Until, that is, he runs into Margaret just before Christmas – she’s beautiful, intelligent and compassionate. But when she makes a decision that changes her life forever, it threatens to drive a wedge between them.
Enjoy spending a white Christmas in Cutter’s Creek, as a season of love unfolds in the most unlikely way.
Vivi Holt writes inspirational romance. Of her books, readers say:
"The plot kept me enthralled and the pages turning" "I cried and laughed" "What an awesome ending. Can't wait for more!!"
Vivi lives in beautiful Brisbane, Australia with her husband and three young children. Growing up on a farm she learned to love the country life and now she writes about it in her books. History has always fascinated her as well, so writing historical romance seemed a natural progression. She loves horse-riding, hiking, and reading.
Her goal is to write touching, emotional and sweet romances stories that captivate the reader and transport them to another place and time.
Season of Love is a heartwarming story of adoption in the 1800s. It’s a quick story, and even though I have not read anything else in the series, I was able to keep up. I’m fairly certain it isn’t meant to be a stand-alone, though, and that a lot more of the details would have seemed important or relevant if I knew more about the city or protagonists’ backgrounds. Still, it worked! The characters are enjoyable, and setting appropriate, and the romance manageable. It didn’t inspire me to read the rest of the series, but it is a nice story of emotional warmth, the message of Christmas, and family.
This may not be one that I come back to and ever reread, but I am glad that I read it once. If you’re a fan of Oke’s When Calls the Heart, this is probably something that you will like as well. Plenty of Christmas-y feelings evoked and mostly realistic characters who I enjoyed.
Due to a series of unfortunate events, the 6 Singer children arrive in Cutter’s Creek orphaned and afraid. The townspeople attempt to help, but no-one wants 6 children so they are split up. The unhappy children keep running away and a town meeting is held to determine their fate. Single, school teacher, Margaret Hutchins, understands what it’s like to be orphaned...she lost her parents at 14 yo. When no one proffers a solution to keep the Singer kids together, Ms. Hutchins volunteers! Can a single woman really take care of 6 kids on her own? Maybe not all on her own...single, rancher Heath Moore has had his heart broken and vows to keep himself aloof. However, when the brave school teacher volunteers to have 6 orphaned children, ages 4-12, live with her, Heath offers his help. Can this ragtag bunch form the perfect blended family? This is a beautiful story of 2nd chances and unconditional love. Ms. Hutchins had no visible means of supporting an impromptu family but trusted that God would provide. Even when the eldest child is disrespectful and disagreeable, Margaret doesn’t give up. Glad that we get to the bottom of this story that was alluded to in a prior book in the series. Love this series. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A beautifully heartwarming story that will lift your spirits and give you hope.
Margaret Hutchins is the school teacher in Cutter's Creek, Montana. Heath Moore is a lonely bachelor who owns a huge ranch nearby. When a group of 6 orphan children arrives in the small community, nobody is able to take them all in. After they are separated, they runaway at every chance to spend time together.
Margaret (Meg) feels led to volunteer to take all six children into the farmhouse that has been left for the school's use. She really doesn't know anything about raising children, but feels that this is her calling. Heath is attracted to Meg and seems to care for the children as well.
The story is predictable, but wonderfully written. As the children flourish under Meg's care, Heath feels more and more attracted to her. All romance readers know how the story will end, but it doesn't make it any less satisfying.
Wonderful characters, great story and perfect narration make this the perfect quick read when you need hope in your life! I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook by the author and chose to review it.
The characters are loveable and will pull at your heartstrings. The children are orphaned on their trail so they are placed in separate homes. However, they were not happy with this and kept running away to be together. Heath will give you faith that there is still gentleman that are willing to put their hearts on the line and do anything for their family. Margaret has a heart of gold that wants to do what is best for the kids and feels that they should be together as a family.
This is a sweet and touching story that will captivate you and pull at your heartstrings. The writing was superb staying true to all of Vivi Holt’s writings. Vivi Holt never disappoints in her writing and the amazing books that she has published. She has a gift for writing intriguing and entertaining stories.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good sweet touching romance. If you are looking for a good series than Cutter’s Creek is a great place to start.
This short story is so full of love and compassion that my heart felt quite full after reading it. Vivi Holt has captured an often forgotten thing, that of caring for one's fellow man, woman and child. In the story Margaret, who is a single lady and the town's school teacher meets up with Heath, a rancher. The attraction for each other is there from the beginning but neither of them act on it. Margaret takes a family of orphaned children into her home and into her heart rather than see them split up. She thinks at this will negate any chances she has of finding a husband but you can guess what really happens, after all, this is a historical romance. I found the book to be engrossing and entertaining, sometimes feeling quite sad but often chuckling at some of the things that were going on but on a continuous basis there is a message of hope. The interaction between all of the characters made this a lovely story and I am happy to recommend it.
What a heartwarming listen this book is! Just in time for the holiday season, Paul Curtis beautifully narrates Season of Love by Vivi Holt. Margaret(Meg) is Cutter Creek's school teacher. When 6 orphaned children come to town and begin to cause a little ruckus, she decides to take in all 6 and give them stability. She can't do it alone, and local bachelor Heath Moore comes to help her out. This book is my favorite of the series. It may be short, but it's full of tragedy, grief, love and happiness. Holt lets us feel the children's wariness to form a new bond and trust they will be a new family. Heath and Meg are wonderful together as their love grows. Experience love and laughter and good traditions of baking and ice skating. It's a warm, happy listen and brings faith and love into the Christmas season.
This is the first in a series about settlement in Cutter's Creek. A family moving to the West to create a new life for themselves meets with a horrible accident. Suddenly, a family of happy people is torn apart when the mother is crushed under the wheels of their wagon. The father is unable to cope with the loss of his partner in life and soon dies of a broken heart and spirit, leaving his six children behind. Well-meaning families try to help, but what the bereft children really need is to find a loving home that can take all of them rather than be farmed out piecemeal. How this can be accomplished is best told in Ms Holt's story, which I highly recommend. I receivership book in a mass giveaway, and I can highly recommend it as a wonderfully good read.
Meg is a newcomer to Cutter's Creek and the schoolteacher. Heath is a successful rancher, who had previously- and unsuccessfully - asked Charlotte to marry him.
In the meantime, a wagon train that had a family with six children encountered two disasters. Both parents ended up dead, and the children were left on their own. They ended up in Cutter's Creek where six different families took one child apiece. Sadly, that didn't go over well for the kids.
Meg felt in her heart that she could be a mother to all six...will she be able to handle these orphans? What will happen to her brand new relationship with Heath, who had just the day before asked if he could court her?
Sweet story, but again such a quick ending... wish there was an epilogue at least 😢
What better time to return to Cutter's Creek than during the Christmas season! Margaret (also called Meg) Hutchins is the town school teacher. During the Christmas school break, she learns about a family of 6 orphans that have all been spread out with different families around town. The children keep running away because they all want to be together, but no one will take on all 6 children. That is when Meg steps up and decides that she has to take these children and bring them all back together. She ends up getting the support of a local rancher named Heath Moore. This is a great story about faith, support, and love!
Meg moves to Cutter’s Creek asa school teacher. Upon learning of 6 orphaned children of the same family being separated, she decides to take them all in and care for them herself. Heath is a single rancher who is lonely and wants a wife. Can he love Meg with 6 children. Has Meg missed her chance of being a wife? Lovely plot, strong characters, and Christmas theme.

This is the 11th book of Cutter's Creek series Season of Love. It is a heatwarming story of 6 orphans who lose their parents. A loving schoolteacher takes them in to raise them so they can be together. MaryBeth the eldest is very disallusioned with people because of her hard experiences! The author makes you feel like you are there. My sympathy was with the children as I read. The good news is GOD worked it out for her also to have a loving husband when she trusted GOD to provide for her & the children. I love the family oriented books I read. I received this book free & this is my unbiased opinion. But I have read several of the cutter's creek series & they never disappoint!
Six orphans in need of a home and a single school teacher decides to step in to keep the sibling together. It was such a sweet story and a perfect Christmas time read. This was simply another wonderful and clean story by Vivi Holt. It is a shorter story at about 2 1/2 hours in length which in perfect for an evening of wrapping gifts or a car trip. The narrator did a great job and he was a pleasure to listen to.
I was gifted a free copy of this audiobook from the author. My review is offered voluntarily.
The cruelties of life have stripped her of a family; but can she take on the burden of the remnants of another family--of orphan children? Characters from previous novels reprise roles but any overlapping actions are fully explained, allowing this tale to stand on its own. Narrator Paul Curtis lends his talents to the characters as the new teacher struggles to make her way. Author Vivi Holt once more shows the exigencies of prairie travel and homesteading inflicting their hardships but human resiliance ultimately prevails.
Margaret is the school teacher in Cutter's Creek who decides to take in a family of 6 orphans who had been very unhappily split up. Heath, a local rancher, offers to help as she could not afford to look after them all on her own. I have always loved books set in Cutter's Creek and this book reminded me why. It is full of hope and lounge, without being (to me at least) overly sentimental whilst giving an insight into the hard life those living in those thinness had. A definite recommendation for those who enjoy American Historical Christian stories.
The love story of Margaret and Heath. In September six children came to Cutter Creek after losing their parent s on the trail. The town decided to split the children up but the kids did not like it, so Margaret the town school teacher say she would take them all. Can Heath court hernow she is the mother of six or will Margaret be a single mother? Great Christmas story.
4 stars I purchased the short novella Cutter's Creek Book 11:Season of Love by Vivi Holt and this review was given freely. Love brings lonely school teacher Meg, rancher Heath and 6 orphans together at Christmas time. This is a sweet and fast paced romance highlighting the potential trials and injuries a new mother of six children could experience in the pioneer west as they learn to accept, trust and love her.
Margaret and Heath's story is heartwarming. They are both great characters. Margaret is a strong woman, and Heath is a great man, protective with Margaret and the orphans. I love the orphans, of course! This is a sweet short story, and the perfect listen for Christmas! Paul Curtis has done a great job with the narration, and all characters. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
A great Christmas story about an act of compassion and charity that becomes a great blessing for all involved. Heath and Megan were great characters, but the one I greatly enjoyed was Mary Beth. The situation with the orphans probably happened more than we like to think about, and the conclusion was heartwarming.
I loved the love that this story shows. Orphans alone and separated from each other are taken in by the school marm but will they allow themselves to come together as a family? This is a perfect read for a couple quiet hours away from the hustle and bustle of the hectic Christmas season.
This story was a novella, set in the good ole days when people were traveling West in search of goal and a brighter future. Yes, things might have been hard for some, as they picked up everything they owned in order to seek out a different life; however, the prospect of making something better for their families and future family was to urgent not to make the decision to move.
Vivi Holt does not disappoint with this sweet story of six orphans from a wagon train who change the lonely lives of a lonely rancher and a young school teacher. Holt fans will enjoy the good humor, Christian content, and homespun setting as well as a romance that could only end in HEA.
A wonderful story about a young woman who saw a need to love a family of orphans. She had no other family herself and took on the challenge of keeping the children together. Heath helped her in many ways and he and Margaret fell in love. A good Christian Christmas story for all ages.
A rather amazing story of what pioneers must have gone through. The idea of 6 orphaned children negotiating the wilderness in mind boggling. This is a story of faith and belief in the ties of family, and how one person can make a difference.
Their parents died out on the prairie and they made it to Cutters Creek on their own. They thought they didn't need anyone as long as they could stay together. But God works in mysterious ways to draw people together.
This story was fun. Margaret is a do-gooder with a heart filled with love. She opens Heath's heart by taking in children the town shuffles from home to home, because they really don't want them. You'll enjoy the story and maybe you'll find a little Christmas Spirit along the way.
Tragedy turned to happiness. Not many would take six orphans to raise. But with a loving heart and a lot of determination that's just what a single Margaret Hutchins did. And life for all of them got so much better.
A very sweet story of a teacher who takes in six orphans and the handsome rancher who helps out. Neither have an inkling for love. But that doesn't stop the heart. I received a complimentary audio and I am reviewing voluntarily.
