The zombie venom entered my bloodstream, the Council HQ was ready to blow, and I was tapped out of magic.
With the hunger already on me, wyrmlings closing in, and my body shutting down, I was almost defeated. But where there's life, there's hope. I had a family, I had friends, and I had the chance at a future.
All I had to do was find a cure before I became one of the undead, destroy the maniacs after me and my boss, and life would be peachy, right?
Wrong.
The need to feed becomes irresistible, family get dragged into my mess, and then a new set of problems present themselves that test me to my limits, and beyond.
I gotta admit, I'm this close to just jacking it all in and letting this infection win.
At least then there will be peace. No pain. No hurt. No disappointment.
During an epic battle with the Dragon, Faz Pound, ace Dark Magic Enforcer, and Dancer, Head of the UK Council, were bitten by zombies. Infected now and on the verge of becoming two more of the undead, Faz and Dancer are making a mad dash to find a mysterious woman that Dancer knows who can cure them. Unfortunately, they’re also pursued by Wyrmlings bent on exacting revenge against Dancer for something he did ages ago. Dead Spark, the seventh book in Al K. Line’s Dark Magic Enforcer series, is a heart-throbbing adventure as the two heroes race against time to cure themselves before they become dangerous to the ones they love. But, it is the ones they love who must help them in their quest. This is one of the more adventurous of the series, with tons of action on every page, and just enough obstacles in the way to make the reader unsure that they will succeed. An interesting twist is added when the mysterious woman turns out to be Amber, claiming to be Faz’s daughter from his long-dead wife, and I won’t spoil it for readers by explaining how that turns out. If this is your first Dark Magic Enforcer book, I strongly encourage you to go back to book one and catch up. Not, mind you, that you need to do that in order to enjoy this one. It pretty much stands on its on as a fantastic fantasy. Magic and mayhem aplenty will keep you thrilled from page one to the last. I received an advanced reader copy of this book.
I'm enjoying reading this series and seeing how the characters evolve. I also like the different descriptions and point of view on magic and magical creatures.
the magnificent story of magic, fantasy where magic and humans content only to find out that each one of us do have our own kinda magic just by being ourselves. I loved it!!
Excellent instalment in the Dark Spark series. This one sees Faz and Dancer haring across the country chased by bad guys and slowly succumbing to the zombie virus taking over their systems after the fight against Dragon and his wyrmlings. Has all the loveable, quintessential, quirkiness of the previous books and brains too.
In a world awash with hip, cool UF characters Faz is the bumbling, boob obsessed loveable muppet that reminds us that its bloody good to laugh.
Full disclosure, I was provided an advance copy of this book by the author as part of his “A-Team” in exchange for an honest review.
Race Against Time
For those of you, like myself, who ended Hidden Spark about as cliff-hung as can be, “Dead Spark” jumps right back into the action and leaves no room to relax. With the zombie virus coursing through them both and still being relentlessly pursued by the Wyrmlings, Spark and Dancer must seek out the assistance of a person who may or may not be willing to oblige. Can this mysterious woman with a dark secret be the key to Spark’s salvation; or will the revelation of her mysterious origins be his ultimate undoing?
This book was wild! From the beginning to the end there was no amount of action, fighting, badass motorcycles and even comedy. But it’s not all fun and games as our favorite enforcer is soon to find out. Even with the help of his friends and family, he finds this to be probably one of the toughest things he’s had to endure for many years.
I literally blazed through Dead Spark in a about a day and in retrospect, I am left with a nagging feeling that Spark may not fully recover from this latest adventure. If you thought Spark was damaged after his trip to Tokyo, you are in for a shock with this one. Certain demons from his past were brought to light that will most likely have an influence on his world view going forward. And I’m not sure that’s going to be such a good thing. I just hope that we’re not left in the dark for too long before book 8. Still, with this series continues to be a personal favorite of mine. I’ll be sad to see it end, but nothing can continue forever; not even immortal Hidden smartly dressed Dark Magic Enforcers.
Just when I think the Spark series can't get any better, it does. This time around Faz "Spark" Pound has a problem to deal with that happened at the end of the last book: he's been bitten by a zombie! Dancer has been, too, and they both go on a trip to get to the only person that can save them. Along the way, they must outrun the wyrmlings who are still after them, Spark takes a side trip to Intus' home where reality is very different, and Spark comes face to face with a part of his past. Add in Kate, Grandma, Mithnite, and Persimmon, and you have a wild ride of fun, action, and brains. At the very end, there is a plot twist that made me almost as sad as Spark. I was heartbroken. Curious as to what happened? Read the book and find out. You don't have to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this one, but I think the reader would lose a few subtleties if they didn't. Wonderful addition to the series and hope to read more very soon! Highly recommend!
Thanks to the author for the e-book which I read voluntarily. This exact review will be posted on both Amazon and Goodreads.
