Hatched
Taulan joi Lana Coburn, War Master of the Preor third fleet, is finally having his wishes granted. He has a mate and will soon have two dragonlets to protect and love. But only if he can live to see them born. Or, as his Lana says, hatched.

Hatched should be read between Zadri and Ivoth. It’s a short story about the birth of the first Human/Preor children.
It gives us the first couple in the series, Taulan and Lana, and shows us the birth of their twins. Since the Preor and the women who mated them don’t know what to expect when it comes to the birth of the children they deiced to not allow drugs and have it be a natural birth. Man that’s hard. When I had my child. I did the drugs. I can’t imagine going through labor without it. Beside the labor their is something else in play.
Hatched is great for fans of the series to experience the first birth of Human/Preor children. It was an ok read for me.

Well this is uber short but an absolute treat for fans of the Preor series. It's a pretty good insight into this world the author has created with protective and slightly wacky male shifters who are often quite violent but when it comes to females they are just putty in their soft hands! Yes it's very much a tongue in cheek series with the women often leading these guys on a merry dance but with this novella we see just what it means when the Preor truly bond with their mate.
Essentially it's the story of Taulan , the War Master and his mate Lana who is about to drop their twins! Imagine you are about to give birth to twin hybrids (who might have wings!) and not allowed any drugs because no one quite knows how your body will react. Lana is to put it mildly peeved, she hurts, she wants to feel in control and yet everyone is getting in her way . It's her body that's been hijacked and her thoughts and reactions are hilarious to read. Anyone whose given birth will recognise her feelings and this girl is not one to keep her mouth shut! Yet there's something else in play that is so , well actually I'm not sure if it's sweet or just plain wonderful so you might have to decide for yourself. Are Lana's efforts worth it all? Well of course with this author you know it's going to be a fabulous ending but her twist left me smiling. Yes this is great for the fans but it's also a pretty good example of the strong and funny characters this author keeps coming up with. Fast, irreverent and romantic what more could I ask?

My review is as short as this book. I enjoyed it. It's sweet , little treat to have while waiting for the next Dragon book. It doesn't work as a standalone, but if you're a fan of the series, I'd recommend it.

What a fun read. In this book we get to experience the birth of Lana and Taulans twins. The book starts off with Lana on her own in her quarters determined that the stomach pains are not labor. She soon realizes she needs to head to medical as she is in fact about to deliver. The trek to medical is full of well meaning people but nothing goes as Lana has planned. Once she reaches medical all is not well and the team must deal with another patient before helping Lana. There was some underlying humor- men would die if they had to give birth- But it was subtle and didn't take from the story. Overall the story of the twins birth was humorous but special. Lana was the same snarky girl we have come to know and love and her quick mouth kept the book from being sappy. I loved Penelope and hope we see more of her and Lily in future books. As well we got glimpses of some of the preor males who we have seen in previous books and I hope this means they are soon to get books of their own (Argan..) As always I'm looking forward to the next in the series. A 3.5 star read for me.

OMG!!! Celia Kyle had me rolling with laughter this entire short story! Man, I wish it was a full-length book! I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this book!
Lana Coburn has to be one of my favorite leads that Celia has written! And that says a lot! Those Alpha Marked girls are some stiff competition. (snickers)
Lana does not want anyone to realize she is in labor. Because everyone will fuss over her. Plus she does not want to admit she has to push out not one but two babies with no meds! I would be in denial as well. js. So when everyone finds out, its nothing but hysterics for the readers. This woman's furry to scare the scariest of men... Preor.
When Lana finds her man in the sickbay no Preor will keep her from him. I do not care how big and scary you are. Plus the fact that the newly improved ships module is just as sassy as she is. The Preor men better run.
Poor Taulan joi had no idea what his wife really was going through until the end.
I must say that "Girls Rule and Boys Drool!" Just ask Lana and Taulan's new dragonlet baby girl who is boss!

Oh, the joys of childbirth. Or perhaps I should say "the joys of childbirth when you're the first human giving birth to a human/Preor hybrid (or TWO hybrids, in this case) and when your mate is bonded to you on a practically spiritual level and can feel everything you're feeling."
Aliens, man. I love 'em.
Anywho. I get a kick out of big, strong warriors felled by the pain that goes along with this blessed event. Because childbirth hurts and now the Preor dudes get to see just how much. Also, cranky mothers-to-be always lighten my mood. Which sounds weird when I say it, but I like how rageful women get when they're in the midst of doing their thing.

This is so cute! Its a shorty but hilarious. Any woman who's been through the pain of labor would so get this! Sympathy pains...oh that was just awesome! I loved how she was in labor and in immense pain and she was so gonna kick someones ass if they didnt let her get to her man. Ha. Cuteness.

Cute but very short. I didn't give it more stars because I've had 2 kids and no way could I hide my pain from my hubby. That was just not believable to me because I definitely wanted drugs and my husband present. No way I was walking anywhere if I knew I could get carried there. Sooo, it just came off as a silly way for the story to unfold.

Yes the end was really cute - but I did not like how Lana behaved in this book. Thought she was a selfish bitch so it was a miss for me.

I love the books in this series so as soon as I saw that cover I immediately knew I had to read this book. Lana didn't want anyone knowing she was in labor, at least not right away. She planned on breathing through the labor pains and then slowly make her way to medical when it was time to give birth. The last thing she wanted was for her over protective mate to see her in pain and start with all the worrying. But her plans went out the window as soon as her friends stopped by who just happened to be nurses. They made sure she went to medical right away which was a good idea since she was having twins.
Taulan had been having some sort of pains all morning but he didn't realize he was actually feeling the pain his mate, Lana was in so he fought through it. Taulan was Preor, a dragon shifter and Lana his mate was a human. Since there weren't a lot of Preor and Human pairings, they didn't know a lot about the babies or dragonlets that Lana was about to give birth to. But the pain that Taulan was experiencing got so bad that his friends escorted him to medical as well.
The labor was difficult and painful because her babies were not entirely human, she had to give birth naturally. The medical staff wasn't sure how the babies would react to drugs to make giving birth easier so no drugs until the medical staff figured out if it was safe for both mother and baby. Maybe sometime in the future the birthing process would be less painful for the mothers.
This novella was so cute after all the labor pains. The babies are surprising and so cute. I can't wait to read more of this series.

This is a perfect example of what I expect when alien romances produce children....aliens taking words literally, confusion, humor, almost a three-stooges effect. This story was perfect! I laughed so hard.....and yet it was so sweet. Bravo! This is a story I’ll reread many many times.

Hated that this was so short. Loved that Taulin had to suffer thru the labor pains & how the pain was able to bring the mighty Preor warrior down! How many women in the history of human's has said that a man (or in this case a Dragon) couldn't handle the pain in child birth! This was like sweet revenge, makes you wonder if he will be willing to go thru it again for more babies! ;) I've always thought there would be less babies born if men had to go thru pregnancy & labor instead of the women. More deets would have been nice to some areas of the story too. There were a few points in this that weren't as cohesive, but overall, this was a fun read. I think all women who have given birth will appreciate this story.

Parasites! Ha!
When I went through labor, I was lucky enough to not dissolve into a screaming mess, but my cousin went nuts! I could relate purely because I understand how painful labor is. She called her husband, his mother and all men names that could make a sailor blush. I, however, remember thinking after the head delivered that the for should just grab the "thing" and pull it out! Pain and suffering may have slightly altered my normally upbeat thinking, So, this story was hilarious and I highly recommend reading this entire series. You won't be disappointed. Each story has its own unique style and the stories are both interesting and comical! Good job!

This is one of the funniest books I've ever read. Both Lana and Taulan are stubborn to the max. She refuses to acknowledge she is in labor and Taulan thinks he's dieing when he feels her labor. Liquid Knot ( from the last book) has gotten into the ship's programming and given it a name and a sense of humor. And then there's the dragonlets. They love setting mom on fire, staying up all night keeping mom awake, setting their bed on fire, etc. And they are about to turn the Preor traditions upside down. You'll love it!

Novellas about kids always sound like a better idea than they ever turn out and this one was no exception. Why does every author think they're original in writing a birthing mother being stupid and lying about labor and then when it's too late and delivery must take place STAT, the female swears she's going to remove body parts from the male who impregnated her. It's boring, overdone and this one is no exception.

It was brilliant couldn't stop reading it Lana was so funny and it just reminded me of the comments I made when I was in Labour. I live the bit where taulan feels the pain how often do we wish they could go through it. Hope you do some more like this and some more stories about the prior dragons there brilliant keep up the good work x

Hatched (Scifi Alien Romance) (Dragons of Preor Book 6)

This was a very fun short story.
A must read for those that love the Preor series.
Lana is as stubborn and determined as ever. Taulan is just as stubborn and we can't forget Penelope.

Absolutely great
I really enjoyed this book. I certainly hope there are more stories about the dragons of Preor. Of course I enjoy less sexual descriptions and more battles. Strong women and men working together to wipe out evil appeal to me. I never liked weak women because in my family's raising you were all equal to the task. No wussy allowed....

A cute novella
Easy to read, it flows quickly. This little piece of an update will have you smiling at the notion of a shared experience. I love the addition of Penelope and can't wait to see if Liquid Knot gets a Preor of her own soon, too.

Two for the Price of One
Well, if only men could experience childbirth. I loved this book for the fact that after 4 kids myself my husband wouldn't have made it after one. This was a fun short story about the next generation of Preor Dragons and you will be surprised. Loved it.

For the life of me I could not understand Lana's reasoning for any of what she did in this story, not to mention the Healers or the Preor's. It was emotional and confusing, the first part is great but not when you put it together with the second part.
Having given birth four times I can fully understand that she was hormonal and scared and a whole bunch of confusing things were going on in her head, but honestly I could not understand why she first of all hid that she was in labour then refused to have the medical monitoring device put on (which was as much to monitor the health of her babies as her own... why would anyone refuse that during such a dangerous time both to her and her babies?)
That and the fact that it slammed all over one of my top peeves, I gave birth in a time where the only form of relief from the pain was oxygen. So I did the "natural birth" thing, but honestly any time a child passes through a vagina IMO it's a natural birth, whether it was done while the mother was under drugs, epidural, saddle block, or ass deep in water, whatever, happy healthy baby is all that counts.
