Hell comes to Hallelujah, a sleepy little mining town high in the Colorado Rockies.

Flint Harrington was Hallelujah's marshal until Mayor Joe laid him off. Five months later, the mayor is dead, found collapsed in his mine. His widow asks Flint to investigate. He agrees to help her as a favor but expects to find that Joe died of natural causes.
To Flint's horror, he discovers instead that Joe was hiding a terrible secret from his wife and the town. Joe's unexpected death pulls back a curtain and exposes a criminal enterprise thriving in Hallelujah's dark and remote mines.
Human monsters roam those hidden corridors, torturing and killing innocent victims. And when more murders follow, the town turns to the marshal they once cast aside, praying for him to save them all.

Enjoyed this book.

This is a really good story, but I should warn all the animal lovers, especially dog owners.
Small town marshal decided they couldn't afford to pay for more cop anymore. And Flint went back to his family mine, he has a strong religious close family. Many twists and turns, also killings in the gold mining story. Learned many things about minerals.

Solid story, good pace

An easy read with good characters development. I enjoyed the investigation part. Some of the tensions between characters in the police department make no sense to me, but that's okay :-)

Flint Harrington has been mining the family mine since he was let go as a policeman for the small town of Hallelujah. When Mayor Joe is found dead in his mine, at first glance it seems to be accidental but on further investigation, it is murder. Although Flint is no longer a policeman, he is asked to help find who killed the Mayor.

This was a pretty good mystery taking place in the Colorado Mountains. I liked the setting of a small town and the mining. There were quite a few characters to keep up with but it was a good start to a new series.

I have had this book on my kindle for a while now and have finally gotten round to reading it. sadly though, I found the storyline quite slow and then when the ending did come, it was quite rushed through, also, some of the storyline caused me to loose some interest in it with how godly the author made the characters.

I'm not a prude but the random swearing for no reason kept knocking me out of the story. Hard for me to relate to a character who swears just to hear himself say bad words.

Why so many murders in the town of Hallelujah?

Flint Harrington was the sheriff of Hallelujah until no funding was available. He started working the family gold mine after his father died. Another miner is found murdered and Flint begins the murder investigation. One lead takes us to illegal gambling with the Russians. Just when Flint felt he had it figured out it leads to another entirely different motive for all the recent murders. His family is in danger and he must capture the killer before more people are injured or killed.
I enjoyed the book and recommend it to other mystery readers.

Hmm. Michael Arches. Once again, a new author to me. Once again, an author who did not disappoint. He had me from the opening pages and kept me to the very last page. I think it ended too quickly for me. Great characterizations, great country for the book to take place in. Good people and bad people. Some made it and some didn’t, but who could ask for more. Certainly not me. Thank you Michael Arches. Jon well done. Now to find book 2 in the series. It’s always a great day to read.

Hallelujah has resurrected.

I didn't like this book. I loved it. Mr Arches knows how to write a great story. I was with Flint every step of the way, even to the top of the mountain. The description of the surrounding countryside gave me a sense of actually being there, I can almost smell the Pine Forrests Many thanks Mr Arches for taking me somewhere I will never be able to see for real. A great read.

Entertaining

Murders and mines are the main themes in this fast moving book. Hallelujah is a small town in Colorado, where murders seem to have overtaken and all the townspeople are understandably upset. Flint isn't a detective any more, but he finds himself in the midst of solving the case. He and his girlfriend Juliette do everything they can to help solve it, including offering a big reward. It's a fun read.

I have to give Michael Arches 5 stars!!

Flint Harrington is great! The characters are all well developed and the plot has plenty of twists and turns. Being somewhat familiar with the Rocky mountains country, as well as the local residents of the area., the whole reading experience was a joy to me!

LT WER IS A NASTY WITCH WHO ENJOYS BEING AN ASSHOLE, I WISH FLINT WOULD STOP TELLING SO MUCH INFORMATION TO PEOPLE, HE TALKS TOO MUCH SOMETIMES. THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK IN THIS MYSTERY SERIES, NOT A BAD READ HAD EXICITEMENT, JUST TOO MUCH MINING INFO. :<

A good book with an interesting plot with a different setting, focusing on gold mining in a Colorado mountain town.

So much going on behind the scenes for ex sheriff Flint to discover. How many people had secrets to hide.

Fast moving and entertaining.

Law enforcement in a small town in Colorado, the arrival of Russian criminals, betrayal of lo font time friends and the weather challenges of high altitudes. It is all wrapped up in the story of how a lawman/miner brings justice. Well written with intriguing characters.

4 I think

Only issue I had was that the author couldn't keep track of the age of thr girlfriend's daughter. Trivial in terms of the mystery but such details impact my trust in the author. But beyond that it's a good solid mystery. Lots of twists and turns.

Nice location and good dog

But a little too religious for me. And I didn't need the dog fighting details. Ugh. sometimes too much blah blah to fill space

Hallelujah is Dying

Good story. Liked all the characters and the ones I didn't like this author did a good job of developing that person into a really annoying person.

This is a pretty good story. Set in a little dying mining town in the Rockies, the little town of Hallelujah is hit by a crime wave of epic proportions. Murders, the Russian and Mexican mobs, dog fighting rings, and a mess of other problems overwhelm the little burg, and it's left to the ex-cop who was let go due to budget cuts to solve the mysteries. Good characters, good plotting and good action drive this easy reading story.

A good book

I thought the story was good and the book had good characters and a unique setting. Interesting that it included a lot about miners and mining, not something you see often. The writing was good, i wouldn't say fantastic. It was a fun read.
