me. There was heartbreak, pain, sorrow, joy, excitement, and real life happening to her. We watch Poppy fall in love. This one was all about Poppy. I want more of the Wildflower girls.
Though this book number #4 in the Wild Flowers series, this is the first one that I have read. It easily can be read as a standalone which was a pleasant surprise.
My first impression of Vivan Winslow's novel, is that the tone and style reminded me of Danielle Steele or VC Andrews. High praise indeed, as in my humble opinion those are some big shoes. Particularly VC Andrews, whom I adored, and Vivan can definitely take a stroll in those shoes.
I enjoyed the story and was fond of the characters. Especially Gustavo and Norah. Both powerful personalities, added a nice contradictory layer to Poppy's story. I liked Poppy well enough but after reading a sneak peek of book #5, I was a little disappointed at her evolution as a person.
There are some nice twists to the plot and plenty of passionate and steamy sex scenes to keep things interesting. Wild Poppy is well written and though this isn't a genre I venture into often, I think I will go back and read the rest of the series. I definitely need to know what happens in the next installment.
I would happily recommend Wild Poppy to people who like their romance novels a little complicated but very sexy.
Book 4 of the Wildflower series is the book I've been waiting for! After glimpses of Poppy's life, we are finally getting her story! Vivian did not disappoint with this one! Poppy has seen it all and is a force to be reckoned with! I love nothing more than a strong female character who isn't afraid to grab life by the balls and own it. Great story!!
****ARC WAS PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW****
Writing: Good Violence: None Sex: Explicit Narration: 3rd Person
What a heartbreaking, fantastic tale! Wild Poppy takes you on a wild ride with a wild girl, I could hardly keep up with her. She has some very life altering troubles, the fact that at the end of the day she doesn’t give up, speaks volumes of this girls character. I love stories where the leading girl doesn’t just lay down and give up. I was silently cheering for her from chapter one. And then just as I was getting comfortable in the story, the author went and flipped the script. I never knew what was coming next and I loved it! Can’t wait to read the next in this series!
Poppy Koslowski lives a charmed life. But for every up there is always a down and at a moments notice everything Poppy knows, changes. After her father is put in prison and she and her mother are left with nothing, Poppy moves to Paris to be with her Aunt Jo. There she meets Henri who shows her a world she never knew existed. After suffering terrible loss yet again, she moves back to America to rebuild her life, finally working in the publishing world where she had intended years ago. How will Poppy find herself again amidst the chaos in one of the busiest cities in America?
Wild Poppy is listed as Book 4 in the Wildflower Series by Vivian Winslow. You do not need to read the previous 3 books to understand what is going on. This book does end in a cliffhanger.
Vivian Winslow is obviously a very talented author, and I really enjoyed her style of storytelling and the immersive descriptions of Poppy's world. That said, I think I would have liked this story a lot more if I was already familiar with the previous books in the series. It was standalone, but I didn't feel as much of a connection to everything as I would like.
Poppy's whole world goes into upheaval when her father goes to prison for fraud, she loses her family home and has to move, and is no longer seen in the best light by the social elite. Things only get worse for her when her mother chooses to remarry for money in an attempt to be accepted again in high society. Poppy makes some ill-thought decisions that only make her life more complicated and difficult, and the results are a bit heartbreaking.
I think I will try to read the Gilded Flowers and Wildflowers series and have more of an appreciation of this, but I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys Winslow's rich characters.
I received a digital ARC from the publisher to voluntarily review. This in no way influenced my review. My opinion is 100% my own.
I stop everything to read a new release from Vivian Winslow. I love this series and all the characters. I couldn't wait to read about Poppy's story. Through the rest of the series you get to see Poppy a lot and get to know her but she is one of those characters that you always want to know more about. Why she is the way she is or what made her that way. Well Wild Poppy answered half of my questions about her and there is another one to come!!
Seeing Poppy at a younger age was really different. I know her as this older, stronger person and to see her before she was that woman was nice. Seeing the pain and struggles that started out her life's path to the woman she is in the rest of the books made me feel more connected with her. My heart broke for Poppy several times while reading. The way her family did her is unthinkable. I'm glad I got to know Poppy before this book. I know that she survived and made it through regardless of the struggles. And I also see the pattern as to what she put her daughters through in the previous books.
This is a must read series for me. I feel invested in each one of their lives and I can't wait for the next book to get more insight to Poppy.
This is the first Vivian Winslow book that I have read. Eventhough its book four of the Wildflowers series, you can read this as a standalone novel. This is an addicting read. Once you start, you can caught a glimpse of Poppy's sad life, you'll keep on reading to see what will happen next. Poppy is a student in Paris, when she met Henri. She thought Henri is the love of his life, so she married him when she got pregnant with his child. Unfortunately, fate has other plans for her. She is so heartbroken and left alone, practically have no choice but to do something she will regret her whole life. To move on, she went back to the states and work in New York, hoping to find a new life. There she met Gustavo, who makes her alive again. But is she willing to risk her heart once more?
I received an advance readers copy of this book that I voluntarily reviewed.
Poppy is the daughter of an imprisoned businessman who decides to move to Paris at the behest of her mom's sister. It's there that she experiences the most passionate time of her life. I love Wild Poppy. Its vivid descriptions had me feeling as if I were in Paris right alongside Poppy. The men she meets, and the sights and sounds of Paris make for such an appealing backdrop for Poppy's young life. I need to go back and read the first books in this series, now!
I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
Vivian Winslow's "Wild Poppy" is the fourth tale in the Wildflowers series and is a part of the Gilded Flowers universe. I think this is Vivian Winslow's best work yet! I think this could easily be made into a movie. It's heartbreaking and sexy. I loved getting to know Poppy's backstory. It's good to know she does have a heart and where she's coming from. I can't wait to read whatever Vivian Winslow is writing next!
This is a really slow to start book. I didn’t feel like anything really happened until the end, then it was like BAM, the end. I can’t wait until Book Two, though because reading the excerpt at the end, it seems like a lot of my questions will be answered then. The book was very well- written and a great coming of age story about a strong young woman with limited choices.
I have to say that this has been one of my absolute favorite series that I have had the pleasure of reading in 2018. I was new to Vivian Winslow when I picked up the first book in this Wildflowers Series by her and I have been seriously addicted ever since. This is book four in the series and just when I thought that they couldn’t get any better with the last one, this one has proven me to be so very wrong. Now this has become my top favorite in the series. It is a bonus that you don’t have to read the whole series to jump in and devour these novels as they are all technically written as standalone books. However, since they are so fantastic I would highly recommend that you go back and start with book one first, Blossoming Flower. Each book is centered on a different couple and their stories have been some incredible journeys to share in. It may sound complicated but there is also another series that is available that these partner with as well, The Gilded Flower Trilogies. I have started to read these as well and am loving them too. They tie into this novel as well, as a precursor of sorts. You will fall in love with these people. I know that I think about the characters and the stories I have read long after I have finished them and I am positive I will find myself rereading them more in the future. Vivian has an ability to weave a story that lands her among some of the greats in my book. She can build a slow burn and a plot with some beautiful romances to boot. Get ready to curl up with your favorite drink, a comfy blanket, and meet some strong and fierce women and their dashing and often brooding men! Prepare to laugh and cry, engage your kindle or paperback, and become addicted to a new author to with a library full of great reads available to you!
In Wild Poppy we get to know all about Poppy Koslowski. When Poppy’s dad is sentenced to prison, her mother and herself are left to figure out how to pick up the pieces and survive with little to nothing of their own. Poppy decides to move to her Aunt Jo’s in Paris. She never saw Henri coming, and when he begins to integrate himself into her life, she experiences the world in ways she never thought would ever be possible for her. Of course there is forks in everyone’s roads and she meets hers. It takes her back home to America and forces her to start her life over yet again. Eventually, she finds herself in the world of publishing that she has always wanted to be a part of. Can Poppy figure out how to cope with her demons of her past and build a future again in America? Will she be able to find her sense of self and calm amidst the chaos of life? You won’t be disappointed that you took this journey with Poppy when you have finished this book! Watch out for that cliffhanger though! I am on my seat’s edge waiting for book five in the series to drop!
Wild Poppy by Vivian Winslow is the fourth book in her Wildflowers Series and quite possibly my favorite of the entire series. This book follows the story of Poppy who we had seen in previous books but this story is her younger years. This book is set in the early 1970s, showing Poppy’s childhood and how she became the woman that she is now. Being the daughter is a huge media mogul that was just put behind bars for a giant Ponzi scheme. The family is thrown from this scandal scrambling to pick up the pieces and learning to move on with no money. Everyone in Poppy’s family is looking for her to finish school so she can snag herself a rich husband and bring wealth and standing back to the family name, but that is the exact opposite of what Poppy wants. Poppy does want to finish school but attempting to hook a man is the last thing that she wants, Poppy wants to become an award winning journalist. With her sights set on how she wants her life to go, Poppy is more than happy to live without too many attachments, or at least that is until she meets Henri. Henri comes from powerful people in France, and while he is the absolute opposite of what she was looking for, she can’t help but fall in love with him. Poppy tries to keep her love to herself, having seen what love did to her mother, but her heart can’t stop its attraction to Henri. When an unexpected turn of events causes Poppy to run back to America with her tail between her legs, will she be able to grow from this experience or will this break something deeper in her than she can understand? But when Poppy comes face to face with a blast from her past, will she be willing to jump at passion again or will her past experience make her shy away? Winslow is a newer to me author, having discovered her works with this series. Getting to see this story behind a story with Poppy made me appreciate this series even more. I want to see how this series ends, since this book ended with a bit of a cliff hanger. If you are looking for a great series about amazing woman finding love than this is definitely a series to pick up! I can’t wait to see where this series goes in the future.
This is my first read of Vivian Winslow, its very well written and the story flows well. I enjoyed the read i didn't love it though for me personally i wanted something more!! Maybe if i had read some of Vivian Winslow previous work i.e the Gilded Flowers Series which i believe Poppy Features in i would have connected more with her. Don't get me wrong this is a standalone read it's just for me i think it would have helped.
The story starts when Poppy's life is turned upside down when her father is imprisoned for fraud, bringing disgrace to her family. Two years later and her Mother is Marrying for money this is where i felt for Poppy her life was being dictated by her Mother and her Aunt all for money. Life is more than money but i suppose if thats the life your used too it becomes the most important. But you could see that it wasn't what made Poppy happy.
The book then follows Poppy's life and the decision's made, some with heartbreaking consequences for her. This book is very well written with beautiful descriptions of the decisions Poppy makes in life and love. If your a fan of Vivian's work you'll love and get lost within this story i think for it to happen for me i need to start from the beginning. Which after reading this book i'm more than intrigued to do.
Wild Poppy by Vivian Winslow is the fourth book in her Wildflowers series and do NOT believe when you are told that you can read it as a standalone, well, ok, I guess theoretically you could but I would not recommend as having read the previous 3 books and met the older Poppy, it gave so much more dimension to the book that you will miss if you have not read the first books. I know that she is also majorly in the Gilded series and I have unfortunately not read the books in that series and once I have completed the Wildflowers series, I will go back to that one as Vivian is an amazing story teller! Wild Poppy is the beginning of Poppy Koslowski’s story – she is young and formerly rich; her father is indicated for a massive Ponzi scheme and her life gets turned upside down overnight. She moves to Paris where her aunt is trying to find her a wealthy husband and she has no idea … She meets Henri Olin who is reckless and impulsive and passionate (and FRENCH) and he sweeps her off her feet – he introduces Poppy to a world completely different to hers … well, unfortunately there are no free lunches and Poppy ends up returning to New York after experiencing a devastating loss … Still, she is young and has her life ahead of her and like all of us, she has many more choices to make and this book does end with a cliff hanger so there is no other choice for us but to go on and read Golden Poppy …
Wild Poppy (Wildflowers Book 4) By: Vivian Winslow 5 out of 5 stars
The story Wild Poppy (Wildflowers Book 4) by Vivian Winslow is the next wonderful book in a series that I have loved since I started reading. I enjoyed reading about Poppy and her life when she was younger. It is a story that had my emotions going up and down. Her story tells of when she finds love and also lives through times of sadness. There are times that are heartwarming and also times when I had tears in my eyes. Memories sometimes haunt her however I found her to be a strong-willed character. There are heartbreaking times for Poppy however she is not someone to just give up. Will Poppy find happiness and the passion that she once had? Read this book to find out. Poppy is a wonderful character and one that you want to succeed in all that she does. This is also a book about the social environment that Poppy finds herself in and how unforgiving some in society can be. This is a book that grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put down until I had finished the last page. There are secondary characters that you read about who interact with Poppy and are part of her life. They truly care about her and she can call them friends. There are others who have their own selfish agenda and are very judgmental. This book is well-developed with characters that you will not soon forget. I highly recommend adding both this story and the series to your TBR list.
This is my first read by Vivian Winslow and obviously the first in the Wildflowers series. This book was different for me as it was set in 1970. But I loved it just the same.
Poppy is the daughter of a media mogul who was recently put in jail due to a massive fraud. Now the family at a loss of fortunes and in the middle of a scandal must move on. Poppy's family wants her to finish school so she will have a bigger advantage of snagging a rich and well known husband. But thats not what Poppy wants. Yes she wants to finish school but she also wants to become an award winning journalist. But then she meets Henri.
He is a bastard son of France's most powerful politician. But what do you do when you fall in love. A love that destroyed her mother once upon a time. But in a short time Poppy finds herself alone with no love and no one to look out for her.
Tail tucked between her legs she heads back to America to start her life anew. But what happens when your past still hangs in the balance at the possibility of happiness and passion is it worth it?
The way this book ended I cant say for certain its a cliffy but at the same time Vivian has left me wanting to know more. Where did it go from there after being invested in Poppy's life up to that point I need to know what the outcome is.
I received a copy through Netgalley for an honest review
I gave this book 3 stars. 100% could have been better, but there were definitely things I enjoyed about this book.
I’ve had a copy that I got from Netgalley for over a year and I’ve always felt so guilty over not having read it. Every time I would try it just didn’t feel right and I would put it down again. It just didn’t grab my attention enough in the initial few chapters. Now I’m wondering why I wasn’t reading it this whole time.
I’m really angry about the ending of this book. It was supposed to work out as a stand-alone and instead, I got a cliffhanger. Which by the way, has not been released and considering Wild Poppy came out about two years ago I think it’s safe to say this sequel probably won’t be coming out any time soon.
There were just so many sex scenes in this book, it got to the point where I skipped over them to get to the actual story.
I felt a bit ripped off, there were just so many things that weren’t concluded. I wanted to know more about why Henri did what he did. He was absolutely in love with her and then suddenly he wasn’t anymore? It really makes no sense to me.
The entire story could have just used more expansion. I also felt a bit cheated because we were being led up to this scene at the end, and it just cut off before we could get it. It’s very frustrating.
“Wild Poppy” is the fourth book in the Wildflower series by Vivian Winslow and it does not disappoint! We have seen bits of Poppy throughout the previous books so make sure to read them so you have the whole story. “Wild Poppy” is set years before the events of the other books so far. Poppy is a young and ambitious woman who is trying to recover from her father’s scandalous career that landed him in jail for fraud. She sets off to spend time in Paris with her aunt while she finishes school. Her time in France really starts to define who she is and explains a lot about how she turns out. The events of her time there are heartbreaking but she is a strong woman and determined to live her own life. I really liked that this book is a flashback from the others so you get more story about some of the other people mentioned in previous books. I love good back story! Knowing how Poppy turns out and seeing how she is in this book make me really want to find out what happens to her next in “Golden Poppy.” These books really create an interesting world of characters and their lives. So, I give “Wild Poppy” five stars!
Wild Poppy by Vivian Winslow is the fourth book in her Wildflower series. This book can be read as a stand-alone. Throughout this story we follow Poppy, a young woman who had had everything she could need in life. That is until her father is arrested for fraud and all the family fortune disappeared. In an attempt to try and turn her life back around Poppy travels to Paris to live with her aunt. Once there she is determined to finish school and pursue he career she has always dreamed of. But her aunt had other ideas - determined to set her up in marriage to a wealthy man. But when Poppy meets Henri things change again for her, although not necessarily for the better. Running back to New York becomes her only option. But what will happen to Poppy? Will she be able to turn things around?
I am really enjoying this series. Each book is as good as the last and have great story lines. The characters are all believable and interesting. I loved that this book was just set in the one location but spread over different places. The writing style was as good as I have come to expect from this author. Very enjoyable.
Wild Poppy by Vivian Winslow is a must read! This is the fourth book in the Wildflowers series and is so far my favorite by this author. I somehow manage to fall in love with each new release more than the last. It’s a one of a kind series that’s been added to my list of all-time favorites. I’m always completely captivated from the beginning until the very end with each new read, the amount of detail from the character descriptions, their emotions, their surroundings to their pasts is all beautifully detailed that it paints a perfect picture in my mind.
I have been looking forward to reading Poppy’s story from her first appearance and I was certainly not disappointed with how it all played out. She’s honest, straight forward, successful and stubborn and I connected with her character instantly. I love how this story flowed, even with all of the gap years, and I look forward to reading more of her story with the 5th book. I would definitely recommend this book and series to anyone looking for their next romance read!
Wild Poppy (Wildflowers Book 4) by Vivian Winslow is another amazing book in this series. I have loved all the previous books in this series but I have to say that this one is quite possibly my favorite!! Poppy's story took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I am so glad I got to know Poppy's story and all of the life battles that she has fought through. This book along with this series is phenomenal and I cannot wait to read the next one especially since I am completely invested in these characters and their stories. I loved how this book gave me all feels I love when I'm reading a story!! I highly recommend reading this book and this series you will not be disappointed. The author is an amazing story teller. She draws you in and you won't be able to put it down till you find out what's going to happen, and there were times when I was reading and I thought for sure I knew what was going to happen and I was thrown for a loop. All the emotions, twist and turns and strong characters are some of the reasons I loved this story and the series.
This is the 4th book in the Wildflowers Series. It goes back in time to see the origin of Poppy who we've met in the previous stories of the series. I would suggest reading the series in order to understand why her story is important.
WILD POPPY is one of those books that i don't know if I want to love it or hate it. It's one of those books that had me wanting to throw my Kindle against a wall at certain times and at other times, wanting to give Poppy a great big hug. Her life could have been so different if only...
This is a story that took me bit to get into, I had to put it down and pick it up a few times. I've enjoyed the other stories in the series so wanted to stick this one out. It's a complex story that takes place on several continents over a decade-ish. It moves at a quick pace and goes from place to place with little fanfare.
While this isn't my favorite story in the series, I will read book five to see how it resolves itself.
I enjoy how Vivian Winslow writes and I'm glad I've been introduced to her writing. ****
Wild Poppy (Wildflowers Book 4) By Vivian Winslow 5 stars
So far in this series I have loved all of the books but this one in all honesty was just something else! It was so, so beautifully written. The author did an amazing job at writing such an emotional story; I was completely and utterly captivated by Poppy’s story. She is truly an inspirational character. Her strength and determination was so admirable, I really did love her so much. I have been waiting for Poppy’s story since the beginning of this series, she has always been there in the background but you don’t really know anything about her, her story did not disappoint at all. I liked that we went back to Poppy’s younger years, I felt like I learnt so much about her and her struggles. I could really feel the attraction that had to Henri but could understand why she thought she needed to hide her feelings away. I really am loving this series so far and I can’t wait to see what happens next. This author has created some truly amazing characters that I have totally fallen in love with!
Wild Poppy by Vivian Winslow is the fourth book in her Wildflowers Series and is spectacular! If you have read any of the previous books you will see Poppy pop into those books as well. Now Poppy gets her own story and I couldn’t be more excited! I love how Vivian has shown how Poppy was as a childhood and what shaped her into the woman she has become. Poppy’s life has been turned upside down, her dad goes to prison and her family loses everything. Expectations are put on Poppy to save the family and restore the family fortune, but Poppy has her own plans. Poppy wants to become a journalist and has a certain path she wants to take. She has accepted her fate and is happy again. Then walks in Henri, who comes from a world she used to live in and from France. Can Poppy resist falling in love with Henri? When Poppy returns to America defeated, she runs smack into someone from her past. Will this be her one chance at finding love again? Or will her past relationship hold her hostage? This book had all the feels. I just love Poppy Koslowski and Vivian Winslow!
Wild Poppy ( Wildflowers Book 4 ) By Vivian Winslow 5/5 Stars
Wow… this book made me an emotional wreck!! It’s overflowing with emotions… it’s so difficult for you to not feel anything. Authors, that make you feel… truly any type of emotion.. are really a special line of breed!! Not every single one can do it , but the ones who can… ARE phenomenal!! We got to see a glimpse of an adult Poppy. But now we go back , to see her younger years. It’s truly memorizing !! She is such a strong and independent person, with such a fierce determination for life!! Even when life tries to break her, she proves she can overcome anything that is thrown her way!! This is such a captivating book ( and series ) !! It’s told beautifully , with such intriguing characters. Once you start reading one book, you’ll want to go out and buy the others immediately!! Another outstanding job, Vivian!! Now I’m gonna start the fifth book… I can’t wait to see where it takes us next!!
Wild Poppy is the fourth book in the Wildflower series. I would suggest reading the other three books as well to understand what is going on with Poppy. Vivian Winslow gets deeper with her character Poppy that we met as a young girl. Ms. Winslow has a descriptive vocabulary which makes it easy to relate to the characters and really see the scenery of what the characters are seeing or living in. Poppy's family life is shaken when her Father is thrown in jail for his actions. She comes from wealth, but it is taken away along with her Father. She is sent to Paris and is living with her Aunt who is trying to establish her role in high society with pairing her niece with a wealthy husband. Poppy has a hard time with love and has found her in a difficult predicament. This story is a roller coaster ride, I suggest having a Kleenex box nearby. Then again you may be screaming at the book. Get yourself into your comfy clothes, Kleenex, and e-reader sit back and enjoy the book.
Wild Poppy is the fourth book in Vivian Winslow’s Wildflowers series and it takes us back in time to see how Poppy, a recurring character in the previous books came to be the person she is. Poppy was born into money but when her father is sent to jail the family fortune went with him. Determined to make something of herself she decides to focus on her dream of becoming a journalist instead of attempting to attract a wealthy husband. We follow her as she falls in love, has her life turned upside down, and always moves forward. Poppy is by far one of the strongest and most well written main characters that I have read. Her journey was an emotional rollercoaster that kept me turning page after page to see what would happen next. The characters are complex and believable, they simply draw you into their world. Another excellent five star worthy book in an amazing series and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Wild Poppy is another wonderful addition to the Wildflowers series by Vivian Winslow. I am really enjoying this series so far, the characters are so beautifully crafted, complex and fully realised individuals who bring these fantastic stories to life. This story is captivating, sexy, steamy and intriguing- although Ms. Winslow really put her character/s through the wringer in this book. I love Poppy, she’s beautiful, strong and determined. A lot of people in her situation may have given up, but her strength of character gave her the drive/determination to overcome her difficulties. I enjoy the surprises and unpredictability of Ms. Winslow’s stories and the way she is able to easily coax me further and further into her story- making me not want to miss a minute of it, and needing to know what happens. This story is set to continue in the next book- and I can’t wait to find out what happens! Sublime!
