"Of course I smelled him - smelled him and was drawn to him. Rich, ripe, male omega - not far away and well into his heat. Unsatisfied heat. I laughed, realizing that in this moment, at least, the omega was the boss of the alpha. I needed to help him."
Angel, an alpha who's left the violent, strictly hierarchical rules of his pack to find success in the big city, and Leo, an omega on the run from his abusive alpha, are thrust together to satisfy Leo’s urgent heat-lust. But can a once-hurt omega ever trust an alpha to care for and protect him again? And can an alpha sensitive to social injustice learn to enjoy his naturally dominant nature?
Angel and Leo must both face the pasts they ran away from before the two can build a new future together. They may not be able to change the laws of nature, but they can change the language of love.

It is a known fact that I enjoy shifter stories. I mean what’s not to like about them? 😁 All the testosterone filled macho alphas and sweet and submissive yet sassy omegas plus knotting and dirty shifter sex! 😱 It’s everyone’s wet dream with lots of sweet kinks and fetishes. 😉 But a gal can read so many shifter stories before she becomes jaded. 😂 Most of the stories I read are hot but that’s it. They don’t make me hot and bothered and panting like when I first discovered these deliciously dirty sweet treats. Well, no more! 😁 This, this book made me hot, bothered, sweat and pant and left wanting even more after very very deliciously dirty smut. 🔥😱 I love it. 😍 I became a hardcore Tanya Chris fan just with this one book. 😂👏 I really really enjoyed the hell out of it. 💙
Leo, an omega who doesn’t wanna be claimed and belonged to anyone else. Once belonged to an abusive arsehole Alpha, Leo ran away to the farthest possible city and rebuilt his life as an ordinary human. Everything was doing well, actually really really well for 5 years …. Until he got into a very extreme heat and met Alpha Angel.
Angel, an Alpha who left his pack and trying to build his own empire by working really hard in “New During” city. He hated the stereotypical and archaic shifters law that favors for alphas and suppresses other shifters that have lower ranks than him. Trust me, he wanted to rule and he wanted to command a pack, an empire of his own, but by his own labor. 😌 He hates being born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he’s trying to find a way for himself in his life. And he’s doing pretty well until he met Leo, a sweet and exotic omega who’s desperately in heat.
Due to some circumstances back in his hometown, Angel didn’t want to take advantage of the omega in heat by providing one thing he desperately needed. “An Alpha Knot”, to be more precise, “his knot”. 😂👏 He vowed to himself that he’d never take an omega as his mate and his life is nowhere near ready for a relationship with another person. And you think that’s all? The omega in heat was previously claimed. 😱 Though the scent is faint, he can still smell it … and he knows Leo belongs to someone else. But when had the heart ever listened to the head? 😏 After all, “sane love is no love”. 😍 He will do anything to help the desperate omega. And hopefully, he won’t end up being challenged by the Omega’s alpha. Or may be he wants to. 😉
Storywise, it’s not much. It’s about two lost souls who had terrible pasts finding soulmates in each other’s heart and becoming one. A bit angsty with a nice amount of hurt/comfort. But my my my! 😍 The smut is remarkable though. 😱 I wouldn’t mind if the whole book is filled with smut and I’d still give it above 4 stars. It was “THAT” delicious. 😂 So deliciously dirty, smoking-hot, smutty, sexy, kinky and raw. The first heat of Leo? Even made me fantasize about either being the Alpha or Omega in the story. It was so raw and sexy. And it’s not only smut. The storyline is actually decent and interesting. And constant omega heat, baby! 🔥🔥🔥 You are in for a treat. 😉 I would have liked an epilogue but I actually saw that Tanya Chris is coming up with the second book in this world and it’s going to be published in a few days. So I do hope to get glimpses of Angel and Leo. 😇 Rest assured, they did get their HEA. I just wanted an epilogue because obviously, I couldn’t get enough of them. 😁 If you are into wolves shifters, a bit hurt/comfort angst, super SUPER hot smut, then you have to read this book. 😍 I rest my case here. 😁
Favorite excerpts from the novel: 💗💜💗
I actually forgot to highlight the paragraphs since I was so immersed in that delicious shifter smut 😂 but I went back and highlighted some delicious smut. I hope you enjoy the highlights. 😉
“But you’re my angel,” he protested with a soft, soft voice. He rose to his knees, not quite bold enough to leave the bed when I’d ordered him to stay, but pushing at the edges of my order. “I need you. Need you.”
With every stroke, my knot expanded, and with every expansion, the force required to ram it back into him increased, and with every extra ounce of force I put into my thrusts, Leo’s squealing moans raised in tone and in volume, and I rather think mine answered his, though I could hardly hear anything above the squelching sound my knot made when it breached his hole one more time—the sound of pleasure being wrung out of me. “Knot,” he crooned, his voice a perfect reflection of how unbearably good it all was.
His surrender was even sexier than his need, the way he relaxed finally and let me do whatever I wanted to his body. It was through surrender that he won, because I had to fuck him then, when he was lax and dumbstruck.
“Take it,” I growled against his neck, my teeth locking into the skin between shoulder and neck, ripping him into submission. My claws dug into his hips as I tried to keep him steady enough to drive into him. “Take it, omega. Serve your alpha. You know you want it, so take it!”"
4.5 super sexy guardian angel and cunning, exotic omega lover stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Well, color me impressed. Though I would never complain, many ABO stories can be ridiculously over the top or all about the smex (which is why I like this trope so much) but this had a good balance of story, background, and relationship progression that never shirked on what makes ABO so good.
Angel, tired and disgusted with how his pack treats Omegas, chose to leave his territory and has been living in the city trying to deny his alpha nature. He knows he’s not above the urges that naturally come with him being who he is, but Angel doesn’t have to like it or expose himself to potential temptation. However, things suddenly change when on his way home, Angel smells the irresistible lure of an omega in heat.
Leo too, has left his pack due to being the punching bag of his abusive alpha. Here in this world, most think very little of omegas and treat them as property to do with what they wish. Leo doesn’t want an alpha, but he can’t deny what his body needs when it goes into heat. When Angel knocks on his door, Leo is unable to stop from himself from taking what only Angel can give him. Oh yeah.
Though biologic urges bring Angel and Leo together, they slowly form a tentative friendship with obvious benefits. Leo being officially claimed by someone else definitely throws a wrench into things which unfortunately, ends up endangering his health. To what lengths will either go to in order to be free to choose their own fate?
This gets serious bonus points for being one of the more well written ABO’s out there, as it took the time to delve deeper into the hierarchical dynamics of such and the ensuing political climate that many of Leo and Angel’s packmates were either resisting or supporting. Never fear though. The instincts and the yummy smexy heat goodness (plus some very nice KNOTTING) were never shirked on and are sure to satisfy on all fronts.
I admit that I originally was drawn to the second book in this series but being true to reading order, I had to read this first. I’m so not sorry I did, as the realistic weight to the plot was much appreciated, making Leo and Angel’s love all the more believable and meaningful.
This is a nice hot and slightly different shifter romance. Here omegas have very few rights, alphas hold all the power and can do more or less as they like. As a result Omegas are abused and beaten and there’s nothing they can do. Leo found himself in this position and he ran, he’s been free for five years but his heat has hit and he’s suffering. Angel is an alpha living alone amongst humans, he’s lonely and lives for work until he catches the most amazing smell one night.
There’s a lot of sex in this book as expected since Leo’s in heat but the story develops as Angel and Leo get to know one another.
I definitely wanted more at the end and I was all set for continuing their story. In fact I went straight over to Amazon before even writing my review so I could download the next book. But Omega Revealed features a different couple and while I’m sure they will all eventually link up I wanted Angel and Leo so I’m going to sulk in the corner for a while.
What an unexpected treasure! I bow down to Shin and her persuasive powers!
You see, I avoid m/m shifter stories with the Alpha-Beta-Omega dynamics. Not because I don't love the growling and the grunting and the "MINE" - there isn't much I love more - but because they inevitably feature MPREG, which isn't a reading preference of mine. There is no MPREG here, but fans of the subgenre can take comfort. Tanya Chris delivers the heat and the slick and the knotting and delivers it good!
Since this was a shorter story, I'll aim to keep my review short. For its condensed length, the world-building is no less fascinating here. The relationship between reluctant Alpha Angel and reluctant Omega Leo is more modern and forward-looking, both men eschewing the prejudices and injustices frequently tied to their traditions. But it is still grounded in a dirty and deliciously animalistic need for each other. Both have a desire to care for and comfort each other, and that desire nicely balances the angst. I appreciated how their HEA came to fruition, turning the "lad in distress" trope on its head.
Would I have enjoyed it a bit more if it were a bit longer? Sure, but I can't complain too much. Omega Reclaimed was sweet and sexy beyond belief. Read it, people!
As remains true to past reading experiences with this author, Tanya Chris is a solid and unique writer, with an engaging and easy voice and style, and a depth and complexity to her characters, and their relationship dynamics, that I always appreciate and enjoy.
Unfortunately, I believe I did this story the HUGE disservice of reading it too late. Had I simply read this when it came out back in 2016—when I first downloaded it to my kindle and when I was much newer to these types of stories—I probably would have loved this take on M/M (non-mpreg) omegaverse a hell of a lot more than I did reading this story now.
To be clear, it is still a solid read on all counts and I enjoyed a lot about it: decent characters, strong writing, interesting world-building, with dynamic couple chemistry and sizzling sexual connectivity between the stories non-stereotypical alpha and omega MCs.
The problem for me is simply that I’ve read so many M/M omegaverse stories at this point, that what, I’m certain, was a very refreshing and cool take on the sub-genre in 2016 ended up being just another typical story of its kind when reading it for the first time in 2025. That’s totally on me… and maybe an itty-bitty bit on the likes of Roe Horvat, for ruining the entire genre with their unmatched perfection. 😂
I still very much enjoyed the story and the characters, and I’m likely to read on with the expanded series too—I simply didn’t end up loving it to the same degree I see a lot of my long-standing GR friends did back in the day. However, if you enjoy a strongly written omegaverse tale, or you're new to the genre, OR you just need/crave something easy and fairly short to read that will satisfy, then this might be a perfect pick to refresh the reading palate.
I really loved this. Angel is a charming narrator and I was rooting for him throughout the book. Leo was a wonderful partner. Swoon. I hope there will be a sequel. I need to know what happens next.
So much awesomeness in one little novella. So good, lots of steam, a little humor. And Leo is so cute. :) Just an observation: not once have I read a shifter book (so far), where the characters were fucking in their wolf form. It is usually ignored, like they don't even have a dick once they shift. So I was glad to see that's not the case here. I mean, sure it wasn't detailed, I didn't even want it to be. ;) But it wasn't shoved under the rug.
The ending was a bit rushed... I mean... I don't like when
Sometimes I think I live under a rock. I don't know how I missed this book or this author but I am glad that error has been fixed.
I'm intrigued by this take on Alphas, Betas and Omegas and am curious to see where the series takes us. I love the world building and the dynamics of the different Packs.
I will admit to missing a bit of the romance that normally I love in my stories but somehow I found how the relationship manifested itself better for it. Sometimes I need to get out of my own head and stop having preconceived notions. I guess I get a little put off when it seems walking away is an option. Duh. Wolves.
I love this authors writing and am immediately moving on to the next story!
Leo has escaped an abusive Alpha, and is in hiding, Angel finds him and saves him in every way possible. In the packs, nobody wants a formally claimed Omega, but Angel doesn't care for their discriminatory views. They are why he left pack life in the first place.
This was sweet and lovely, and there was HOT shifter sex... oh, so much sex... detailed and dirty and... a lot 🔥
I found that there was such a strong mirror held to women's rights where Omega rights were concerned. Take womens rights back 50 years, and the roles and expectations of the Omegas were similar to women. Expected to stay in an abusive relationship... "A bad husband is better than no husband" (A direct quote from my own grandfather to my mother). Luckily, there are some that are working towards Omega rights in this story.
I'm looking forward to the next book as I feel the Beta who identifies as an Omega is going to be a strong representation of out transgender community. Loving the messages in this series. But there will still be sex... oh, so much sex.
A different spin on ABO verse. Here there is a society that wants to change (at least part of it) and alpha and omega that have left because their role and life was untenable. Mating heat, knotting - all here. However, like a Tootsie Roll Pop there is something when you get to the end you didn't suspect. Recommended!
I definitely didn't expect this. This is pretty damn good. Excellent writing style, Tanya Chris is one to check out for well written shifter stories. 'Modern' take on shifters and mating. Even they have to evolve with the times. Humans and wolves co-existing. Shifters leaving pack land to live amongst humans where they can have equal rights and opportunities. Away from the chains of tradition. This was a refreshing Shifter story. Discarding the mine, mate, growly Alpha and the meek, submissive omega. Instead you have an Omega who's standing up for himself, who's physically strong and capable. And an Alpha who is looking for equality and not dominance. No insta-love or fated-mate. However, there is still biology, instinct and heats. There is also plenty of knotting and the chemistry between Leo and Angel is scorching. The beloved Alpha and Omega bed-talk is more role play than a reality of their dynamic. I would consider this a contemporary shifter story. I was pleasantly surprised by Omega Reclaimed . It reads incredibly fresh and original. I think if it was longer and if their relationship had cemented more it would have been a five star read, but as it is, I felt like I just skimmed the surface of something wonderful. Regardless, I really enjoyed this.
Seriously refreshing read, anyone who's in the mood for something original, light and well written in A/B/O universe would definitely enjoy this. Highly recommend.
3.5 stars. Very bleak shifter universe. Wolves didn't have fated mates nor did they fall in love. Alphas did bite omegas which formed a permanent bond. Shifter laws and traditions went beyond logic and instinct, creating a defenseless omega class that had no rights.
This story was about alpha Angel and bonded omega Leo who had left their packs and moved to a human city. They established a relationship breaking shifter laws and going against traditions. Their actions forced their respective packs to deal with societal norms and individual rights.
This was a very slow build romance even though there was sizzling-hot-knotting-mating-heat sex from the very beginning. Not only with their work and lifestyle, the couple dated like humans too. And of course, they fell in "love" with each other. They were both quite progressive and did not want to do an alpha-omega bond, but instead, chose to do a human marriage.
So that was pretty fun. The story was intriguing and I admit I stayed up too late last night and practically finished it in one sitting, so it definitely held my interest.
I actually have a bunch of books by this author (and T.M. Chris) which I must have gotten on instafreebie or Amazon for free - and they're all on KU it seems as well. The author has a nice writing style and I'll definitely read her again.
A story of two wolves who like being together. An alpha who wants to help. I liked the story because it has good sex scenes and a good plot. There was shifting, sex, and love. Good romance. Would like to read more of this author.
What was missing in this book for me was a true conversation between Leo and Angel well at least between heats. My opinion of Leo wasn't very good after finding out some of his history throughout the book, he seemed very manipulative especially when he wanted something. The bonus point for him was he freely admitted his wrong doing with playing on the alpha hormones both with Bruce his old alpha and with Angel as well. This was a very steamy hot read with plenty of serious hot role play!!! I enjoyed Leo and Angel opening up verbal communication at the end, just wish there was more of that throughout the book.
In my experience it takes a special kind of writer to create really good shifter books... and Tanya Chris is definitely one of them. This story and its two MCs just grabbed me by the throat and took me along for one incredible ride as Angel and Leo got together. I loved the author's unique take on the whole Alpha/omega thing and the interesting world-building she did. I also very very much loved the ending and how so very far from typical their relationship was in that world. Bravo for writing something with a world where claiming your mate does not equate "insta-love"!!
Intriguing and unusual narration/inner voice of the alpha MC, liked it a lot! The pacing of the plotline is very good, with lots of smexy-heat-and-knotting moments intertwined with lupine political topics. Now I want to read more about this world in 'Omega Revealed'.
This was a short read. Recommended by a GR buddy so I’m happy to announce I did enjoy it. We seem to have similar tastes, after all 😉 but I felt a little lost. I mean, it was, after all a brand new world for me and a lot of things weren’t explained. And if the author expected me to be able to pick up the unwritten, implicit clues, well, I think I may have been too dense to decipher it 🙈 But my lack of brain cells notwithstanding, it was an enjoyable short read 😬
Everything felt so rushed...but it's a novella, not full-length so I guess that was to be expected? IDK.
I did enjoy this story, though; the fight between biology and conscious thought was an interesting way to approach a shifter story. Plus, Leo was the best way to have the issue resolved.
This is an interesting take on Alphas and Omegas. The alpha moved to the big city to get away from the responsibilities of having an omega. He wishes he was human and wants to work hard and save money so he can invest in his own company.
What a book! Alphas, omegas, and betas oh my! And I LOVE how the Omega is pretty much the hero in this book. Love it. Omegas get overlooked because they are considered weaker but they are definitely the stronger ones having to put up with everyone's shit. And most often having the babies as well!! Angel was in heaven. The scent of the Omega was surrounding him and putting he and his wolf in overdrive. To the point, he couldn't ignore it. Something is off about this little Omega. He can smell it. He does all he can to help without knotting him. He almost makes it, but an alpha can only last so long. He finally gives Leo the relief he needs, but realizes Leo has already been claimed. And Angel doesn't want a mate. But as time goes on, Leo’s heats aren't getting better. They're getting worse. And both have to travel to each other's packs in order to fix what's wrong. But the past has a way of rearing its ugly head. And as much as Angel wants equal rights for ALL omegas, quite a few shifters don't. And they may not make it out alive. I just adore these two. And this story. I love that Angel is an alpha with morals and a conscious. He thinks everyone should be equals. Omegas should be treated with respect, not as punching bags or as lessers. I love how gentle he is with Leo. And how he makes sure he consent before he does anything, in case Leo doesn't want it. He's what an alpha should be like. Leo is an amazing Omega in his own right. Being messed up with the heats he's having is leaving him in a state, but when in his right mind, he's formidable. Just like it should be. And what he does at the end, oh yeah. Omegas shouldn't ever be underestimated. Ever. Even when beaten to their lowest, they survive any way they know how. This is a great start to this series. I'm so ready to delve into the next book and see where this goes. I know where I hope it does lol. http://lovebytesreviews.com/
This is my second book by Tanya Chris. I enjoyed it, but I didn’t love it. I just couldn’t get into Angel and Leo. I did like the twist at the end. I also liked that the story was told from the Alpha’s point of view. That was different and well handled.
Mixed feelings with this one. It started off light and fun with steamy alpha/omega sex, knotting included. There were serious moments, but they weren’t written about in depth and a lack of angst kept it from being overly emotional. I was in my happy place :)
As the story continued, though, it lost that entertaining style. We were told about things but we didn’t experience them. What we did experience felt off, like the characters were just being moved around, made to say and do things that didn’t feel natural. It led to some plot holes that I tried to ignore and made it difficult to connect with Angel or Leo. In the end, it derailed what started as a promising read :(
I may have found a new favorite author in the m/m genre. This is my second experience with Tanya Chris and now I am completely hooked on her writing. It's such a relief to finally read sentences again that don't feel like the poor things were tortured first...
Since a/b/o comes from fanfiction and I'm actually part of the fandom that 'invented' it I can't say that the worldbuilding here was anything new. It also really didn't seem as dark to me as some other reviewers mentioned but I guess that's a matter of YMMV. Fandom definitely tends to use this trope to not only tell stories with amazingly hot sex but also as social commentary. So the idea of Omegas as a supressed and abused lower class is nothing new and by comparison things seemed actually pretty mild here since none of the worst abuse happens on screen.
This is one of the best executions of the trope I have read and really the only big criticism I have is that I wish it was longer and that there was a sequel because I'm interested in this world and of course want more Leo and Angel :)
