Едно от личните ми открития покрай сборниците с инди скъпоценности Бляскавите светове бе странния Дейв Хигинс – средно начинаещ фокусник с огромно чувство за хумор, получило своят правилен изблик в настоящата трилогия, иронизираща безсрамно и отчайващо блястящо фентъзито, игрите и лотарийните търкалки на късмета. Да, едновременно. Брилянтно, нали?
Представете си свят, в който при раждането родителите ви избират статусите, все едно създават своя любим рпг герой – със все сила, издръжливост, интелект, късмет и разни необясними неща в сянка. Което би било чудесна идея за всеки амбициозен човек, който иска децата му да постигнат повече в дадена кариера, и ги предназначи за учени, магьосници или войници. Но ако въпросните детеродни субекти са със завидната професия селски или градски – според работното място – идиот, вероятно десето поколение, и в съответното селение вече някак са открили търкалките на късмета – къде мислите, че отиват всички точки за разпределение за изтърсачето? Да, на късмет, останалото автоматично се наглася на минимум, за да не се получи все пак тъпоумен безмускулен плужек. Ама – забележете говорим за семейство от селски идиоти, на които не им хрумва детето да купува талоните, че да ползват късмета му, и цялата им брилянтна идея отива на вятъра. Така се получава трио глупаци, единият с огромна сила, вторият с огромна харизма, третият с нечовешки късмет, което едва оцелява и се измъква от космически количества бой и класически изтезания.
Всичко върви все така безумно до момента, в който хлапето с късмета научава за разни неща като книги и училище, и му се приисква и то така да им се зарадва, но фактът, че коефицентът му на интелигентност е около нулата, прави това му желание леко невъзможно. Докато къде случайно, къде не, пипва една от търкалките, и печели царство. Мда, цяло – целеничко царство с все замъци, население и..кхъ, кхъ – гадни дракони. Някъде в паническото бягство от същите семейството се набива в невинно селце, където тъкмо се е отворило местенце за семейство тъпаци, и докарва драконът на паша от крехко селско месце и му осгурява дом под формата на зловеща пещера с тролове, вещици и разнообразие от зли гадини с различна степен на мъртвост. Ще кажете – егати късмета, но поне нашето момче ще е живичко до края, докато прекрасните му оскотени родители ги хапват на среднощно драконовско барбекю без сос – мда, профани. Но пък му се налага да тръгне на куест по отмъщаването им, влизайки в пещера с поне десетина нива, в които всеки геймър ще припознае най-скъпите си спомени, свързани с твърде силни гадове още от началото, лоша екипировка, недостатъчно плячка, безумни капани, дизайнерски скрити нива, отчайващи, менящи се пъзели и задължителен кооп. Да, да, и аз цвилех щастливо на всяко ниво, няма да сте сами в странните звуци на задоволство.
Очаква ви едно от най-добрите съчетания между героично фентъзи с резки комедийни елементи, класическа рпг игра от старата школа и сатира на предполагам цялата ни забавна индустрия, въплътена в безумието на алтернативната, подредена и варварско безмилостна вселена на живота, за който така обичаме да четем и гледаме, търсейки изход от собственото си сиво и модернизирано днес. Инди авторите са си истинско първокласно приключение, тъй че отправяйте се по-често на лов за непознати текстове – преживяването е уникално.

I enjoyed this book. It is a very light read, so if you want something purely to entertain you, this is the book for you.
People have been given points at birth to add to particular traits. Edmond's parents added his points to Luck. His father had points added to Strength, and his mother to Charisma. Both had very few in Intelligence, and this leads them into many scrapes and having to run away from many towns and villages due to their ill-thought-out get rich schemes.
They hope to use Edmond's Luck to make their fortune, but, of course, it does not turn out that way.
This book is amusing, and has an original concept. It is well written, but, with the characters having one main characteristic, they are not fully developed people. This is inevitable with the concept, though.
I enjoyed reading it, and look forward to the sequel.

Childish, silly, immature and not very interesting story. Not enough explanations for, well, anything. Hard to get into. Not recommended.

A very unique idea which works well with the characters involved. Edmond is a very lucky boy in his life, although his parents are completely useless, yet he manages to achieve without any assistance.
This book is a grower, the further you get into the story the more you'll want to read. The main disappointment with the book is; it ended too early. However, that's probably a good place to stop when you're an author and there's a sequel available!

Нелоша реклама и увод към два (засега) романа. Интересен фентъзи свят, много силно повлиян от ролевите игри. Всеки в него има точки, разпределени в различни умения - началните се дават при раждането. Родителите на главния герой са сложили всички негови точки в "Късмет", който да им помогне по време на търкането на поголовно купуваните "scrachums" - лотариини талончета, които се търкат. Неговата мечта е да стане учен и да промени света, а първата крачка от този дълъг път е да се научи да чете. Има и дракон, разбира се!

Another will written fantasy family relationship adventure thriller short story by Dave Higgins and Simon Cantan about a family winning a lottery ticket. They win a kingdom which has dragons. They flee the kingdom but a dragon follows to a village where the mother and father are eaten by the dragon leaving the son. The adventure continues in the next book. I would recommend this novella to readers of fantasy novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading all kinds of different types of novels and books 📚. 2022 🏰👑🗾

The hero is but a boy, but lucky. Whether that is good luck or bad is hard to tell. He is gifted a magic charm that helps him read, stalked by a dragon that eats the people he cares about, and dreams of becoming a great scholar in spite of a less than impressive intellect.

What the?
Maybe it’s just a short book but it didn’t engage me at all. There were a few moments where there was real promise only to have some nonsense occur. That sadly summarizes the book

It took awhile to get going but I am glad I stuck with it. Nice short tail with maybe a small touch of Gamelit to it. Probably not going to stick with it but that does not mean the less crunch inclined will not enjoy it. Nice original premise and good writing.

A refreshingly different fantasy tale with a main character who seems to have nothing in his favour - even the luck he was given seems iffy.
However, Edmund is determined to change all that - dragons permitting.

Funny
A humorous fantasy that holds its own. The main character is easy to feel bad for with parents like his. Despite his setbacks he keeps dreaming and the story keeps on going.
