When it comes to love, some things just can’t be explained….
It's 1977 and ever-skeptical journalism student Sarah McKenn doesn't believe the rumors of strange happenings in her small college town in Colorado. Then she witnesses something she can’t explain. A figure. A flash of blue light. A dive from a mountaintop no one could survive. Nothing, or no one, left behind. Struggling to understand what she saw, Sarah meets Christian Levine. She believes he’s the key to unraveling the truth, but from the start, their uncannily deep connection only leaves her with more questions.
Christian is a promising research psychologist with psychic abilities he’s eager to prove are very real. A secret experiment gives him his chance, but when he discovers the malicious plan of the man behind it, things turn deadly. Now Chris must make a choice between his own freedom or saving Sarah. His connection with her has become a soul-filling passion, an unexplained psychic bond. Can they discover the reason for their connection before they are torn apart?
Sizzling heat, surprise twists, and all the feels… Diving deep into each character, Renee delivers layered plots with a satisfying outcome. She writes with heart, heat, and an attention to detail that gives each story a realistic feel. Renee lives in Atlanta with her husband, three cats and four turtles. When not writing, she can be found sitting on her back deck, enjoying nature. Wine may or may not be involved….
The story mainly consisted around the dynamics between Chris and Sarah, but Renee Regent has a beautiful gentle style of leading us up to certain twists and turns in the book that really suits this type of storyline.
Renee Regent is a romance writer and boy, does she know how to deliver!!!!! Teasing and titillating, she has quite a style that will make any mature lady weak at the knees.
If you are an author stuck for how to do sex scenes I would definately recommend communicating with this author!!. Although this was part of the story the mystery of the supernatural event that took place didnt go unnoticed and I felt this was very well executed, I didn't feel it was too slow, I felt it had a balance of pace that leads up to each event.
I recommend this book to anyone who is into supernatural books with a twist of a love affair (although not sexual, but sensual), and any author who wants to study how Renee, as a romance author can control the elegant way of making love scenes less boring and predictable.

A bond that transcends all boundaries…
The chemistry between Sarah and Chris surprises them—a soul-filling passion and a deep psychic connection neither thought possible. Can they discover what their bond means before their lives are ripped apart?
Renee Regent has carefully crafted several stories lines into one book called Unexplained. There are several characters and they are equally important to the outcome of this story.
Chris is immediately attracted to Sarah. He can't explain why he can't stop thinking about her. They go through all the normal new relationship issues except for the fact that there is a psychic element in the mix. They both have secrets that they are keeping so that makes for interesting challenge in trust. But their chemistry is amazing and keeps them coming back together.
Sarah also has a story line with Zach, her best friend. Zach is a photographer and they are on a story together. They are trying to figure out all of the strange gossip in town and if there is any truth to the psychic phenomenon that is going on.
Chris has a story line with Dr. Engle and Ridgebock. Both are using him for something. Dr. Engle for scientific curiosity and Ridgebock to get rich.
The story lines are independent of each other and they are carefully woven together and lead to an exciting ending. The beginning took a while to set up each character so at times it seemed long. About half way through I became really invested in Sarah and Chris's story and had to see how the different characters were going to come together. Unexplained is a great start to this series and it will be interesting to see where Renee Regent takes these characters.
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unexplained was an altogether different reading experience. I wavered back and forth about reading it, but there was just something about the series as a whole that seemed to call to me. This may not have been the kind of book that kept me frantically engrossed, however it was also not the kind of book I could completely put down. It somehow managed to dig it's way into my imagination, and I needed to know what was going to come of these unusual characters.
“He wanted to go back to that place with her, and stay there forever. But he knew it wasn't real.”
The romance was, well, not of this plane. It brought with it a deeper connection, a psychic soul bonding that made it's insta-love feel much more plausible. In the suspended belief of the story that is. It might have come across a little cheesy, but then it definitely had a 70's feel to it, and seeing it all unravel in my mind, it somehow just felt right.
“What happened could not be undone, and something so extraordinary could not be ignored.”
The multiple plots interweaving laid the ground work for the future of this series, and I find myself quite eager to see where it takes me. The slow start gave way to an exciting conclusion, and I'm excited at the prospect of re-visiting this world with a more open mind. ~ George 3.5 Stars
This book is the first in a three part series called The Higher Elevation series by Renee Regent. And is also the first book I have read by her and I did enjoy the book enough to read all three books. This book delivers on romance, mystery, danger and the supernatural phenomena. Sarah is taking journalism at Fort Winston University and her close friend Zac is taking photography, so when they hear about the locals claiming to see strange lights and hear strange humming sounds at the local mountains they go to investigate. It is a popular area for camping and hiking and they meet up with other student. Sarah except a couple of brownies of fellow student Wez, which unbeknowingly to her they are laced with dope, so later when she sees a naked man jump off a cliff, she doesn't know if it really happened or whether it was an hallucination from the drugs. Even though Sarah and Zac check the site there is no sign of the man but they still report it just in case. Sarah meet Chris who taking a major in Psychology as he's particularly interested in Parapsychology. They have an instant connection and start dating. I won't tell you any more as I hate when reviewers say too much and spoil the story for other readers. I am looking forward to reading book two to see where this story leads. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This book is the first book in Renee Regent's Higher Elevation series. Sarah an uptight very serious college journalist attempts to investigate and disprove the unexplained lights, sounds and feelings that happen in the area around her college. After exploring the area and seeing something she just can't figure out she meets Christian a research psychologist student who not only believes that the unexplained can happen but wants to find a way to research and prove that it is real. As you read this book you truly get to feel the mystery and connection that Sarah and Chris share as they take this journey together through the twists and turns of finding what is real and what is unexplained.

Unexplained is the first in a three book series. I understood a little more when reading as I read the last book first. I recommend reading them in order for the most enjoyment—and they are enjoyable reads.
Sarah is a journalist student who meets Chris while on a story with her best friend, Zack. She doesn't believe in those things “Unexplained”, however, the rumors make her reporter's nose twitch and she has to investigate. The feelings and relationship that developed are certainly “Unexplained.” Their connection is far beyond the normal feelings between a man and a woman. Chris is interested in paranormal studies about man and his connections to others. The connection between the two is hot and much more. There is mystery, some danger, pain, and a wealth of character study.
A great start to the series. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
★★★.5 ~Lindsey~ This is the first book in the Higher Elevation Series and while I did not find it bad I did not love it. I liked the book and its concept but I just couldn’t get into it at all. The book was well written and the characters likeable but it just wasn’t something that I think I could get into it. Sarah and Chris had a great chemistry but nothing that jumped off the page. Both of these characters stood out on their own but there always felt like something was missing . I think this series has a lot of potential to take off and be a great series. The storyline is interesting and different and that what makes the story a good story. I just couldn’t figure out what it was missing. It did lose me a little but not so much as I couldn’t get back on track. It held me to a point and that is why I can't wait to see what happen in the second book.
This book started out slow and a bit confusing until it all came together for me. It took me a while to figure out what was going on and how all the characters came together. When the story started to pick up, I was hooked and couldn't put the book down. Unexplained things are happening and Sarah is determined to make a story out of it. She never planned to get so involved and fall in love at the same time. Go into this book with an open mind, explore the weirdness and relive the 70s all over again.
Unexplained was well worth reading, even though it started off slow. This gave you a chance to see the characters and storyline as they grew into a story that was hard to put down. Characters was likable and the description of college life for a serious student in the 70's was really entertaining. Reviewed this book for TTR's Wicked Words Blog
We meet Sarah McKenn who is a tense girl she takes her role as a college journalist very serious. Sarah along with her best friend photographer Zack are attempting to investigate unexplained lights, sounds and feelings that will disapprove that these things are happening around them and around the college they attend.
The one thing that she cant explain is how she feels when she meets Christian (Chris) Levine. Chris has a bright future ahead of him as a research psychologist. As soon as him and Sarah clock eyes on each other there is a immediate attraction that neither of them can explain. But even though there is scorching hot chemistry between them there is also more elements to this story than boy meets girl blah blah.
