"My name is Amanda and at the ripe age of 23 I'm dead. I got the biggest shock of my after-life, when I discovered that what I thought was a near-death experience was just...death. What could be weirder than that you say? I just met death and his name is Derek." Amanda discovers that in order to move on, she must experience the things she never did while alive, Accompanied by her very own Grim Reaper
Never, never, never could I have thought that Death could have a humorous side for the recently departed, but clearly, it can! D.M. Singh’s DEAD NORMAL is a light-hearted tale of one young woman’s afterlife as she discovers that, yes, she was taken too soon, before she had experienced all she was meant to, but she is given a second chance to get the good stuff right.
Amanda is dead, but now what? Why is she feeling like she is alive and why is that hot guy telling her he is Death and his name is Derek? Seems Derek is to be her “reluctant cruise director” until she complete three tasks she missed out on in life.
Follow Amanda’s incredible and incredibly funny journey, rejoining the living in a new body, with a new identity and an entire new group of friends from beyond!
Face it, our own death is not a laughing matter, too many unknowns, too many things still to do, right? I think I just changed my mind and am clearly hoping/expecting at least as much craziness as Amanda! Clearly this is one of those Hidden Gems that goes to the top of my reading pile! Live, laugh, love and when you die, looks like you may be able to finish the important stuff on your eternal bucket list! A fun read, honest!
D.M. Singh, you nailed a fabulous read!

Amanda died under less-than-glorious circumstances; and now she has to achieve three goals before she can move on. Luckily, she has Death (a.k.a. Derek) to help.
I read a snippet of this book in Indie Visible, and found it very amusing. I was thrilled that the full book is just as good, if not better!
I loved this. I read it over a weekend, and it just seemed the perfect balance of humour, endearing characters, and quirkiness (not to mention a very romance-worthy Death, who happens to be called Derek).
Amanda is a really cool character. She never gave a shit about people's opinions of her when she was alive, and she's not about to change now she's dead. She's very happy with her life, being independent and a bit of a loner, being a bit weird and fine with that. She's got a good heart, and definitely someone I'd be friends with.
The rest of the cast are fantastically eclectic. I mean Bob, I think Amanda could have had a meaningful friendship just with him!
This is a standalone book, and it wraps the story up nicely, and I really liked the direction the plot went. As funny and kooky as some parts are; it is balanced with some very sincere parts, covering grief and mourning.
A brilliant Young Adult paranormal tale. Took me just under two days to read. What surprised me most about this book was that there was no swearing/bad language throughout this book. Which made a pleasant change so many authors writing for young adults seem to think that the stories need to contain strong language, violence or sexually explicit activities. This book shows none of those things are at all necessary for a book to be a good read.
This tale is the story of the death of a young woman Amanda who is tragically killed, lets say in a rather unusual way. (The story has several comedic elements within its pages.)
Before Amanda and her family can move on from her tragic death she must meet up with Death himself, in this story called simply Derek. Amanda must complete three tasks, but first she needs a body enter Bob the extremely tall body guy.
This is a fun read with weird and wild wacky characters look out for Sister Sherri the ghost nun, Fairy Heather nightclub owner. Flangelina Drag Queen and Jeff the cake baking zombie
So I don't usually have a thing for comedy when it comes to books but this book had me laughing from first chapter and as the story went on it had my heart in my throat until finally adding a smile to my lips as it ended. I have to add though that I was also sad to see it end because I feel in love with Amanda and Death.
I loved this book! I enjoyed the wonderfully quirky multi-faceted characters and the sweet, yet awkward romance between Amanda and Derek. I giggled at the humour, the banter between friends and the situations they find themselves in. I was surprised at the unexpected plot twists and the fantastic ending.
