Amelita Rae took a wrong turn on the internet one day. All the innocent young lass wanted to do was watch funny cat videos, but then she discovered Boy's Love and that was the end of any worthwhile contribution she might have otherwise made to the world.

She now spends most of her time writing filthy smut that she tries to frame with farfetched plots and deranged characters, but don't be fooled by her bullshit people, its all just smut.

As preposterous as ever! 😁 But what to do! Miss Rae surely is the catnip of my craving for kinky and sexy eroticas. Thoroughly enjoyed it for the second time. 😉

Original review: lightly edited version

Please read at your caution. The story contains extreme violence, torment, non-con, rape, abuse, torture and cannibalism. If you can't handle these kind of stuffs, you better don't read this one since this one REALLY is very very bloody and gory. 😌 And you know what, I still loved it. 💙 Miss Rae really is the hands down best Yaoi author who writes in English IMO. Her MCs are of always the same appearance. The Dom with golden eyes, black hair, very muscular and tall and the Sub with deep blue eyes, blonde hair with lithe and nubile body. After having read almost all her works, you might think I'm getting tired of her identical characters and far-fetched and wild storylines. But NOPE, my friend. 😁 She's going to be the only author I will forgive for using the same physical structures in MCs. 😌

Yes, true. The story is very violent, ridiculously and extremely inhumane but still has a beauty in it. The storyline is strong and the characters are fascinating. And has a very nice HEA. I love how they decided to rescue the world in the end. 😉

✦ this was sadly mostly boring. i was reading this for the monster fucking alone, but i barely got any of that. shame.
✦ got a weak attempt at world building and a weak plot instead. like i don't care... just give the monster smut!!!
✦ the smut that was there WAS hot - i just wanted MORE.

I usual tiptoe into this subject, but I need to address it right out of the gate. There is a lot of rape in here. Like very graphic, detailed rape scenes. And the way our main character, Nairu finds his lycan lifemate is very unsettling. He is severely traumatized, beaten and raped, escapes his tormentors, is chased and bitten by zombies, and then raped by Ren, the insatiable werewolf, who decides to masturbate into his wounds to heal them and then claim him as his mate. And somehow Nairu is ok with all this, showing nonexistent signs of all that trauma happening to him within the course of a few hours, and decided to stay with Ren. So the internal logic was nonexistent and even the eventual love scenes between our two leads was ok, but still very ugly and violent. And the author kept trying to smooth that out by narrating the sensuality and affection, despite what was actually happening between the characters. The dialogue, both during and surrounding the sex, was also cringy. And, for a book like this advertised as erotica, the sex scenes make or break it, and this teeter-tottered on that fine line. The plot also had a very hard pivot halfway in, going from a pure zombie survival story to an erotic werewolf tale, and the pieces struggled to connect. The best thing about this book was that it tried hard to devise an actual plot and not totally depend on sex or violence to carry it. But that was about it, as everything else just didn’t match up. This desperately needed a content editor.

Want to mention: inconsistencies, contradictions, messed up narrative (not always sure in which timeline I was), cliches and various other wtf-ery waiting for you on every page and in every paragraph. But, yaoi novel, what did I expect. I went for something naive and low quality - a quicky, if you please - and I got it for about 60%.

And then BIG guns came out.

NOT A SPOILER, BUT A SERIOUS WARNING (this is all in the book, not my words, except for "wtf", so keep your finger off that "flag" button):

*

The book took a turn for pure brutality: brutal rape, brutal beatings, brutal murder, brutal zombies, brutal weres, brutal winter, just effing brutal all around with a bouquet of taboos thrown in just for the shocker. It includes consuming human flesh, tearing off limbs, sucking out brains and eyes, ripping out "bowels", fisting, tearing up assholes (literally, of course), dancing on the bloody floor and stomping through the guts, watersports, piss enemas, knotting, implied incest (why not go all the way, wtf?), bestiality and manimal sex/rape (shifted form). I am sure I missed a few juicy bits while rolling my eyes. Please, don't hold it against me.

1 star for the first 60-65%, which still contained a story. The rest - super-massive black hole.

Thank you for your time.

PS Must mention: one of the scenes in the book reminds me strongly of Prisoner in the Viewfinder. Particularly the scene on the cruise ship with Michael Arbatov, his uncle Yuri and Akihito. A young blond photographer, a pure soul, raped and abused by bad russian homophobic mobsters.

The first half was brutal AF; the second, squeamishly satisfying 😅 HEA guaranteed, but NOT for the faint-hearted!
Everything had been taken from him by the vicious brutality of the world around him. Nairu had stumbled into hell on earth and he welcomed his death, if only to be free of the horrific pain.

like most authors (especially erotica ones), amelita rae is at her best when she's absolutely fucking unhinged

also, can someone tell me why this was WAY more gory and violently erotic than half (actually, than pretty much all) of the so-called splatterpunks i've been reading lately?? male extreme horror authors need to get on the level of a horny woman writing fucked-up violent smut tbh

Wow! Revenge is definitely sweet, gorey, vile and disgusting, but totally sweet. This was a very riveting tale of which some was difficult for me to read, but once I understood the process that had to take place by the werewolf/zombie to turn somebody then,,,,,, well actually, it wasn't pleasant but I was hanging in there. Great style of writing and riveting plot, even shocking at times, made it a very fun and entertaining read. The ending was surprising and I enjoyed it. :) So wild, untamed, and unique.

This book isn't for everyone so read with caution.

I have a new respect for Amelita Rae. With this book she has moved into the darkness that is Haimworitz or Bella. I wish she would have left this one open ended for a sequel. Would have liked to know a little more about the supporting cast. Nice HEA.

Beyond dark, sick, and disgusting. I did enjoy the horrific food sex scene and I am embarrassed to say it was really hot.

The first quarter lagged and felt disjointed from the rest of the book.

Wowza.... This was so fucked up, brutal, and disgusting that it was a train wreak I just couldn’t take my eyes off of it.

While I didn’t mind the brutalness of the story, I really found the sex senses quite disgusting at times and that’s the only thing that really stopped me from enjoying it more than I did.

Seriously though, this is all kinds of rapey with a good dose of brutality and whole lot of semen and piss... it’s not for the weak of heart or anyone triggered by anything slightly dark and disgusting.

Not zombies

The walking dead are not in this story. They are similar but not the same. Some characters referred to them as zombies, but the creatures are not dead. The description of the book being incorrect in this fact did not help.

The first part of the story sets up the situations. A resort way up in the mountains becomes a home for the survivors.

The next part has a group of Russians join them and turn their world upside down. The lycans enter the story next and you get their origin story.

The story takes on a great deal of violence with the creatures, Russians and werewolves.

The ending is sweeter hence the rating.

The story was quite boring in the beginning but picked up near the end. The story is extremely violent and can be repetitive in places. The characters lack depth and the story overall was disappointing. The story was more a horror story then horror yaoi. The violence in this author's batch of stories is getting boring. Every new release lately from this author has had an excess of violence and/or blood in the story and characters. It is like the author no longer feels invested in her characters.

A little bored of the dark stories. I wish the author would return to her more fun, tongue in cheek style and bring back stories like Elevator Music and Bait. I am finding myself less enthusiastic with each new release. The constant violence and blood is just off putting lately. Hence the low rate. I just find the story too similar to the last few dark yaoi.

Well that was...something. I like having kindle unlimited, but sometimes amazon leads me into this abyss of whatthefuckery, and I just can't look away. This one does not shy away from graphic violence and gore, which was as nice as it was absolutely horrifying. Some authors want to write about disturbing stuff but don't want to go there. This author GOES THERE, and then some. I can't say now that I've never read about someone getting .

3 stars. I honestly don't know what to rate it because I'm still trying to wrap my head around WTF I just read.

I am completely dumbfounded. I am very clearly NOT a part of the target audience. I have read wild shit before. This one absolutely takes the cake, first prize, champion, let’s celebrate the book the caused me to almost DNF because of how gross it is.
ALSO This was a REREAD. Past me read this and put it in my EHH list!? I feel like past me was completely delulu and forgot what I had read and put it in the Ehh just because. I had to have blocked it out of my memory like a traumatic event.

1.5 stars, rounded up just for the rarely seen raw monster fucking scenes.

So, I have a general rule. If you're gonna write smut, write smut. If you're gonna write romance, write romance. If you want both (ideal), you start with the entire romance arc and introduce smut afterwards, but not the other way around. Why not? Because you'll probably end up with a story that pretends to be a "realistic" romance for a while and then jumps off the deep end into extreme smut leaving all the character and relationship development in the fucking dust. That's exactly what happened here.

Nairu was brutually assaulted (not by MC) and then almost immediately afterward, he is brutually raped (this time by the werewolf MC) to death. Literal death. Tore him the fuck up, blood, guts (literally), and werewolf cum everywhere, extreme pain for Nairu until he finally dies after his mate is done raping him. He comes back to life as a werewolf, and there was a reason for the death and cum injection. Basically, the werewolf virus requires the person to die before they can resurrect, and the fastest and most reliable way to transmit is through semen to blood contact. Hence the cum party on/in Nairu's open wounds and bleeding guts. Okay so, there's nothing inherently wrong with that in this fictional horror realm (if your MC is gonna be a sadistic rapist, okay), but then the book introduces an expectation that it proceeds to violate from that point forward.

What do I mean by that? Ren, the werewolf that raped his mate to death, was trying to convert Nairu to save his life (he would have died even without the rape). Ren expresses (to the reader as inner thoughts) lots of regret for causing his mate so much pain. He even says (internally to himself) after the fact that he should have snapped Nairu's neck to put him out of his misery before he raped his body. That is nearly a direct quote. Ren didn't do that, so Nairu suffered the entire time before blood loss killed him. While Nairu is resurrecting (takes several hours), Ren realizes that Nairu couldn't speak during the rape (his vocal cords were destroyed by the non-MC assault beforehand) and that's why he didn't cry out or scream. He couldn't. Ren then feels especially sick over how he brutalized Nairu.

After Nairu resurrects, he is rightfully very afraid of his mate and says (to himself) what Ren did was "unforgivable." Emphasis on the unforgivable. So, a normal person would expect that (1) Ren is going to do some major apologizing and groveling for not putting his mate out of his misery while he converted him to a werewolf to save his life, and (2) Nairu is not just going to accept his apology and it's all happy days within the first hour.

Well, fuck your expectations. Because Ren never apologizes or expresses any regret to Nairu. Nairu internally forgives him instantly after Ren helps free Nairu's friends from their attackers (which was trivial effort for Ren). And then, the cherry on fucking top... NAIRU BEGS REN FOR PAINFUL BLOODY PELVIS-SHATTERING SEX RIGHT AFTER! Like what the fuck lol. I'm not kidding folks... pelvis-shattering. Ren's knot is so huge that it breaks Nairu's pelvis when it is full size. Of course, Nairu is a werewolf by then so the pain is just a brief second and then he heals (they are basically invincible in this world), but he supposedly likes it that way now. lmao

The poor guy was raped to death, his ass split down the middle all the way through, his intestines literally ripped out by his mates massive cock and knot, and within just a couple hours of waking up, he's totally cool with raging, violent sex. No trauma, no trust issues with his mate. All good. Yeeeaaahhh, I'm calling bullshit.

If you're going to write shit like that, DONT MAKE YOUR CHARACTERS SEEM LIKE THEY GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THEIR PARTNER'S WELL-BEING. Make Ren a total fucking asshole that doesn't care. Make Nairu a masochist before he endures his rape death. Do anything at all to make them consistent. Don't try to convince me how Ren is sorry yet says nothing, or Nairu can't forgive Ren yet does so instantly. Make up your fucking mind.

Also, tangential, the sex scenes were hot but few. There are like, two or three? One being the rape death.

So yeah, this story could have been great smut tbh, but it had to try (and fail) to make an affectionate lovely romance out of it. A damn shame.

Tres estrellas y media. ⭐⭐⭐🌠
❌ Spoiler ❌
¿Me gustó? Por supuesto que sí, ¿me dolió la primera mitad del libro? LPM, sí, me dolía lo que le pasaba a Nairu bb. ¿La segunda mitad? Sinceramente, me hizo reír.

This is the first time I read about someone "bathing in the blood of their enemies" and LITERALLY doing just that!

This was my first gay horror erotica, and...wow! That was all I could say was wow! This is probably the bloodiest, goriest, most grotesque book I've ever read in my entire life. The author definitely went all out with the gore factor. Ripping out limbs, organs, intestines, LITERALLY bathing in the blood of a nearly dead man, feasting on someone brains, etc. This was....something!

This was a zombie apocalypse type of book with werewolves thrown in. I do like the fact that they use the virus that turns humans into werewolves as a means to counteract the zombie virus. That's pretty clever.

I think my only real complaint is that the love interest Ren finally makes an appearance when the book is over halfway done, which makes the budding relationship/mating insanely rushed. I wish it was more fleshed out, as was Ren. Honestly the entire final act entirely was rushed. I wish it was more well-balanced. BUT I commend this book on the horror and gore factor, and how the real enemies weren't even the Zombies or the werewolves. It was humans, and they met a satisfying and grotesque ending.

Wasn’t what I was expecting

When it said that it was horror I thought okay it’s going to be kinda scary. But, it wasn’t. Which was kind of disappointing. It did however have lots of gore in it and rape. Which was disturbing but I digress. Besides it not being at all scary or “bone chilling” in the slightest. I found that the characters were under developed and the ending rushed. I also found some of the sex scenes not at all sexy. It was rather disturbing to read and at times I found myself cringing in disgust. With that being said, I did find the zombies fascinating and the lycanthropes thrown into the mix. I feel like the plot could have been good if the writer would have taken a different path. But that is just my opinion.

I had mixed feelings about this book, ultimately negative. The plot was jumbled— I felt like it couldn’t decide was direction to go in. The violence was too gory, gratuitous, and just gross for me. Though what can I say? I was warned and I didn’t listen. Thus I rounded up a star in my rating because that’s on me.

... Also, the early premise was suspiciously similar to that of a chapter of Viewfinder: a certain young photographer ends up working off debt at an onsen after his wallet is stolen— sound familiar, guys? Yep, that would because before all the weird apocalypse stuff goes down that’s literally the plot of this book. Look, I’ve heard tell a lot of Amelita Rae’s stuff reads like Finder fanfic, and honestly I don’t really care most of the time. I have mixed feelings about the way in which yaoi stuff is typically written/drawn. Sometimes it can be sexy, edgy, artistic, and cute. But other times... there are problems that I won’t get into right now. Usually Amelita Rae doesn’t cross that line into infantalizing and/or problematically feminizing the “smaller” male MC so far as to make me uncomfortable. This went more into the rapey dimension of yaoi— which I am more ok with than making an MC seem physically childish. If violence, rape, and erotic cannibalism (yep, you read that right) are a turn off for you—I straight up skipped parts—steer away.

There is no doubt that when it comes to dirty erotic writing Ms. Rae is one of the best. This novel no exception. Although I felt that she wrote it just to see the reaction of people. Because at places I was like what did I just read.
It went from violence and torture, from the feelings of pain and hopelessness to genuine sadness at the death scene. And then it became really sweet and cute and THEN again it went to crazy and bizarre and then ended when it just became really good. Loved that seat belt scene although it was too short.
I had to skip some scenes. But over all it was the best zombie mm novel I read. At least there was a cure this time.

I was hoping to like this book when I picked it up. There was no indication it would be filled to the brim to rape which surprised me and it serving such an important part in the story did too. Every chance in the story there were excuses to dismiss this rape and paint it as fine or even good. There were many rough patches in the writing where it got worse imo. The tropes, especially at the end, as it was unforgettably silly and cliche do I couldn't take it serious. Laughed at that a good bit and I thought the revenge was hot but that's pretty much it. This book was definitely not for me.

Not bad at all. Amelita does it again, however this is a VERY dark read... but no less kinky. Blood, gore, zombie, and werewolves. As usual my only complaint is that it just isn't enough, it's so good I just keep wanting more. But again, definitely worth the read. Not very long if you're a fast reader like myself, about a 30 -40 minute read at most. Oh so worth it though.

So Gruesome

I was not sure if I would be able to finish this book. It started out pretty gruesome and I felt horrible for the main charter. I am so glad that I stuck it out. Retribution is the name of the game for this book and it was quite satisfying with the trade mark kinkiness that we love from Amelita Rae.

writing gets better further in

Written like mid-range fa fiction, the writing gets better after the 50% point. I actually liked the subject matter so kept reading. This is not quality fiction but I’ve never read anything quite like it. If your a size queen into bulging abdomens, golden showers, and loving non-con, give this a try.

This ain't yo mamas zombie story. She would have clutched her pearls and ran screaming into the night. But wow. Hot, very dark and not for everyone I'm sure but a great story by a talented author. Even if your not into the darker tales I encourage anyone who likes to see men love one another to check out her books.

Personally, I don't think there needed to be so much rape in this, especially not as violent as it was. Also, the Mc just... wasn't traumatized by that? He fr forgave his 'mate' by the next day despite how violent he was to him. I know everyone has their kinks, so I guess this particular book just isn't for me.
