Mary O'Reilly has absolutely no plans to meet with anyone on Black Friday as she sets up her office for the annual Christmas Walk that is to be held the following weekend in downtown Freeport. So, nearly eight months pregnant, she dresses for comfort-sweats, thick socks and a flannel shirt. Imagine her surprise when someone barges into her office and announces they're filming her for a guest spot on their cable television show, "Ghost Discoverers." She's about to turn the cameraman down in no uncertain terms when a ghost appears behind him and seems to be connected with him. Forced to agree to work with the paranormal research team, Mary and the rest of her group get pulled into a startling case of attempted murder, espionage and mayhem-all at a paranormal investigation conference.
Terri Reid is the author of the Mary O’Reilly Paranormal Mysteries. An indie author, Reid uploaded her first book “Loose Ends” in August 2010. She has eight other books in the Mary O’Reilly Series and has enjoyed Top Rated and Hot New Release status for many of them in the Women Sleuths category through Amazon US. Abbiati’s book “The NORTAV Method for Writers—The Secrets to Constructing Prose Like the Pros.” She has also had the distinct privilege of guest blogging for Joe Konrath. Reid is from Northwest Illinois, near the town of Freeport, the home of her fictional characters. Her background is in marketing and public relations. She is married, the mother of seven children, and the grandmother of twenty-three. She has her grandchildren convinced that she talks to fairies and animals - and they talk back.
This series just get's better and better with each book. Terri Reid is one of my all time favourite authors and she continues to surprise me with every book she writes.
Mary is back and very very pregnant, Bradley is not leaving her side unless he has to. I love a gorgeous man who delivers breakfast in bed to his lady but boy he needs to think before he speaks to his very pregnant wife sometimes...lol there were some wonderful laugh out loud moments during this story and I really loved that. Mary had some ghostly challenges to overcome but for once it was slightly safer than normal but the ending let readers know there is more sinister goings on to come for Mary and her family. Ian visited, Clarissa and Maggie swooned just like we all do when Ian is around...lol The whole story was just a brilliant read and that I got to read it leading up to Halloween was perfect.
I LOVE this series. In all honesty, I have suffered for years from clinical depression, and was suffering from a very serious downturn. This series helped get me through. The friendship, the camaraderie, the family, the love and laughter, helped tremendously. It was extremely helpful in getting me to that turning point back to me.
I laughed till my belly hurt, then cried until I couldn't see the words. I felt anger and betrayal for those whose journey was suspended. I found redemption, grace, and, most of all, hope. I loved the ghosts/spirits (except for those malevolent ones), the mortals, the story lines and resolutions. I loved the lessons these stories conveyed, and the poignancy with which they were told.
I have several favorite characters, Mary and Bradley (and, by extension, Clarissa), being the foundation. Ian is someone I want to meet, and get to know, and just listen to him talk. Hopefully, he wears the black shirt (but don't tell Gillian I said that...it's strictly platonic, I swear). Mike. Dear Mike. I cried so hard for him for some reason, especially the role he was given. It was a sweetness that I didn't even know i was craving. I love Mike. I want Mike on my side. Always. Rosie & Stanley, such a opposites-attract couple, yet full of love. The O'Reilly clan. Can I move in with them?? Or maybe just visit Ireland with Sean??
I suspended all other reading until I got through the entire series, and feel as though these characters are my friends and family. Please, please, please, give me more!
Note: I would love to give this series 4 1/2 stars, or even 5, but the grammatical and punctuation errors just don't cut it for me. Miss Terri, your writing is superb. Let it be polished until it glows. Let me be your proofreader (beta reader?).
Expecting to spend a quiet day in the office on Black Friday, Mary is shocked to discover that she is the subject of the latest episode of the televised show, Ghost Discoverers. But when an attempt is made on the life of Dee, the cameraman, Mary realizes she has to help with the investigation, if only to satisfy Dee's ghost mother. This is a wonderful series and just keeps getting better. There is lots of action, all of the regulars we have grown to love, and a very satisfying resolution, with just a hint of things to come in the next book. I can't wait!
Terri, I cannot recall how long I have been reading the O'Reilly books. I do know that each story tugs me further into the lives of your dear characters. Thank you again for a story with laughter, love, and fun. I look forward to reading your next adventure for our 'team.'
I love the Mary O'Reilly Series! The characters are so well defined that if one is missing, something isn't right! Each book tells a new story about Mary and her whole "team" dealing with the paranormal. I know anyone who reads this series will enjoy them as much as me!
This story was a little different from the others but still very good. I love it when everyone gets into the act, Ian, Stanley, Rosie, Bradley, Mary and even Clarissa.
I laughed out load a few times and then was scared silly at one part. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. Thank you Terri for another excellent book!
I Will NEVER look at Paranormal Research Without a Chuckle Now
My poor husband did not get much sleep last night because of the laughter! FORENSIC ANOMALOUS RESEARCH TEAM, and a sexy Irishman proudly announcing it to fellow researcher....OMG. I DIED LAUGHING. This book keeps on track with all the enjoyable parts of the series! Be prepared for a really fun read!
Each volume is fun and exciting. I love following the lives of Mary and her family and friends. I like how they almost seem to flow in real-time. I especially like how each book starts where the last ends. Each ends in a way that makes you want to open the next story right away!
Another great book by Terri Reid. I am dreading the fact that I am getting to the end of the series. I have enjoyed this series, it's like a an old favorite sweatshirt. I look forward to each book and enjoy the humor, romance, friendship, mystery and paranormal in each book. I am definitely going to miss it.
I have read every book in this series and can't wait for the next one. As a gifted paranormal researcher myself these books are a great read. Can't wait for the next book to see what Mary is up to next.
Excellent story as always. I can't wait for book 19 to find out about the entity loose from asylum and maybe birth of her and Bradley's baby.Terri Reid is excellent writer.
I still love this series, but I do not care for the demonic side of the paranormal stuff. I know that's part of it, but I don't really like it much. I think Dee's mom would have been such a fun person to know. I believe my favorite part could have been the ghost chickens!
This series is fantastic and gets better with each book. Definitely worth your time to read this series. It grabs you from the beginning and continues holding on to you.
I love everything that Terri Reid writes because she is he talented and incredible story teller. Her imagination knows no bounds. It was another exciting story with Mary O’Reilly. I am really anticipating the next book!
The Mary series has been one of the best series o have read and with each book the story one just gets better and better and you feel in love with the characters that much more. I can't wait to read the next book. But i know if I start it tonight i Silk not get any sleep because the books are hard to put down once you get started.
Ghost stories who doesn't like a good ghost story. This was a very good book and for me very enjoyable because it was a nice long book which I much prefer.
One more book and I hope to be able and forget this series. All it deals with is pregnancy. I am sure the author will provide the readers with 5 books dealing with Mary in labor.
Awesome series!! The stories are like visiting old friends. Great characters, interesting plot lines, engrossing stories. I would recommend this series, highly!
