Chicago Outlaws #1

Dirty Filthy Boy

Rate this book
Bad boy quarterback Ty Mathews has it all--money, women, fame. On the gridiron, he vanquishes defenses with his golden arm. Off the field, it's another part of his anatomy that gets all the glory. And deservedly so, for what he doesn't know about women hasn't been written.

Except for MacKenna Perkins.

The rookie reporter wants nothing to do with him. After all, she was hired to cover women's and social issues for her local Chicago newspaper, not deal with a cocky football player. But when the sports reporter falls ill, she's asked to interview a wide receiver. Since she knows next to nothing about football, predictably she fails at it.

Until Ty Mathews volunteers his services.

With her job on the line, she accepts his offer. Too late, she realizes her unruly heart's not listening to her head. In no time at all, she's in his bed, doing all those dirty, filthy things he likes to do.

But soon secrets surface about his past. Secrets that may destroy his future. And MacKenna must decide if the price she pays for the story is worth a broken heart.

A smokin' hot, STANDALONE, FULL-LENGTH novel with a guaranteed HEA.

2 STARS!

☾Did I read the wrong book? This is one of those books that I've heard great things about, yet it did nothing for me. I don't usually give books a 2 star rating, but I had to push so hard to even get to the middle of the book. I didn't even finish it.

☾I am a fan of slow burn books, but this was just too slow. The characters kind of annoyed me, MacKenna's attitude in the very beginning during her first interview was SO cringe. If you wind up reading this book for whatever reason, you'll know what I mean.

☾The book wasn't horrible, honestly I know many people who enjoyed it. Maybe the book just wasn't for me? I don't know. But I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has the same book interests as me :/

This was the first book I've read from this author and she did not disappoint. I'm a fan of sports romances and this one was really good. It had a little bit of everything and not exactly what I expected.

Ty Matthews was the cocky, player, starting QB and Mackenna Perkins was a rookie journalist. They met when she went to interview one of the other players. Ty was instantly attracted to the non flirtatious young journalist and Mackenna found him to be very attractive.

Things kind of moved quickly for both of them but Mackenna was afraid of losing her job. Ty only cared about taking care of Mackenna and didn't have eyes for anyone else.

They both kept secrets from their past from each other and when it came out to light they handled it together. The end felt a little rushed but I still enjoyed it.

Kitty's review:

After a little bit of a slow start, I was totally invested in the Ty Mathews/MacKenna Perkins story. It turned into an interesting, fun, engrossing book. Heidi McLaughlin did a wonderful job of bringing out the best in each of her characters, throwing us a little suspense and then giving us a Superbowl to remember.

Ty started off like one heck of a cocky bastard then slowly turned into a man that we could honestly like and trust. His antics in and out of the bedroom had me really hoping that he wasn’t a bad guy, that the secret he was hiding wasn’t something truly sinister. As the story unfolds and we see the true Ty, you can’t help but fall in love with him. He was truly loving, caring and protective. He also proved himself to be a true sweetheart when he took a back-seat to MacKennas job.

MacKenna had her own secrets and there was no way she was going to tell Ty about it. As tragedy strikes her, Ty is there to pick up the pieces. But, she’s wondering if that’s just to get her into his bed or if he really isn’t a “player” like she’s been led to believe. His PDA in Platinum does disgust her but, she’s willing to give him a chance. She doesn’t trust men or their intentions but, there is just something about him that has her going back for more and more. After she learns the truth about Ty, she can’t help but face the fact that she fell in love with him.

The minor characters in the story were just as important and interesting as Ty and MacKenna. From Marigold to Oliver to the rest of the team, I was totally drawn to all of them and to how they fit into their lives. The story was well-written but I felt like the ending was a little rushed and that the timelines didn’t totally fit together. Also, since I was brought up in a family that adores football, some of the lingo used in the book just didn’t fit. But, I did enjoy the Dirty Filthy Boy and I hope that Ms. Alexander writes more about the Chicago Outlaws. Especially Oliver and Marigold … it seems like there is one hell of a story brewing there.

I haven't read one book that Magda doesn't make me want more. I loved this story and was so sad when my kindle read 100% - I tried turning the page but nothing. All I know is this is Chicago Outlaws, #1 so I'm very excited for 2 and on.

This story has a very sexy quarterback who has a reputation, but not when it comes to a new sweet reporter, great friends, and teammates. I loved Ty - to me he was MacKenna's hero over and over. Their story will have you turning pages as you laugh, sit on the edge of your seat with some suspense and cheer for them as well as the team. It's sweet and sexy all rolled into one. A fabulous start to a new series!!!

This is my first read by this author, but for sure will not be my last. Alexander sucks you in from the start and doesn't let you go. I read this book in one sitting and was so sad to see that it was over.

I fell head over heels for the Ty, the sexy, cocky quarterback of the Chicago Outlaws. I loved him immediately but fell deeper and deeper as the book progressed. His sweet, overprotectiveness is endearing and makes him even more HOT!

I loved MacKenna. Her strength in staying professional in the face of being the butt of the players jokes is admirable and made me like her immediately. And then her ability to resist the temptation that is Ty.

Alexander created a world of characters that make me super excited for the rest of this series. I can't wait for book 2.

An awesome story, once I started reading it, I could not stop!
Ty Mathews is a Star Quarterback for the Chicago Outlaws and a playboy, but he meets McKenna Perkins a rockie reporter and his playboy days are gone! McKenna knows about Ty's bad boy reputation and does not believe he may feel more than just lust.
It is a lovely story with romance, humor and even some suspense!
I'm a fan of Magda Alexander for a long time now, since I discover her book about Storm, once I start reading one of her books I just can not put it down!

I’m a big fan of all things books and sports. So I was excited to get my hands on this one. And let me tell you it didn’t disappoint. I loved the storyline and let me just say how much I fell in love with Ty and MacKenna! The flirty exchanges and witty banter had me hooked. This is the first book I’ve read by Magda, but I will say it won’t be the last!

So when I looked at the title and read the Excerpt for Dirty Filthy Boy, I thought it was going to be a typical Sports Romance story. It seems like they are all have the same story line that hardly holds the readers attention. I hate to admit it, but I waited until the last minute to read the book. And how I wished I read it sooner!! I now believe the term, " Never Judge A Book By Its Cover!" I am not saying there is anything wrong with DFB's cover, I mean look at it!!! It really catches the eye of the audience.

Ty is the starting Quarterback for the NFL. MacKenna lives in the same city and just got the job of her dreams being a reporter.. And that is most I will go with that as I can go on and on, then we will have spoilers. I can not do that, I want you to read the full story for itself. What I want and can say, is that Dirty Filthy Boy just clinches your heart from the start. It shows how two people with two different backgrounds can be each others half. Both are stubborn as hell, but they fight with all they got. Now to see if these two will stay together at the end, that is the big question when you are about 90% into the book. You just don't know what to expect! And I love that.

Dirty Filthy Boy lives up to its name with Ty and the gang. Some moments I closed my eyes and pretended I did not read what I just read. Ha! But it was so HOT. So read on my friends, its a great Sports Romance that gives you a a kick a#$ story that you will not put down!

I really enjoyed this story! I thought that both characters were really good. MacKenna is a new reporter and she has been given an interview with one of the Chicago Outlaw football players and a couple of the linesmen play a mean trick on her. Ty is attracted to her but he also feels bad and knows that what those players did was wrong so he helps her out by offering her an interview with him, something he normally doesn't do. MacKenna is a little conservative and while Ty reads that about her, he does find it a little hard to believe. Ty doesn't understand why he has the draw to MacKenna or exactly what to do about it. It causes him some issues and confuses MacKenna. I liked the way that the story progressed and how we got to see a different side of Ty so that we could believe in him and MacKenna. There's some action and intrigue as we get to delve deeper into some of the players and their pasts. I liked the story and it kept me entertained. The sex is explicit and there's some smoking chemistry between Ty and MacKenna. They have a few hurdles to jump through and quite a few miscommunications/misunderstandings. I'm hoping that we get to read more of the teams stories. This story is complete with a HEA and does not end with a cliff hanger.

Dirty Filthy Boy by Magda Alexander
5 stars

There were several elements to this book I just loved. The friendships, staying authentic and committed to your morals, loyalty, humor, passion and accountability and so much more.

MacKenna Perkins moved from a farm town to pursue her dreams as a journalist that covers poverty, women's topics, politics, human side of athletes (not the stats) like what makes them tick and what makes them human. She met her best friend Marigold aka Mar her first day of college. They've held that close bond and had each other's back since. Mar is one of the few people she trusts with a secret from her past.

Ty Matthews is a twenty-eight year old starting quarterback for the Chicago Outlaws. He never dates or has a repeat hook up with the same girl. He has quite the reputation of being a player on and off the field. He has some secrets that could destroy his career if they came to light so falling for a journalist assigned to interview him could become a catastrophe. Ty is used to people wanting something from him and not just wanting him.

Will their secrets come out and destroy them before they have a real chance? Will Ty see MacKenna for the person she is or will he just see another opportunist? Will MacKenna give TY a chance or will she continue to see him as his reputation is known for~a player like he wants everyone to think?

I'm always skeptical when I see a reviewer received a free copy, but here's the deal - I received a free copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own, really!

I have read a lot of books by this author and I have loved all of them. She mixes characters I like with just the right amount of chemistry and steamy sex. In this story, Ty is a player with a reputation for not sleeping with the same woman more than once. Can you blame MacKenna for not believing this is more than lust? She fights her attraction because she doesn't want her heart broken and because she's trying to maintain a professional relationship while he's the subject of an article she's writing.

There are other elements which could have been further developed to lengthen the story, such as what happened to her sister and her sister's jerk boyfriend, but the focus was on Ty and MacKenna and the book wrapped up their story as a standalone. I'm hoping a story about MacKenna's friend Marigold and Ty's boss Oliver will be out soon.

I highly recommend anything written by Magda Alexander if you're interested in sweet steamy romance.

Dirty filthy boy

Goosebumps and tears-the good kind.
I truly love how Magda is able to get her readers to connect with the characters in her books. I absolutely enjoyed reading Ty and MacKenna's story evolve. It is cocky, warm and brilliant. I received a free copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own. Now having said all that I want to add that I have been a huge fan of Magda Alexander's since I first read Storm Damages and knew then that she would be a big success. I have never been disappointed in any of her stories and Dirty Filthy Boy is just another wonderful addition to her collection.

MacKenna Perkins is on her first assignment as an official journalist. The interview has been arranged with a player for the Chicago Outlaws football team. Boys will be boys and the players play a prank on MacKenna and her interview walks off the field leaving her without the coveted interview. All is not lost as she catches the eye of the league's star quarterback (who never gives interviews) but he decides to make an exception for this fiery redhead.

Ms. Alexander has combined romance with a bit of suspense and I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

I have always been a fan of Magda Alexander's work, Dirty Filthy Boy was no exception. It had the right amount of angst, steam and love.

MacKenna is a reporter who went to do an interview with one of the players with the Chicago Outlaws. Needless to say it go over very well. After a mean spirited prank MacKenna was left hurt and bewildered until the sexy Ty stepped in and offered her a rare interview. What then ensues is a hot budding romance between a player on and off the field and a girl trying to make a name for herself in a man dominated world.

Misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and an undeniable chemistry, how will MacKenna and Ty find their way to HEA is a journey you will need to go along with them to find out.

An enjoyable 4 star read.

I have always been a fan of Bad boys. Give me a Dirty and Filthy one? I'm in Heaven!

I enjoyed reading Dirty Filthy Boy! To tell you the truth, There was nothing dirty nor filthy in Ty Matthews! In fact, he is a gentleman in my book! Just my type of guy! Dirty and Filthy where we want him to be. :) Add to Ty Matthew’s past, He can be my man anytime!

I love how MacKenna keeps to her principles. Never afraid or swayed by Ty’s famous personality. Overall, I just love their chemistry. Magda Alexander wrote a book just to my liking. :)

When MacKenna is sent to interview a player with the Chicago Outlaws it ends in disaster after a stupid prank by his teammates, thankfully the team's sexy quarterback Ty Matthews steps in to save the day. But will an interview with Ty go any better?
This is a delightful new read from Magda Alexander, it is very well written the story line is excellent with a hint of a mystery that rookie reporter MacKenna has to get to the bottom of and of course there's some hot, sexy action going on in there too. It's fabulous!
With great characters aplenty (and the odd baddie or three) this is one book that you can't miss out on.

A steamy romance between Ty Mathews, the best quarterback in football,
also most eligible bachelor and MacKenna Perkins, a sweet rookie reporter.
Magda Alexander gives us a marvelous book with very enjoyable characters,
impossible to stop reading.
An epilogue would have been the cherry on the cake!

Sweet and romantic story from Magda. As they say "truth will out" and it certainly does in this story. MacKenna the rookie journalist is trying to make her mark and gets the opportunity to interview Ty the professional quarterback. What they didn't bargain for was the chemistry between them. Great read with some underlying emotional and realistic events.

I loved the characters! I love that Mackenna stuck to her professional ethics and searched for the truth. I'm glad Ty looked deep within and followed his heart when things became tough. An awesome story line, I would love to see Magda write more from this world!

Fun read but tries too hard

The book starts out well but it seems that a couple of chapters are out of order. The timelines aren’t quite right (someone should change October to September in the beginning) and somehow the Outlaws play the same team two weeks in a row. Also, there is a difference between the playoffs and the Super Bowl but the bigger issue are all of the subplots - too much going on. I’m thinking 2.5 stars but had to round up.
