WARNING: Light-hearted fantasy romance. Boy x Boy.

Nineteen-year-old young man, Rio, has a summer all to himself as his family have gone away travelling Europe. He is in the process of training in order to be on the London Swimming team for the Olympics. In order to get scouted, he needs to practice, keep fit and train throughout the summer before championships.

One morning as he is following his routine and jogging along the beach. He is about to leave when he hears something. Something that doesn't belong to the sea gulls hovering nearby. He goes over to a pair of moored boats to investigate, but doesn't expect to find the anomaly that he does. As soon as he pulls back the netting from the poor creature stranded in the rock pool, he promptly turns away and heaves. What is this creature? How did it get here? What was he going to do when he can't get it out of his mind by the time he returns home? The answer is quite simple really; he has to go back.

The story follows Rio attempting to come to terms with finding a merman on the beach and trying to heal his wounds. However, the ‘healing’ doesn’t have quite the effect Rio was hoping for and all too soon, the merman has lost his tail and grown a pair of legs instead. The only advantage to all of this is -the creature is the fastest swimmer in the world.

A great read! I honestly adored the raw emotions in this story! The descriptions were amazing, I really got the feel of the caves and the beaches, I could almost smell the salt water!
This was definitely an intriguing take on the average mermaid story. It definitely had a gritty, edgy flavour to it but also had a lot of funny moments that may have earned a giggle out loud (or three!)
I connected with the main characters and got all emotional towards the end (really don't want to spoil for anyone!) All I CAN SAY is that this is a much edgier take on the 'little mermaid' style story, and has some cute boy on boy romantic moments, which definitely don't hurt ;)
If I could give this more stars I totally would!

***2016 has been a very unstable year. Not only have I lost favourite role models in droves, I have been into dark places more times than I could count. Yes, I experienced highlights as well but the darkness has had a big impact this year and the only way to keep it at bay was reading, mass reading, back to back books with no stopping and no reviewing. I do apologize to all the writers that I won’t be able to review their books yet but I will get to it. Promise!***

You'll get hooked!

A very good book....the closer you get to the end the faster the pages turn. Some of you reading this review might want to get a box of tissues to wipe you're eyes and blow your nose. I didn't need the tissues...but some of you might.......I'm just sayin....and no skipping pages to see if there is an HEA! Scroll on up and get a copy!
