When a woman, her face cut off and her body defiled, is found dead at the edge of The Dark, the case is assigned to Special Agent Raven Storm of Section 13. The victim, a vacationing lawyer named Domino Carmichael, lived a normal life. She worked as a public defender, kept her nose clean and appeared to have had no preternatural contacts. By all accounts she was as vanilla as they come. Why, then, did she write three occult symbols in her own blood as she lay dying? And what was her connection to the four other victims, all players of an alternative reality game called Night? As Raven and her partner Rupert Levac dig deeper, they find themselves embroiled in something far more sinister than simple murder. Something dark, where blood is only the beginning. Night Raven Night is Calling. Can you Hear it?
Skye Knizley is the USA Today bestselling author of the Storm Chronicles series, an urban fantasy tale that mixes mystery, magic and horror, Midnight Roads, her homage to road movies with a dash of mystery and horror and the Shadowlands series of modern adventure/mysteries. All of her books feature strong female leads who can hold their own the men and then some, witticisms and of course Skye’s trademark snark.
Skye lives in the middle of nowhere, the small town life appeals to her and is conducive to writing. When she isn’t writing Skye can be found camping, motorcycling and hiking with her psychotic Siberian husky.
Skye is also a proud gamer girl and an avid fan of roleplaying games. She currently participates in a weekly game held at a local gaming store (stop in and say ‘hi!’) and is the writer and game-master of a private Fantasy Flight Star Wars game held once a month.
It seems the more books Knizley puts out, the better they are. She has improved her writing over this series. This book was exciting and ended on a cliffhanger. I'm stuck having to read book 9 right away. I found out some of her other books are lesfic too, so I'm going to try some others when I finish this series. Right now this series sits at 10 books, but I believe it is still ongoing. If you are a paranormal/mystery fan I recommend this series. Vamps, weres of every kind, witches, fae, supernaturals for just about any fan. The romance in these books is very PG, but it's sweet and I really like the pairing so I don't mind. For anyone who missed my earlier reviews, the main is bisexual so the first few books are M/F than all the rest are F/F. This series is currently available on Kindle Unlimited.
They just keep getting better and better. I actually screamed NOOOOO!!! at the end of this one. It's gonna seem like an eternity till the next one. Great job!

This series must be read in publishing order. The first book is Stormrise Special Edition. The second book is Stormrage. The third book is Stormwind. The fourth book is Shadowstorm. The fifth book is Raven. The sixth book is Storm. The seventh book is Aspen. This is the eighth book. I can't wait to read Stormfront!
Aspen, Raven, and Rupe are ready to go back home... For good this time! Seattle has been great but home and family will always be Chicago. Section 13 is finally reopening their field office there, and just in time, with two weddings coming up and the myriad other family responsibilities. Who is hunting Vampires? Why are tourists being brutally murdered? Are the cases connected? Will their personal relationships survive being Section 13 FBI Agents? Or will the work eat them alive? Can anything survive a job that has no off switch?
Omg I got to the end and was pissed that it was over. Skyes books pull you in. All emotions running full steam. Raven is kickass and this series is so good. I held off reading this as long as I could knowing I would have to wait for the next. If you want a boring lifeless series go elsewhere. If you want to be immersed in Ravens world start at the beginning. Skye never disappoints.
What a fantastic book but I expected no less from the newest Storm Chronicles book :)
Raven is on fire! She not only kicks butt when she's all master vampired up, but also when she's not feeling well. That's what I call a kick-ass-heroine.
But oooooh, why oh whyyyyy does there have to be a cliffhanger at the end? Now I need to hibernate until the next book comes out. I don't think I'd survive the wait otherwise ;)
The author keeps you guessing. Just when I think I have it figured out. BOOM .another mystery..I love the characters. Raven is a strong lead character followed by levac and if course aspen. I recommend grabbing a hot drink,a warm blanket and starting right off with book one you will not be disappointed
If you like complex characters, non stop action with great cars and weapons this the the book for you. I have enjoyed seeing what Skye Knizley will come up with next. I have faith in Storm and Aspen's happy ever after.
Excellent book, excellent read, I couldn't put it down ! Definitely worth your time and money. It's also on Kindle Unlimited ! I've got to download the next book in this series right now, lol.
